- "First, second, and third Floor Guardian, Shalltear Bloodfallen, at your command."
- — Shalltear's Introduction
Shalltear Bloodfallen (シャルティア・ブラッドフォールン) is a true vampire and the Floor Guardian of the first to third floors in the Great Tomb of Nazarick. She was created by Peroroncino.
Appearance
Shalltear is a vampire of short stature and has the appearance of a buxom fourteen-year-old girl. Described as a true beauty, she has pale shiny skin, seductive crimson-red eyes, and fine facial features. Shalltear's silver hair is tied in a ponytail through a large ribbon on top of it all, allowing others a full view of her face.
Shalltear wears a soft black evening dress with a big heavy skirt. Her upper body is dressed in a lace embellished ribbon and a short tailored jacket. Her hands are donned with long lace gloves, not exposing any bit of skin exterior. However, her breasts are fake and are completely flat, similar to a boy's. She covers this up by using an excessive amount of breast pads.
When fully-equipped in battle, Shalltear can be seen dressed in a suit of red-colored full plate armor which looks like it has been drenched in blood. She wears a swan-shaped helmet that leaves only her pale face exposed. There are also plumes of avian feathers attached from either side of the helmet she wears. Additionally, the chest and shoulders of her armor have been styled into the shape of wings. She also has a crimson skirt-like armor covering her lower body.
In her True Vampire form, her appearance changes drastically. Her mouth becomes a gaping circular maw, not unlike a lamprey's, with a very long tongue hanging out. The shape of her eyes becomes quite inhuman and they glow brightly. Her form becomes hunched over and somewhat simian, with deadly claws on both her hands and feet and an eerie aura surrounds her body. In this form, she wears a much simpler raggedy dress.
Personality
Shalltear is an extremely flirty lady, much to the chagrin of her peers, especially her master Ainz. So far, she has displayed a preference for necrophilia and sadomasochism. For that reason, Shalltear tends to make sexual advances towards undead like Yuri Alpha, who tries to avoid her as best as she can. However, she dislikes rotting corpses. Despite her apparent shamelessness and honesty, she can be quite innocent about certain things. Shalltear also happens to be quite sensitive about her petite figure, which she attempts to cover up by using breast pads. Furthermore, she tends to easily misinterpret the old sayings of the 41 Supreme Beings and takes them out of context.
As a true vampire, Shalltear is extremely proud and takes her position as a Floor Guardian very seriously. Yet, at the same time, she has no patience or tolerance for failure and will often burst into fits of rage at the sign of an unfavorable situation occurring. Shalltear will not hesitate to kill any servant who disappoints her. However, she will not punish others for failing at tasks that are impossible to begin with. When Shalltear fails a mission, she tends to fall into a state of depression and can become very reflective on the sins she has committed. In fact, she believes that her crime must not go unpunished, feeling guilty of the terrible things she has done to cause Ainz trouble.
Shalltear is completely loyal to Ainz and, and is also considered to be the love rival to Albedo for his affections. She takes great joy in being able to prove her worth and fantasizes about the praise she expects to receive from Ainz. When a situation doesn't go in her favor, Shalltear fearfully panics about the scolding she believes that she will get by him. However, she seems to have a taste for enjoying the punishments Ainz orders her to do like being his chair to sit on. After learning from the mistakes of her last mission, Shalltear begins to act more vigilant and careful of the environment around her, planning precautionary measures accordingly based on the kind of situation she is in.
On the other hand, she tends to be quite a playful girl towards her opposition to the point of chasing after them for the fun of it after they develop a fear of the former. She will incite a few mind games with them for as long as possible before finally deciding to go through with either capturing or finishing them off for good. However, she can lose control of herself when she is splashed with too much fresh blood after murdering her victims. She also feels deeply uneasy and frustrated with herself whenever other Nazarick denizens don't seem to bear any trust in her for the job. She wants to prove herself useful to not only her master Ainz, but to everyone in Nazarick who lost faith in the former as atonement for betraying their trust.
Background
Shalltear Bloodfallen was created by one of the 41 Supreme Beings, Peroroncino. Shalltear was made by her creator as one of the subjects of his own desires. She was used by him as a basis to act openly around his perversion and love of H-games. Shalltear was given a wide selection of clothing by Peroroncino, all of which cater to one fetish or another. They include dresses, nurse uniforms, maid outfits, bunny suits, sailor uniforms, leotards, swimsuits, bloomers, and blazers. She was also given some animal ears and a tail as well.
She was programmed to take pleasure in enjoying various kinds of fetishes such as ones involving necrophilia. According to Shalltear, he had also programmed her to have a sibling-like feud with Aura, one of the dark elf twins who was created by his older sister, Bukubukuchagama. In the Light Novel, Momonga mentions that Shalltear was inspired by an amalgamation of different female characters from H-games played by Peroroncino.
According to Shalltear herself, she often tends to patrol between the 1st to the 3rd Floor. Along the way, she makes sure to collect feedback from the Area Guardians while doing so. Not only that but Shalltear also goes out of her way to check on the readiness of the entire floor itself. If Shalltear is given the spare time off from work, she would then take a bath, or get a facial whichever way she picks.
On the other hand, she and Albedo seem to view one another as rivals, competing with each other for Ainz's affection. While Albedo was programmed to love Ainz, Shalltear happens to love her master presumably due to her own nature as a necrophiliac.
In the past, Shalltear and her master Ainz together were usually the pair to handle lone intruders that had invaded Nazarick. While so, she vaguely remembered being killed once by fighting multiple players to the death during the large-scale invasion on the tomb back in the days of YGGDRASIL.
Chronology
The Undead King Arc
- Main article: The Undead King Arc
When Momonga calls for every Floor Guardian except Victim and Gargantua to meet on the 6th Floor, Shalltear is the first one to enter by use of the [Gate] spell. She expresses a bold desire for Momonga and hugs her master as a form of greeting to him, but is immediately rebuffed by Aura. Meanwhile, Shalltear advised her brother Mare to not follow her example or else he will become as weird as Aura. Shalltear was teased for her bad smell as an undead and the use of breast pads. After this, the vampire immediately got into an argument with Aura about it, poking fun and mockery at each other's stature until it was stopped by Momonga's order. Upon every Floor Guardian's arrival, she pays her due respect alongside the rest of them by getting on their knees and bowing down to the Overlord. At the same time, she would describe her loyalty to Ainz as the incarnation of beauty above all to be worshiped under.[1]
Once Momonga teleports from the Amphitheater, Shalltear is the last person to rise from her feet, as she still feels terribly excited and awed by the aura he was emitting all this time during the meeting. Not letting this comment from Shalltear go unnoticed, Albedo gets into a cat-fight with here intimidatingly. While trading insults and rebuttals at each other, Shalltear began discussing the last topic of their heated argument over who will become Momonga's first wife. In the end, Shalltear decided to put aside that matter with Albedo for another time in order to focus on their respective task at hand.[2]
The Emissary of the King Arc
- Main article: The Emissary of the King Arc
Shalltear receives a visit from a Death Knight sent by Ainz Ooal Gown at her residence. The vampire hastily has her Vampire Brides dress her readily in order to be presentable. Greeting the undead with the utmost respect, she shows and guides it into her home. Shalltear talks with the undead who asks her questions relayed by her master. The first question is whether or not she is feeling alright, to which the vampire responds, stating that as an undead, she is immune to most status effects and hence, she should be in good health. Afterwards, Shalltear tells the Death Knight that she knows of there being special effects that can affect the condition of the undead, inquiring it if such effects have finally appeared at last, but the latter says no. She assumes Ainz asked that kind of question in order to keep the Floor Guardians like them on their toes and be vigilant at all times.
Curious, she also asks the Death Knight the reason why it came to her first instead of the other Floor Guardians beforehand, asking the being if it was because she is a long-distance away from where Ainz is at. Upon hearing the Death Knight repeat his answer twice that Ainz sees her as an important person to him, she goes deaf for a moment and laughs hysterically, wishing Albedo was around to hear this. Once Shalltear inquires the Death Knight if her master had made any mentions about Albedo, its response results in her becoming extremely happy as she learns that her master did not. Later, as the Death Knight questions Shalltear about anything that's been bothering her lately, she informs it that there is nothing personal troubling her. When the Death Knight offers the final question to her about what she wishes from the Overlord, she wants to be Ainz's first love.[3]
The Guardians' Vacation Arc
- Main article: The Guardians' Vacation Arc
When Ainz suggested giving the Guardians vacation off from their work time, Shalltear didn't think taking a break to rest is necessary for herself as she is an undead. However, what she said was met with a rebuttal from Ainz much to her shock, not knowing until now that undead can also end up feeling tiresome too like the living. She later got into a short quarrel with Aura about each other's potential growth span.
In the end, Shalltear decided to heed his master's wish and took a break. She spent that time in private with the other Guardians concerning their master's health and well-being while he was tirelessly working for hours on end. While analyzing the health examination result for Ainz, she thought the term "liver" was referring to the internal organs which could be considered special for a Supreme Being who had one.[4]
The Dark Warrior Arc
- Main article: The Dark Warrior Arc
Shalltear seeks an audience with her master Ainz. After greeting and lavishing kind words to Ainz admiringly, she starts bickering with Albedo. As Shalltear spouted insults back and forth with the Overseer, they were quickly reprimanded by their master to stop. Getting back to the main topic of why she was here to visit her master, Shalltear informs Ainz that she will be meeting up with Sebas Tian afterward in order to fulfill the task set out for her. Since she may not be able to return to Nazarick for some time, Shalltear wanted to go out of her way and bid farewell to her master before she leaves to do her mission to capture talented Martial Arts' users.[5]
After Ainz resolves the E-Rantel Cemetery Incident with Narberal Gamma, Albedo informs him that Shalltear has rebelled against him.[6]
The Bloody Valkyrie Arc
- Main article: The Bloody Valkyrie Arc
While Ainz was masquerading as an adventurer, Shalltear is given the task of accompanying Sebas and Solution and enslaving any criminals who knew Martial Arts or magic. Shalltear converses with Sebas on their journey, explaining to the butler the reason why she and Aura have a complex relationship built around their creators. She recalls the times when several Supreme Beings made their rounds on her floors. Along the way, Shalltear expresses great interest in uncovering the mystery of the 8th Floor and ponder what sort of powerful beings resides on that location. She and Sebas discussed about the possibility of deathtraps hidden on the 8th Floor that indiscriminately kills anyone who enters it. She learns from the butler that Ainz's personal NPC creation was Pandora's Actor and not someone from the 8th Floor. Meanwhile, she informs Sebas and corrected his misconception about Bukubukuchagama's power as a seiyuu. On the other hand, she allows Solution Epsilon permission to have Zach before their carriage ride comes to an end.
When the conversation turns toward her mission, Sebas' remark that Demiurge or Aura would have been a better candidate immediately causes Shalltear to enter a fit of rage about it. She threatens him with the prospect of a death battle, but slowly cools down when he apologizes. She holds reservations about the possibility of losing control from her Blood Frenzy, but still resolves to complete her mission without fail in the hopes of obtaining Ainz's praises.
At this point, the carriage suddenly stops and they are surrounded by a group of bandits much to her delight. Seeing that the men prove to be no challenge for the NPCs and not what she was looking for whatsoever, Shalltear and her Vampire Brides waste no time in slaughtering them. The last man Shalltear left alive from the group of bandits to not be killed was their leader, who she forced into submission out of terror and fear. In order to spare his life as part of their agreement, Shalltear made him obediently lick her high-heeled shoes clean of the brain matter after playfully crushing his fellow bandit’s skull underfoot which she had beheaded prior. Shortly thereafter, she had order her Vampire Brides to turn the leader into a Lesser Vampire and then engaged in a brief discussion with Solution about how the slime maid handles the fate of Zach. Having already found out where the bandits' hideout is at, she soon parted ways with the group of two now being Sebas and Solution to invade it.[7]
While entering the nearby forest where potentially more people could be, they came across a Bear Trap that put a halt to one of the Vampire Brides from carrying and transporting Shalltear to the enemy hideout. After removing the trap and briefly interrogating the Lesser Vampire about how close they are to the hideout, she and her Vampire Brides resume their movement and eventually come across their intended destination. There, Shalltear and her Vampire Brides proceed to engage in a frontal assault with the bandits, throwing the Lesser Vampire as a long-range strike at one of their enemy sentries to initiate the start of the battle much to her amusement. She proceeds to have the Vampire Brides pick up a random rock on the ground and hand it to her to throw at the enemy sentries once more until they were finally alarm of their presence. She commands one of her two Vampire Brides to keep watch on top of a tree and make sure nobody escape while the other one is given the order to act as her vanguard, luring out and engaging any foe in combat who is stronger than the bandits they killed.
Trying to fill up her Blood Pool without much success, Shalltear soon comes across Brain Unglaus, who confidently meets with them alone. Feeling playful, she decides to toy with the mercenary on several occasions during the battle between the two, allowing him the chance to attack her fearlessly. Throughout the battle, she doesn't even bother to attack back in retaliation against Brain or evade his strikes but encouragingly enough, provoke the latter to try harder with each attempt of striking her down. When Shalltear effortlessly deflect and parry all of Brain's attacks, he had a mental breakdown from realizing every skill he used on the vampire were powerless to defeat her. As Brain runs away in fear for his life, Shalltear leisurely gives chase after the warrior, following him to the mercenary's main hideout while believing it is a game of tag. When she came across a huge number of prey in front of her, she realizes her game of tag came to an end and that the next game which is hide and seek was about to begin with her next preys. Seeing and imagining all this, she begins to lose control of herself while Blood Frenzy activates and override her thought process. Hence, she transforms into her True Vampire form and engage the remaining bandits in combat, toying with their lives and draining them of blood much to her pleasure. In the end, although they tried to put up a fight against Shalltear, she ended up easily and thoughtlessly wiping out the entire base without question, leaving no one alive except her and the Vampire Brides afterward.
After annihilating them and slowly coming back to her senses, Shalltear frustratingly realizes that Brain has escaped through a tunnel exit that was not known to her by the Lesser Vampire. Her Vampire Brides inform Shalltear that there is an unknown group approaching them. With the murderous impulse to spill more blood because of [Blood Frenzy], she confronts the group and slaughter every one of them in her true form once again until the last of them remain standing. Shalltear left only one alive, after being slightly damaged by the potion that was thrown at her. Knowing that potion was commonly used back in the tomb, she was curious what that woman's relation to Nazarick is, having decided to spare her unharmed and then mind-control her for interrogation. Shalltear asks the female adventurer her name and to question her on how she was able to obtain that potion. After being questioned about the team she is part of and figuring out her master's connections with the woman, Shalltear immediately summons the Vampire Wolf to hunt down the two humans (a ranger from Brita's group and Brain) in the forest that she let escape accidentally.
When the Vampire Brides report to her that they found several women in the interior, she decided to leave them be with Brita. Shortly thereafter, Shalltear senses that her familiars were killed in action. Sensing their deaths, she quickly moves to the location where it was supposedly slain at. Shalltear arrives and encounters a new group that she quickly notices are much stronger than the previous one. After deciding what her next course of action will be which is to capture them in order to make up for her previous mistakes, Shalltear attempts to carry out her new objective. Despite springing into action, Shalltear realizes she made a fatal mistake, as the former was soon hit by a dangerous power that thwarts her attack for just a moment. Unable to stop it on time, she retaliates back with a powerful attack of her own that hits two of its members before everything else goes dark on her end.[8]
Shalltear became consciously awoke to find herself attack by Ainz's super-tier spell, feeling utterly confused and lost on having the mindset to kill him despite the latter being her master. However, knowing that she sustained damage from Ainz, Shalltear considers her former master an enemy that needs to be slain by her own hands. Although she had no idea why she had to oppose her beloved master, her mind told her that it was not an important question to mull over. To Shallear, all she had to do was kill him and then ponder the matter at length afterward. During that battle, she even poke fun and mockery at Ainz that her creator Peroroncino was superior to him. She couldn't help but feel sorry for her master being at a disadvantage such as his summons being useless against her power and not having the same level of equipment as her. Nonetheless, despite being brainwashed, Shalltear still show a degree of admiration and respect towards Ainz and his abilities for at least trying to put up a fight against her without holding back. Over the course of the battle the death battle between the two, she and her master kept exchanging blows at each other with tier spells but to a greater extent, where she also landed attacks on him with her skills.
Throughout the battle, she had depleted all her MP and use up all her skills in order to drain Ainz's MP close to zero. Shalltear realizes that although Ainz has almost no more mana points left, she is somewhat irritated and annoyed at his calm behavior when he's on the verge of dying and struggling to combat her. However, Shalltear's sense of unease and frustration grew further when she learns from her former master that he had been controlling the flow of their battle from the very beginning. Knowing that the tables are turned on her by Ainz with his guild members' equipment, including her creator's weapon, Shalltear keeps fighting to the death until the bitter end. At last, she was finally killed by Ainz's super-tier spell, Fallen Down.[9] Later, after the battle concluded, Shalltear is later revived by Ainz in the Throne Room using 500,000,000 YGGDRASIL gold. Once she woke up naked, Shalltear was no longer under the mind control of their enemy's World Item and was devastated to discover her breast pads were gone. Despite being resurrected to life, she doesn't seem to remember what happened and continues her duties in Nazarick. Shalltear was informed by Demiurge about what she had done to her master Ainz while under a mind-control state by the unknown user of the World Item.[10]
The Show Must Go On!
- Main article: The Show Must Go On! Arc
During a meeting with the Floor Guardians, a productive conversation of fringe benefits dissolves into a fierce war of words between Shalltear and Albedo over their love for Ainz, prompting their master to dismiss the meeting. Shalltear wanders around the 10th Floor moaning about how she was scolded by Ainz. At the same time, she notices someone in the Great Library of Ashurbanipal. She sees Albedo suspiciously going through several books, before gleefully selecting one, overhearing how it will bring her closer to Ainz. Shalltear begins to do a thorough investigation and learns from one of the Homunculus Maids that Albedo is trying to put together a play production. One play, in particular, Romeo and Juliet. However, she finds out that Albedo has designated herself as Juliet and Ainz as Romeo in a plot to steal a kiss from him in the final scene. She brings this knowledge to Ainz's attention and demands that a fair selection be made amongst the Floor Guardians. Demiurge, who was also informed by Shalltear, also agrees to her proposal.
Three days before the auditions, she catches Albedo manipulating Ainz to allow her to kiss him to 'help' her in her acting skills. Furious by Albedo's attempt to steal a kiss from Ainz, Shalltear launches a Purifying Javelin at the Overseer Guardian. The two women begin to bicker, infuriating the Overlord at their immaturity, causing him to leave thereafter. Despite earning Ainz's scorn yet again, Shalltear is confident that she will win. Two days later, it is revealed that Shalltear had approached Aura to vote for her, in exchange for Kal Kan. Later on, she approaches Cocytus and tries to win his vote by offering him the role of Tybalt but is furiously rebuked.
On the day of the audition, Shalltear is the first to perform. Using a pillow in the likeness of Ainz, she notices something has been smeared on the lips of the duplicate. Suspecting it to be poison put there by Albedo, Shalltear continues her performance, confident that her racial immunity will leave her immune. When the performances are done, the votes are in and the results happen to be 1:1, making the competition a draw. It's revealed that Demiurge subtly manipulated the voting process to ensure that neither would win as it would damage the two's relationship in the future. After it's revealed that both Shalltear and Albedo bribed one of the judges, both of them are disqualified.[11]

The Lizard Man Heroes Arc

Feeling a sense of guilt still about raising her weapon against Ainz, she pays a visit to the 9th Floor. There, Shalltear found herself in Sous-chef's bar which she rarely goes to. However, at the bar, she is in a state of depression about her rebellion against Ainz. Shalltear was given a drink called "Maiden's Tears" which Sous-chef made up to quell Shalltear's sadness. When asked what's wrong by the Sous-chef, Shalltear initially refuses to talk about the reason why she is depressed. Feeling supposedly drunk to her, Shalltear was later greeted by Éclair Éklair Éklare who ask the former what made her become deeply heartbroken and dejected. Shalltear informs Éclair that she made a terrible mistake and had chosen to visit the bar where she can drown her sorrows in drink. In the hopes of trying to change her gloomy mood and cheer her up, Shalltear was offer a glass of apple juice that was made with apples harvested on the 6th Floor. After taking a sip, Shalltear listen to the news of there being more future residents inside Nazarick much to her displeasure. She was displeased to hear that they get to freely roam Nazarick's lairs built by the 41 Supreme Beings. Learning that it was her master Ainz's decision to allow them free passage into Nazarick, Shalltear loudly proclaim of not wanting to defy his wishes because of her feelings. When Éclair tried recruiting Shalltear to work under him after already being aware of the vampire's betrayal to Ainz, she shrieks at the thought of ever pledging loyalty to it than her master.[13]
After Cocytus lost the war against the lizardmen, Shalltear attended a meeting with the rest of her fellow Floor Guardians about his defeat. Before the meeting began though, Shalltear was introduced to the 9th Floor Guardian, Victim by Demiurge. During the meeting, she pleaded Ainz to hand down punishment to her, begging her master that she cannot allow her own sinful actions of causing harm to him go unpunished. Even after learning that she had been mind controlled, Shalltear still cannot forgive herself for turning her lance on Ainz. Feeling overwhelmed by Ainz's show of kindness despite her betrayal, she broke down into tears seeing her master go to great lengths in order to console her which the latter wipe it out with a white handkerchief. She also appears flabbergasted by hearing Ainz said that he loved her, erasing the former's unease and fear that the latter will abandon her due to her disloyalty. Shalltear was comforted by her master to not dwell on the thought any longer, promising the former that she will be given the punishment she adamantly wants. Agreeing with Albedo's words that a punishment is in order, she wishes to have it be carry out for her own sake, hoping the chance to finally express and renew her loyalty.
Shalltear, along with the other Floor Guardians, were present during the gathering of Nazarick's forces led by Ainz who threatens and intimidate the lizardmen so that they'll become part of Nazarick.[14] After that, while waiting for Cocytus to finish preparing his battle with the lizardmen, Shalltear was handed down an appropriate form of punishment by Ainz. In order to atone for her treacherous rebellion, Shalltear had no other choice but to become his chair to sit on. Heeding Ainz's order, Shalltear got on her hands and knees while kneeling down and having her head lowered. While Ainz was being seated and mounted on top of Shalltear, she can't help but seemingly view this punishment as a reward to her. As Ainz continues on discussing and conversing with the rest of the Floor Guardians, Shalltear would silently squirm, moan, and pant in pleasure at the sight of having her master dominate her position.[15]
The Search for Hamsuke Arc
- Main article: The Search for Hamsuke Arc
On the 1st Floor, Hamsuke ends up getting lost while doing her mission. As a result, she is now trying to find her way back to the 6th Floor. As several of Shalltear's undead try to approach her, the hamster panics, running deeper into the tomb. Learning about it from her undead underlings, Shalltear reports back to Ainz concerning Hamsuke's whereabouts. When Shalltear begins to bicker with Albedo, Ainz decides to have the two paired up together to find Hamsuke, but also with the intention of improving their relationship.
In the end, Shalltear and Albedo manage to finally find Hamsuke on the 2nd Floor, but alongside Aura and Mare who already reached her before the two arrived. Despite Shalltear's excitement at finding Hamsuke, she is actually shocked to see an insect on top of the hamster's head and intimidates the beast not to get anywhere near her. After finishing her task, she and her fellow female Floor Guardians later go to Spa Resort Nazarick to relax. During their stay there, both Shalltear and Albedo converse with each other on the topic concerning their chest sizes respectively which brings forth a new conflict to ensue.[16]
The Two Leaders Arc
- Main article: The Two Leaders Arc
Among the trio consisting of Albedo and Aura, Shalltear takes a break from her role as a Floor Guardian under Ainz's orders and is willing to spend time elsewhere with them on the 6th Floor. She was present to see Albedo showcase her summoning of her Bicorn while the latter explains its abilities. When Aura recommends Albedo give the Bicorn a name, Shalltear suddenly thought of a great idea that she would like to share with them. Shalltear suggests that they could try asking Kyouhukou about the way of naming a familiar as the latter excels at summoning its comrades.
However, upon mentioning that particular Area Guardian, she felt entirely gross out by how the discussion switch to the manner in which Kyouhukou's familiars act around them. For that reason, she pleaded the two to stop talking about it as that subject is making her feel itchy all of a sudden. Shalltear told them that although she was in-charge of the 2nd Floor including the area where Kyouhukou was stationed in, she expresses her wish not to visit there, viewing it to be nothing more than a place of horror. Hearing from Albedo that Entoma call Kyouhukou's area a snack room, she disgustingly vows to not go near Entoma ever again.
Later, as Albedo tries to mount her Bicorn, the mount began to collapse from her touch for unknown reason which shocked Shalltear. Seeing this, Shalltear believe that perhaps it was because Albedo had some weight issue, growing too fat and heavy for the bicorn to carry steadily. Along the way, Shalltear was teased by both Aura and Albedo of her own failure for not being able to properly execute her previous mission from before assigned by Ainz. According to Shalltear, all she had done recently were mistakes on her part while lamenting on it. Although Shalltear remains frustrated and dismayed over her past mistakes, she ends up quickly dismissing it shortly thereafter. Since Demiurge is not around to assist Albedo on the issue of riding her Bicorn, Shalltear figures this was a good opportunity to help Albedo out and prove herself useful during situations like these.
With help from an item that Ainz has rewarded her, Shalltear is able to lend Albedo a hand on the matter of knowledge of why she can't ride the Bicorn freely despite her summoning it. Shockingly, while reading through the page on Bicorn, she discovers that these kinds of creatures have included a certain condition, where even for its own summoners to conjure it, they must also be non-virgins for one to ride them freely. After reading this, Shalltear and Aura have also learned from Albedo that despite being a succubus, the Overseer is still a virgin. Not knowing enough, Shalltear decided to look for a page on Succubus to further research herself on Albedo's race. When
When Albedo harshly question the vampire about her love life, Shalltear reveals that she has only been with girls from her experience. She reasons that there aren't any good men around to satisfy her specific lust such as liking the dead but not ones that are rotten corpses. She tries to look toward Aura for approval of her taste, but neither the latter nor Albedo found it hard to understand and accept her strange fetish as appealing. As Albedo realizes that she needs Ainz to break her non-virgin status in order to ride her Bicorn, Shalltear was quick to deem it sly. Shalltear calls Albedo out for not being able to obtain Ainz’s love without using her official duties as an excuse. She reasons it to be saddening for a woman like Albedo who can't win Ainz's heart over with her charm alone. Without being able to ride the Bicorn, Shallear mockingly views Albedo to be weaker than before, trying to get back at the Overseer for delighting on her suffering.
Afterwards, Shalltear and the two begins exploring the Green Hole from within the 6th Floor of Nazarick, discussing the modified changes that they did with it. Since she have already been to that location and visited the new residents there, Shalltear was apparently concern that Albedo did not know about it beforehand but the former until Aura reasonably explains why there is no intruder who can escape Nazarick alive. To this extent, they also converse over what agenda may Ainz be possibly planning to do in the near future for what's to come regarding Nazarick and its new inhabitants like the Mandrakes. Nevertheless, they all agree that everything that has transpired until now is going according to Ainz's plan and the expenses in managing Nazarick is being handled smoothly. Shalltear also asked about what Mare's duty was in managing this floor. When asked by how she wants to eat tomato dishes from Sous-chef, she was annoyed that everyone think Vampires like herself enjoyed tomato juice when it is not her interest. While on the 6th Floor, she even spares some time to pet a Spear Needle, caressing it nonstop and being informed by Aura the creature's abilities and the latter's way of controlling it. Since it was finally time for Aura to resume her duty, Shalltear and Albedo also parted ways shortly, thereafter, promising the two that they will see each other again in the bath.
Later, Shalltear and the two female Floor Guardians later join together at the Spa Resort Nazarick to take a bath together. She and Albedo were restrained by Aura to be on their best behavior and not try to invade the men's bath where their master was at with the male Floor Guardians. Meanwhile, Shalltear discusses with Albedo and Aura about things like Ainz not needing permission from them to peek at the women's bath. Additionally, she advised Albedo to not use her toothbrush in brushing and washing her teeth in the bathroom. Realizing that it can't be help due to Albedo's situation, Shalltear decided to let it slide. When asked by Aura if she is going to brush like Albedo too, Shalltear said she will do it on her own time in her room. Nevertheless, Shalltear appears worry whether she can get cavities from taking this kind of bath. Although she and Aura were initially upset at the fact that Albedo jump into the bath under her true form, that thought quickly went away when they were alarm by the male voice of a Lion Golem going off. As a result, she and the two were forced to engage in combat with the Lion Golem while Ainz and the male Floor Guardians came into the women's bath to assist them.[17]

Confronting her master again at the second meeting alongside the other Guardians, she shows Ainz her brassiere made by a master smith with two of the gold coins he bestowed upon her.
In a meeting among the Floor Guardians, Sebas, and Narberal, Shalltear thinks there has to be something specific in the marketplace Ainz wants to familiarize them with. This leads to her getting made fun of by her fellow Floor Guardians as she says something smart for once, which amuses Aura and Demiurge.
During another meeting with Ainz, Shalltear presents her master a protective charm she purchased with Momon's scent on it to wear.[19]

In other words, due to Demiurge's awareness of her [Blood Frenzy], Shalltear is placed on mobile support duty, where she will be on standby for a while throughout Operation Gehenna. She tries to convince him that the Spuit Lance will drain the enemies' blood dry before it has the less likely chance to trigger but failed.[22] On a rooftop, she encounters Brain Unglaus but doesn't remember meeting him previously because she lost her memory about it. She approaches him in a similar manner like last time, hoping to toy with her opponent for the meantime. While Brain engages with Shalltear in battle, she surprisingly realizes that he's targeting her fingernail and succeeds in cutting it. As Shalltear tries to catch Brain, she comes to a halt upon seeing Climb and decides to stop her pursuit.[23]

When Shalltear was given the order to let one of the members of Foresight have a painless death, she was tasked with hunting down and killing Arche, who was allowed to escape from the Amphitheater by Ainz intentionally. For this reason, Shalltear was ordered to teach Arche the meaning of terror, the gulf between the sliver of hope for escape that the latter clings to, and the inescapable reality that awaits all who dare invade the Great Tomb of Nazarick. As a result, during a game of tag, Shalltear lets her prey run away for a specific period of time until she catches up to her. While encouraging the girl to keep trying to run for her life, Shalltear calls on her familiars to chase her down. Once Arche finds out that she's still underground, Shalltear captures the girl after defeating her and making her fall into absolute despair. While holding her in a lover's embrace, Shalltear kills her while she is unconscious. Following through with Ainz's order, Shalltaer did not cause Arche any pain, but slay her with the deepest and sincerest mercy.[24]

Shalltear is present in the throne room during and after Emperor Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix and his imperial entourage visit to the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Like Cocytus, Shalltlear does not appear to understand why her master give the human emperor a position as a collaborator when she believes they could have conquered the Empire by force. However, after she listens to Demiurge's prediction of the Emperor's scheme to oppose Nazarick, Shalltear recommends turning him into a vampire to serve Nazarick, but her idea is rejected in favor of a different approach made by Ainz's plan. To decide on a fitting name for her master, Shalltear suggests they give Ainz the title that is Beautiful King. When Demiurge calls the Emperor a foolish creature for not knowing that bowing his head and licking Ainz’s boots is the wisest course of action, Shalltear figures if it was her in that human's position, she would be licking his body instead.[25] Later on, Shalltear answers Ainz's order to transport an army of five hundred undead using her [Gate] spell at the Katze Plains.[26]

The Craftsman of Dwarf Arc

As per the usual duties, Shalltear accompanied by Entoma visited the Lizardman Village. Once there, with permission from Ainz, she opens up a [Gate] specifically at the time 13:46 before sending over a lizardman envoy Kyuku Zuzu to her master.
Alongside Aura, Shalltear herself was informed by Ainz to have been chosen among the very few Floor Guardians to accompany the latter on his travels to the Dwarf Kingdom. Not only that but Shalltear was tasked of ensuring her master's safety while traveling there with him. As a result, she temporarily hands her usual surveillance duty and Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown over to Mare since she plans to be away for a while to be with her master. After informing Mare about it, she arrived at Ainz's quarters in E-Rantel to hear more of the task explained in detail by Ainz. Upon coming into his room fully equipped with the mindset of protecting Ainz and exterminating whoever opposes him, Shalltear was informed by her master that his plans are to forge friendly relations with the Dwarf Kingdom and not destroy them much to her surprise. Feeling confused, Shalltear wonders if she was really needed for this expedition until Ainz told the former that she is still going to be traveling by his side in order to protect him regardless.
For this journey, Shalltear was placed by Ainz under Aura's command which the former must follow orders accordingly to. When deciding on which vassals to take with them on their expedition, Shalltear was ordered to bring six Vampire Brides and thirty riders from Nazarick, five of which are Hanzos with her while the remaining are undead beings. Once she and Aura left Ainz's room to recruit their familiars, Shalltear engages in a private discussion with her fellow Floor Guardian about their current mission on this operation. She was excited to have the chance in making up for her past mistake, redeeming her usefulness to her master and everyone else. Shalltear recalls Demiurge singling her out from Operation Gehenna, sadly causing the former to believe in herself as useless and thinking that others including Ainz must have felt the same. However, Shalltear was reassured by Aura that their master Ainz is not wrong in his decision to picking her than Demiurge did with his plans. Shalltear learned from Aura that Ainz is looking to test her flexibility and how she will be exposed to various difficult situations. She was encouraged to take notes and study her surroundings very carefully while traveling with Ainz.[29]
After assembling their vassals back in Nazarick, Shalltear and Aura accompanied them to the lakeside near the Lizardman village through [Gate]. When Ainz got done discussing with Cocytus and recruiting Zenberu into their expedition group, she alongside them began traveling north in search for the Dwarf Kingdom. Upon reaching the northernmost end of the lake, it was decided by her master that they will be setting up camp there for tonight before heading out for the Azerlisia Mountains where the Dwarf Kingdom is situated in. Although she expresses her wish to return to Nazarick and retrieve a suitable tent for Ainz to sleep in this location, Shalltear's concern was dismiss when her master easily created a fortress for them to camp themselves in. She, Aura, Zenberu, and her master discussed what their next course of action will be which is to continue heading north as planned. After the meeting was over, she starts jotting notes down on her memo pad of every word Ainz had say in detail along with the actions taken by him. She was advised by Aura to simply record the important things and use them to teach herself on how to deal with similar situations. Not only that, but Shalltear had to consider adopting the same mindset as Ainz, putting herself in her master's place as to what she would do in his shoes.
During the expedition's investigations of the abandoned dwarven city, Shalltear was given the security task of protecting Ainz, fully armed and armored while carefully surveying her surroundings at all times. Not finding any clues as of yet, Shalltear took command of the undead and act as the lookouts for the expedition team while Aura goes and search the city. She also refrains her master Ainz to not fly on air, where possible enemies can draw a clear line of fire on him. Ainz decided to leave perimeter security to Shalltear in handling on the job. Before her master tries investigating other buildings, he discovered, Shalltear suggests Ainz calls Aura back first, feeling like things might become very troublesome if an ambush happens there. Seeing that a trail had been uncovered by the dark elf, Shalltear stood by behind Aura to protect her. Upon reaching the building, Shalltear rebuke Aura's request to accompany Ainz, reasoning which the dark elf needs to keep watch of her surroundings and stay where she is at so that the latter won't be affected by possible defensive spells being triggered by her master's action. When that was done, Shalltear and Zenberu followed suit after Ainz have verified that the building is safe from traps. After spotting new footprints belonging to a dwarf, Shalltear was ordered to be on standby and guard the entrance of the hidden tunnel.
Once Ainz returns with Gondo Firebeard, Shalltear immediately report news to her master that she found Quagoa infiltrating the hidden tunnel. Shalltear was given a new mission to handle the operation of capturing the Quagoas which she had accomplished on doing. Her next order by Ainz was to interrogate the Quagoa one by one without inflicting any harm to them. While Shalltear uses [Charm Species] on a high-ranking Quagoa to learn valuable information about who they are and for what reason plus plans for being in this abandoned dwarven city, everyone else including Ainz quietly listens to the interrogation handled by her. When her interrogation came to an end, Shalltear transported the captured Quagoa in Feo Raidho back to Nazarick via opening up a [Gate]. At the same time, she relays other orders from Ainz to the Nazarick Old Guarders of needing to conduct light experiments on the Quagoa. Much to her happiness, she was praised by Ainz for maintaining the interrogation smoothly from start to end without problem.[30]
Arriving at Feo Jera, she alongside Aura and Zenberu accompanies Ainz during his meeting with the Regency Council. Before the meeting between her master and the Council begin, she and Aura work together to help inspect Ainz's clothing for this occasion. When Ainz's talks of negotiation happen with the dwarven runesmiths, Shalltear made sure to direct everyone's attention on her master so that her master could reason with them. She and Aura can't help but lavish praises at their master for convincing the runesmiths and winning their hearts over to him.[31]
During the mission of recapturing Feo Berkana, when Shalltear was asked to have a one-on-one talk with Ainz, it involves her master's concern with his two Death Knights that died. She was informed to not go all out on the ones supposedly responsible for killing the Death Knights as it could help the opposition gain more intel on them including her fighting abilities. Heeding Ainz's concern, Shalltear obliges to everything he says such as what other ways she can do to respond to circumstances about powerful foes. Encountering the young Frost Dragon Hejinmal and seeing how it peed upon submitting to Aura, Shalltear was convinced by Ainz that was how it normally went one of the 41 Supreme Beings' pet dog. Hearing her master's reasoning, Shalltear asked Ainz if it was fine for, she and Aura to do the same act of peeing as Hejinmal to show their loyalty, to which the latter and the elf refrain her from doing altogether. She and Aura soon parted ways with Ainz and Gondo as they were given a new mission by their master to be the two to deal with the Quagoa race. While on their mission, the two discuss about Ainz's predictions regarding the Death Knights and how their master intentionally set his undead minions up to be defeated in the hopes of keeping herself on guard. In the middle of carrying out the mission, she not only kill off a majority of the Quagoa, but orders the leader of its race to have its kind do the killing on their own people according to the minimum who can survive. She and Aura later on, accomplished the mission in regard to curving the Quagoa's population and having it submit under Ainz's rule.
After curving the race's population, she and Aura brought the remaining Quagoa before the Sorcerer King Ainz and then transport them along with the corpses of two dead Frost Dragons inside Nazarick. She express her thanks to Ainz for allowing herself the opportunity on this expedition to cleanse the previous mistake that she had made on her first mission. When Ainz was about to brought up the subject about the fate of the Death Knights, she immediately apologizes to him, falling to her knees crying about his kindness to disgrace himself for her sake. She explains to Ainz that he made this mistake on purpose with the intention of intending her to learn which the latter plays along with her misunderstanding. Shalltear was comforted by her master once again as he takes out the handkerchief to wipe the tearful stain on her face, telling the former that she was indeed useful to him.
Sometime later, Shalltear was put in command of the subjugated Frost Dragons.[32]
Shalltear's Travel Diary Arc
- Main article: Shalltear's Travel Diary Arc
During the night when Ainz's entourage, while heading to the Dwarf Kingdom, camps out in a fortress he created, Shalltear begins reciting what she overheard from her master. She is overheard by Aura, who after knocking on the vampire's several times, barges in to find Shalltear reciting lines from her notebook. Their discussion somehow leads both women in doing imagination training, fantasizing about being useful to Ainz.
Shalltear in her fantasy, imagines Albedo being beaten by a strong enemy before Ainz. The vampire appears to save Ainz from trouble, and when her master offers to reward her, she declines, impressing him that he asks her to stay by his side and embrace him. Shalltear takes great detail in embellishing her physical features, regarding her non-existent chest, which Aura pokes holes at.
This upsets Shalltear, with the vampire asking how Aura would like to be praised by Ainz. Aura then gives her account of her imagining herself saving Ainz when he is surrounded by monsters and she defeats them with her many pets, and also depicting Albedo of being useless due to arriving late when the enemy is already defeated. Upon hearing that all Aura wants is to spend a day with Ainz, she finds that to be such a small demand, but it is enough for the dark elf.
Even though it is a fantasy, Aura worries if they are being disrespectful to Ainz, though is convinced by Shalltear that their conversation falls within Peroroncino's approval of women's private talk and thus is confidential. Both women agree to keep their fantasies a secret, especially from Albedo.
The next morning, they are greeted by Ainz, who asks how their night was. The two mistakenly think that Ainz knows about their musing from last night and apologize, begging for punishment. Though Ainz is confused, states that there is nothing wrong, as he believes they were just chatting about their creators, and that their privacy is important. The two women find Ainz to be such a gentle being and become more motivated in the mission to the Dwarf Kingdom.[33]
Nazarick Mythology Arc
- Main article: Nazarick Mythology Arc
Shalltear attends a meeting arranged between the Floor Guardians and Sebas to devise a myth of Ainz Ooal Gown, hoping to incorporate her ideal story into human society if approved from Ainz. Being the second person to start after Sebas's story came to an end, Shalltear narrates and portrays her myth as the beginning of the world to be one filled with nothing but utter misery where death did not exist. That was only until Ainz Ooal Gown introduced the concept of death to the world, relieving it and the people from suffering and turning it into a wonderful place for the Overlord to rule over with her by his side as the vampire princess. In the end, it is believed that Shalltear's story was obviously an attempt to incorporate her own fetish with Ainz, yet ends up getting criticized by her peers. They figured that it would just confuse humans of how the living came to be when the undead reigned in the past.[34]
The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc
- Main article: The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc
In the Audience Room, with permission from the Floor Guardian Overseer, Shalltear brought along Hilma Cygnaeus to present her master Ainz a witness who can explain their questions about the attack on the Sorcerer Kingdom's trade caravan of grains. Every Floor Guardian including Shalltear during the meeting, approved of the punishment Ainz has suggested for Hilma Cygnaeus to do. When that matter was concluded, under Ainz's order, Shalltear escort Hilma out of the meeting via the Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown and the [Gate] spell. Once she returns to the Audience Room shortly thereafter, the discussion about Philip resumes where it left off while the Overseer explains their strategy for the Fall of the Re-Estize Kingdom.
With Ainz permitting questions to be asked by the Floor Guardians, Shalltear was the third person after Cocytus to question the strategy of their operation. Shalltear wanted to inform them that even if Philip was manipulated into doing what he did, she still believes it would constitute an attack against the Sorcerer Kingdom. Taking it into consideration, she suggests her master and fellow colleagues that they are better off using this attack initiated by Philip as a casus belli to begin invading the Kingdom in response.[35]
Since one month have pass by after the Sorcerer Kingdom's declaration of war, Shalltear was among one of the Floor Guardians to have been able to successfully lay siege on territories be it a city or village within the Re-Estize Kingdom. Ainz even went out of his way to voice his acknowledgement of Shalltear's unique strategies as it happens to be the most creative than what the other Floor Guardians have chosen to do. One of Shalltear's strategies was dropping soldiers like Soul Eaters from the sky using the Frost Dragons. According to her master, she had not just used dragon breaths for hit-and-run tactics, but to drop Soul Eaters from 500 meters above into the city. Her strategy even involves making use of the Soul Eaters' power to consume souls and converting it to HP as a way to negate the fall damage taken by the units almost immediately. She would let the Soul Eaters heal themselves after the drop-off, before then having them begin rampaging through the city killing masses with their aura.
After seeing the flying armor giant destroy both the Death Knight and the Death Warrior, Shalltear was among those besides Demiurge and Cocytus to discover the reason why Ainz did not sent so many forces into the city of E-Naeurl. She noted that her master already knew about the flying armor giant inevitably appearing at the city ahead of time and felt it was the reason behind why Ainz did not bother to sent in a strong force to begin with. This earned her praise from Demiurge and he commends her for figuring out their master's plan. Later during the meeting, Shalltear was ordered by her master to bring back the undead they had sent out using [Gate]. At the same time, she was also given the command to gather together their main forces including the Nazarick Master Guarders in E-Rantel and be the one to initiate the siege on the enemy's capital city Re-Estize.[36]
A day after the Re-Estize Kingdom mobilized its forces against the Sorcerer Kingdom's army, Shalltear visited a mansion owned by Eight Fingers to collect the thousand refugees that would be taken to the Sorcerer Kingdom. At Prian Polson's request she assisted in transporting the refugees' luggage through the gate using her undead. The people and Executive Council crossed the [Gate] and appeared in a village in a forest. There Noah Zweden called everyone to attention to allow Shalltear to speak. She informed the new citizens that the location was a temporary home as their real village was still under construction. In the meantime, for a week, they would make do and be provided with four golems and several undead for work and protection. She later took the newly freed Ampetif Cocco Doll with her with the intent to introduce him to Kyouhukou to be educated on being loyal to Nazarick.
Later on, it was revealed that Shalltear had observed the battle between Pandora's Actor as Ainz Ooal Gown and the mysterious foe Riku Aganeia via a Mirror of Remote Viewing alongside Demiurge and her master Ainz. Once Pandora's Actor and Albedo returned to Nazarick to deliver their reports, Shalltear, who had been observing the battle, estimated Riku to be around level 85 or so. Though like Albedo and Pandora's Actor, they were unsure if the opponent was a tank that specialized in magic resistance with Shalltear admitting she may have gotten the wrong impression of Riku's abilities. She thought that the Doom Lord summoned by Pandora's Actor was much weaker than it normally is until Ainz rectified her concern, reasoning that it was due to the doppelgänger not being allowed to use its full power enhanced by his creator's form. As Riku's abilities were disconcerting as they are similar to a World Item and yet not, this raised a question on whether the work of Shalltear's brainwashing was the act of a World Item if such unique abilities existed in the world. When Shalltear heard Ainz complain on their lack of information of Riku and the possibility of needing to be defeated by him to gain a full picture of his opponent, she and the rest of the Guardians were fearful of the possibility of Ainz losing his life. When the meeting was about to be concluded, Shalltear asked if the offer to Riku in becoming a subordinate to the Sorcerer Kingdom was sincere. Ainz responded to her question that it was a lie given Riku's potential threat level.[37]

Shalltear was reported to be managing the dragons under her charge, but since the establishment of the Sorcerer Kingdom, besides his duties as Floor Guardians, Shalltear has received additional outside duties.[38]
After Mare defeats and captures Zesshi Zetsumei, Ainz read her memories. From there, he found out that the Slaine Theocracy was behind Shalltear's brainwashing. This enraged him and he ordered Albedo to arrange for a total retaliation against the Theocracy. [39]

Mass for the Dead Arc
- Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc
When The Great Tomb of Nazarick was transferred to the New World, Shalltear was among the NPCs that were killed. Once she was revived by Momonga in the aftermath that saw the ruin of the dungeon, Shalltear like the others found herself facing an abnormal drop in levels. To combat the infestation of the dungeon of Chaos Beasts, Shalltear was designated to lead the undead summons to purge them.[40] In one such instance Shalltear found her power was not enough to suppress a Chaos Beast infestation on the 4th Floor forcing her to call for aid from Albedo. In a survey by the protagonist on what kind of rewards the Floor Guardians would like, Shalltear expressed that she would like to see Momonga's face more often.[41]
As Nazarick is slowly being restored, Shalltear is officially recognized as the leader of the front-line unit that would defend Nazarick from security threats.[42] Later while Shalltear was doing a Chaos Beast subjugation at the Throne Room with Demiurge and Albedo, their musings on the wreck Throne of Kings prompt the 7th Floor Guardian to construct a new throne. When its revealed, the vampire like the other Floor Guardians revel in the creation. Though in the end accept Momonga's decision to not sit on it until Nazarick is rebuilt.[43]
While continuing to do her duties to Nazarick, she learned of the protagonist's feats from Cocytus. She is astonished to learn that the homunculus had no combat ability but was still recognized and trusted by Momonga. Feelings of doubt soon overcame her on her own abilities feeling inadequate that her own colleagues begin to take notice while on patrol with her. In one just case her loss in self-confidence causes her to nearly allow a new Chaos Beast to escape from the confines of the Throne Room.
Though the creature was stopped by Aura, Shalltear still feels guilty on the lack of her abilities and begins blaming herself for Nazarick's current state. This leads her to ask Albedo to resign her as a Floor Guardian, feeling she does not deserve the title. Her request is rejected as Albedo finds the idea absurd and an insult to the Supreme Beings and asks Shalltear to reflect on this. Eventually she is found by Aura who after hearing the vampire's self-pity snaps her out of it for giving up as her comrades are also facing the same predicament since being revived and yet they still carry on. The talk is enough to embolden Shalltear to resume her duties in earnest just in time to prevent a Chaos Beast incursion on the 10th Floor.[44]
Once she succeeded in her subjugation, Shalltear with renewed confidence is met by Momonga and Albedo. There she graciously thanks her master for reviving her, and flustered by Momonga's grace when he tells her it was due to her being an integral part of the dungeon.[45] While on an assignment with Yuri Alpha, the vampire gave the maid the idea for a beautification project to clean up all the discarded tiles in Nazarick.[46] The vampire would be paired with other Pleiades such as CZ2128 Delta and Entoma Vasilissa Zeta to cull the Chaos Beasts.[47][48]
At one time Shalltear along with Aura were gathered by Albedo to discuss the word 'hanami'. The other two women were unable to decipher its meaning they listen to Demiuge's advice to seek more clarification from the protagonist. The events would launch a quest to find the Legendary Tree to a hanami for Momonga, at which Shalltear attended to fawn over Momonga with Albedo.[49] Due to the limited resources to finance the Frozen Prison on the 5th Floor, Shalltear allowed the newly revived Neuronist Painkill to relocate to a chamber on her floors. During the interim of Neuronist's absence Shalltear was revealed to have taken her duties as intelligence officer which were then relinquished back to the torturer. Neuronist would be delivered new human prisoners who were caught straying too close to the dungeon by the vampire once the former was settled in.[50]
Shalltear got involved in an argument with Albedo over their affections of Momonga. To avoid a potential schism in Nazarick, Demiurge and the protagonist quickly devised a scheme to distract the two women in a contest. The contest would decide to determine who was worthy to be Momonga's queen. Through four contests, the two Floor Guardians end up being tied 2:2. To find a way to break the tie, the two try to leave the decision to Momonga, but the Overlord ends the contest as ambiguous.[51]
Much later Shalltear conducted an experiment with a [Gate] to determine if they were safe to use. The experiment was initially a failure as the spell opened an unstable portal to an unknown island, which prompted the Pleiades, protagonist and Slimeko to be sent to scout the area and extract any available resources.[52]
To test her recovering strength, Shalltear participate in a mock combat drill with her fellows Floor Guardians in Fake Nazarick. She patrolled the duplicate 1st to 3rd Floor with Cocytus and fought against Momonga's undead horde. After he received a call for help from the 6th Floor she and her colleague rushed there. There all the Floor Guardians joined together in fighting Momonga though they were soundlessly defeated, however they won the mock drill as they tricked their master in claiming a false target when the time ran out.[53]
The vampire on occasion would try to gauge Momonga's interest in her. When Nazarick was hosting Halloween she misunderstood that it was scandalous day to dress sensationally for her lover instead of a children's holiday and so outfitted herself in a revealing costume.[54]
On the occasion Nazarick had guests from another world, this time a unit of aerial magic caster soldiers, Shalltear was assigned with Narberal and Entoma to study their air combat skills. While they were conducting drills in the skies above the dungeon, they came across a Giant Flying Chaos Beast which forced them to retreat for the duration.[55]
After repairs to Spa Resort Nazarick were being implemented, Shalltear and the other female Floor Guardians enjoyed a session in the baths. At the same time Momonga and their male comrades were also bathing, led the women to try and peep at Momonga. The lewdness of her words activated the Lion Golem in the women's baths and attacked the female Floor Guardians.[56]
When several members of Nazarick began to utilize the newly discovered Prismatic Crystals to recover their lost levels, it was deemed that they still needed fighting experience to move the process along. Thus the Nazarick Fighting Tournament was organized by Momonga. In the first match Shalltear led her team the Bloody Maidens against Albedo team of Overseer. The vampire's team defeated their opponents and advanced to the second round where her team faced off against Cocytus and the Pleiades. However, despite putting up a good fight, Shalltear team loses.[57]
There would be more Nazarick hosted events that Shalltear would participate in such as hunting for the Pure White Peryton for Nazarick's Christmas feast. After she and the team assigned to hunt the beast tracked and killed it in the Azerlisia Mountains, Shalltear used her blood removal skills to properly butcher it for the Christmas party. There at the party she tried to entice Momonga away from Albedo who was wearing a Christmas Costume.[58]
Due to some sort of mental spell, most of Nazarick became affected by a New Year's atmosphere and began to celebrate the holiday neglecting their duties. Momonga had begun to notice the change and quickly took action. After recalling help from outside the tomb, he collected Shalltear's aid as it was found out that the spell was not very effective on undead. Together they found the source of the spell to be from Fake Nazarick, which had been transformed into a Chaos Zone containing the Takemikazuchi Shrine. After bypassing all the New Year related obstacles, Shalltear and her allies faced against Shiramochi-ō the mastermind.[59]
The entity was defeated by Momonga and the spell should have ended, however the White Mochi King used the last of his power to rewind time, creating a loop that repeated the events prior to the New Year's spell over Nazarick. Like before Shalltear was unaffected by the spell and would once again help Momonga get to the bottom of the New Year's atmosphere, though this time they were aided by a strange boy named Shiro. AT the end it was revealed that Shiro was actually an amnesiac Shiramochi-ō who had lost his memories and powers due to the effort to rewind time. In the course of traveling with the inhabitants of Nazarick, though Shiro was compelled to complete his mission and destroy them, he found that he grew attached to his new friends and could not harm them. Shalltear witnessed the stranger sacrifice himself for Nazarick, willingly allowing Momonga to kill him so that the spell over the NPCs would be broken. After the spell was broken, Shalltear remained one of the few who retained their memories of the events that transpired.[60]
While mulling unhappily over the results of the Queen War, Shalltear had an epiphany that Momonga's decision for the competition to be a tie was some sort of secret test, a "Trial of Love" as it were to prove her love to him. To this end she sought the help of the protagonist and Slimeko to devise a plan to win Momonga's attention by playing hard to get and acting more focused in her duties. During this her actions did garner her master's attention, as her break in character worried him, though he could not complain about the results.
After Shalltear successfully bagged a Giant Flying Chaos Beast for study, when she was allowed to battle with Momonga to test her skills. At the end of the battle believing she met all the requirements of the "Trial of Love" tried to declare herself the winner. Momonga was speechless after hearing the reasons for her behavior, and while he did not tell her that there was no such trial, so as to preserve his reputation as a near unfathomable leader, he sadly played along with the idea and told her she did not pass. Despite having failed, Shalltear intended to retake the trial and win Momonga's heart.[61]
To determine what happened to the Roble Holy Kingdom, so such a fate did not befall Nazarick, Momonga selected Shalltear to be a member for his expedition to the fallen nation that he was personally leading. The vampire acted as the main combatant as her master investigated the destroyed Great Wall, defending him from various foes. When the expedition reached the ruined city of Kalinsha, Shalltear fought with her comrades against a new chaos beast that was protecting a strange artifact. Once it was defeated the artifact and the expedition returned back to Nazarick.[62]
There would be more encounters with visitors from other worlds. In one visit to Nazarick, one of the visitors reverted to her dark personality turning against her allies after feeling that her friends were threatened. Shalltear and Albedo fought the entity before driving her away. Once learning of what happened, Shalltear was sympathetic as she also had trouble controlling her darker aspects of personality when under the influence of Blood Frenzy. While the visitors stayed at Nazarick, the vampire heard Albedo was taking dating lessons and even got a kiss from Momonga which peeved her.[63] She was though take dating lessons herself with Aura allowing one of their guests to walkthrough how to seduce their partners.[64]
In another chapter of competing affection for Momonga between her and Albedo, the latter began working as a general maid on the 9th and 10th Floors under the pretense of reviewing work efficiency. Though most of Nazarick accept this as helpful, Shalltear suspects that the Overseer Guardian is up to something and has Solution keep an eye on Albedo's activities. Later Shalltear participated in an exercise suggested by Albedo that simulated an invasion on the 9th Floor where she acted as the invader to test the security measures. Once the drill was over Shalltear was thanked kindly by her rival causing her to deepen her suspicion.
While helping Abyss Demon clear the Mine Dungeon of undead, it was later revealed to Shalltear by Solution, after interrogating the protagonist and Slimeko, who learned that the exercise was a ploy to get Albedo closer to Momonga to act as his personal protection so that she could be alone with him in order to rape him. Upon hearing Albedo's plan, the vampire flew straight back to Nazarick, just in time to save her master from be violated by the demoness. The two are brought before Momonga and their actions are explained. In the end the two women go back to bickering that neither have yet to complete the "Trial of Love" and are still tied.[65]
On another occasion when visitors from another world came, Shalltear observed one being a magic caster having a in-depth discussion with her master Momonga. Unlike Albedo who was furious and envious of the exchange, the vampire felt that it was alright since their interaction was mostly an intellectual one. Her disinterest caused Albedo to be favoring the outsider as both shared similar characteristics which Shalltear found insulting.[66]
During an incident that caused Momonga to suspect an undercover Sebas Tian of treason after receiving a report from Solution, Shalltear went with Demiurge to accompany Momonga to E-Rantel to confront the butler. There in a basement of a brothel in the Black Market Sebas Tian was ordered to kill Tuare to prove his loyalty. The butler having no choice to comply did so, however his killing blow on the girl was blocked by Shalltear as it was all a test. Satisfied with this display, Momonga dropped the question of Sebas Tian's loyalty and returned to Nazarick with the Floor Guardians.[67]
The vampire would be assigned to help the protagonist and his team to aid in their rescue of a missing Gazef Stronoff. The Floor Guardian altered her appearance and created the identity of "Shall", a traveling girl who was once a noble. To prepare for the mission Shall and the protagonist used the Crack in the Tob Forest to practice a rescue scenario. When they were ready, Shall followed the protagonist whilst invisible to avoid questions from Blue Roses who was collaborating on the rescue mission.[68]
The undercover Floor Guardian only acted openly once the adventurers decided that the protagonist's team alone would journey into the caverns of the Northern Cave to find the Warrior Captain. Shall continued on with them into the cave and helped them overcome several obstacles. The Warrior Captain was found eventually but had gone feral due to the exposure to the Miasma. It required Shall to don her armor and fight the human as Shalltear Bloodfallen. After she knocked him out and was prepared to bring him back, the Nazarick operatives were attacked by a strange monster. The beast was slain and due to its uniqueness was later transported back to Nazarcick for study.[69] Upon her return to Nazarick and being praised by Momonga for her ingenuity and her "Shall" identity it caused Albedo to be green with envy and also desire a pseudonym.[70]
At the time of Demiurge's debut as Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth, Shalltear in a disguised acted as one of his minions. As part of a deal the Demon Emperor made with Emperor Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix, she joined in destroying the thirty thousand strong Chaos Beast horde that threatened E-Rantel.[71]
After news about Miyoshi spread and that he was Momonga's bathing attendant, Shalltear and many of the female NPCs petitioned to Momonga to allowed to challenge the Sapphire Slime for the position. To give them an opportunity to have the chance the Miyoshi Cup was created to determine if any of the participants had what it took to be a bathing attendant. The event also served as a way to select women that were needed to create a harem so as to activate a dangerous golem in Spa Resort Nazarick so CZ could disarm it. Shalltear was among the finalists to be selected for the harem, but as for who would be the bathing attendant, Momonga defeated all of the participants in the final test thus allowing Miyoshi to go unchallenged.[72]
Just as Nazarick was preparing for their second Christmas party, an emergency meeting was held to address a call for aid from the Great Lake as an unusual cold wave was threatening to destroy the area. Originally wanting to send Shalltear and Yuri to investigate, Momonga disagreed and opted to send other members of the Pleiades. Later at the Christmas party, Albedo wore her Christmas Costume for Momonga hoping of a night of passion as was described in a book she read though Momonga was angst at the action. Shalltear seeing the exchange nonetheless demand Pandora's Actor to fetch her a Christmas Costume.[73]
Nazarick would receive some old guests from another world, and Shalltear would be present for the operation to assist their guests in fighting a rogue clone of one of them.[74] Due to the distrust of one of the guests Shalltear was asked to be on standby to ensure that there was no duplicity.[75]
A new endeavor called Project Valentine was put in place by Momonga which involved using leftover Valentine Chocolate to make sweets for the New World inhabitants. After hearing Aura take an interest in the event, Shalltear and Albedo thought the dark elf was trying to make sweets for Momonga and participating in another Queen War event. The two also joined the project to impress Momonga. Shalltear with the help of Solution's cutting was able to create the Healthy Blood Marriage for the cook-off of the event. Though in the end it was Aura's dish of Natural Forest Chocolate that won as it was deemed to be simple yet delicious enough to be used as a gift for diplomatic services.[76]
In an experiment to use idols to capture the hearts of humans in E-Rantel, Shalltear was selected by Momonga to become an idol with Aura. Together they formed the idol group LittleMass, with Shalltear taking the stage name of "Acidity" while Aura took the stage name of "Alkaline". The two made their debut before the general maids of Nazarick, entertaining them with live performances and singing whilst fighting Chaos Beasts. The two hosted handshake events signing memorabilia for their fans in between shows.[77]
The group though was eventually dissolved after Shalltear learned that relationships with superiors were not allowed. If she wanted to pursue Momonga as a suitor as a Floor Guardian she would have to relinquish being an idol. In their last performance they gave a final farewell to their fanbase in the Amphitheater. While their idol project ended, Shalltear had some ideas to resume the project in the future as she found material in the library that showed precedents where an idol could be in a relationship with her lover.[78]
At the time of an adventurer tournament in E-Rantel, prompted by Nazarick due to their experiments with idols, Shalltear was chosen to participate with Kyuko. The two were selected since neither had no prior ties to the protagonist's adventurer identity. The two then created their identities "Shall" and "Ku" and developed the cover story that Shall was a princess of a fallen nation that was destroyed by Chaos Beasts and suffered a curse that prevented her from doing magic. While the latter Ku was another princess of a tribe of heteromorphs who also suffered the same tragedy before coming under Shall's service. The two women would maintain the story that they were old acquaintances of Solution Epsilon's adventurer identity "Soi" and once in the city gain reputations as adventurers.
Upon reaching the city, the two women were met by Soi who convinced the guard at the checkpoint that they were credible people. The three then met with other agents in the city Narberal and Pandora's Actor at a hotel suite there they were given a briefing on the plan. Afterwards Soi to guided her and Ku into the new section of the city where they met with Saint Clementine who they successfully fooled with their fake background.[79]
During the tournament she with Ku fought against the Swords of Darkness, defeating them in the second match. The duo continued to impress the crowds in other matches like against Gagaran, Evileye and Brain Unglaus. Though they lost against those three challenges, their battles astound those around them. They even win the respect of the human supremacists of the Sunlight Scripture, earning draw in their duel. After fighting matches between Blue Roses and even the Dark Warrior before Ku and Shall are given an adventurer plate they both decline as they wish to continue traveling to find a way to break Shall's curse. Despite turning down the offer to be adventurers in E-Rantel, their performance wins them the people's hearts who promise to welcome them two back if they ever chose to change their minds.[80]
Shalltear and Albedo would be seen at the Round Table, after Narberal returned from a mission in Re-Blumrushur which involved wearing a wedding dress. There Momonga interviewed her on the experience and her opinion of wearing the bridal gown. The two would take notes on the exchange, no doubt to further their own plans to get Momonga to ask them to marry him.[81]
Shalltear would be present at a meeting with the other Floor Guardians. There she witnessed Cocytus give a status report on the situation of he Great Lake. To prepare for future combat in the area to protect the lizardmen, he requested the Pleiades to be sent out in the swimsuit as they proven to be adaptable in aquatic environments. This request would develop into a performance test on the swimsuits from Nazarick against those made by their collaborator Tsuibayaya.
Once the idea was approved by Momonga, Shalltear enjoying what she saw as a swimsuit show made allusion that this was another hidden "Trial of Love". Eager to pursue her love for Momonga, Albedo was quick to assume that it was connecting various unrelated comments and a series of events to conclude this. They convinced Demiurge that this was a great plan by Momonga who also agreed to help organize the event as ordain by the will of Momonga.
After they officially get his permission to host a "Nazarick Swimsuit Athletic Meet", who assume it to be a multifaceted event to serve only to conduct tests on swimsuits and implementation of idols, Albedo and Shalltear scheme at a tea party to complete the fallacy that is the "Trial of Love". As Albedo does not have a swimsuit to use Shalltear offers to loan one of hers from her creator. The women try to tempt Aura to join in the trial but gets a hard pass. Once Demiurge gathered all the necessary research into idols and their use of swimsuit activities he gets a greenlight from Momonga to host it.
At this time Shalltear and Albedo test out "gap moe" by wearing their swimsuits in the Round Table before Momonga, causing him to get flustered by the scene as it is inappropriate. They mistake his "Despair Aura" that he casted over himself as a sign that the event is a serious concern not just because of the "Trial of Love", but it will also lead to finally selecting a Queen and produce a heir for the continuation of Nazarick.
At the competition Albedo becomes the leader of Red Group. Her team wins the first competition "Sandy Beach Obstacle Race". Though her teammates made it first in the race, the did not gain enough points when eliminating monsters in the obstacle stretch so victory went to White Group. Red Group though would win in the "Floating Island Survival" competition as she and her teammates managed to stay on the float before it was cracked and broken by the weight of White Group. While the next competition was being prepared, she and the other members in the audience enjoyed a special mini-live show of the returned LittleMass. Shalltear returned to her role as "Acidity" alongside Aura who played as "Alkaline" before the cheering general maids.
The last competition was the "Mix Gender Water Cavalry" match, where Albedo rode on the shoulders of Solution and Lupusregina to fight not just Albedo's team but also Momonga who rode Cocytus and Neuronist. In rare occasion of solidarity, Shalltear and Albedo joined forces to knock Neuronist out of the game as a small revenge for her being chosen to carry their master. After that was done both women leaped off their mounts and pushed Momonga of his mounts and into the water, making the athletic meet into a tie.
Though the women failed to get a decisive victory they enjoyed the praise from Momonga and their fans. Later at a meeting with the Guardians at the Round Table, Momonga was made aware that they had assumed that the athletic meet was another "Trial of Love". Momonga preferring not to correct them as he believed it was best for the mental development then instead hailed all of their work and expressed his value of them as his precious children. Enamored by the praise Albedo leaped and cling to Momonga and was followed by Shalltear. The scene prompted the other Guardians to remove the women from Momonga, but even five Guardians did not have the strength and so the Eight-Edge Assassins were called to help. Both women though were punished in confinement for a few days.[82]
Shalltear later made a journey to the Azerlisia Mountains with her Vampire Brides as escorts and Lupusregina as a guide to reach the Crack guarded by Evil Lord Envy which produced Frozen Giants. After having a bout session in fighting the Ice Chaos Beasts, Shalltear party spied upon a human girl battle several Contaminated Beasts in the mountains. Shalltear was fascinated by her as the girl was possibly as strong as her. The Floor Guardian quickly reported this new development to Momonga and was given permission to make contact. She approached the girl under her guise as Shall and learned that the stranger's name was Anne. When she pressed for answer on how Anne got so strong,
Anne told Shall that she could not remember due to memory loss. Shall hearing this wanted to know more about Anne, as under the impression of wanting to help offered Anne to assist her in helping relive her memories to recover them. Since using memory magic was too risky and might be seen as invasive, Shall opted to take Anne to the peak of the mountain to give her an experience of seeing the mountain scape which she hoped will trigger a dormant memory. Sadly, it did not, but the view caused Anne to spy the Crack in the sky, leading Shall to another attempt to show Anne a Crack at close range.
The vampire then made preparations in advance to have Kyuko and Hamsuke and their minions vacate the area of the Tob Forest where a Crack was situated. Though the Crack did not leave much of an impression to Anne, the Chaos Beasts that emerged caused the girl to go berserk. At first Anne was unable to move, causing Shall to fight the Chaos Beast on her own, until Anne began to mindlessly attack her. The duel allowed Shall to measure her opponent's ability and determine Anne was not that stronger than her, but saw she was able to use an impossible technique. Once Anne regained her senses, she apologized and begged Shall to cease in her attempts to restore her memory. The undercover agent relented as it was deemed by her master it was too risky earn the girl's ire. Shall though was disappointed as so far she had yet to learn anything credible, only that Anne was a runaway and came to the mountains to open her mind.
The adventurer helped escort Anne to E-Rantel, where her handlers would come and retrieve her. There she met with the protagonist, Slimeko and Clementine. The reunion with Clementine was short-lived as the saint quickly excused herself upon seeing Anne. Anne then left as well to meet up with her retriever, but before leaving she embraces Shall and whispers her true name: Antilene.
After her encounter with Antilene, Shalltear regrouped with her escorts that were shadowing in secret. They returned to Nazarick, via a discreet route. Once back in the dungeon, they gave their final report to Momoga, and the others. There it was deemed that Shalltear's mission before fruit as they were able to confirm Anne was a powerful entity, and while not a player was a member of the Theocracy.[83]
By the time the Re-Estize Kingdom transfers the management rights of E-Rantel to Nazarick under the guise of the Sorcerer Kingdom, Shalltear is sent back to the Northern Cave. There with Yuri and Lupusregina they examine the area to see if they can locate another specimen of the monster she killed when rescuing Gazef Stronoff. Though the search proved to be unsuccessful, prompting Shalltear to return back to Nazarick whilst the maids continued to survey the area. To avoid detection Shalltear uses [Perfect Unknowable] and takes a detour through the Katze Plains with her minions.
Unknown to her the area is also where the Black Scripture is out searching for the trail of the Demon Emperor after he fled E-Rantel. When the captain killed one of the wolves she borrowed from Aura, the vampire turned her attention to killing these strangers feeling that they needed to be eliminated. While stayed to the fog and used her summons to fight the warriors, she used the opportunity to determine who the most valued target was, being Kaire. She attempted to kill the old woman from the air, while invisible, but the captain blocked her, detecting the abnormal air currents. Now out in the open Shalltear was forced to fight against the Black Scripture on their terms.[84]
In the end Shalltear managed to fatally wound Kaire, forcing the Black Scripture to retreat, however not before the old woman used a special item on the vampire. The item was able to take control of Shalltear's mind, but since the user did not give any clear direction, it was incomplete and Shalltear continued to attack anyone indiscriminately. Her absence was noticed by Nazarick when the maids that accompanied her returned without her. Momonga using his magic located her in the Kazte Plains.
After confirming on the game console in the Throne Room, that Shalltear was under some sort of influence, Momonga went to the plains in hopes of using his Shooting Star to release her form whatever was affecting her. His spell failed, and the failure dawned to Momonga that the only item that could do this was a World Item. The only way to free Shalltear from a World Item's effect was death. Due to Shalltear's power as the strongest Floor Guardian, Momonga wanted to face her alone, but faced immediate cries of dismay from his followers as it was too dangerous. In a compromise, the protagonist devised a strategy to command an army of summons to aid Albedo and Mare in combating the mind controlled Shalltear. In addition with support from Cocytus and his adventurer team.
Before the battle commenced the protagonist tried to reason with Shalltear first to see the extent of her condition and also to identify her attackers. It proved pointless as Shalltear refused despite and having lost her memory of when she was attacked. In the battle Shalltear became hostile once the denizens of Nazarick engaged her. Though her former colleagues fought their best, Shalltear slowly overpowered them intent on killing the protagonist seeing him as the ringleader. Before she could kill the homunculus, the trap prepared for her was sprung, with Aura using Depiction of Nature and Society and trap her in another dimension where Momonga was waiting for her.
Shalltear having been weakened during her clash with the others was then killed by Momonga. At the Throne Room Momonga used the gold from the Treasury to revive the fallen Floor Guardian. Upon her revival Shalltear was noted to be free of any mental influence and was shocked to learn of her actions. The situation with Shalltear, painted a new reality to Nazarick, that there was an unknown enemy in the world that could threaten them, prompting them to advise operating with more caution than before.[85]
Days later Shalltear attended another meeting to hear about Iguva=41, Lupusregina and CZ2128 Delta successful infiltration of Six Arms and how they foiled a smuggling operation by an alliance of nobles in the Empire. Though she was disappointed that it was not a lead to the identity of the culprits who mind controlled her she was still happy at the news on Nazarick's agents as they gained a vital footing in the Empire. At the meeting, she also learned of Momonga's next target to be the Dwarf Kingdom.[86]
At a briefing to discuss the events Fake Sun phenomenon, Shalltear reported that she placed the culprits on the 1st Floor. When the protagonist explained how he figured out who was responsible thanks to a "prophecy" he found in the library Shalltear was lost but gradually came to understand once the homunculus clarified the significance. Later she attended the Tsukimi on the surface of Nazarick, enjoying the Sous-chef's special Tsukimi Sake, spurning away Albedo's concern for her alcohol intake and sparking an argument with her.[87]
When Albedo was organizing Nazraick's formal Halloween Festival, Shalltear opted to not participate, due to feeling ashamed for betraying Momonga. Though her compatriots and Momonga convinced her to join in the festivities. Shalltear helped Albedo do research on Halloween in the library. There Albedo saw how depressed Shalltear was still from the mind-control incident especially now that her adventurer identity as "Shall" was possibly compromised. At Albedo's incidence, she decided to dress as Shall for the Halloween event. In the defense training session of the festivities, Shalltear had to fight invaders from outside Nazarick led by Kyuko who in her Ku form challenged Shalltear. The two engaged in each other in a duel. Kyuko intent was not victory but to bolster her colleague's confidence, which worked and embolden Shalltear to go and seek Albedo and Narberal who were acting as the evil witches invading Nazarick. Once the defense training was over, Shalltear enjoyed the rest of Halloween with her peers in the pumpkin patch on the 6th Floor.[88]
She would attend a meeting in the Round Table and listened to the protagonist's report on the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute and its request for more specimens. An idea was proposed to send out Pleiades maids familiar to the Azerlisia Mountains to capture more specimens, but Momonga decided against it as two of the maids with such experience were in the Empire gathering intel. He reasoned that they should not be recalled as their mission took priority as the undercover maids could still gleam some information on who previously brainwashed Shalltear which the vampire found to be embarrassing still.
At the meeting when Momonga voiced concern over the human orphans in E-Rantel suffering from a illness that was indirectly caused by the bad status effect of one of Demuirge's demons, Mare asked by the worry, which Shalltear along with Albedo explained that their master's concern was for the Sorcerer Kingdom's reputation for failing to address the problem. The vampire would also attend a holiday part in the Amphitheater where she saw Yuri Alpha dressed in a Christmas Costume and commented that the maid looked good in it.[89]
While guarding the ruined Throne Room, Momonga arrived with Demiurge, Slimeko and the protagonist to determine if there were any abnormalities. Sadly, no oddities on the Crack were found and later at a general meeting Shalltear learned that Momonga's caution was due to the approaching "New Year" that previously had come, causing everyone to fall under its mental thrall. Momonga planned to go on patrol himself which Shalltear tried to invite herself to join him but was declined as so she could focus on her floors. To better prepare for an attack, Shalltear conducted a "general cleaning" of her floors and contacted Kyouhukou and Grant to search the floor for anything out of the ordinary. In her time conducting the investigation of her floors, Shalltear believe that some reexamination of the teleporting traps needed to be adjusted.
Afterwards Shalltear was allowed to join Momonga's patrol of the floors, visiting the 6th, 5th and 7th Floors with him and provided her juniors, Slimeko and the protagonist a brief history on each one. The group eventually came across some general maids eating mochi, and they were mistaken to be under the "New Year" effect. But once they were corrected, Momonga had second thoughts of being against the "new Year" holiday and instead decided to celebrate it. Taking an idea from Albedo a Kakushigei Tournament was hosted in the Amphitheater. Shalltear acted as a representative for Red Team and faced against Cocytus of White Team.
Once Cocytus presented his craved ice statue, Shalltear drew attention to herself by performing a balancing technique involving a sphere of blood and a parasol, before using [Brilliant Radiance] to light up Cocytus's ice statue. Victory for the second matched went to her and Shalltear saw that the tournament ended in a draw after the third match. When the tournament ended, Shalltear and her allies found themselves transported into the strange space containing the Bishamonten Shrine. To end whatever trapped them, Shalltear joined Momonga and several others in confronting a copy of Shiramochi-ō. However, the copy proved to be far formidable that even she, Aura and Mare head trouble against him. Aid soon came when the original Ruler of New Year, Shiro arrived to fight alongside him. Seeing Shiro, revived some repressed memories of last year's New Year in Shalltear. Once the battle was over and they returned to Nazarick, Shalltear continued to celebrate the last hours of New Year with Shiro and the other members of Nazarick.[90]
Shalltear would be a part of Demiurge's ambitious plan to convince some new visitors from another world to stay in Nazarick. The vampire sparred with the one known as a Demon Lord in her world, though limited herself by using a collar to gain more experience. Later Shalltear joined in a mock combat battle of Momonga and the Floor Guardians fighting against the two visitors.[91]
At the announcement of the Sorcerer Kingdom's National Foundation Day Ceremony, Shalltear was excited by the news. And even more about plans for the Sorcerer King Momonga Statue, which would be installed on a floor on Nazarick to the Floor Guardians with the best etiquette and mannerism when interacting with guests to Nazarick. While the other Floor Guardians were busy preparing for the event, Shalltear and Aura were called to Albedo's room so that they could practice dancing, as it was a skill that was used in an indicator of class withing a country's elite. Their attempts to dance were less than promising as they required an actual dance teacher. To solve that Albedo suggested that they train with Kyouhukou, but both she and Aura reacted in revulsion to the idea. However, caught between their disgust of the cockroach and their need to maintain their nation's honor, the two women reluctantly agreed to the training regime.[92]
Shalltear and Aura would eventually accomplish their training under the insect druid in time for the event. The Floor Guardian was present at the ceremony commemorating the founding of the Sorcerer Kingdom. At the banquet portion of the event, Shalltear changed into a qipao for the occasion. She was vexed when she saw Albedo dancing with Momonga at the ball. But was calmed down by Aura who stated she could have the next dance with Momonga, though the right was contested by Neuronist Painkill. Like everyone at the party she saw the unveiling of the Sorcerer King Momonga Statue and believed it to be magnificent. When Momonga decided to install the statue on the 7th Floor, Shalltear accepted the decision, but after hearing that there were several unclaimed prototypes of the statues, she petitioned for one to keep as a souvenir.[93]
Shalltear would resume her role as "Acidity" for a return of LittleMass, to help in an experiment to test out for Nazarick, though this time it would introduce new idol. During the idol selection meeting Aura proposed that Mare could be a perfect candidate, though it was ultimately decided that Albedo would be the new idol as "Neutrally". With the new idol joining their ranks the group changed the group name from LittleMass to LittleMasStar.[94]
While on the 9th Floor, Shalltear witnessed Albedo strike a re-summoned guest of Momonga. Thinking the act was without provocation the vampire berated the Overseer Guardian for the atrocious act. She later took back her words when the “injured guest” was unharmed and began fighting her, Albedo and Solution. The three attempted to subdue the guest, but he escaped by transforming everyone in the vicinity of the floor into exact copies of himself save for the vampire and succubus.[95]
Shalltear participated in the trial test of Casino Resort Nazarick. After three days playing baccarat and roulette, the Floor Guardian came in third place with the most chips. Using her winnings she selected the towel of Momonga made by Albedo as her prize.[96]
Since the incident involving Shalltear being mind controlled, she and Albedo entered in an unofficial truce over the Queen War. Albedo having noticed the lull of interest in the trial then brought up the issue with Shalltear as she was unsure if it was appropriate to resume due the uncertainty of Shalltear's mental state but also the wisdom in being queen and producing an heir in a still dangerous world. Such as decision needed to have Momonga's approval, though due to the Overlord's apathy to the competition, Albedo revealed to Shalltear and Aura of her plan to create a wedding dress to impress and reignite Momonga's need for a queen.
Though Shalltear wished Albedo luck in the project, she had no intention to lose to Albedo, or even Aura, should the Queen War be restarted. When Albedo went out in the field to locate a new source of fiber plants to produce "Dark Warrior" dolls, Shalltear was left in charge of Nazarick's security in the Overseer Guardian's absence. After Albedo returned and showed her peers the amigurumi doll she made using local materials, Shalltear was among those that complimented it. Then whilst Albedo was busy sewing her wedding dress to show Momonga, Shalltear enacted her own scheme to flirt and seduce Momonga in his office. Her plot was caught on by Albedo when she arrived there and the two get physical, pulling Momonga between them, trying to vie for his attention. The altercation officially ended the truce and re-opened the Queen War. The situation ended getting more physical, prompting the Eight-Edge Assassins to get involved and Momonga punishing both of them for their behavior.[97]
In an effort to redeem herself from the mind control incident, Shalltear petitioned to Momonga to be allowed to resume [Gate] experiments in order to repair the teleportation traps on her floors. Though the idea was found to be unnecessary, Momonga agreed to the plan as teleportation magic was still an untested field in the New World due to the Cracks. Through Demiurge's assistance, she was able to replicate the same conditions of the first series of [Gate] experiments. When trying to connect a [Gate] to the Mine Dungeon, she instead re-connected to the isolated island. Though the result was unexpected, the island opened opportunities for the Sorcerer Kingdom ins expanding elsewhere in the New World.
To make sure that the path was viable and could be re-opened, Shalltear did several tests. To ensure that the island was still uninhabited, Aura and Mare were selected to lead an expedition to explore the island. Whilst the twins trained with the lizardmen in aquatic combat in their swimsuits, Shalltear was charged in guarding the 6th Floor in their absence. Once they returned and a plan was made for an expedition, Shalltear spent some time talking to the twins wishing them luck on their mission and allowing her to be of use. However, when Mare pointed out the next phase of the experiment would probably have Shalltear open a [Gate] on the island to Nazarick, Shalltear became thrilled of the idea of being called to serve Momonga.[98]
When news from the team was reported back, Shalltear was happy of being useful and that he [Gate] ability led to this unexpected acquisition. Once the team had fully explored the island, Momonga ordered her to remain in Nazarick to maintain the [Gate] while he went to greet them at the beach. It was still uncertain of the limits of her [Gate], as they were unable to open a [Gate] from the island to Nazarick, but Demiurge promised to work with Shalltear to see if her [Gate] could open new locations. At a tea party with some members of the Floor Guardians, the vampire bragged on the praise she received from Momonga. When the group decided to join the Swimsuit Sports Festival at the Great Lake, Shalltear inquired if Aura would use the event and participate in the ongoing Queen War for Momonga's heart.[99]
In a rare visit, Shalltear went to Ashurbanipal to acquire documents regarding something she heard Peroroncino mention: "campus's love comedy". After her visit she went to the 10th Floor in the Throne Room to do her duty of clearing out the Chaos Beasts. Whilst contemplating on the material she got from the library with her Vampire Brides, the Crack began glowing to her shock. Seeing this was an abnormal situation, Shalltear attempted to be ready for whatever came through; however, a brilliant light soon came from the Crack and engulfed the entire room. After the light vanished, it transformed the Great Tomb of Nazarick into Nazarick Academy, leaving everyone, save for Momonga, under it spell and believing they were teachers and students. Whilst Momonga tried to determine where the source of the incident occurred, he noticed that Shalltear's name on the school rooster was absent, leading him to believe that she was connected to the situation.[100]
Shalltear eventually appeared at the academy, though as a transfer student. Unlike the rest of the mentally influenced members of Nazarick, her memories were altered so that she did not recognize Momonga or her comrades and sported her own uniform. Due to bumping into Momonga she assumed him to be a creep after he said her name. She arrived late to class much to Yuri's annoyance and earned her classmates scorn when she pointed out as Momonga being the old guy in the hallway. Shalltear became unpopular since she disrespected the principal. In return Shalltear could not understand why her classmates and teachers were worshipping Momonga, though slowly her respect grows for Momonga after experiencing various classes.
Momonga and his allies determined that Shalltear was the root of the incident, though were unsure of how to resolve it without killing the vampire. While trying out clubs with Narberal and CZ, Shalltear approached Momonga to confess her love, which forced Momonga and his maids to flee. Shalltear chased them and thinking that he was rejecting her, aimed to kill him so no one would have him. When she appeared to be ready to strike Momonga, Shalltear stopped herself as she realized that Nazarick Academy while being a manifestation of her creator Peroroncino dream, murdering his friend Momonga was not what he would condone. The Floor Guardian broke free from the mental control and in doing so restore the Great Tomb of Nazarick to its original form. After the incident, Shaltear felt responsible for the event, though her comrades convinced her that she was a hero and savior to Nazarick as she managed to break the spell over Nazarick through her will.[101]
At a meeting of her peers and Momonga, Shalltear learned that the protagonist was given the opportunity to host a Harvest Festival in E-Rantel and wanted to organize a Halloween theme event in accordance to Momonga's hidden agenda. Shalltear was confused at first so the details of Momonga's alleged hidden plan were revealed as the festival was to provide a historical background for the Sorcerer Kingdom to lessen suspicion towards their nation by associating its origins to the Boastful Sage. Not only that it would act as a lure to attract any players in the immediate area and find those who were responsible for mind controlling Shalltear. After the successful implementation of the plan, Shalltear attended a Halloween Festival in Nazarick and wore the costume she used during Jaldabaoth's rampage.[102]
When Momonga initiated the "Daily Household Magic Item Improvement Plan", Shalltear in the Bar with Sous-chef witnessed Demiurge bring a refrigerator to be installed so that all the denizens of the dungeon could experience and provide feedback from the item. Shalltear using the item as a base gained the idea to develop a box that heated food instead of preserving it through cold. Her specifications were delivered to Tsuibayaya and afterwards was delivered to Nazarick for the "Sorcerer Kingdom Daily Household Magic Item Fair". To her surprise her item was combined with Yuri and Aura's proposal of the Warm Pot. Since they came up with similar ideas, Shalltear allowed them to shared credit and the three presented the Heating Box to their peers. The item itself was somewhat successful, though they realized that they needed work adjusting the cooking temperature so that food would not explode.[103]
Whilst guarding the Crack in the Throne Room, Shalltear found the chamber filling in with miasma even though no Chaos Beasts were scheduled to pour through. She was joined by Narberal who came to assist her. The maid reported the situation to Momonga who was on his way with others. The Crack filled the room with a blinding light and engulfed her and Narberal. When the light died away, a Kadomatsu Type Beast was before them. It was quickly killed but with Shiro being active and the return of that type of Chaos Beast, signaled that New Year's was upon them. The vampire and a few others including Momonga and Shiro found themselves to be the only ones unaffected by the mental influence of New Year's.
Since the Hatsumōde had returned on the 1st Floor, Shalltear was sent to monitor the structure for a possible attack. After Momonga and the others finished their preparations to head into the torii and defeat the White Mochi King, Shalltear role of guarding the torii was given to the Evil Lords. Seeing that her colleagues were wearing kimonos and other New Year's theme equipment, the vampire switched to wearing a qipao. Though it did not really fit with the kimonos, Shalltear choose it because it was easier to move in when fighting,
Upon entering the Chaos Zone, Shalltear was sent as a vanguard to attack the Ruler of New Year, delivering the first blow. Later when the entity was defeated, Shalltear assumed her Acidity identity and did a live performance for the general maids in the Amphitheater with the rest of LittleMasStar and Narberal and Lupusregina to celebrate Nazarick's victory.[104]
Shalltear was in agreement with the protagonist and Momonga to develop a new chocolate product to stir up sales and interest, though admitted that it would be difficult as the current chocolate item took some trial and error. Since chocolate was related to Valentine's Day and thereby the Trial of Love, Shalltear promised to cooperate rather than compete with Albedo to keep the peace so that they could tackle the chocolate development plan with each other. The vampire later worked with women who were involved in the original Valentine Plan. She helped to devise the new colors for Golden Chocolate In A Bottle. After the product was a hit in E-Rantel, Shalltear was among those in Nazarick who celebrated the success, though peace quickly ended when she saw Albedo still in her naked apron and preparing to have Mare cover herself in chocolate to attract Momonga. Shalltear furious at this, called foul for Albedo getting the jump on her in the Trial and demanded to be cover in chocolate like her for Momonga.[105]
For the "Chilled Chocolate" task that was assigned to Cocytus, Shalltear wished her fellow Floor Guardians the best of luck, whilst she was dealing with a Chaos Beast subjugation on the 10th Floor. For Cocytus and his assistant's benefit, she and a few others hosted a reenactment of the chocolate tasting party for the two's research in making a chilled chocolate dish. Which later resulted in Cocytus coming up with the Chilled Chocolate Confectionary.[106]
When a new visitor from another world came to Nazarick, this time being a salesman of various goods, Shalltear was part of Momonga's entourage that was included during the presentation of the merchandise.[107]
The Floor Guardian still reeling over her betrayal against Nazarick, even though she was forgiven by Momonga, spent most of her days getting drunk at the bar. There she was comforted by Éclair and Sous-chef though no words could soothe her self-loathing. Since the brainwashing incident, Shalltear had been kept away from participating in field missions, activities that she wished to be part of like the Pleiades.
When Lupusregina's question on the lack of understanding of human monetary systems, prompted a workshop to educate all field agents in the topic, Shalltear took an interest in learning. She found herself in Ashurbanipal, studying for the workshop, and soon was joined by Albedo who was interested in what she was researching, which turned out to be, Office Love of a Capable Woman, a book on romance in the workplace.
After the money workshop hosted by Pandora's Actor concluded, Shalltear and Albedo appeared in business suits to give their own lecture about the business organization of not just Nazarick but also on how human worked. For Shalltear she classified herself as Head of General Affairs, and her section of the presentation, was focused on elaborating the aspects of Nazarick's defenses and countermeasures.
Later after the lecture, Shalltear and Albedo regrouped to discuss the positive results from Momonga. They were using the lecture, taking inspiration from the book in the library to seduce their master by showing off their work professionalism as part of their ongoing Trial of Love competition. Their competition was put on hold, as an emergency arose to deal with a lost shipment of luxury chocolates promised to a prominent noble needed to be replaced. To speed the preparations of the goods, Shalltear coordinated with the other Floor Guardians in transport and organization of tasks. For the duration of the emergency, Shalltear inspected each floor or department to ensure that operations during the crisis was running smoothly. Once the crisis was over, Momonga commended both Albedo and Shalltear for their roles in preparing Nazarick in business ethics, though shortly after both women began fighting for him for his attention.[108]
In Shalltear's feedback on the overworked researched staff at the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute, Shalltear praised the humans for their commitment to the work rather than their health.[109]
While going through her things, Shalltear discovered a shoebox containing a book but could not open it due to a lock. She brought the item to Ashurbanipal so that it could be examined. After a cursory examination it was determined that the book belonged to her creator Peroroncino. However, she was still unable to find a way to open the book, causing her to get drunk at the Bar. Though she took advice from Aura to ask the protagonist and Slimeko to help her open it.
Since the pair were already conducting decoding on secret letters acquired outside of Nazarick, the pair agreed to take on the task as a side project. Through their research of the book and the materials at the library, they found that there was a musical score that gave clues to the password. Once it was decoded the book was opened, revealing it to be an art book of swimsuit designs and details to a secret cache of swimsuits. Upon finding them with permission from Momonga, Shalltear tested out one of the swimsuits, the Beach's Most Beautiful Girl Swimsuit, believing it was left behind by her creator as a testament to his affection for her.[110]
For her punishment in falling under the control of the enemy, Shalltear was sentenced to be Momonga's chair during the Floor Guardians' meeting. Though based on her face of pleasure, Albedo had doubts that this was truly a punishment for the vampire.[111]
After the Calamity of Cracks, Shalltear's adventurer identity was reactivated at Momonga's order as the Greater Doppelgängers filling in for the protagonist, Slimeko and Solution, after they mysteriously vanished reported that the humans in E-Rantel wanted another Greetings and Victory Festival and insisted that Shall and Ku be present. Although there was danger for allowing Shalltear to be out in public due not knowing the identities of who previously brainwashed her in the Katze Plains, Momonga and hie retinue believed that it was a good opportunity to use her as bait to lure the enemy out to gain more information.
Shalltear assumed her cover story of being a fallen noble cursed to be unable to cast magic, and to add to her background claimed that he formed her own adventurer team, but her friends all met unfortunate fates. While being the guest of honor at the festival in E-Rantel, Shall wore a nurse outfit as a costume and participated in the dedication demonstration, fighting against Regi and Zero in the second match and later Blue Roses in the third match.
Once the festival ended, Shall left a lasting impression on her human fans and also acquired a facsimile adventurer plate as a souvenir. Since no one actively targeted Shalltear at the festival and the departure of the Sunlight Scripture from E-Rantel after the Calamity, the mission still indicated that the Theocracy may be the main culprits of the previous attack on the vampire. Though without definite proof, Momonga decided to observe and wait for an opportune moment. In the mean time Shalltear requested more chances to use her undercover identity for Nazarick.[112]
During the rescue mission headed by the protagonist and remaining Pleiades to rescue Slimeko and the other battle maids, Momonga told Shalltear, Albedo and Demiurge a story of the past when he went on an adventure with Herohero, Bukubukuchagama, and Peroroncino. Shalltear taking inspiration, from her creator's and his sibling decided to train in preparation for the day when adventurer identity of Shall could be of use of Nazarick. She then solicit the aid of Aura and Mare help her train without using magic.
While training, Shalltear shared with them of the story Momonga told her. Eventually Cocytus joined them at Momonga's request to have him fight all three Floor Guardians at the Amphitheater. After a fight then timed out to a draw, they were congratulated by Momonga, Demiurge and Albedo. Due to the performance of Shalltear's fighting it was recommended by Albedo that future missions involving the adventurer Shall would be impending which excited the vampire. Later news that the protagonist and the Pleiades were successful in their mission, leading to Nazarick hosting a banquet. When the rescue team arrived at the dungeon, minus the protagonist and Slimeko, Shalltear informed her liege of their arrival.[2]
At the return of the protagonist and the members of the Pleiades from the "other side" of the Crack, Shalltear and her peers were made aware that the homunculus was not really a creation of the Supreme Beings, but an idea that was realized through the power of the Sea of Possibilities. In addition, they learned that he may have shared a possible connection to Enhela Read Gahi who claimed that they were compatriots, serving Kuyō for some specific purpose. Shalltear agreed that it was best to keep the protagonist away from Nazarick and in E-Rantel, and wait for an opportunity to draw out Enhela should he come to claim the homunculus. When she and the rest of the Guardians were asked on their personal feelings about the protagonist, Shalltear still regarded him as a friend despite the danger he posed.[113]
During the plan to fake Princes Renner's death, Shalltear observed the human via a Mirror of Remote Viewing. Afterwards when Renner turned into an imp using a Fallen Seed, Shalltear watched the mock duel between the former princess and Albedo. And then at the banquet welcoming the new imp into Nazarick, Shalltear commended the girl for betraying her country to show her loyalty to Momonga.[114]
While going out to get a drink at the bar on the 9th Floor, she found that others such as Yuri and Entoma were already there at the establishment to see a music venue by Βγδth, composed of Lupusregina, CZ and Narberal. After the show, the Floor Guardian talked to Sous-chef on the style of music, finding that while it was strange, they enjoyed it. Later he met up with Demiurge who provided some more details on the purpose of the rock band. During Βγδth's break time, Shalltear overheard them arguing from their dressing room. Before it got ugly, the vampire interrupted and invited the rock band group to vent out their frustrations in the Throne Room where they could go wild against the Chaos Beasts. It proved to be a good cathartic exercise and allowed the Pleiades maids to calm down and think more clearly. Per Demiurge's plan she informed them that LittleMasStar was assembling to challenge Βγδth in a final live show on the 6th Floor. At the show, Shalltear assumed her Acidity identity and with her fellow idols put on a performance that saw them as the victors. Though the idols were triumphant over the rock band, Acidity and the orders admired their hard work and looked forward to future collaborations.[115]
While at Casino Resort Nazarick, Shalltear surveyed the area commenting how popular it is among the general maids. The vampire approached an elder lich attending a table and learned from it that Demiurge had instituted some new rules such as a limit of how many times players can play at a game table. The lich also showed her some of the new prize made by Albedo the Momonga Hanger causing her to admire its artistry. She was spotted by Lupusregina who pulled her aside to confirm something outside in the corridors. Once there, its revealed that the maid had noticed that Shalltear was not alone but was with an invisible Momonga. The vampire complained that the maid almost have them away as she was assisting Momonga in inspecting and asking question about the casino without making his presence known so he wouldn't disturb the patrons. Since Lupusregina offered to interview the general maids visiting the casino for Momonga, Shalltear then departed from her master's side as to hurry to go to subjugate the Chaos Beasts on the 10th Floor.[116]
When Slimeko and Renner were heading to the 5th Floor to speak with Cocytus on creating an ice room for the lizardmen, Albedo wished for Shalltear to be their guide. Though sadly the Floor Guardian was busy guarding the Crack on the 10th Floor, so Slimeko volunteered to fill that role for Renner. After Renner and her allies finished gathering materials from the mountains, they met up with Cocytus again on the 2nd Floor where the [Gate] to the isolated island was connected. The vampire was there to open the [Gate] and expressed jealousy at the group as they were going to see the ice statue of Momonga that was being installed. Later at the Christmas party hosted on the 6th Floor, Shalltear along with the other Floor Guardians flattered the former human princess with her success in maintaining Nazarick's relationship with the lizardmen.[117]
Around New Year's, Shalltear awaited at the Lemegeton with Albedo in preparation of what was supposed to be the annual final showdown against the White Mochi King at the Crack in the Throne Room, however since the last Seven Lucky God Key Item failed to manifest, Shiro who was the Ruler of New Year was not at full strength and hence his counterpart would not appear. So, the Crack only spewed out normal Chaos Beasts rather than the boss.
At a meeting with the leadership of Nazarick, it was discussed who the current New Year was different, as Shalltear found she had no discrepancies in her memories. Previously the denizens of Nazarick were always under a mental spell compelling them to do New Year's activities to gain the key items, but since they were doing so out of their own free will for Shiro's benefits it had ceased. She was mainly concerned about Shiro's existence, as while normally relegated to the 6th Floor, he would regain his strength on a single day of the year. Even more disconcerting was that Shiro was related to the White Mochi King who was perpetuating the annual attacks on New Year's.
After the final New Year's activity was decided by Shiro, it being seeing the "first sunrise", Momonga expressed his desire to go with Shiro outside Nazarick to the Azerlisia Mountains. Shalltear offered herself to be his escort but was told off by Aura who wanted to hear an explanation from Momonga of why he wanted to. Even after hearing it was mainly for a state visit of the occupied territories, Shalltear when alone with the other Floor Guardians, noted that Momonga also refused Cocytus. Though she thought since being an undead, would be a better escort since mental effect is rather limited to their kind. It was finally believed by the NPCs that Momonga was anticipating some scenario where one of them could be affected by Shiro under a mental spell, and Momonga kept them out due to safety concerns. The vampire was among those that bid Momonga well on his excursion.
When he returned, Shalltear and a few others were dress in kimonos for the remainder of New Year. The biwa having manifested in Nazarick due to Shiro and Momonga completing the "first sunrise" was about to be offered to the former, however Shalltear wanting to seeing how strong Shiro had grown opted to fight him in a mock battle in a "test of strength". After being satisfied, Shalltear was flattered when the boy complimented her chest, though Albedo teased her of it being just flat, to Shalltear's irritation. The key item was then given to Shiro, who then regained his full power. Shalltear participated in the raid on the Bishamonten Shrine, and witnessed Shiro defeat the White Mochi King. Later the Floor Guardian commented on how standard these New Year's activities had become to the dungeon's culture.[118]
For the upcoming pep rally being held in E-Rantel to celebrate the mass production of the Chaos Adaptive Equipment for the rescue operation through the Crack, representatives from the Quadripartite Alliance were to attend. Among the attendees was Antilene, who Shalltear had befriended while in her Shall identity. Nazarick thinking it strange for a half-elf to have such a auspicious position in the Theocracy, decided to approach the half-elf through not only Aura and Mare who were elves, but use Shalltear's personal relationship to their advantage.
The Floor Guardian as per agreed in Demiurge's plan was to "reunite" with Antilene during the pep rally event in a most unexpected manner, having been attracted to the event that was gathering brave heroes to cross over to the "other side" of the Crack. Once again donning her identity of Shall, the undercover agent had a joyous reunion with her friend and joined her on a tour with her new elven companions. All three asked subtle questions of her life in the Theocracy, but so far were only able to determine that Antilene's existence was very hush and sheltered. Their undercover mission, ended leaving Antilene in awe after witnessing the Nazarick agents defeat and spare a trio of dissenters, incited by Demiurge. Once back in Nazarick Shalltear reported her work to Momonga and also witnessed a bickering fight between Sebas and Demiurge over the latter's omission of inciting the human trio to fight against the agents during the mission.[119]
At a meeting to discuss the success of Lupusregina and CZ's infiltration of the Anti-Imperial Faction and stealing the Blood Oath for New Six Arms, after being effectively trained in etiquette and dancing, Albedo volunteered herself to be the next person to be trained with Momonga serving as her dancer partner. This was fiercely objected by Shalltear, arguing that she should be the one to receive training given her undercover identity as a noble turned adventurer. Before an fight broke out, Aura suggested that Momonga receive training instead with Lupusregina as his dancer partner.[120]
Shalltear attended the emergency meeting in the Round Table Room, monitoring the worsening situation of the miasma crisis that was spreading through every major human city. When it was decided that all resources would go to E-Rantel due to the close proximity of their allies, Shalltear voiced caution as the main culprit of this event was Enhela Read Gahi who she believed set the entire fiasco as an elaborate trap for the protagonist. Though she came around understanding that Nazarick needed to save the humans as they were useful shields. In regard to the cure for the contamination of the miasma, Shalltear understood the dangers it possessed as the it didn't just eliminate an affliction, but had the potential of strengthening individuals who could be threats to Nazarick. Even with these risks, she agreed with her liege's reasoning that enhancing humanity in the long run would be beneficial to them.
When the field team finally encountered Enhela in E-Rantel and learned that he possessed an ability called "Divine Right" to control the Cracks, with the possibility that the protagonist could do the same, Shalltear expressed worry that the homunculus was growing into an even bigger danger. After Enhela used his "Hacking" to take over Nazarick, Shalltear evacuated the dungeon using the Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown. Upon finally meeting Enhela, Shalltear wanted to kill the priest for defiling home.[121]
To conquer Nazarick, Shalltear would lead one of five team that would be sent into the dungeon. Her team included Pandora's Actor, the protagonist, Slimeko, Solution and a Death Knight. Before heading into the raid, Shalltear checked on the servants who managed to evacuate before Enhela took over Nazarick, among them being Foire, the only general maid to escape. Due to their low fighting abilities Shalltear assigned her servants to protect them even at the cost of their lives.
Later when the protagonist felt he was being alienated by Momonga due to his connections to Enhela and being a imaginary figment of the Sea of Possibilities, Shalltear along with Pandora's Actor tried to discourage. They pointed out that since he was assigned to a team with some of the strongest Guardians in Nazarick, which meant Momonga was thinking of his safety.
Her team took a route that led them to a recreation of the ruined city of Kalinsha where they were faced with replicas of their comrades. Even one of the Dark Warrior (Pandora's Actor). Since Shalltear had trained with the Area Guardian, she was sure she could hand the imposter.
Shalltear's team was the second to arrive on the 10th Floor, right after Momonga's. There they were greeted by Enhela who invited them into the Throne Room to speak. His back turned, Shalltear was tempted to skewer him from behind, though Momonga told her to remain calm. After a break down of negotiations perpetuated by the protagonist's rejection of the mad priest, with the human manifesting a form of Chaos Adaptive Equipment. While the others were astounded by this, Shalltear told them to analyze later as she engaged Enhela in battle.
Despite outnumbering Enhela and using their strongest attacks, the priest easily defeated Shalltear and the others. She and the others were incapacitated and unable to prevent Enhela from magical grabbing the protagonist and planned to fatally injure him to force him to awaken his Priesthood. But after Slimeko sacrificed herself, taking the blow for the protagonist, the homunculus awakened his abilities, but stayed loyal to Momonga. Soon enough the other teams arrived to reinforce the first two teams. With this Shalltear declared that the tides had changed and together her comrades and Momonga attacked Enhela together. When the priest was finally killed by the protagonist, shattering into shards of Chaos Stone, Shalltear wondered if he was truly dead, before hearing the voice of the Devourer of the Nine Worlds reverberate through Nazarick.
A month later Shalltear attended a threat assessment meeting on the Devourer of the Nine Worlds. On the focus of its discarded molted shells which turned out to be the Unidentified Beasts from the Northern Cave, Aura questioned how non-living material could act alive. Shalltear though stated if the shells were just an ordinary shell, it probably wouldn't have extended tentacles and attacked.[122]
Trivia
- Shalltear Bloodfallen's strength differs greatly in the Light Novel and Web Novel. It can be said that Shalltear is stronger in the Light Novel than she was in the Web Novel.
- Shalltear was the first Floor Guardian and NPC under Ainz's order to betray him and to not complete her assigned mission.
- Ever since Shalltear's betrayal from Light Novel Volume 3, it encourages Ainz to prep and set up new future plans in later volumes, attempting to lure out the mysterious perpetrators who were responsible for mind-controlling her with an unknown World Item.
- Out of all the NPCs concerning Nazarick, Ainz remembers the setting and skills of Shalltear the most secondly after Pandora's Actor who happens to be the first on his list of knowing a lot about.
- Shalltear Bloodfallen usually speaks like a geisha. Specifically, in Japanese she often appends her sentences with "de arinsu" which is a sort of verbal/grammatical quirk attributed to Edo-Period prostitutes.
- Shalltear could resist [The Goal of All Life is Death] skill by using the effect of a resurrection item on herself within 12 seconds.
- The revival of Shalltear is estimated to cost around 500 million YGGDRASIL gold.
- Shalltear's faith comes from her belief in the bloodline of origin, God Cainabel. However, it is superficial as she felt nothing after his defeat at the hands of Ainz Ooal Gown guild members. As she recalls, they referred to him as nothing more than a "weak event boss."
- In Overlord Movie 2: Shikkoku no Eiyuu and unlike the anime, it seems that Shalltear was already fully-equipped with her legendary class armor before battling Ainz.
- Her masked version is called "Hakurei Miko Masked" in Mass of the Dead. One of official Overlord game.
- Unlike the Light Novel where she goes by Honyopenyoko, Shalltear was given in the Web Novel the false name as Camilla who is an apprentice of Landfall.[123]
- Despite being a vampire, Shalltear does not hate garlic but it seems that the poison produced through alchemy from garlic etc. is effective against her kind.[124]
- It is later on revealed her blonde masked guise was based on Renner as a sign that Renner was already conspiring with Nazarick and why she didn't attack when she saw Climb is because she was informed in advance not to harm him.
- In Episode 6 of Overlord IV, "The Impending Crisis", the oversized bow in her hair is shown to have the capacity to carry items, to a certain extent. This is evidenced by Shalltear producing a notebook and pen from within it upon receiving instructions from Lord Ainz. (It is not uncommon for a woman to store small items in her bra, but as it is common knowledge that Shalltear's chest hardly warrants the use of one, the bow was probably her only alternative.)
Quotes
- (To Momonga): "Ah, my master, my beloved master, the only one whom I cannot rule over..."
- (To Ainz): "An incarnation of beauty. You are the most beautiful person in the world. Even jewels pale in comparison to your snow-white body."
- (To the Floor Guardians about Momonga): "Ah, after being exposed to Momonga-sama's awesome presence, I could not help but get excited...I fear my underwear has gone through a bit of a crisis..."
- (To Albedo): "What? Having Momonga-sama, the most beautiful of the Supreme Beings, bless us with his energy is a reward! Anyone who doesn't get wet from that must have something wrong in their head! Or could it be that you don't just look pure, but you don't have any fleshly desires at all, you big-mouthed gorilla?!"
- (To Albedo): "Don't think you've won just because you're the Guardian Overseer and can stay next to Momonga-sama. If you really think that way, I'll laugh my ass off."
- (To Ainz's Death Knight): "I want Ainz-sama's love. I don't mean to say it only has to be me. After all, it's normal for a great man to claim many women for himself. It would be surprising if any woman could resist an absolutely amazing man like Ainz-sama. However, I want to be the first in his heart."
- (To Brain): "It can't be helped if you don't know how high the stars are, right? Childish thoughts like being able to touch the stars by reaching out for them are best left for a girl with childish sentiments like Aura. They're disgusting when you hear them coming from an adult."
- (To Brain): "...Could it be that you're not actually that strong? I thought you were stronger than those chaps at the entrance...Sorry about that, I measure strength in meters, so I can't discern differences of a millimeter or two."
- (To Brain): "Trained hard? What a pointless statement. I was created strong, so there was no need to train hard in order to become stronger."
- (To Brain): "Are we playing tag then? You're going to play all sorts of games with me? Then I shall enjoy myself, ahahahaha~"
- (Dying in combat against Ainz): "Ahhhh, Long live Ainz Ooal Gown–sama. You are supreme, truly the strongest existence in all of Nazarick."
- (To Ainz): "Ah! Ainz-sama! About that matter, please give me my punishment! Even though I am a Guardian, I still carried out such a grave sin so stupidly. Please give me the most severe punishment!"
- (To Ainz): "Ainz-sama, I also support Albedo's opinion. Please serve a punishment upon me. This will also allow me to achieve joy out of loyalty."
- (To Ainz while receiving her punishment from him): "It's not painful at all! This is like a reward!"
- (To Ainz): "Yes!!! I am fully prepared to protect you, Ainz-sama!!!! I shall exterminate anyone who dares to oppose you, Ainz-sama!!!!!"
- (To Aura): "It's been so long...but at last, I can make up for my past failure and let everyone know that Shalltear Bloodfallen can be of use to everyone!"
- (To Aura): "But when I was in the human city, Demiurge singled me out. He must have felt I was useless. If that was what Demiurge — the greatest mind of Nazarick — thought about me, then wouldn't the others, especially Ainz-sama — whose wisdom surpasses that of Demiurge — feel the same way?"
- (To Ainz): "Your words have cleansed my heart of the shame of my previous mistake, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
