Trolls (トロール) are one of the demi-human races in the New World and YGGDRASIL. They are giant monstrous creatures known for their carnivorous appetites.

Background[]

In YGGDRASIL, Trolls are considered to be a very adaptable race coming in various forms and possessing specializations based on whichever one of the habitats they hailed from. Trolls could increase the variants of their species almost at will.

Appearance[]

Trolls are undoubtedly ugly creatures. Possessing a long nose and long ears, they are hideous to look upon. Despite their deformities, they possess a strong body and stand around 3 meters tall.[1] Their appearance can differ due to the environment they reside.

Abilities[]

They are known for their high levels of regeneration ability. However, acid and fire are a part of their weaknesses, preventing them from regenerating. According to Ainz Ooal Gown, although trolls have regenerative abilities, they don't have the strength to resist instant death attacks. They have a sensitive nose with a keen sense of smell that enables them to track their prey anywhere. In addition, they also possess great strength, which is far exceeding than that of ogres. In order to defeat them, one couldn’t just deal incremental damage but would have to land a single fatal hit that could reduce the monster’s health to zero.[2]

Culture[]

While there is very little mention of troll culture, it is known that trolls have relatively short names. In addition, they have their own calendar system that differs from the human calendar based on stars. Trolls have a habit of treating humans as nothing more than mere food to them which they must feed on to thrive and survive.[3] Connoisseur-type trolls preferably enjoyed eating the meaty limbs but disliked the bitter torso of humans.

Known Trolls[]

Trivia[]

  • Trolls are opponents that even gold-ranked adventurers would have trouble beating.[4]
  • Trolls believe long names are associated with cowards.[1]
  • Trolls are actually a subspecies of giants.[5]
