Ranger (野伏 (レンジャー) ) is a job class that hailed originally from YGGDRASIL.

Background

Like Rogue, Ranger is a class that involves collecting information or committing investigation.[1] For instance, they can scan the grassland around them for possible tracks and other signs of creatures as well as keeping an eye on the forest.[2]

Known Rangers

Abilities and Powers

Rangers possessed a keen sense of hearing, sensing, and perceiving things that normal people cannot do in places like a forest. For that reason, rangers are usually given the role to act as the eyes and ears within a party.[3] Rangers like Lukrut would utilize tools to dig holes on the ground, setting up booby traps for enemies.[4]

Most of the rangers are said to be archers with the capacity to fight in long-ranged combat, using the kind of weapon to shoot objects from a distance away. They have search skills when used to investigate something.[5] Additionally, they had infiltration skills which allowed them to sneak into areas occupied by enemies without getting detected.[6]

Rangers were also said to be able to sense concealed foes even if they were being hidden by magic and did not know the exact location. Not only that with rangers they had keen senses that could sometimes sense and escape from damage if they were attacked with area-of-effect spells.

For high-level rangers, they had the ability to stay hidden even if there was no cover. And if the level difference between a ranger and an opponent was large enough, it was possible for the observer to not notice anything out of place even if they met eyes with the ranger.[7]

Active

  • Invisibility: Makes the user invisible from the naked eye.
  • Sky Eye: A long-range skill that permits its user to watch a scene from afar within two kilometers.[8]
  • Fly: A 3rd tier spell that gives the user the ability to fly.
  • Hawk Eye[9]

Trivia

  • Lizardmen in the Great Lake had rangers who formed hunting parties to catch fish.[10]
  • According to Maruyama's Tweet on October 14, 2015, ranger skills have a feeling of applying to firearms/projectile weapons/missiles. In other words, ranger skills can be used with anything that propels projectiles.
  • Elves were said to be capable of becoming skilled rangers, primarily due to their environment in the Great Forest of Evasha.[11]
  • The Slane Theocracy hoped to use the war with the elves to force its soldiers gain the expertise of fighting in the forest when fighting with the elves. It was believed that the more casualties would create the urgency of the survivors to attain the Ranger class.[12]
