This is the ninth chapter of Overlord New World.

Summary[]

Go Gin falls to the ground, defeated leaving Ainz Ooal Gown the victor of the duel. The entire audience in the Grand Arena is silent at the outcome. With a loudspeaker, Ainz calls out to the audience, introducing himself as the Sorcerer King and his intent to have his nation establish an adventurer training institution for the adventurers. One that will raise and protect adventurers, that he intends to send out to travel the various places of the world. And laments that many adventurers normally must survive on their own merit and often meet tragedy.

Hence he intends to incorporate the Adventurer's Guild into his nation. And while there may be fear that being a state run institution will take away adventurers' freedom, Ainz admits that there is a possibility. Ainz though has proven his strength is more than adequate. And that he has no intention of making them tools of war.

The Sorcerer Kingdom instead desires those who seek adventure. He invites all those who wish to explore the unknown and who have the dream of becoming adventurers. He pledges to aid them to become full-fledged adventurers with power they cannot even imagine.

To demonstrate, he uses Go Gin's corpse, citing that the Martial Lord though dead, it is still within his power to revive. Such resurrection magic is normally under the purview of high-ranking priests, but as he is about to demonstrate he is able to do so. Through the use of the Prototype Staff he casts magic and resurrects the War Troll. Ainz uses this to prove that he can transcend death and bring those who fall back alive. Ainz once again calls those who wish to become true adventurers to his nation, before casting [Fly] to levitate before Emperor Jircniv's VIP Box to offer his apologies for the situation.

He notices that Jircniv's complexion has returned. The emperor nervously thanks his fellow sovereign as he congratulates him on his victory. Ainz says that it was a good bout, unaware of Jircniv's sweating face, thinking the emperor was just tired from cheering for Go Gin under the assumption he is a big fan of the Martial Lord. It still galls Ainz that Jircniv didn't cheer for him.

Even so Ainz decides that he needs to get away and pick up Ainzach, as they did illegally enter the country and doesn't want to complicate things. Before Ainz leaves, Jircniv stops him as he has a proposal, he wishes to have the Baharuth Empire become a vassal state to the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The proposal shocks Ainz, and confounds how things ended this way. He intended to create a friendship between kings. To separate himself from this talk, Ainz claims to speak such matters verbally is dangerous and that it must be written down, before Ainz can answer this proposal. But this suggestion only makes Jircniv to do just that. Ainz then just agrees with this, and Jircniv agrees to present his with the written proposal for vassalization. Ainz then hurriedly flies away, panicking calling out to Demiurge and Albedo on what he should have said.

Nimble shouts to his liege on what just happened, only for the emperor to be quiet. Seeing that his subordinate is wondering on why he requested the Empire to made into a vassal state, Jircniv tiredly asks on what could he do? Thanks to Ainz's presence, negotiations with the Theocracy have gone into a tailspin and broken down. The Temples don't think well of him either. At this point Jircniv doesn't even know how long it would take to renegotiate with these factions. If he were the Theocracy, Jircniv doubts that they would even trust him and just cut him off.

Without the Theocracy, the Empire would be fighting alone against Ainz, who he suspects saw through the plan for an alliance. That his presence at the arena was no coincidence, but merely a way to toy with struggling prey, and then destroy them in one hit while they lower their guard. So no all Jircniv can do is admit defeat. At this point the emperor tells his Imperial Knights that he doesn't know what to do anymore, despairing that Ainz is more like a demon than an undead who seems to know exactly how to break someone's will.

And to be clear, Jircniv tells his knights that there is no hope in winning, as even the more powerful man in the Empire, the Martial Lord couldn't even put a scratch on Ainz Ooal Gown. This makes Jircniv wonder aloud if Ainz is immortal. Still he orders his knights to investigate e weapon of the Martial Lord to find out why Ainz was harmed when he was hit, even to inquire magic casters and adventurers.

One thing that is apparent, is that Ainz's statement will turn the country's Adventurer's Guild against him, so the emperor will expect their cooperation. Nimble though asks if maybe it would have been better to talk about the vassalage after the investigation. That being said it was fortunate to the knight that Ainz turned down the offer. To the contrary the emperor says its the other way around.

The emperor asks his subordinate on why would Ainz decline on the vassalage of the Empire. If Ainz was incompetent or lacking confidence the emperor would agree that he was unsure how to handle the situation. But Jircniv believes for a fact that Ainz is a being with an intellect who might have be able to instantly calculate what would happen next after the vassalage. So the reason why he did not accept might have been something that did not suit his aims.

Baziwood asks his liege to elaborate, but Jircniv honestly does not know. However he instantly thinks about Ainz's words on the Adventurer's Guild, and thinks that perhaps Ainz declined was due to his plans for the aforementioned organization. Baziwood has some thoughts on the declaration by the Sorcerer King. He says that they should be wary as if the Empire is not careful, it will lose talented people and adventurers. And while it was mentioned that freedom might be restricted, being back by the powerful Sorcerer King is far too attractive.

More adventurers die than succeed in life, but with the Sorcerer King's support there is hope to become stronger. Baziwood is sure that there are many people who feel this way and lack self-confidence. The news of an outflow of human talent causes Jircniv to fall into despair. Though its confuses Jircniv now as to why Ainz did not accept his offer of vassalization as it would be more convenient for the Empire to become a vassal state, thus allowing the Sorcerer King to absorb the Adventurer's Guild directly. This only drives the emperor into thinking Ainz is such a genius he cannot read his moves, driving the point the undead's wisdom surpasses his own.

Baziwood though supposes maybe Ainz is not thinking of any plan at all, but this is hatefully dismissed by Jircniv. Nimble asks the emperor on what they should do, which Jircniv responds that he will gather his scribes and tell them that the Empire willingly chooses to submit to become a vassal state of the Sorcerer Kingdom. The other neighboring nations will be informed of this, and spread the news so far, that the Sorcerer Kingdom will have no choice but to acknowledge it.

Jircnov tells his knights to not look so gloomy to the future as there are many forms of vassalization. In that if they are allowed to govern themselves then they can continue living as usual. The positive is that the Empire would be protected by the overwhelming military power of the Sorcerer Kingdom and be safer. Jircniv understand he has a lot of work cut out for him, such as resolving the internal dissatisfaction, especially the priests.

Still Jircniv laments on his situation, as having inherited his role of emperor from his father, and worked steadily to make the Empire stronger, taking care to have no missteps, until that monster Ainz Ooal Gown appeared and now everything has gone crazy. So far Jircniv feels the most unfortunate man in the world is he. Soon news appears that Silver Thread Bird had moved from the Empire to the City-State Alliance. The news demoralizes the emperor further needless to say.

Albedo simply says that they cannot predict Ainz's thoughts s she presents a set of papers that came the Empire, containing an offer of vassalage. This shocks Demiurge as he predicted that the Empire would have only offered to be a vassal after the Re-Estize Kingdom was destroyed. When he learns from Albedo that this is a result of Ainz's visit to the Empire, Demiurge reacts that this is to be expected.

Albedo then tells Demiurge that Ainz has been expecting contact from the 7th Floor Guardian for sometime, indicating that he was not happy with the initial plan to make the Empire into a vassal state. And asks if there was really no way for the Empire to become a vassal faster than the Kingdom? The male demon admits that there was a way, but it would have required Ainz's direct action, taking at least a month and a violent upheaval.

He inquires how many days did it take Ainz to achieve the vassalization. While Albedo no sure of the details, it took three days. The short amount of time leaves Demiurge stunned, even more so when he hears that there were no casualties. The demon praises his master for his brilliance, admitting that he could never match him.

In the meantime Albedo informs Demiurge that Ainz ordered them to handle the task of handing the Empire's vassalization. As for why, Albedo explains that since Ainz had accelerated the plan that Demiurge devised, without saying a word, his heart is aching. This puzzles Demiurge leading Albedo to elaborate that Ainz trusts Demiurge

Not following Demiurge's plan is equivalent to doubting him, which Ainz had not intention of doing, hence why he was patiently waiting for him to contact him. But AInz supposed Demiurge was being too concerned for him. This his independent action was meant to "not worry about him." Demiurge hearing this is truly touched. Furthermore Albedo states that they must act in a way that repays Ainz's mercy which Demiurge wholeheartedly agrees. Thus he plans to work with Albedo to finish the vassalage plan for the Kingdom for Ainz to see before he returns.

Given that Ainz has gone in person, Albedo predicts that there may be many schemes in store. So he will surely be busy once he returns from the Dwarf Kingdom.
