Quagoa Invasion was a large-scale attack by the United Quagoa Clans to destroy the Dwarf Kingdom and claim dominance over the Azerlisia Mountains.
Background[]
In the past the Quagoa were just a primitive race of Demi-humans that inhabited the underground of the mountains. Though they competed with the dwarves over ores, they were not seriously regarded as a threat the dwarves merely chased them away from their territory using lightning enhanced weapons. In truth the beastmen often regarded their own kind and rival clans as enemies and spent more time fight each other.
However at some point that change with the birth and ascension of Pe Riyuro, a revolutionary Quagoa leader that surpassed their racial hero of old, Pu. Through his leadership and knowledge the Quagoa Lord United all eight clans to form the United Quagoa Clans and began directing his people with the goal of conquering the entire mountain range.
Overtime more the demi-humans frequently attacked the dwarves in groups of hundreds. In fact there had been more attacks during the Commander-in-chief’s ten years of service than he could remember.
When news that a Quagoa were spotted near the northeastern dwarves city of Feo Raidho, the dwarves thinking that it would tragedy if their cities were destroyed piecemeal, so decided to temporarily abandon the city and moved to the city of Feo Jera.
Since there was still veins of ores in the mines of Feo Raido, the dwarven citizen believed that it was once their armies are ready, they would intend to take it back.
Three years passed and soon the threat of invasion turned into rumors and hearsay by majority of the dwarves in the Dwarf Kingdom. The psychological conditioning of peace nearly proved their undoing when the Quagoa attempted to invade Feo Jera.
Pe Riyuro in preparation for the assault on Feo Jera raised an army, with each clan sending 2,000 of their best warriors, bringing a total of 16,000 warriors.
Battle[]
Originally Feo Jera, the last city of the Dwarf County, was thought to be relatively safe due to the Great Rift, a chasm that ran along the city’s western side. Said chasm acted as a natural barrier and protected the city from all manner of monstrous threats. The Great Rift was regarded as impassable. The only way to cross the Great Rift was a suspension bridge that was guarded by a fortress which was manned by the forces of the Dwarven Army and turned away all attacks that the Quagoa tried to launch.
However the notion of its impossibility was broken when the Quagoa after sending several scouting parties at the orders of Pe Riyuro to seek an alternative route to attack the fortress at the cost of some of their lives, eventually found a path that bypassed the Rift and ran alongside the fortress. To efficiently deploy his forces, Pe Riyuro divided his forces in three groups, one assigned to find and capture any fleeing dwarves, another being the main force that would loot and conquer the city and the last group being the vanguard was filled with elite Quagoa that would bring down the fortress guarding the bridge.
The elite Quagoa using this knowledge crossed the Great Rift and attacked the fortress. Under the leadership of Yozu a Red Quagoa who spurred the elites of the various clans to compete to swiftly bring down the fortress. Despite the fortress possessing weapons that specialized in dealing electrical damage to Quagoa, they were taken by surprise and quickly overtaken. The fortress's entrance now unbarred to them, allowed the main force to proceed unhindered.
The guards guarding the gate leading to Feo Jera had noticed that communication with the fortress was cut off and were quickly alerted to the situation. The Commander-in-Chief understanding the threat the Quagoa possessed ordered the gates to the tunnel entrance connecting the fortress to Feo Jera to be closed. The hordes of Quagoa came rushing through the tunnel, but were held back by the army’s three most skilled magic casters. Thanks to them the soldiers managed to shut mithril and orichalcum gates preventing the demi-humans entry.
Though breaking the gate was beyond the capabilities of the primitive Quagoa, the Demi-humans could still breach it if they dug around the door. It was only a matter of time before the Quagoa broke through and Dwarven Army having few options considered either buying time to bury the gate or calling an immediate evacuation of Feo Jera. Though such a decision would be debated by the Regency Council which the Commander-in-Chief loathed were not truly aware of how serious their conflict with the Quagoa was. Before a decision could be made, a messenger on a Riding Lizard brought word of monsters requesting entry into the city from the surface fortress.
The monsters as turned out were a delegation from the Sorcerer Kingdom, led by Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown, seeking to establish trade relations with the Dwarf Country. While the soldiers were initially suspicious of the undead, they were convinced to deliver news of his arrival after one of the guards recognized their guide, Gondo Firebeard. The delegation had previously visited the abandoned city of Feo Raidho, where they met with one Gondo who updated him on the current state of the nation. Shortly after their meeting, Feo Raidho had been invaded by a force of Quagoa who were sent to the deserted city in advance of the invasion of Feo Jera. It was the mission of these Quagoa by the Clan Lord to ambush and slaughter any dwarves who attempted to use the city to escape from Feo Jera. The Quagoa force however did not anticipate the armed delegation of the foreign nation and were swiftly captured. From interrogation, the Sorcerer King learned of Feo Jera’s imminent doom and thus rushed to the last city of dwarves to offer aid.[1]
Once the Commander-in-Chief arrived with his Chief of Staff, he and his men were in awe and fear of the undead's power. Like them he was still wary of the Sorcerer King as his appearance after the Quagoa invasion was too convenient, yet the Sorcerer King was willing o provide material evidence through the Quagoa he captured, making the dwarf believe the undead's words. Seeing that the undead probably knew of the dire straits his people were in, he held nothing back honestly admitted that the nation was in bad need of reinforcements to push back the demi-human invasion.
Ainz seeing an opportunity to get in good graces with the Dwarf Kingdom offered to lend some of his forces to beat back the Quagoa from the city. In his opinion it would be a terrible waste for the dwarves to be annihilated, as he took the effort to find them. The sheer confidence of the undead surprised the commander, but pressed between the destruction of his people and possible salvation, he ultimately agreed to the Sorcerer King's offer.
At the other side of the gate leading to the suspension bridge, the regular Quagoa troops were still unable to venture any further due to the gate. Despite being creatures that fed on minerals biting through mithril was still beyond their abilities. Even when they tried to dig around the gate they found their way blocked by various lattices of the same metal buried in stone. However the demi-humans knew that their enemy were living on borrowed time. Though they could have called the Red or Blue Quogoa to deal with the problem, those were held in reserve for the time being. Thus the Quogoa rested and waited for an opportunity.
It seemingly came when the gates started to open. Thinking that the dwarves were opening their gates to surrender, the Quagoa immediately prepared to flood through the open. Before the gates could fully open, one of the Quagoa eager for blood stuck his arm through. It was suddenly cut off leaving the warrior in immense pain. The sight of their companion writhing in pain from a wound that should have been repelled frightened the Quagoa. Though some backed away, members of the various clans decided to stand firm as it would bring shame if they ran. All members of the clans then stood together to face the unknown threat in formation. Ten Quagoa then launched themselves at the gap through the gate, but to their shock were blocked by a massive tower shield wielded by a armored giant. The giant in one fell cleaved three of the Quagoa's heads. In face of the terrible creature all the warriors' courage vanished putting in their desire to live. Soon another armored giant, but what shocked them more was the sight of their fallen comrade rising from the dead.
Whilst the horror show was taking place, Yozu was commanding the remaining Quagoa force on the other side of the Great Rift, making plans to destroy the fortress in order to widen the tunnel for their army. However his plans were halted when he heard the roar on the other side of the Rift. Seeing several Quagoa fleeing out of the fortress, Yozu tried to get a handle on what was going on. Thinking it was a dwarven counterattack, Yozu order his warriors to continue the advance to retain control of the fortress. His force was just crossing the bridge when members of the assault team came fleeing towards them, being chased by towering black armored giants. The sight shocked Yozu and his subordinates, but nothing could shock them more when an undead crowd came behind the giants. Yozu seeing them realized that the corpses were under some sort of magic that controlled the dead. The moving corpses, made the commander think this was a sort of secret dwarven weapon and believed that the giant were in fact golems tamed by the dwarves.
Though initially thinking that the 'golems' were only interested in taking the fortress, Yozu was planning to launch a counterstrike, until the pair took notice of the force at the bridge. The giants then charged at the bridge, blew through the fleeing Quagoa, sending many falling to their deaths. Realizing that they would reach the other side, Yozu called his subordinates to cut the ropes to the bridge as a matter of survival. Those that listened to his order quickly tried to bite through the steel cables of the bridge. To give them time, Yozu order an assault team to stall the giants. Though it was certain death, a suicide squad was formed to fight the giants. They were killed and the bridge still had not fallen. Yozu desperate moved into action and leapt from his command post to land on the bridge, using his momentum to cut through the cables.
The bridge broke and collapsed taking those standing on it, into the depths of the Rift. Yozu managed to grab a loose cable and prevent himself from falling to his death. One of the giants as a last act of defiance, grabbed a nearby falling Quagoa and threw it towards the Red Quagoa. The improvised projectile missed Yozu, crashing instead one of Yozu's men looking over the cliff killing him.
Aftermath[]
Yozu, after climbing back up noted the remaining survivors, called for a retreat. In order to warn the main force, Yozu ordered the Quagoa Riders to dispatch a message to the Clan Lord.[2] Unknown to the Quagoa, the two black armored giants were actually Death Knights summoned by Ainz Ooal Gown. Their slaughter of the Quagoa on the other side of the gate earned Ainz Ooal Gown an audience with the Regency Council. Whilst waiting for the council to discuss the matter of the visiting Sorcerer King, Ainz sensed that his summons were killed, something which shocked him. Due to their deaths, it was believed by him that a powerful foe existed among the Quagoa making him extremely wary that he had been found out by a possible player or maybe the one responsible for the Bloody Valkyrie Incident.
This in mind Ainz decided to change his plans for the Dwarf Kingdom, as he originally intended for both the Quagoa and dwarves to proceed with warring with each other. But since there was a possible threat to him among the Quagoa, siding with the dwarves was the best option. From there one he proceeded to negotiate with the Regency Council to not only open trade with the Sorcerer Kingdom, but also to recapture Feo Berkana. In exchange the Dwarf Kingdom would give all their runesmiths to the Sorcerer King.
News of the supposed 'golems' would reach Pe Riyuro in the ancient capital of Feo Berkana at the cost of many Quagoa Riders crossing the Land of Molten Magma. When he heard the report from them and also Yozu, the Clan Leader believed that his plans needed to change as it was currently unknown how many of the 'golems' the dwarves had. Having little information on the methods to destroy golems, the Clan Lord decided that they needed to speak with Olasird'arc Haylilyal. Though doing so would not be cheap as the dragon would demand payment. However their plans to do so were interrupted when news of intruders reached him. Since the intruders were from the dwarves no doubt, Pe Riyuro changed his decision in requesting the Frost Dragon to eliminate intruders.[3]
