Summary[]

A herald of the armed force outside the gates of Carne Village announces Crown Prince Barbro Andrean Ield Ryle Vaiself's arrival and demands entry. Nfirea Bareare at the watchtower, seeing the flag of the royal family then confirms to all the villagers and goblins of the identity of the prince, leaving many shocked. The herald demands once again for the gates to be open, however he refuses to answer why the King's army have come to Carne Village. The village being being under the direct authority of the King is expected to give obedience.

Jugem seeing that the goblins and ogres present will cause an issue informs Enri that they will sneak to a hideout and asks for her to buy some time for them to hide. Enri delays the opening of the gate, using an excuse that there are cow droppings on the ground and unfit for the prince to tread on. So when the soldiers state that they instead will enter the village, Enri becomes suspicious of the insistence of the force's need to investigate the village. Thoughts form in her mind that they may not be who they say they are and even a force from another nation that plan to occupy the village.

Outside the Crown Prince is growing visibly annoyed by the delay. The herald then questions Enri about whether a magic caster named Ainz Ooal Gown had come to the village. He informs them that individual has become hostile. Hence he explains that the army is here to conduct a survey on Ainz. Hearing this from the soldier, some of the villagers become worried as being associated with the magic caster, they fear of what will happen if they do not obey the command of the army. A few though are uncomfortable about doing so as it would be betraying Ainz. Enri calms their worries, reminding them that the soldiers are only hear for a survey. Still it is a hard decision to swallow.

Barbro still waiting for the gates to open, has reached the limit of his patience. Furious that the villagers refuse to obey his command and making a fool of him, he now considers it to be an act of treason. His subordinate tries to calm the prince, reminding him that the war with the Empire is coming soon. If they take an aggressive stance against this village then it will severely lower the morale of the troops. Not only that the defense of the village makes an attack difficult. He pleads the prince to continue to request entry, but the prince shocks his men when he gives the order to launch fire arrows at the village. The order is disturbing but against an impatient prince they can only obey as prince feels he has wasted enough time and is done fooling around.

In the village, Jugem reports back to Enri to tell her that the goblins and ogres have hidden themselves away. At the same time, Baron Cheneko calls out to the villagers declaring that since they did not immediately open the gate when ordered, their loyalty as subjects of the Kingdom is being called into question. For that they will take several members of the village to the battlefield to use as blackmail against Ainz Ooal Gown. Upon hearing that they will will be used as bargaining chips against Ainz draws angers from the villagers as they feel more gratitude towards the magic caster than the Kingdom that failed to save them in the past. In any case they refuse to comply and there is talk about hiding in the forest. Their talk is cut short when soldiers of the army shoot several fire arrows at a watchtower.

The attack serves as an immediate catalyst that causes the villagers to turn against the Kingdom. Now emboldened the villagers give a call to arms against the prince and his army. Initially Enri tries to calm them down but Jugem takes her to the side and convinces her that she had to act as leader and make a decision now. Finally with some encouragement from Nfirea Enri then takes charge and has everyone have a consensus what they want to do. Everyone then unanimously votes to fight.

Jugem tells them that their chances of victory are slim given what they are up against. However they can take the advantage by taking the first hit by striking first. A plan is formed to make all the enemies consolidate their troops at the gate. All able members of the village will attack and buy all the children sometime to escape to the woods. Jugem promises that the Goblin Troop will lead the attack though asks Enri and Nfirea to lead the wives and children out the back of the village.

Everyone is resolved to fight and have no regrets, giving Enri their blessing to escape with the children. Everyone's sacrifice causes Enri to break in tears. Nfirea though comforts her stating that their struggle will be to live on. As advice Jugem tells Enri that she should keep the horn she used to summon them handy and to use it after the battle and summon more goblins. Strengthen by their support, Enri then swears to the assembled villagers to protect their loved ones.

Outside Baron Cheneko notices that the gate is finally opening. Prince Barbro feels his decision to coerce the villagers with fire arrows was correct. Though he still plans on hanging a few of members of the village to serve as an example for going against the royal family.

A troop of soldiers have just begun to march into the village, when one of them are bashed right back out. To their amazement they see a sight of four club wielding ogres. The appearance of the demi-humans throws the army into a panic as they former begins to attack. This confuses the prince as he and his aides cannot fathom why ogres would be in a border village as nothing previously was reported before by the tax collector that investigated the area days before.

The ogres having killed some members of the army and driven the rest away for the time being. then retreat back behind the gate of the village. Seeing the ogres able to strategize cause some concern for Barbro's men as they fear someone like an Ogre Sorcerer is manipulating them.

Barbro is more focused on a tarnished flag of the Kingdom left on the ground. He comes to the conclusion that the villagers are to blame and actually directed the ogres to launch a counterattack. Though his aide believes that it is still too early to make assumptions as the villagers could be being held hostage. Barbro does not care for his aide's opinion and is insistent that the villagers are rebelling and orders an attack on the village feeling it is within his right to punish the peasants. He orders that a contingent of troops go check the back of the village and for the rest to begin making battering rams to break down the gate. But at the insistence of the aide agrees to capture most of the villagers, though orders to kill any that try to escape.

Jugem rallies the Vigilance Committee to ignore the flames at the watchtower as they ready their bows and arrows. Soon the gate is being assaulted by the blows of battering rams. The goblin leader then has his group fire a volley at the attackers, hitting a few, though the volley is retaliated by several arrows from the other side of the gate. The goblin then pulls everyone away from the gate content that they are attracting the enemy. Since it is only a matter of time before the gate is breached and knowing that they will not survive, Jugem rallies the humans, goblins and ogres for their last stand.

In the back Brita and the Gigu tribe members lead the human women and children out the back and head to the woods. Everyone reaches the boundaries of the forest, save for Enri and Nfirea who make sure everyone is safe. When the couple run to the forest's edge they are spotted by the troop of riders from the army. Nfirea then plans to hold them off to buy Enri some time, as he believes that they can't rely on Lupusregina Beta to appear and save them like last time.

Enri unwilling to leave Nfirea behind takes out the Horn of the Goblin General and blows it. After the horn is blow, Nfirea is left stunned looking at something directly behind the girl who then turns around to see what it is.
