Shizyuutensuzaku (死獣天朱雀) is the oldest guild member of Ainz Ooal Gown and regarded as one of the Forty-One Supreme Beings by the NPCs of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Appearance

Shizyuutensuzaku is a Nue with the face of a whiskered monkey, hands and feet of a tiger and the head of a snake as a tail. He wore a red kimono with gold embroidery and wore a tate-eboshi on his head.

Personality

Due to working for a university run by a megacorporation, Shizyuutensuzaku preferred not to get involved in guild politics as he was already exhausted in school politics, and interacting with students and corporates in real life. He was not always a calm and composed man, but had a wild side that loved to PK.

To him when PKing, it’s an opportunity to vent out his frustrations, by imagining the players he hunts are the students that give him headaches.

In real life, Shizyuutensuzaku was said to be a university professor according to Momonga. He is also considered to be the oldest member of Ainz Ooal Gown to be playing YGGDRASIL at his age.

Shizyuutensuzaku also enjoyed playing shogi with Momonga, ending with the two games of shogi with the game world of YGGDRASIL. The two would enjoy the game so much that they would even forgo going on adventures in YGGDRASIL.

He was among one of the few guild members to have his emblem get called out by Momonga during the day of the game's shutdown.

The Undead King Arc

Prior to YGGDRASIL's silent shutdown at the end of the game, Momonga recalls all the good memories he had with the members of Ainz Ooal Gown including Shizyuutensuzaku.

Abilities and Powers

Shizyuutensuzaku was a spiritual magic caster and a master onmyōji that excelled at a wide range of magical countermeasures, but was primarily a magical attacker.

Main Equipment

• Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown: It allows the user to freely teleport between every room inside Nazarick. Every member of Ainz Ooal Gown was required to wear this ring.

In the past as Momonga, Shizyuutensuzaku played with the undead player in games of shogi. Shizyuutensuzaku was the one who taught Momonga how to play, who eventually surpassed the professor in skill.

Trivia

• In the English publication of the Light Novel, his name was translated as Death Suzaku.
• In a poll made by Maruyama he was one of four characters that the author considered to be introduced in Overlord Volume 16. Shizyuutensuzaku won the poll while Nubo came in second, Wish III came in third and Suratan came in fourth.
