This is the sixty-seventh chapter of the Overlord Manga.
Summary[]
One of Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix's retainers in his court asks for the reason for halting the invasion of the Kingdom this year. The emperor states that it is due to the appearance of the demon calling himself Jaldabaoth who still needs to be investigated by the Empire. Jircnvi asks Fluder Paradyne if he has found anything on the demon. When he does not get a response from the old man the first time, the emperor prompts Fluder again, snapping him out of his thoughts. Fluder apologizes for his lack of attention. Jircniv does not mind as he figures the work must be tiring for the old man given his age and asks his mentor not to push himself.
Fluder answers that so far he has not found any information on Jaldabaoth. A Royal Guard asks if the magic caster can find out through magic only for the Imperial Wizard to tell the guard that it is not simple as there are countermeasures to prevent magical investigation. He uses the room that they are in as an example, citing it to be warded against eavesdropping and block detection magic. The guard now understands and Fluder adds that luck would be needed for such measures to fail. High tier magic casters can prepare retaliatory countermeasures to such spells and could even kill if things go wrong. Given this information, the Royal Guards think that though the site in interest holds a magic caster of Ainz Ooal Gown's caliber, he must not be as powerful as Fluder.
In response to that comparison, Fluder snaps at them for their naïve thinking. According to him it was only by luck that he managed to detect Ainz Ooal Gown via his magic by watching the outskirts of Carne Village as it was saved by the mysterious magic caster in the past. It was also how he found Ainz to be going to an unknown ruin. The wizard scolds the guard for this careless type of thought as he will regret it. While the guard apologizes, Jircniv asks Fluder on the fate of the workers they hired to investigate the ruins. The wizard replies that the spies that have been following sent a preliminary report via [Message] and believe that all the workers have been wiped out.
The news is a bit of a surprise to the emperor considering that the workers were pretty good in their field. Although he warns his mentor that information gathered through magic is unreliable and asks when the adventurers they sent to accompany the workers will be back which Fluder reports to be in four days time. Jircniv places the maximum time to get their report in at least five days. This of course means Jircniv cannot take any action until then. The emperor mentioned that 'a certain person' was pretty stupid, as things would have gone more smoothly if he had hired workers from E-Rantel, but now said person has suffered for his incompetence. Fluder agrees in his liege's assessment. The emperor recalls that Momon also came to the Empire at the same time of the operation. Fluder expects that the adventurer will relay the existence of the unknown ruins and the destruction of the workers to the Adventurer's Guild. No doubt once the guild learns of the Empire's interest in the ruins the Kingdom will also conduct its own investigation. It will go according to Jircniv's plan, the Kingdom's adventurers will invade Ainz Ooal Gown's stronghold and the latter will fiercely respond against the Kingdom and guild. As the emperor wonders on the predicted outcome, he declares that he understands Ainz Ooal Gown's strength being able to destroy several worker teams.
He then directs his attention in cleaning up the mess, using the head of a noble. Other than the people in the room, no one will know the true story about the incident. Just as Jircniv declares that all is good, the room of the palace rumbles disturbing all in attendance. The guard reports that a dragon has landed outside the courtyard. Everyone rushes to the windows to see the beast. Confused there are calls for the minister of Foreign Affairs and demands to know if anyone was suppose to arrive on dragon today at the palace. Only Fluder remains unfazed by the development.
Stepping down from the dragon's back is none other than Aura Bella Fiora and Mare Bello Fiore. Aura calls out to anyone that can hear her and introduces herself stating that the emperor had rudely sent people to the Great Tomb of Nazarick where their master Ainz dwells. Due to this Ainz is in a bad mood and warns that if the emperor doesn't admit to his crime then they will destroy the country.
