This is the thirteenth chapter of Overlord New World.
Summary[]
Part 1[]
Shalltear Bloodfallen continues her report, stating to Ainz Ooal Gown, that the intruders broke into the city from a building connecting to a mine shaft. So far Ainz has no issue with her report, citing her actions to send the Hanzos to scout were correct and that they will wait to make a decision once the Hanzo return from observing the intruders.
Zenberu Gugu on the other hand greets the dwarf relieve to see one alive in the city. Gondo Firebeard recognizes the lizardman as the rumored demi-human who visited the city years ago, explaining that he had emigrated elsewhere but is still fine. Ainz interrupts as he would like Gondo to assist on the strangers who have invaded the city. As force may be used in the dwarven territory and to prevent confusion, the undead would like Gondo's help in confirming the identities of the intruders and also act as a witness to provide a testimonial. Gondo is willing to comply.
The Hanzo then return and report that there are over 100 Quagoa that have invaded the city. From the number Ainz wonders if they could be combat troops, before instructing Shalltear to capture them all. Shalltear responds she will obey the order. He then asks Shalltear why he would ask for her to capture the Quagoa. The Floor Guardian answers to interrogate them for information and to prevent word of the delegation from leaking out. She is correct and Ainz adds that due to the number of intruders they now have multiple sources of information. And if necessary make examples of some of them.
Ainz doesn't say this in front of Gondo, who is still talking to Zenberu, as he still does not trust the dwarf, not wanting to take what he has to say at face value. And as an alternative plan to trading with the dwarves, Ainz even considers doing so with the Quagoa if it should be more beneficial. He then sends Shalltear out, telling her to bring him some good news.
Later Shalltear, donning her armor, is seen dashing on the rooftops of the dwarf city with Aura Bella Fiora following closely behind. While they are heading to the location, Shalltear ponders on Aura's presence, and deduces that even though she is the Floor Guardian assigned to protect Ainz, by having Aura accompany her was proof that he did not trust her. And while she cannot remember her failure, she knows that she committed an unforgivable crime in turning against her master. And while Aura comforted her on this before they set out, she strongly wants to not fail her master this time.
The pair reach the edge of a roof overlooking the gathered Quagoa. Shalltear is aware Aura accompanied her to prevent her from massacring the demi-humans, and so begins the operations. Calling out to the Hanzo she orders them to make sure none of the Quagoa escape and to verify if nobody else is in the tunnel. Then she gives orders to the Nazarick Old Guarders to prevent the Quagoa's escape by surrounding the area. Having given out her orders, the vampire descends from the rooftop.
Upon landing in front of the Quagoa, she takes the demi-humans by surprise and uses [Mass Hold Species] to restrain some of them. Those who were outside of the spell's area of effect attempt to escape, but the vampire used [Mass Hold Species] again and even more are neutralized. She also calls for the Guarders to surround the Quagoa. The Quagoa flee into building which the emerged in the face of the undead. This gives Shalltear a sadistic smile, but she quickly slaps her cheeks to stay on guard.
The Floor Guardian then pursues the escaping Quagoa. There the Quagoa taking a defensive stance try to attack her. The commander of the Quagoa delivers the vampire, which Shalltear allows wishing to verify his strength. His claws prove ineffective in marking Shalltear's armor, much to his confusion. The Quagoa gang up and try to attack her all at once, with Shalltear not bothering to defend herself. After receiving several attacks and left unharmed, Shalltear decides to end the experiment and retaliate.
Part 2[]
The Quagoa find themselves immobilized by Shalltear's power. Seeing their helpless expressions causes the Floor Guardian to smirk, but she quickly wipes it off her face by pulling her cheeks as now was not the time to get ahead of herself. Shalltear calls over an nearby who is carrying a limb Quagoa. It reports that the demi-humans who fled inside the mine shaft have all been captured. The Floor Guardians satisfied then orders them to check the building to see if anything else is hiding, before tying up the Quagoa.
Outside the Quagoa are all sitting down, their paws tied behind their backs before Shalltear and Ainz. The Overlord commends the Floor Guardian for her accomplishing her mission, which Shalltear jumps for joy at being praised by her master. For the next mission, is to extract information from the captured Quagoa. One of the Nazarick Old Guarders the drags one of the Quagoa before the Floor Guardian. Ignoring its pleas for help, Shalltear tells the Quagoa if he answers honestly she will not kill him. Her first question is who is the strongest among them.
The prisoner immediately direct Shalltear to a Quagoa with blue fur, much to the latter anger of being sold out so quickly. The Quagoa commander assumes that Shalltear is of the dwarf race, seeing her as the enemy and swears on the pride of his clan he will not talk. The vampire though just smiles and looks at the Quagoa in the eyes, casting [Charm Species]. Instantly the Quagoa becomes compliant and willing to answer any questions, to the confusion of his subordinates. Questions are asked on whether he is really the strongest of the bunch of Quagoa. The Quagoa confirms that he is the leader of the unit, which was suppose to be a secret and Shalltear still bewitching him assures his secret is safe with her as they are "friends". When noticing Ainz, the Quagoa asks if he is an undead and her minion. The thought of Ainz being viewed as a servant annoys Shalltear, but Ainz confirms she is his mistress to the demi-human to Shalltear's surprise. This leads to praise from her Quagoa "friend."
The interrogation resumes, Shalltear asking what the Quagoa were doing in the dwarven city. The Quagoa commander states that his unit were sent as a vanguard to conquer the city. That if any dwarves fled to the city the Quagoa commander's unit were to eliminate them. Gondo who has been listening to the Quagoa, demands from the demi-human on what he means. However the Quagoa refuses to answer the dwarf stating all he needed to do was perish. Shalltear then asks the question on why an invasion force was sent. The Quagoa then elaborates that north of their location is another dwarven city, which will soon be destroyed by an army of Quagoa.
Until now the Quagoa had been repelled by the garrison at the suspension bridge in front of the Great Rift. But a route was discovered that bypassed the Great Rift and to the rear of the garrison. The news troubles Gondo, which is not lost to Ainz, seeing the dwarf's fist shake. Momonga asks if what the Quagoa says is true, that if the suspension bridge is taken will the city fall? The miner does not know, but does know that the Quagoa were fought off at the bridge that leads to the Great Rift. If the garrison has been taken, it'll be a straight path to the city and impossible to stop the demi-humans advance.
Shalltear asks if the Quagoa that were captured are the only unit in the area, which the commander confirms as the other units were with the main force. That said, Ainz passes an order for the delegation to ne prepared to leave. This is directed to Zenberu and Gondo who have been listening to the interrogation. After they move away. Ainz orders Shalltear to send the Quagoa prisoners to the Great Tomb of Nazarick, where they will be locked up and their fates of whether to kill them or not decided later. Before adding to Shalltear that her information gathering was excellent, bringing a smile to the woman, causing her to grovel before him. Not sure of this reaction, Ainz tells Shalltear to continue to loyally serve him. He orders her to stand while he goes to discuss the situation with Gondo, believing now he can use it to earn gratitude from the dwarves. Shalltear obeys, just happy that she can be allowed to walk alongside the Supreme Being.
The Sorcerer King then asks Gondo what he will do. Though dwarf is not sure as whatever he does it will not matter as the information he learned from the Quagoa needs to be taken to is a long way off as it will take six days to reach the dwarven city that the Quagoa are targeting. Ainz the invites Gondo to accompany him to his country. Gondo declines as he wants to evacuate the Runesmiths. In that sense Ainz asks if the dwarves would be grateful if he moved to protect the Dwarf Kingdom. Gondo thinking on this believes so, if the Sorcerer Kingdom were to protect the Dwarf Kingdom from the Quagoa threat he believes that negotiations will go well. In that case it's perfect timing to Ainz.
In response Gondo then offers himself as a guide for Ainz's delegation. Ainz the states they should hurry as he doesn't want to lose a single runesmith. With Gondo now as their guide, Ainz announces that they are to depart immediately.
