This is the seventy-second chapter of the Overlord Manga.
Summary[]
The chapter starts out explaining in YGGDRASIL, players could give items customized names, though there were a few exceptions. Such exceptions included dropped items like the Horn of the Goblin General. The horn is able to summon nineteen goblins, but the summons were regarded as useless by players and thus the item was seen as garbage. It has been questioned on why such an item has a grandiose name and so far the question has remained unanswered until now.
At the gates of Carne Village a fierce battle is being waged between the soldiers of the Kingdom and the residents of the village. Jugem fighting on the battlefield who understands that the villagers, goblins and ogres are outnumbered. Two soldiers charge at him, which Jugem strikes down using "Goblin Blow". However he is cut from behind by a third soldier. Hurt but alive, Jugem turns around and attacks the human.
More human soldiers appear but are stunned at the goblin's strength. A few order the others to finish off the villagers whilst they deal with Jugem. The goblin hearing what they intend to do refuses to allow them to pass. Jugem aims to get to the enemy camp, though he knows that victory is slim but hopes to buy some time for Enriand the others to escape.
At that time, Enri blows on her last remaining Horn of the Goblin General. It releases a sound that is reverberated across the battlefield. Jugem is confused on what just happen and suddenly spots something coming from behind the village. There is a beating by goblin drummers followed by scene of an army of goblins much to the shock of both sides.
Jugem calls all the surviving defenders of Carne Village that the army is their reinforcements and to run towards them for safety. Once behind the lines of goblin soldiers, Jugem is greeted by the Goblin Strategist who commands the army. The strategist assures Jugem that they are safe and as his Goblin Medical Corps attend to the survivors. Jugem ignoring his own injuries asks the strategist if Enri is alright and is relieved to hear that she is nearby in a tent. That being enough Jugem decides to leave the battlefield and to formally allow his junior to take the stage to repulse the Kingdom's soldiers.
The strategist is all eager to prove himself and his fellows, so he orders the heavy infantry to advance. Back at the prince's camp, Prince Barbro is incandescent that victory was just snatched away. His aide pleads the prince to order a retreat but Barbro denies the request. The aide argues that they do not stand a chance as the opposing army of goblins is equipped with better equipment and a stronger formation. The prince gives his own counterargument stating that they cannot retreat as it would be too dangerous to ignore the demi-human army as it could move towards the Katze Plains or even E-Rantel. While the argument is sound, the prince hesitates to retreat as doing so would stain his honor and make him a laughingstock among the nobles.
Barbro's conscripts are given the order to charge at the armored goblins who announce themselves as the Goblin Heavy Infantry Corps. They form up into a shield wall that withstands the charge, stopping the conscripts in their tracks. The prince's cavalry attempt to flank the armored goblins but they are intercepted by the Goblin Beast Rider Corps and Goblin Paladin-Knight Squad. Barbro's forces begin to take casualties as the more corps make their debut such as the Goblin Longbowman Corps, Goblin Magic Support Corps and Goblin Mage who send volleys of arrows and spells unto the the army.
Prince Barbro is exasperated at the sight of his own forces begin decimated and his aide pleads again to the royal to order a retreat before the enemy gets closer. The prince finally relents, though has the aide command the baron to retreat first so as to saddle the lesser noble with the reputation of being the first to flee from the battlefield.
Before the aide can give the order, he is beheaded by a group of new goblins from the Goblin Assassin Squad. The proximity of the goblin assassins throw the army into a panic and even the prince is overwhelmed, forcing himself to retreat with the remains of his army.
The retreat of the human army is calmly viewed by Lupusregina Beta. When night falls the prince's remaining soldiers have collapsed in exhaustion from the flight. Barbro walking alone and is seething over his defeat, trying to figure out where those goblins may have come from. Though he feels so humiliated by the withdrawal and lamented that he can't join the battle at Katze Plains.
The prince's thoughts are interrupted when Luspusregina appears wanting to "play". Her presence unnerves the crown prince who demands to know who she is. The maid explains that she is one of the maids that serves Ainz Ooal Gown. The maid displays her own surprise at how events in Carne Village played out and sardonically sympathizes with the prince. Annoyed at her disrespect of him, the prince presses again why she is here and she bluntly states that she is her to massacre everyone.
The prince confused at her words tries to use his authority over her as the first prince, but Lupusregina merely states that he is still just a mere human and worthless. Barbro thinks that everyone except him will be slaughtered and is fine with such an outcome. However Lupusregina makes it clear that everyone including him needs to die. This causes alarms the prince who tries to hostage himself to Ainz claiming to be a valuable and useful.
Lupusregina seeing that the prince is being stupid, tells him that he is useless to Ainz's plans thus there will be no special exceptions. Barbro seeing she speaks true, breaks down in fear which pleases the Pleiades maid. In consideration to those that she will massacre Lupusregina declares she specifically selected an opponent that the prince and his men will enjoy. She reveals a troop of several bloodthirsty Redcaps.
Out of desperation Barbro calls his soldiers to pick up their arms and defend him. The soldiers awakening to see the goblins instead choose to flee and ignore their liege's orders. This causes Lupusregina to have a laugh as there is nowhere to run or hide in the open field before giving the order for the goblins to pursue. The redcaps give chase and begin slaughtering the human soldiers. The maid seeing that the number of prey is rapidly decreasing is content to have some fun with the prince as she ominously begins approaching the horrified prince.
