This is the sixth chapter of Overlord New World.

Summary[]

The scene continues on from the last chapter, Ainz Ooal Gown greeting a visibly shocked Jircniv, commenting it has been awhile. The emperor weakly says his own greeting to the Sorcerer King, before adding that he never think he would meet the other ruler in a place like the Grand Arena. The same is said by Ainz, finding that coincidences are scary.

The emperor though thinks that the talk about coincidences is just a lie, believing Ainz's appearance at a crucial secret meeting with representatives of the Slane Theocracy is all part of the undead's scheme. A form of putting pressure on him to let him know that he can block the alliance he was trying to create with the Theocracy. By this action is only short of the work of a genius, making Jircniv wonder how much the Sorcerer King knows about his plans.

The Sorcerer King then turns his gaze upon the cloaked members in the VIP Box. Hearing his question, Jircniv comes to the conclusion that it's over. He thinks about his options, should he lie to protect the representatives or should he side with the Sorcerer King and sell them out?

His pale face is noticed by Ainz who asks if he is alright. The undead's concern is interpreted as a form of mockery to Jircniv. In the face of the terrifying undead, Jircniv lies stating that he is fine. Ainz still directs his attention at the robed figures, introducing himself as the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The pair of emissaries glare at him, until finally one of them speaks, formally bowing before claiming that they have urgent business to excuse themselves from introducing themselves. And suggests he speak to Jircniv about them later. Ainz finds this unfortunate, but hopes that they may meet somewhere again, before bidding his goodbyes and returning to his match, flying away.

To Jircniv's dismay the Theocracy delegation leaves in a hurry. The ones remaining in the VIP Box, are the Head Priest of the Fire Temple and the Head Priest of the Wind Temple. The Head Priest of Fire accuses the emperor of setting them up. Jircniv denies this. Though it matters little as the priest states that Ainz made him look like a fool and god what he wanted from Jircinv, before demanding to know how much does the undead know about this supposed secret meeting. Even the Head Priest of the Fire Temple admonishes Jircniv for selling out the the unthinkable just to protect the nation.

Jircniv pleads for them to believe him, as he never leaked out any information. But still they do not believe him and prepare to depart, stating they will not be seeing them again. The emperor those refuses them to leave, having his Imperial Knights Nimble and Baziwood raise heir weapons on the priests. Not until he hears their opinions on the Sorcerer King. While under duress, the Head Priest of the Wind Temple gives Jircniv his assertions, the Sorcerer King is an evil undead and is not permissible to be recognized as a king. However admits that the undead cannot be defeated in battle, so they must find a way to destroy him. The Head Priest of Fire tells Jircniv to sell this information to the Sorcerer King if he wants, as both he and his colleague see that the emperor is now under the influence of the Sorcerer King's powerful magic.

Jircniv meanwhile panics as he knows he cannot afford to be hostile towards the Temple since the people are dependent on the organization for both their physical and mental health, and is in charge of medical care. If he tries to purge the Temple, the Empire will collapse from within. Thus he wracks his brain on how to deal with the situation, on what kind of benefits he can offer the Temple to get them to cooperate with him.

Even with the ability to move the people's feelings, stimulate their desires and hearts, Jircniv cannot think of anything. He however has one thing to say to the angry priests, that Ainz Ooal Gown's wisdom exceeds his own and the whole thing is going according to his plan. Given the circumstances, Jircniv can understand why the priests would not believe him, but makes it clear that he did not sell out anyone. So he gives them a word of warning: the Sorcerer King's rule is merciful as the people of E-Rantel live i peace.

The Head Priest of the Wind Temple though snorts on how long that will last. Regardless Jircniv states that he is safe for now. But warns that if they go into battle without a chance of winning, then the Empire will be on the fast track to destruction so he asks them to refrain from taking any hasty action. The Head Priests consider his words, with the Head Priest of the Wind Temple acknowledging that perhaps he was a bit emotion in his criticism of Jircniv. The emperor is certainly right, if the rumors of the undead are true, then he can't rule out the possibility that all that is happening is part of his scheme. The Head Priest of the Fire Temple then tells the emperor that they will meet again to further discuss this.

This brightens Jircniv which he agrees, though asks them to observe Ainz fight in the arena. And if they see a way to defeat him to inform him. Both parties then respectfully bow before the priests depart. From this Jircniv contemplates that while he cannot match the Sorcerer King in terms of wits, then the human heart was the only trump card left to play. Jircniv then watches from his balcony as the Martial Lord steps out into the arena, and loudly shouts with all his might good luck to him.

A few days ago, Ainz Ooal Gown and Pluton Ainzach had traveled to the imperial capital. From his carriage window, Ainz observes the liveliness of Arwintar, a stark contrast to E-Rantel. Ainzach shows concern to the Sorcerer King, as they came into the capital without going through the usual checkpoint, as this is an illegal entry into a neighboring nation. Ainz having cast [Gate] to transport their carriage and horses into the Baharuth Empire, waves off the concern, despite it being a national issue, as it is already too late to undo his mistake.

Ainz tells the guildmaster of the Adventurer's Guild that it will be alright considering that he and Emperor Jircniv are good "friends" and so he will forgive this blunder. There is a reason why Ainz chose to come secretly to the Empire, which he keeps to himself. If a king of an allied nation were to come to another nation, there will be no doubt a grand welcome. If said ceremony were held, then it would reveal to all that the Sorcerer King would not know any etiquette of the nobility, something the undead wishes people to not know. So the only alternative to avoid such a hassle is by smuggling himself into the imperial capital.

What Ainz plans to do next, he considers to be one of the most challenging part of a sales job: door to door sales. Though his focus will be on scouting adventurers from the Empire and recruiting them to the Sorcerer Kingdom. The Adventurer's Guild in Ainz's kingdom is to be nationalized. The first step is to increase his ranks, which he plans to do so with the aid of Ainzach to serve as a mediator. Since the guildmaster is a veteran and well familiar with the hardships of adventurers, Ainz hopes that he will be able to converse with the other adventurers. On this it is just one of the tricks in sales, by increasing common ground with business partners and creating a sense of familiarity.

Although in his mental musing, Ainz had forgotten to inform Ainzach of their arrival in Arwintar, so the human is not fully aware of the Sorcerer King's plan. When asked about what his plan is, he tells the human that it is to invite adventurers into their nation. Upon hearing this Ainzach is stunned, have to hear the confirmation again before giving out a response. While the guildmaster was impressed by Ainz's thoughts on adventurers and would like to cooperate as much as possible, he states that it will be difficult to convince other adventurers, as not all would want to abandon and throw everything away to join Ainz's new plan.

Rather react in anger at the criticism, Ainz is washed with relief, as he was seeking a fresh opinion on his idea, which he usually lack from the Floor Guardians like Albedo and Demiurge, who always take his words as absolutely correct. To Ainz the prospect of negative feedback is important for polishing his plan for the adventurers.

Ainzach at first thinks he may have misspoke, before Ainz tells him he did not and invites Ainzach to speak his mind, citing that he is not human and so is mostly unfamiliar with human reaction, thus he needs to rely on a human perspective from his collaborators. The guildmaster then takes a moment to review what was previously discussed, in that Ainz wants to treat all new adventurers as members of his new organization he is creating, wants them to explore the unknown, and that there are plans to create a training institute for this purpose. However going to back what he stated on the issues with this plan, poaching current adventurers from the Empire will be difficult, however those that aspire to become adventurer might be different. Although he wonders if it is possible to make such people come to the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The guildmaster states that they can collect and raise the new adventures, but notes that the strong are looked upon with admiration, so perhaps they should show the power of the Sorcerer King to attract newcomers and advertise from there. The idea to Ainz is reasonable as his plan won't gain traction without any attention and also the Adventurer's Guild new purpose would be to promote his nation. Ainz asks the human if he should promote himself as an adventurer then?

Ainzach has a different idea in mind. Since they are in the imperial capital, there is a place where Ainz can display his power via the Grand Arena. This intrigues the Overlord, and bids Ainzach to tell him more, leading to the guildmaster to talk about the Empire's strongest gladiator: Go Gin and the 8th Generation Martial Lord, said to be the strongest in history.

A fight between him and Ainz in the arena can be arranged through the promoter at the Grand Arena, which Ainzach can introduce. Although the guildmaster only met the promoter a few times, he confesses to his liege that he does not like the man. Their carriage then goes to an opulent district and stop at a luxurious mansion. Ainzach heads inside, whilst Ainz waits in the carriage. He later returns apologizing for the wait, informing the Sorcerer King that today is not a convenient day to meet, so the promoter would like to schedule a meeting tomorrow. Though Ainzach thinks that they could use Ainz's name to convey their message, however Ainz to the human's surprise declines, accepting to wait until the next day for the meeting. Not only that Ainz is feels grateful for the free time.

Ainz notices Ainzach's surprised look, and asks if there is anything wrong. The guildmaster only expresses that Ainz is generous, as normally aristocrats look down on merchants in this situation. Ainz is taken aback that Ainzach would think he would suggest forcing a meeting with the promoter, though takes a more conciliatory tone, admitting that his etiquette might be misaligned, considering he is new at occupying a position over humans. So he asks for Ainzach's suggestion, on whether to force the meeting. Ainzach is genuinely surprised by this magnanimity, and states to his liege he prefers Ainz's idea to wait to be better, though tells Ainz that in human society nobles exercise force normally to get what they want.

In response the undead comments humans society is complicated, which Ainzach admits that there are many troubling aspects to it. Ainz then asks if he told the promoter that he will be coming tomorrow, but Ainzach states that he first wanted to hear Ainz's thoughts before arranging anything, so he leaves the carriage again to make the appointment.

All while this is happening, Ainz considers rewarding the guildmaster for his service. When he returns, an appointment has been set up for tomorrow at ten 'clock. His task done, Ainz uses [Greater Teleportation] to send Ainzach back to E-Rantel.

Now alone in the carriage, Ainz feels a bit depressed as he will have a different appointment to keep. The undead then casts [Message] to get in contact with his next appointment, who eagerly responds to him. Ainz passes information to his associate, stating that he was born in Belmous Village, where he first came in contact with magic through a magic caster, to confirm his identity. The other person on the other end them welcomes him as his master, revealing himself to be Fluder Paradyne.
