Two Shields That Will Never Fade (褪せる事なき二つ盾) is a game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on August 31, 2024 to September 14, 2024.

Background[]

While the rescue operation for Yuri and the others trapped in the Chaos Zone was underway, a mock battle was held within Nazarick, as they could not simply wait for everyone to be safe. Seeing Aura and Mare working hard alongside Shalltear reminded Momonga of his former comrades...[1]

Incident[]

On that day when the protagonist, Lupusregina, Narberal and Entoma left Nazraick to rescue Yuri and some of the other Pleiades as well as Slimeko, who were trapped on the other side of the Crack, the rescue team were doing final safety checks in a forest. Once Lupusregina and Entoma confirm everything was okay, the protagonist told Entoma to relay to Momonga that the team was about to start the operation to rescue their peers.

The [Message] is received by Momonga in his office who is affirmed of their use of the Chaos Adaptive Equipment, bides the team well and waits for their success. When he finishes the communication he turns his attentions to Albedo and Demiurge who are present who he informs of the status of the team and hopes that they will finish the operation quickly. Demiurge comments that in the Chaos Zone, all living and non-living things lose consciousness. However this will be the first time that Nazarick will be using the special equipment created by infusing the exterior with Chaos Stones.

Momonga thinks back on how the method of decontamination discovered by Sophie Noia of the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute would produce such brilliant results, exceeding his expectations. On the matter of the equipment, Demiurge tells his liege that he check everything thoroughly. And while the equipment is disposable, and needs to be replaced, as long as the wearer is with someone it shouldn't be a problem.

Plus it seems that the protagonist can operate on the other side of the Crack without any equipment so Momonga is assured that he will be able to follow up. That being said, since some of the equipment will be changed from the original, it is a concern that the team won't be able to demonstrate their true strength. But for now Momonga is content to just trust the protagonist and the others.

Albedo tells her master not to worry, as she is sure the team will bring back the results he so desires. The Overseer Guardian then reports that the Guardians are also focusing more than usual on their respective duties and pledges to do their best to assist Momonga. To Momonga though he thinks the Overseer Guardian may be feeling anxious, as are the other Floor Guardians who are distracting themselves with whatever task is in front of them. Momonga then tells Albedo to inform the Floor Guardians, Area Guardians and all their subordinates to not overwork themselves. In response to that Albedo and Demiurge honored by their master's thoughtfulness.

There is a matter which Demiurge wants to bring up which concerns Shalltear. Momonga appears to already know what Demiurge is referring to, asking if the demon is surprised that he gave the vampire permission for 'that'. That is not the case which Demiurge wants to bring up, but he is a bit worried that Shalltear might be overworking herself.

Albedo takes a moment to speak, stating while she understands what Demiurge is saying, and agrees what he just said earlier, allowing Shalltear to do this is better than worrying. She looks to Momonga for support. Momonga agrees with her on the matter, since it's especially important now that they might run out of manpower. That said, as Demiurge stated, there is a risk of overworking, so maybe they should keep a close eye on her. Although Momonga comments that this situation does bring back memories. Albedo hearing this asks more context, but her master tells her it was just him remembering.

On the 6th Floor, Mare and Aura are seen walking in the forest, talking about the protagonist's expedition into the Crack. Mare wonder if the team the protagonist is leading is alright and everyone is safe, though Aura is adamant that they will be fine, however both twins feel anxiety and worry for their comrades.

To take their minds off thinking about their friends, the twins head to the Crack on the floor to subjugate the Chaos Beasts. After a short fight the twins are alerted that someone has come to their floor. Given that there was no prior notice, Aura doesn't think that its someone on urgent business. The siblings soon find out who it is, Shalltear in her adventurer gear. The vampire notes that the twins have finished exterminating the Chaos Beasts, but besides that Aura asks why the other female Floor Guardian is dressed in her adventurer clothes.

The truth is, Shalltear would like to be as Shall so that Aura and Mare can engage her in a mock battle. As for what purpose, the matter is simple, while the members who usually conduct intelligence activities are out on a rescue mission, if intelligence services are required, down the line, she will be the most likely to be chosen to step up. The adventurer Shall is on a "journey of training", but unless others have gotten a little more skilled than before, the people who know Shall might feel uncomfortable when interacting with her so this training is required to temper herself.

And while she is responsible for protecting Nazarick, Aura deduces Shalltear wants to be prepared. The vampire is glad the dark elf caught on. While Aura finds this to be a logical reason, there are other things to be considered. Though she believes in Demiurge's inventions, the protagonist and the Pleiades, everyone is still worried on the outcome of the rescue team. Not only that there was the brainwashing incident with Shalltear, so it's not certain if Shall will be given priority in intelligence gathering...something which Shalltear should know better.

Right not is a situation where it wouldn't be strange for her to become passive, but even so, Shalltear instead of just worrying, is thinking about and acting in the best interest of Nazarick. Of all this thinking, Aura is secretly impressed by the vampire and she keeps it to herself. Since Momonga has given his permission for this mock battle, Aura is all for it, as is Mare, so they head to the Amphitheater.[2]

Around the time Shalltear started training with Aura and Mare, Albedo and Demiurge were still with Momonga in his office, interest in his phrase of "That brings back memories." Momonga seeing their eagerness to know more, and not finding it a big deal, gives in and tells them that Shalltear's actions remind him of Peroroncino, her creator. The name of one of the Supreme Being startles Demiurge. Momonga explains that the sight of Shalltear relying on Aura and Mare, brings back so many memories. This was a story he told Shalltear and then begins to recount a time during Ainz Ooal Gown.

This was during when Momonga and a few of his friends were taking a walk without any particular purpose in a dungeon. All of a sudden Momonga spots something running in the shadows, but it is too quick to make out. Peroroncino tells Momonga to leave it to him, as he takes out his Houyi's Bow and shoots at whatever is in the shadows. He lands a hit, but nearly ends up hitting Herohero. There still is another enemy in the area, and it nearly targets Herohero, but Bukubukuchagama comes to his aid. After driving whatever off, the slime berates her companion for wandering alone inside a dungeon, as even with mercenary NPCs its still dangerous. After being thanked by the Elder Black Ooze, Bukubukuchagama tells her brother Peroroncino to eliminate the enemy, which he does with his bow, killing it.

Herohero apologizes for letting his guard now, but at least now he can take a breather. It has been awhile since the player had logged in YGGDRASIL for the first time after the death march at work. Back then, Herohero was writing AI programs for the maids' behavior in between his busy work schedule at his company. Though he seem to Momonga to be having fun, he always found Herohero's daily life to be terrifying so to take a breather and changing his mood, both Momonga and Bukubukuchagama arranged exploring a familiar dungeon.

Herohero admits that it has been awhile since he went on an adventure, but still was having fun and thanks his friends for inviting him. The two other players are glad to hear it, with Bukubukuchagama adding that she is happy Nazarick is becoming more and more lively thanks to Herohero's maids' AI. Though admits sometimes its best to take everything in moderation.

Peroroncino suggests that if Herohero isn't feeling well, he could get depressed every time he sees the maids, who were ironically born from the soul of a corporate slave. This earns a laugh from Herohero admitting that he got so engrossed in his work that he was worried, which he apologizes. Momonga thinks that Herohero's motivations was that he didn't like the atmosphere of a tense guild thus may have led him to create the general maids.

Momonga in the present wonders what if Herohero, who was involved in their creation, influenced the general maids' feelings making them think of "Please don't take away my job" and "I want to work all day"...but he decides that can't be the case as the NPCs that Herohero worked on aren't the only ones who seem like corporate slaves, and it's not like Herohero chose to be a corporate slave either..

Bukubukuchagama comments on the appearance of the maids, marveling at Whitebrim's cute artwork was really cute. Especially his most famous quote, which Peroroncino states to be "Maid uniforms are decisive battle weapons"! And while there is no reason for it, Bukubukuchagama their designs are cute. And on top of that, Herohero's adorable gestures are added. She then asks what other gestures he is working on. Before the programmer can answer, Peroroncino interrupts, asking if it is possible, to have a completely flat-chested maid.

His interruption peeves Bukubukuchagama as she was cut off, and wasn't him. Though wants to know why her brother made such a request. In response to the birdman's question, Herohero states that it's hard to say for sure, but if it's just about the chest area, he might be able to make something good for Peroroncino.

Peroroncino is thrilled as he comes over to discuss with Herohero on an NPC he wants to talk about an NPC he is working on: Shalltear. His sister is not amused and hits Peroroncino telling to quit it as Herohero is serious. Herohero laughs at the sibling's interaction, joking he felt a bit of danger. Peroroncino tells Bukubukuchagama to not get in his way of his goal, but she ignores him chiding him not to give their tired friend, who is exhausted any more work. This causes the birdman to whine in displeasure,

Herohero does not mind as he enjoys working on the general maids, he is okay for helping on another project. Bukubukuchagama feels that this is a serious big deal as she couldn't sleep for the rest of my life until she could reach the ideal mysterious figure! But it's impossible to do even a little and not only that her brother really doesn't know how to control himself.

Peroroncino is aghast on what his sister has a problem with him. Momonga chuckles at the siblings though wishes luck to Peroroncino on his work on Shalltear, suggesting he study how to make his own macros. The birdman guesses he has no choice but to research it with Flatfoot...though is worried considering the player named his weapon "Tsururinpettan". Momonga reminded Peroroncino explained that Flatfoot just like flat chested girls, and that he's not a loli, not like the birdman.

Herohero though thinks its just a small difference, but Bukubukuchagama tells him not to bother because that trivial difference will just cause another argument. Peroroncino takes offense to his sister's lack of faith, so he seek validation from Momonga promising that he won't cause any trouble.

Bukubukuchagama tells her brother there's no way she can trust her brother, recalling the time he had the argument with Flatfoot, and called him gay. The birdman is mute on that topic. Herohero though needs to step out of the conversation for a second. Worried Momonga asks if he got a message that he is out of nanomachines. But that is not the issue, as Herohero installed nanomachines to set up macros, so he's still okay. But more importantly, it's the enemy. Something is catching on his motion detection.

In light of this Bukubukuchagama chides herself for letting her guard down, and asks Momonga to be allowed to handle this, which the undead permits. And like that, Momonga reminiscences that they fought many battles. The undead reflects on Bukubukuchagama's magnificent fighting and that she was truly worthy of being called "Unsinkable."

The team manage to reach the deepest part of the dungeon. Herohero comments that it was really fun, as the adventure helped him relieve the fatigue from work. His friends were glad to help. Herohero makes a comment about Bukubukuchagama's voice during battle, stating that it really makes one feel like their hands were sweating and getting them immersed in the world.

Since he likes her voices so much, the slime suggests that he can pay for it. This makes Peroroncino to comment that he remembered a character he used to support and it made him sad...to which Bukubukuchagama reacts with a laugh. It proves infectious as Momonga joins in the laughter. The undead notes it was fun to conquer difficult spots together, but it's also nice to dive casually with a small group like this. He can see everyone's fighting styles and make some discoveries.

Peroroncino elaborates that he couldn't stand the idea of the person's voice for the character belonged to his sister. And now he finds himself in self-pity for losing one of his greatest sources of comfort. Bukubukuchagama in response punches her little brother, causing him to crash on the ground. The player quickly recovers, declaring to Herohero going back on their discussion on Shalltear and states that he will make her into a general maid with a naught element and a concept to heal everyone. Bukubukuchagama in anger warns him not to dare do such a thing to the amusement of Herohero.

As Momonga remembers listened to their conversation, he was checking out the surrounding area just to be sure. Although the area had already been thoroughly explored, the undead was worried that there might be a trap or he might bump into another player. Lying in wait at the deepest part of the dungeon and then sending a separate force into the dungeon from behind - killing the player by trapping them in both directions when they have run out of strength - was an effective tactic that they at Ainz Ooal Gown have used before.

Even so Momonga believes that they were lucky - or rather, unfortunately, created the right conditions that allowed them to be transported to a room that even the best explorers hadn't been able to find. It was a ridiculous room in the deepest part of the dungeon, where exhausted seekers are trapped and forced to fight. Even now, when Momonga thinks about it, it pisses him off., blaming it all on the developers.

Back in the present, Momonga stops telling his tale. Demiurge who had been listening asks if Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama were in action back then? The undead confirms that they were, with Peroroncino with his flexible ideas helped lighten the mood and sometimes provided a breakthrough in a bad situation. And to make that idea a reality...with the help of his sister, Bukubukuchagama, was crucial.

Albedo though is confused by that last statement, so Momonga decides to end it for now, promising to continues the story later. Albedo who wanted to hear more, is worried if she said something to insult to Momonga, but not at all as Momonga found it's been a while since he had a nice talk about the past, but he thinks that right now they should prioritize helping the present. He plans to go to the 5th Floor for a bit. Momonga then leaves the office, with the two Floor Guardians telling to have a nice trip.

As soon as he leaves, Demiurge and Albedo speak, discussing on what a great story Momonga. Demiurge is really envious of Shalltear after hearing more about her creator. He sees Albedo being unnaturally quiet and asks his colleague if anything is wrong, especially when she gives a lukewarm reaction on the story. Albedo tells him it's nothing, but more importantly, tells the other demons by looking at that scene, from Momonga, wonders of he is trying to recreate the deeds of the Supreme Beings of the past? Demiurge probably thinks that is true. Given their master's destination is the 5th Floor, he is unsure what the Overlord intends to do there, and suggests they swing but to check, which Albedo agrees.[3]

On the 5th Floor, the Glacier, Cocytus was visiting a specific place that contained a large number of corpses alongside Neuronist Painkill. The Floor Guardian comments the the number arrayed, which Neuronist states that corpses were picked up whenever possible. Given the quantity, Nazarick won't run out anytime soon.

This relieves Cocytus as even if the situation of those who have departed in that Crack changes. So he asks the Area Guardian that she continue to manage the bodies properly in case of any immediate response. With the addition of rescue personnel, it's possible that Momonga will be able to quickly create undead. It would be nice if the bodies that would serve as materials could be removed quickly.

Neuronist understands the task handed down to her, and tells Cocytus to leave it to her and ensure that fresh, sturdy corpses will be ready to serve at any time. Nowadays, there is no one to torture to gather information. All the Pleiades are out, and many people, including the Frost Virgins, are on the defensive. So there is nothing for Cocytus to worry about.

Still to Cocytus it's frustrating to just wait, but they have to do what they can which Neuronist agrees. And as much as she hates Albedo, she admits that the Overseer Guardian seems to be worrying about how to keep Nazarick running smoothly. Seeing that there is nothing left to check, Cocytus thanks her for her time, and Neuronist tells him that there's no need to worry about it as there's nothing she needs more than to be of service to Momonga. To which Cocytus states as it should be before he heads out.

While out in the frozen wasteland, Cocytus senses that there is someone coming unto his floor and wonders who it could be. His visitor turns out to be Momonga. Cocytus seeing Momonga invites him to Snowball Earth, but is declined by Momonga, who asks what the Floor Guardian was doing. To which Cocytus, informs Momonga he was checking everything in case of possible emergencies.

Momonga finds this to be a good attitude. Cocytus while certain that the rescue operation will be a success, states that there should be a number of contingencies. Hence his preparations. His decision to prepare for the situation is probably correct. The reason Momonga came today is also an extension of that, but there's one thing he'd like to ask of Cocytus which is to help him and the Floor Guardian lends his ears.

At the Amphitheater, Shalltear was being trained by Aura and Mare. After an intense battle against one of the dark elves, the trio take a break. Shalltear commenting that in staff combat, distance was important. Aura and Mare tell their friend that she is improving, although Shalltear still feels like she has only progressed to the bare minimum in her undercover identity. Even if she carry on like this, she won't be able to become something she can be proud of in front of Momonga, who gave her permission.

Aura then asks what she will do, to which Shalltear thinks that next battle they should have two person battle. But the elves believe that's impossible, not only that but reckless. Shalltear knows this and understands mishaps will happen regardless of their circumstances. It's only when they can deal with them that they're able to do so.

And while that may be true the dark elves believe there's no point in just doing things blindly. Mare though suggests, about using magic. Assuming she's somewhere secluded, and kill all witnesses, he doesn't think there'd be any problems. It's an attractive proposal however, Shalltear would like to see how far she can go in a situation where her appearance is at a disadvantage. So she wants Aura and Mare to do her this one small favor.

Mare is unsure, and looks to Aura for guidance who relents to Shalltear's request as it's her time to waste. This frustrates Shalltear as she feels that she can do more to improve. Aura reminded her friend that the vampire appeared to hold off against them without any magical help, and Mare adds that she adapted by going on the offensive without being defensive.

Even so Shalltear is still unsatisfied with the results. And is sure her creator Peroroncino could have come up with something even in the face of adversity. Though Aura supposes it's only natural that she can't do as well as the Supreme Beings, but given Shalltear's seriousness the dark elf asks why she brought up her illustrious creator.

When Momonga gave Shalltear permission for this mock battle, he told her the story of Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama. Before she knew the twins scamper to Shalltear's side, wanting to hear more about this story. Having no issue with that request and wanting to thank them, the vampire, recounted to Aura and Mare the story of Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama that she had heard from Momonga. Strangely enough, it was a continuation of the story that Albedo and Demiurge had heard earlier.[4]

The story once again takes place at the time when Momonga, Peroroncino, Bukubukuchagama, and Herohero, were conquering a certain dungeon. It was then that Momonga has discovered a hidden room deep inside the dungeon that no one had ever found before. Momonga described to his the party of the bizarre scene inside, which was facing multiple replicas of him and his teammates.

Momonga thinks it was some a high-level illusion. He recalled that suddenly he had been transported from the deepest part to a hidden room. Peroroncino curses that it must be the work of the developers. He complains that they are running low on HP and MP, and this gimmick that the developers made force them to fight people with high-level ninja skills which he finds too much. Bukubukuchagama tells her friends to save their complaints, though her brother whines as high level illusionists are a pain and asks what they should do.

Bukubukuchagama reminds her friends that [Perfect Illusion] while high level doesn't change the appearance of a user. It's obvious that attacks using illusions will definitely cause damage. Above all,  they have to find the enemy's true form first. So they have to determine if the enemy is the type that casts illusions on themselves, or is it the nasty type that casts illusions from a distance.

Peroroncino adds that even if they think they defeated the target, there's a risk that the enemy will use [Fox Sleep] to rise again. All in all the birdman finds there situation to be bad, no thanks to the developers. Herohero agrees as there is a lot of the illusionists. Momonga recommends that they should have the mercenary NPC search for the real ones. The female slime supports that idea, adding that they should make use of something that only Playable Characters have and not Non-Playable Characters.

Shalltear ends the story at that point, much to Aura's complaint as the story was on a good note. The dark elf is told not to be so impatient. One thing she wants to bring up is if Aura and Mare understand what Bukubukuchagama meant when she said, "there's something here that the enemy doesn't have"? Mare thinks the quote was in reference to the enemy that the Supreme Being faced were lacking something that the Supreme Being had, like some kind of strategy that requires some clever thinking. Aura thought it was a story between two people so should it not be about cooperation.

In truth Shahlltear thinks theyu both got it right. She herself didn't understand very well but it seems the morale of the story is that no matter how many enemies attacked, they were not coordinating their attacks. Under the command of Bukubukuchagama, who saw through that situation--it seems the Supreme Beings overcame the difficulties thanks to the cooperation between all of all, in other words, "teamwork," and the brilliant ideas that Peroroncino came up with. Almost like twins in that they bot got it right. Mare blushes with admiration, wishing he could have seen his creator working together with Shalltear's. Aura expected nothing less.

Before the trio know it, they are startled when Momonga and Cocytus appear. Aura and Mare immediately welcome the Overlord to their floor. Momonga seeing them stand at attention due to his presence, tells them that there's no need to be so stiff as he just wanted to intrude for a bit.

Aura tells their master that there's no way he would get in the way when visiting, after all Momonga is the absolute ruler. Mare asks what brings him and Cocytus to their floor. Cocytus states that he is here to contemplate the depths of their existence and is grateful for your mercy. To elaborate, Momonga he had told Shalltear about Peroroncino and Bukubuku Chagama's collaboration. And deduces that the Shalltear had already told the twins some of the story.

In the spirit of that situation that happened in the past, Momonga was thinking that the trio might want to practice teamwork. In that case, they need someone to test your teamwork on--which is where Cocytus comes in. Normally it would be more appropriate to bring along an illusionist, but if there's anyone capable of taking on them... Cocytus would be the best choice.

Cocytus proud to be chosen, promises not to let his master down. Momonga in truth was aware that Cocytus was worried that he wouldn't been able to do much outside Nazarick, because of his appearance. In a way, it would be good if this mock battle could be a distraction for Cocytus.

Aura, Mare and Shalltear are grateful for the opportunity MOmonga has given them. Momonga then steps away to observe to allow the combatants to ready themselves. Shalltear then tells Cocytus that she wants to be able to find a way to survive a battle, just like Peroroncino, therefore, she doesn't mind if he comes at her seriously. Her two dark elven companions are ready. And Momonga seeing that a plan has been decided tells them to make a good one. He shows something that causes the Floor Guardians to react in surprise, a voice belonging to Bukubukuchagama coming from a watch he is wearing which he uses to set the time of the match.[5]

At the Amphitheater, Aura, Mare and Shalltear duel against Cocytus under the gaze of Momonga. The Overlord is soon joined by Albedo and Demiurge. At the scene of the Floor Guardians battling, it confirms what Albedo deduced, that Momonga had gone to recruit Cocytus on the 5th Floor to pit him against Shalltear and the dark elf twins. Demiurge is impressed at the duel, commenting if it were him, battling those three opponents would be too much for him as he would rely on summons. In Albedo's case, she states that she would probably lean towards defense, so Cocytus is the best choice for a duel partner.

Back to the battle Shalltear needing decoys against Cocytus's attacks asks the twins to do that as she will strike when they create an opening. Aura gets that Shalltear wants to keep all Cocytus's arms occupied and that she is relying on her and her brother to win the battle. Despite the trouble Aura and Mare agree to do it, with the latter promising to keep two of Cocytus's arms while Aura takes care of the upper arms. As the battle progresses, Momonga muses to himself of how he missed as sight of impeccable teamwork like this.

Momonga mind drifts back to the past at the time when he was with his friends in that dungeon. There Bukubukuchagama comments that their enemies are many. Due to the number and the need to find the real one, which Peroroncino volunteers to act as a decoy and snipe them one by one. With any luck he will hit the right one.

Herorhero adds that he and Momonga will take them down as they can't afford to waste Momonga's MP or Peroroncino's stamina, so they'll try to reduce them gradually. Momonga warns that there may be something else waiting for them after this. He asks Bukubukuchagama if she agrees. Though their idea will certainly reduce the number of enemies, Bukubukuchagama points that it means that while they're beating them down one by one, she have to make sure to hold back the rest of the enemies. In other words, it's a strategy that relies a lot her.

Peroroncino is confident his older sister is up for the task to which Bukubukuchagama is in agreement and wants to know what their first target is. Peroroncino decides to target all the replicas of Momonga first, which Herohero believes s a wise choice as the replica may use the original's magic which could be troublesome. Though the birdman worries that these replicas can't taken down in one hit. Bukubukuchagama tells them to leave the rest to her as they target the replicas of the Overlord.

The birdman is happy that they have a plan, though Bukubukuchagama jokingly claims what they have is a terrible one, but tells everyone to go along with it as she motions her little brother to proceed. The other guildmates follow suit into the battle.

The replicas of Peroroncino try to stop them but Bukubukuchagama appears to block them, landing attacks on them. Seeing Momonga and Herohero being surrounded by replicas of the former, she uses [Transposition] to switch places with Momonga to batter the enemies. The replicas soon begin to focus all their attention on the slime. Momonga then summons a Death Knight to act as his shield against the replicas with Herohero. There are now fewer opponents to deal with, with Momonga praising that Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama have no weaknesses in their attacks. The undead magic caster then casts [Vermilion Nova] to devastate the replicas. The surviving replicas retaliate and cast magic at Momonga, who blocks it with [Wall of Skeletons]. Through impressive teamwork led by Bukubukuchagama and Peroroncino, Momonga witnesses the latter about to end the replicas with arrows from his Houyi's Bow.

In the present, at the Amphitheater, the four Floor Guardians are still duking it out, not willing to relent. However when Bukugama's voice rings out that the time is done, they all halt. Momonga applauds them for their battle. Aura before her master states that the fight was good, noting it was difficult in fighting Cocytus's many arms. Mare admits it was like fighting against several masters. Likewise Cocytus stated that his opponents had a splendid combo that rivaled his own skills and gives praise to Shalltear's own attack in the duel.

To Momonga Shalltear did well in fighting without magic. Aura still felt they could've defeated Cocytus if given enough time. Shalltear thanks her companions for assisting her and to Momonga she hopes she has been able to come a little closer to Peroroncino's dignity. Though Momonga her final blow was just as sharp as her creator's arrow that he fired in the past. Hearing this Shalltear is deeply grateful for his gracious consideration.

Momonga though states he was stating the facts. Albedo watching this comments that since that incident, Shalltear had lost confidence and had become too tense at work, which was cause for concern, but... if that's the case, there shouldn't be much anxiety even if Shalltear is actually deployed as a spy.

Demiurge adds that if Shalltear were to use it as a decoy, she wouldn't be left behind. At first it just seemed like too much work and Albedo was worried about what would happen, but it seems like everyone gained something from it, so it's good. Her male companion believed that they witnessed an increase in the number of options available in the future. Hence Albedo thinks that's why Momonga told her to keep a close eye on Shalltear, and what happened today was all part of his calculations, affirming their belief on how frightening Momonga is.[6]

Aftermath[]

While Shalltear was training hard with Cocytus and the others, the protagonist was seen standing in front of the Crack in the Great Forest of Tob, looking somewhat depressed. The Pleiades having come to terms of what they saw in the Chaos Zone take some time to talk about their situation. Solution is still in disbelief that they were all trapped beyond the Crack. CZ admits she finds the whole experience still hard to believe. Entoma tries to lighten the mood, claiming that CZ should thank her older sister. This rejected by CZ as she claims she is the older sister. Lupusregina laughs happy everyone is alright. Yuri comments that the protagonist and the others were bold enough to come to their rescue and thanks them.

Narberal has been silent, speaks after some beckoning from Slimeko, who admits that she is glad everyone is safe and that it was worth it. Thanks are given to the protagonist who humbly states he was doing what was natural. Moreover he would like to inform Momonga that they have all returned safely. Slimkeo agrees that this be the best way to proceed, though notes that the protagonist probably has complicated feelings after his experience in the Crack.

When Momonga returned to the Round Table, he received the initial news in a [Message] from the protagonist that Solution and the others were rescued and returned from the other side of the Crack. He is excited that everyone is alright, aloud with Albedo and Demiurge with him. Due to his tone, Albedo deduces that the news is about the success of the rescue. Demiurge happy on the success is glad the adaptive equipment worked as expected. The demon then suggests that they host a celebration, which is agreed by Albedo and Momonga.

Over the [Message], Momonga receives shocking news which causes him to lose control of his emotions. However he decides to announce the details after the Pleiades return, but from what he heard, the protagonist cannot return to Nazarick. Still he is glad they are safe but tells the protagonist to remain within E-Rantel.

Albedo notices his distress, but Momonga maintains everything is alright and tries to focus on the success for the day to Albedo, Demiurge, Aura and Mare. The news relieves the Floor Guardians and Momonga adds that he has confirmed the safety of the equipment used and have gathered sufficient data on its performance, giving appreciation to Demiurge for his invention.

Demiurge is grateful to the praise, and plans to interview the Pleiades and those who have actually used it to find out how it felt. And plans to use this data to improve the equipment so in the near future, they can begin mass-producing Chaos Adaptative Equipment and conduct a large-scale rescue operation. Momonga agrees to this as he intends to demonstrate the might of the Sorcerer Kingdom to the fullest.

On a overall assessment, Shalltear training with Aura, Mare, and Cocytus through mock battles wasn't bad either. This will definitely not go to waste in the future, as it was a much more meaningful experience than just waiting. For humanity, Albedo states that the mass production of Chaos Adaptive Equipment will be a great achievement and a big step forward in overcoming the Cracks. In this situation, she think there is an opportunity to send Shalltear out to gather intelligence. This is true according to Momonga as there may be a situation where the adventurer Shall needs to step in.

Shalltear hearing this declares that she will continue to work hard to be prepared for any situation. Momonga is glad Shalltear feels motivated, and was glad for the mock battle as it took everyone's mind off the rescue mission, waiting for people who at the time they were unsure of had survived. Now seeing the Floor Guardians smiling, Momonga reminds them that the situation remains treacherous, but he counts on everyone's initiative, close cooperation, and reporting and consulting. Albedo and then declares to prepare a dinner to celebrate the success of the rescue operation and to congratulate everyone on their return. At the suggestion Momonga gives them permission.

Just before the Pleiades returned, on the sixth floor, Albedo and Demiurge were supervising the general maids, Foire and Cixous, as they prepared for a dinner for them. Momonga who is heading into the arena floor, is met by Aura and Mare at its entrance. The twins notice Momonga's hesitation in entering the scene, but he deflect the issue, as right now there is a need to sooth everyone's worries and congratulate them. He commends the twins for starting this celebratory mood, after all they assisted Shalltear in her training.

Mare has a question for Momonga, and asks the undead if seeing them reminds him of Bubbly Bukubukuchagama and Peroroncino. Momonga states it's pretty much a given. This induces gladness in Mare who hopes to hear more stories about his creator from Momonga.

The Overlord takes a moment to speak about about Bukubukuchagama, noting fondly on the slime who took advantage of her racial traits to become the party's tank. Thanks to her accurate judgment, backed by her advanced knowledge, she was among the best in the guild, and her tactical skills in hate control were unmatched. The guild all trusted her instructions as a veteran, and each of them put their strengths to good use in battle.

The description of the Supreme Being leave Mare and Aura in awe. Aura comments that not only that Bukubukuchagama worked in a field related to creating life so she was an amazing person, misunderstanding her role as a voice actor.

This causes Momonga to be shock, but hides it by hastily agreeing that Aura is correct. Though in truth he has no idea what she was talking about. But he focuses on the love and praise the twins have for Bukubukuchagama. To that end he tells the two that when he looks at them he strangely is reminded of Bukubukuchagama and Peroroncino.

Adding that the two do exactly what needs to be done, like the two shields that Bukubukuchagama used, saving the party from difficult situations countless times. Just as Momonga felt safe and secure in relying on Bukubukuchagama, he trusts them all with all my heart. The words prompt Aura and Mare to swell with pride promising to be always there for Momonga.

Momonga truly touched, sees that Aura and Mare the beings that Bukubukuchagama made are truly reliable beings. And someday, Momonga hopes that she too will see the two of them moving so vividly. Momonga laughs at the scene of the happy dark elves. This causes some surprise to Aura and Mare having never heard him laugh and wonder if he was fine, but Momonga tells that he is well. Anyway, no matter what happens, Momonga promises to protect them all. Bukubukuchagama and everyone else who is precious to him. At that moment Shalltear calls out to Momonga that the Pleiades are returning. Momonga decides to greet them personally with the twins joining him.

Afterwards, Momonga moved to the Round Table Room with the Pleaides who told them something they wanted to tell him before the dinner party. And the report that was brought there was a surprise to everyone — but that's a story to be told elsewhere.[7]
