This is the fifth chapter of the Overlord New World.
Summary[]
Two weeks later, Jircniv is riding a carriage with Nimble and Baziwood, pulled by Sleipnirs, heading to the Grand Arena. While in the carriage, Jircniv says to himself that he wished he had all Four Imperial Knights with him. But he distrusts Leinas and Fluder Paradyne has betrayed the Empire, and sided with the Sorcerer Kingdom. So internal controls must be cautious.
However the emperor wonders if any kind of preparation could be effective against "him." Baziwood reports to the emperor that they will soon be meeting with Sliver Thread Bird, an adamantite adventurer team and hailed among humanity's strongest. Even so Nimble reminds his liege to be careful. Jircniv knows but takes some comfort that he has some protection from an adamantite group, remembering that Momon an adventurer of similar rank stood against the Sorcerer King. However if they were not of the same make, he would be worried. He laments on what else could he do, making a depressing face.
His retainers concerned for him ask him not to show such a face, stating that while they are weak they will do their best to protect him, and wishing to see his regain his former confident self. The emperor is thankful for their words, though he asks forgiveness if he could complain a little. The two knight graciously allow him to dos so, which causes the emperor to release a tirade of why a monster like Ainz had to appear next to the Empire, asking what he did to deserve such misfortune and to lose his trump card Fluder Paradyne. He desperately begs for a way to reverse the situation Alas he speak aloud how he has no one to blame but himself as he asked Ainz to use his magic on the battlefield, but in his defense he only did so to measure the undead's power and create a countermeasure. Because of this he is seen by his own subjects to be at fault for the massacre at the Katze Plains.
When he is finished, Jirciv recomposes himself back to his noble appearance, apologizing to his men for the unsightly behavior blaming it on stress. Having calmed down, Jircniv tell his men there has to be a workaround for this crisis as he does not let the Empire be Ainz's toy. His hopes are directed to the Slane Theocracy, a nation which has a history far older than the Empire. There he believes that salvation lies there hence he plans to open talks to create a dialogue with the other nation.
The trio disembark after reaching in front of the Grand Area, where they finally meet Silver Thread Bird. They are courteous greeted by Freivalds using flowering speech, which annoys his teammate Keila no Södersten. The others begin to introduce themselves which includes, Fan Long, Unkei and Powapon. The adventurers swear to protect his majesty for the ensuing event at the arena. Just as Jircniv is about to lead the procession, Keila halts him advising him against going first. The emperor heeds the assassin's advice allowing the adventurers to take point whilst his knight guard his rear as they escort him to the VIP room.
Upon reaching the VIP room, the adventurers begin checking the security of the room, but so far have not discovered any attempts at eavesdropping. Both Keila and Unkei declare the room to be safe. Jircniv thanks the adventurers and asks that a very important meeting will occur and so asks them to wait outside for the time being. Freivalds and the rest of Silver Thread Bird are hesitant to leave their charge alone, but the emperor assures that his two knights will be enough to buy time for them to arrive in case there is trouble.
Freivalds accepts this though asks about the people who will be meeting with the emperor. The ones who will be arriving are the Head Priest of the Fire Temple and Head Priest of the Wind Temple, along with four other priests. For safety's sake Freivalds asks of they can break the lock, which Jircniv permits.
Fan Long then prepares to bash the door, but is restrained by Freivalds to limit the damage to only the lock which he complies. The adventurers take guard outside, leaving the knights and emperor thoroughly impressed at their cohesion. Nimble then prepares a drink for Jircniv as he watches the arena battle between an adventurer and a magical beast from his window with sullen eyes.
Jircniv muses how peaceful the scene of the crowd in the Grand Arena. If he didn't know there was a monster just lurking, and the state of the Empire, he wouldn't be able to enjoy the sight so innocently. Nimble gets impatient, when Freivalds opens the door informing the Imperial party that the High Priests have arrived, but there are also some other shady robed people with them. The bard first thinks they are similar to the Temple's punishment squads, but senses they are not. Keila is curious on their identities. The emperor tells the adventurers to all the group through as he has been expecting them.
One of the robe figures thanks the emperor for inviting them. The emperor directs them into the VIP Box, so they can enjoy the match of the Martial Lord. While his guests take their seats, one of the passes Jircniv a note, with a question of why the emperor asked the Sorcerer King to use "that spell"? Just as the emperor is writing a response to explain his unfortunate involvement in the incident, the arena orator announces Jircniv's presence in his VIP Box to applause of the crowd which the emperor half-heartedly responds.

An announcement informs that the Go Gin will soon appear. One of the envoys in the VIP asks who the Martial Lord will fight, although Jircniv confesses he does not know as the identity of the opponent is being secret. Baziwood adds that Go Gin is so strong that there haven't been any challengers recently, but thinks maybe an adamantite adventurer could stand a chance. The envoys ask if the Martial Lord is hailed as the strongest being in the Empire, then perhaps he could he asked to deal with the current issue.
This shocks the emperor as he heard that the Slane Theocracy only values humans...not demi-humans. However the envoy states that this is just his personal opinion and doesn't reflect the his nation's opinion.
An announcement comes on calling out that the challenger for today's event is none other than the King of the Sorcerer Kingdom Ainz Ooal Gown. The news stuns Jircniv, and his guests then call this to be a trap arrange by the emperor. But Jircniv pleads that he had no idea. Though the envoys point out that the venue was chosen by him. Jircniv insists he played no part in this citing he would not be panicking this much. While the envoys agree that he is not acting they demand proof that Jircniv was not planning to drag them down in this political mess. So one demands if the emperor did sell them out. However Jircniv knows no matter what the says they will never believe him.
He thinks the only way the Sorcerer King would be at the Grand Arena was due to an information leak. And considers that this was planned out from the start by Ainz. Jircniv is about to tell the Slane Theocracy envoys to evacuate, when Ainz to his horror appears floating just outside the balcony and greets him.
