Potions are medicinal substances that can enhance or treat the body of living creatures.
Background
Potions are a common commodity used by YGGDRASIL players. Healing potions were introduced to the New World via through the displaced YGGDRASIL players. Due to the vitality of the game's potions and the red colour which they display, these elixirs are considered to be the Blood of God by the inhabitants of the New World. The knowledge on manufacturing these potions were even considered to be lost to the annals of history.
Types of Potions
Potions come in various types and uses. In the New World there are three basic types of potions:
- The first is made using only herbs. This type shows its effects gradually and will only strengthen a human's base ability. Its effects are minimal but inexpensive.
- The second is made from herbs and magic. This kind of potion applies it effects more quickly than the former but still requires time. If there is a moment of respite after a battle, most adventurers will use this type of recovery potion.
- The third type are potions created with nothing but magic. It is made by injecting mana into alchemic liquid. The effects of this kind of potion are immediate and quite expensive.
Abilities
The abilities of a potion depends on its properties and specific function. More importantly, there is a way of managing and using ingredients from YGGDRASIL and in the New World without the requirement for a game's potion creation skill viably needed to do so anymore. As a result, the experiment had created something otherworldly like the "purple" potion that is different than both the New World's “blue” potion or YGGDRASIL’s “red” potion.
