Raid on Eight Fingers' Brothel was an attack on the last brothel in the Royal Capital owned by the criminal organization Eight Fingers. The attack was orchestrated by the unlikely trio of Nazarick's Head Butler Sebas, Re-Estize Princess Renner's bodyguard Climb, and renegade warrior Brain and kickstarted a series of events that would result in the Eight Finger's downfall.
Background[]
After buying a magic scroll from the Magician's Guild, Sebas Tian took a short cut through the alleys of the Royal Capital. He came across a man attempting to dispose of a beaten girl. Unwilling to abandon the girl, Sebas intervened, giving the man several platinum coins as compensation to release her into his custody. Sebas took her back to the mansion where he and Solution Epsilon were based at. After healing the girl, he convinced Solution to accept the girl, Tuare, as a maid to add to their cover. Though Solution was initially against the idea, she relented as he was in charge of the intelligence gathering mission in the capital.
No sooner did a day pass, that Tsuare was beginning to become accumulated as part of the household, the mansion was visited by officer Staffan Heivish and his aide Succulent accompanied by the Royal Army. Staffan, using his power as a city official, accused Sebas of harboring a slave on the property which was a violation of the Kingdom's law, and Succulent acted as a concerned "employer" of the girl and also demanded 300 gold coins for Sebas and the return of Tsuare over to their custody. The "officials" were all agents from the Eight Fingers' slave peddling sector and were only trying to extort Sebas for money, not knowing that they had essentially shot themselves in their own foot by enraging an inhuman monstrosity. Sebas sees through their corruption, but passively decides to allow them to think they cowed a "frail old butler" while making plans to utterly crush them later on. After two men leave without resorting to violence, Sebas decides to go out and crush the criminal group himself to prevent any further trouble. In contrast, Succulent, thinking that eliminating Sebas would allow them to manipulate his "master" Solution, perhaps even turning her into a high-priced slave/hooker (another horribly mistaken idea), assigned assassins to kill him. At the meantime, Solution considers Sebas taking a human to his care as a betrayal and reported him to Ainz Ooal Gown for an interrogation.[1]
While out in the city, Sebas intervenes in a fight where a group of men that are beating up a defenseless young boy. After easily besting the men with physical abilities, he attracts the attention of two people in the crowd; Climb who admired his chivalrous behavior and Brain Unglaus who witnessed the old man's superhuman movements. The two followed him to an alley. Sebas Tian intentionally leads them to a dead end, where he calls out Climb to reveal himself and his reason for tailing him. Surprised that the young man wished to learn his technique that he displayed earlier, Sebas Tian determining Climb's character was good decided to give him a lesson. While he tutors Climb, he explains his story of rescuing Tuare from slave traffickers, seeking the warrior's help if there were any righteous individuals within the Kingdom who can come to his aid in this matter. Sebas was reassured by Climb that his liege would surely help Sebas' predicament out as long as the latter receive consent from her for assistance beforehand. The first part of Climb's training was testing out his determination by swinging his fist at him with an intent to kill. Climb was barely able to hold on to dear life, but manage to move out of the way by overcoming his fear of death. Before Sebas continues training Climb, they were interrupted by Brain Unglaus, who was watching them in silence until now. Confused on how Climb was able to endure such intimidation from the butler, Sebas reasons with Brain that he need to have a dedicated goal in life, something which he cannot easily forsake to conquer fear and not succumb to it. As a result, Sebas' words of encouragement had convincingly stirred the hearts of men like Brain and Climb to reflect their respective value as warriors to their own cause. He instructs Brain to train Climb in his stead.
However, Sebas' conversation with the two were cut short when they are ambushed by the assassins sent by Succulent. Unlike with Climb and Brain where he had reason to do so, Sebas did not unleash his killing intent at his other pursuers solely because the former view them as enemies and had no intention of scaring them off. Sebas effortlessly crushes three of the Assassins while Climb and Brain defeats the other two with relative ease. After capturing one of them from the death battle, Sebas with Brain and Climb interrogated the last assassin and were told that they were sent to kill the butler by Succulent. After defeating the assassins, Brain and Climb decide to join Sebas in his goal to purge the corruption of Eight Fingers starting with the brothel where Tuare was discovered.[2]
Battle[]
Traveling together, they head to their destination. According to the information from one of the assassins, they learn that there are two entrances. One at the front and an emergency exit in one of the buildings further down from the brothel. To cover both points, they separate into two groups. Sebas taking the front entrance while, Climb and Brain handle the back exit.
Now that his allies were out of sight, Sebas Tian was allowed to make full use of his abilities without any witnesses. His main motivation for attacking the brothel was for Tuare's sake, as Sebas believed that if he destroyed this brothel, it would stop Eight Fingers dealings with him, albeit temporarily. If he was lucky enough to find confidential papers and the like, they would have to focus on how to retaliate and may even forget about Tuare completely. In the worst case, even if the result ended up only buying some time, it could provide an opportunity for him to let Tuare escape. He may even be able to find a better way.
Though the front entrance was naturally highest with a steel door, Sebas Tian, having no skills at lock-picking, instead pierced his arm right through the metal like paper. Opening the door for himself, he came across a stunned guard who he explained that the door was slightly rusted allowing him entry. From that point on, Sebas brutally murdered everyone who stood in his way. The second man in the brothel heard the commotion at the front. Sebas seeing that his way was being blocked proceeded to swat the man against a wall and continue on his way. Stopping by a door near where man's body's remains were pasted to a wall, he found two men drinking in a room. Taken out of their drunken stupor upon seeing the pasted body of one of their comrades and the smell of blood, they cried in fear and gave up the information of where the secret exit was located in the brothel. Sebas kindly thanked them before proceeding to kill them, believing their souls were not worth mercy for the hell they and their institution put Tsuare through.
Sebas was not done with his display of carnage and moved to retrieve their corpses. Gathering them, he lined the area around the stairs with the utterly destroyed bodies so that they would strike fear and hesitation to any who tried to flee. After moving the corpses, Sebas brought his foot down on the secret floor entrance to destroy the mechanical parts that allowed it to close and created a hole on the floor to prevent it from being used in an escape.
Sebas Tian later came across a naked Staffan in one of the rooms of the brothel, who was viciously brutalizing one of the prostitutes for his sick pleasures. Seeing the latter's mistreatment of one of the slaves, Sebas brutally hurt him by dishing out the same punishment he gave his victim. Being constantly slapped with enough force enough to damage his face, Staffan attempted to run and call for help. He was calmly chased by the butler who informed him that no help would come, inducing fear in the corrupt official on his helplessness. Staffan ended dead after succumbing from the excruciating pain of a kick delivered by the butler.
Back in the other building, Climb and Brain take the men there by surprise-killing all three men. After doing a sweep of the first floor and later the second floor, they find nothing suspicious or secret exit. To assist them Climb used a Bell of Detect Secret Doors to locate a hidden entrance on the floor. Next, he used Bell of Remove Trap to nullify the poison-laced crossbow guarding the secret door. The two made their way down, and found a passage leading to a locked door forcing Climb to use another item, Bell of Open Lock. They found themselves in a spacious hall containing a cage and countless wooden crates was stacked up against the wall. On the opposite wall, there was a door which Brain decide to go through and investigate. Climb left alone began to pursue through the room looking for clues tying Eight Fingers to the operation. He soon found a crate that was two meters tall. After trying to move it, he discovered that he was unable to opening. Turning his attention to a nearby crate, he found it to be full of maid clothes, when the two meter craft suddenly opened.
Rather than being hollow, the inside was a passage that connected to a secret tunnel. Two men emerged from the crate, Succulent and Cocco Doll. After getting an alarm that the brothel was being invaded, the two had take this route to escape. They notice Climb, with Cocco Doll recognizing him as the subordinate of Princess Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself. The executive asks Succulent to acquire Climb for him. Climb sensing that he may be outmatched by the more seasoned warrior calls out for help. The other side was now pressured by the need to finish this fight as quickly as possible. Climb resolved to keep them in the room for as long as possible. Succulent was he first to draw blood from the bodyguard, with an attack that Climb could not see. Now that he was injured Succulent was about to escape with Cocco Doll, however Climb anticipated this and was hoping that they would leave him alive while one of his allies catch up to them upstairs in a pincer attack. As for Succulent's attack, Climb realized that it was an illusion-based technique.
Despite being injured Climb kept them busy. He tells Succulent that he figured out the trick he used was a combination of being an Illusionist and Fencer. Succulent seeing he has been found out, admits that his abilities fall short as a warrior but was confident that he could defeat a warrior like Climb. To demonstrate, Succulent’s created an illusion where his body became divided and it looked as if several of him were overlapping through [Multiple Vision]. Although it seemed like one of them would be the real body, there was no guarantee that that was true.
Climb’s objective was to buy time, so he activated the ‘Ability Boost’ and the ‘Strengthen Perception’ martial arts, trying to cut down as many of the clones as he could. Succulent was unscathed and used [Scintillating Scotoma] to strike his opponent under cover of his illusion. To avoid and mitigate the sword strikes on his body, Climb used 'Evasion'. Then Climb manages to hit something, seemingly Succulent who lands on the floor. However Succulent had been toying with Climb. It turns out the Succulent that Climb thought to be his opponent was an illusion created by Succulent using [Fox Sleep] that he can activate after receiving an injury.
Just as Climb was about to be killed by Succulent, Climb unleashed a new technique which he learned from confronting Sebas' killing intent. Thanks to the training with Sebas, this allowed Climb to increase all of his abilities by one level for a short period of time and uses it to fight Succulent. He succeeds in injuring him but is ultimately unable to defeat him. Succulent injured, is about to take vengeance on Climb, but is stopped by the return of Brain. Brain after confirming, Climb was still alive turned to face Succulent, who upon learning his name is shocked. Knowing his reputation, the Six Arms member tries to convince the mercenary to join the ranks of Eight Fingers, offering money and magic items as incentive. Brain declines to join, following in a philosophy Sebas Tian made him realize: "Strength that is for the sake of others is greater than strength that is only for your own sake." Brain ends the fight with one strike much to Cocco Doll shock and Climb's awe. Cocco Doll is later incapacitated by Sebas Tian who has arrived. Taking a look at Climb, Sebas Tian uses his skill in Ki to heal his comrade.
Aftermath[]
By the end of this raid, he and the two have successfully captured Cocco Doll and Succulent as well as having rescue the people who were locked up in the brothel. With the objective clear, Sebas advised Climb and Brain to not make any mention of him during their raid together as he came to the Re-Estize Kingdom to do business. Renner later manipulated the Eight Fingers to kill all of the prostitutes Sebas, Brain and Climb saved in order to prevent them from hitting on Climb.
Later, Sebas returned to the mansion and was met with Solution out of her disguise and in full battle maid equipment. She promptly states that Ainz Ooal Gown is waiting for him as the interrogation begins. During the interrogation, Ainz is accompanied by Cocytus, Demiurge and Victim, who are preparing to execute Sebas if things go awry. Thankfully, Sebas is capable of proving his own loyalty towards Ainz and is allowed to stay with Tsuare.
After news of the brothel's fall was made known to Eight Fingers, Zero and the rest of Six Arms came to examine the scene. Zero, infuriated that a mere butler caused this made plans for retribution on this stain on Six Arm's reputation, starting off by bribing the prison guards on Succulent and freeing him and getting revenge on Sebas for his interference, then abducting Tsuare once Ainz and his interrogation team left the mansion.[3] This prompts Ainz to start a massive retaliation campaign that would see the organization nearly destroyed and its remains completely under control of Nazarick.
