Youko is described to be a fox-like creature.

No specific abilities have been disclosed on what youkos are capable of.

Trivia[]

  • Youko or "fox spirits" originated from Chinese mythology and are depicted as mythical fox entities that have spread through most of East Asian folklore. Examples include the húli jīng (fox spirit) in China, the kitsune (fox) in Japan, and the kumiho (nine-tailed fox) in Korea. Appearance aside, each of these fox spirits share a common motif of being able to shapeshift, often taking the form of beautiful young women that seduce men.
  • Youko are only referenced in Overlord: The Undead Oh!, in a game called "Werewolf". The Youko was a third faction that could could die if they were divined by the Fortuneteller but unable to die if attacked by the Werewolf.[1]
  • Similar monsters to youko have appeared in the official Light Novel series like Uka-no-Mitama.[2] And another like Kyuko from Mass for the Dead has appeared baring similar traits.[3] However, it is unconfirmed if either of the two are categorized as youko. In addition to that, it is unclear whether youko actually exist in the New World or YGGDRASIL.
