Rufus (ルフス) is an undead who lives in the Slane Theocracy whose existence is that of the utmost highest secret only known by the absolute top echelons of its government.

Appearance[]

No information on his appearance is given.

Personality[]

Not much is known about Rufus's personality, though those that are familiar with Rufus seem to respect him.

Background[]

Not much is known about him, except he is a type of undead. It has also been made clear that his existence is not suppose to be known by outsiders or most of the Theocracy, if otherwise the Black Scripture would normally kill those who know to ensure the secret.

Chronology[]

The Ruler of Conspiracy Arc[]

Main article: The Ruler of Conspiracy Arc

During a meeting with the highest ranking members of the Slane Theocracy, they wondered if Ainz Ooal Gown was perhaps Surshana reborn. Though they immediately dismissed the idea as the god was killed by the Eight Greed Kings. Even so if he had been resurrected, they were certain that a specific follower of their god would have informed them about it beforehand.[1]

The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc[]

Main article: The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc

Azuth Aindra mentioned his name during his meeting with members of the Black Scripture. The leading representative feigned a lack of familiarity with the name. However after Azuth disclosed that Rufus identity was that of an undead that was well-respected by the Black Scripture, the present Black Scripture members became tense and hostile towards the former. However the representative managed to restrain his fellows from any further rash action and quickly departed from the inn.[2]

Abilities and Powers[]

As an undead, he should have the standard abilities as other undead types, lacking the need to eat or sleep, resistance to slashing and piercing attacks, enhanced night vision, and the ability to heal from negative energy.

Relationships[]

Black Scripture[]

The 5th Seat of the Scripture, Quaiesse is shown to be aware of his existence and respects him, however he appears to only know him professionally.

The 10th through 12th seats of the Scripture is shown to hold him in high esteem and respect him greatly. As seen where all three took serious, potentially murderous offense at Azuth Aindra's insults towards him and nearly slaughtered him together with Blue Roses in order to protect Rufus from having the information of his existence from being leaked out.

Platinum Dragon Lord[]

Their exact relationship is unknown, but the Platinum Dragon Lord is shown to be aware of his existence as an undead and is currently known to hold some sort of critical intel on him that could potentially endanger the Slane Theocracy.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible he is the fore-mentioned first follower of Surshana since he is an undead and his first follower is still alive after six hundred years.
  • Rufus is a boy's name of Latin origin meaning "red-head."
  • According to Valerian Ein Obinie there is a rumored person known as the guardian deity of the Slane Theocracy and is the master of Antilene Heran Fouche.[3]
