Summary[]

Seeing an Armor of Reinforcement on the Mirror of Remote Viewing, a shocked Ainz Ooal Gown activates his emotional suppression debuff as the guardians see the Battle of E-Naeurl close. Ainz plays that his secret plan succeeded, and Cocytus buys it with Shalltear following suit in understanding, with Demiurge praising their deductions. Aura asks who the armored one was, with Albedo noting he is from the Adamantite Adventurer team Red Drop as it was reported that his group operated in the northern regions of the Re-Estize Kingdom, thus Mare concluded that this was Ainz's plan to entrap him with the forces he sent out. After Ainz "acknowledges" such was the case, Demiurge proposes they move along and raze E-Naeurl and Ainz catches himself mid answer (remembering his promise to Pestonya from before) to negate such a move and focuses on heading for the capital of Re-Estize instead. Demiurge accepts this while Ainz keeps his promise to allow the humans of the city a chance to flee. Standing with flair, Ainz orders they stop hiding their movements and go erase the Kingdom, all to show the world the price for crossing the Sorcerer Kingdom.

At Ro-Lente Castle, Crown Prince Zanac files paperwork after deposing his father, Ramposa III, and Princess Renner arrives to see him; Zanac permits her in, but orders Climb and Brain Unglaus wait outside the room. As Zanac has confined their father instead of killing him, Renner concludes he had the aid of two ministers, his grimace proving her correct. Unfurling a map, Zanac explains Ramposa III wanted to continue negotiations and shows the lost territories from the war. Noting the undead army's path northward, Renner deduced it was to prevent aid from the Argland Council State, and Zanac asks for Renner's thoughts upon concluding himself that there are traitors in their ranks for the invasion to go unnoticed for so long. Noting that only Marquis Raeven could have conspired so well, with Renner noting his domain stood untouched by the invasion, likely his family hostage by the Sorcerer King. As the Sorcerer Kingdom's forces likely aim for the royal capital, Zanac has no choice but to fight and will appeal to the patriotism of the citizens for bolstering their forces, with Renner noting that he's a real king now. As a royal must be on the front lines to lead the troops, Zanac invites Renner to flee, she agrees to once the time comes.

In the royal capital city as troops enlist, Blue Roses walk to a covert meeting they were invited to. As Lakyus wanted to go alone, they others asked why and Gagaran mentioned that her uncle, Azuth Aindra, would be there too and thought Lakyus would like a private family chat. But Tina and Tia debate the invitation for both adventurer teams, and Evileye believes they should stay together; much to Lakyus's dismay.

At the rendezvous, Lakyus forewarns her team of her uncle's uncomfortable presence, as they see why finding him with bedsheet wrapped courtesans. Despite Lakyus's insistence he be proper, his dismissal leads Evileye to use [Charm Person] to compell both women to leave into the next room. Immediately after, they are met by the arrival of four persons -- Quaiesse Hazeia Quintia, a strongman, a magic caster, and an assassin. As Azuth notes their bad vibes, the magic caster calls him out for his behavior having brought paid women, but the assassin silences her so Quaiesse can talk. As they are there to scout Red Drop and Blue Roses, growing suspicion to their origin leads Azuth to conclude they're the Black Scripture of the Slane Theocracy, even recalling hearing one of them defected. The strongman notes some match his strength and notes Evileye as stronger, Azuth concludes they are being recruited in hopes of fighting off the Sorcerer King, with Quaiesse affirming the deduction. Quaiesse turns to Blue Roses hoping they help them save mankind, but Lakyus refuses and the whole party then sides with the refusal. Respecting their decision, Quaiesse hopes they can help someday bring retribution upon the Sorcerer King. After the meeting, Azuth informs Lakyus that he'll await the Sorcerer King's arrival and recommends they leave, certain Blue Roses will never reach him. Clarifying he'll go in alone and that he most likely won't win, Azuth notes that he'll be able to escape better alone, then goes into the other room to meet the courtesans he left waiting.

In the plain, Crown Prince Zanac leaves the safety of his army to venture to the Sorcerer King's encampment. Once Albedo heralds his approach to Ainz, Zanac formally requests an audience with the undead. While Albedo believes he should be killed forthwith, Cocytus advises that Ainz meet him lest other claim him closed-minded, as Albedo questions who would care before Ainz reminds her that someone could be watching from afar who could spread ill rumors. Riding a Soul Eater, Ainz goes to meet Zanac in returning the gesture, summoning a deliberation table for them and serving water for his guest. Zanac directly asks why Ainz refuses their plea of surrender and is answered that there would be no merit, as the undead king wishes to leave a monument of ruin to send a message for ages to come. But Zanac notes there are other ways to accomplish this, asking why he would be so cruel. Privately recalling that he originally believed his friend from YGGDRASIL would be in the New World, Ainz answers aloud that he only wants happiness for himself and those he cherishes. Zanac asks if it is alright to steal happiness from others, and Ainz affirms so as his kingdom would have done the same to another nation or people if t meant his kin would prosper. As Zanac asks if Ainz had no other way forward after considering all options, Ainz believes there are other ways but he has an opportunity to seize his happiness now, quoting a proverb of a goddess of fortune being bald in the back of her head. Zanac chuckles at such a goddess, apologizing if she is someone Ainz believes in with the undead king clarifying he does not believe in such gods. Once Ainz summarizes his logic, Zanac voices understanding and accepts the decision. Before parting, Ainz inquires about Razor Edge since Zanac is wearing Gazef Stronoff's armor, and Zanac confirms Brain Unglaus wields it in the royal capital. Joking about not needing spells to crush them, Zanac still asks for merciful deaths without pain and Ainz promises to kill him gently, much to Zanac's gratitude. Before parting ways, Zanac inquires if Ainz had his brother killed and Ainz thought it most likely one of his subordinates did it. A thankful Zanac departs now knowing his brother's fate, with Ainz seeing him and thinking he was acting truly how a royal should.

Riding back to camp, Zanac recalls Ainz's words and concludes himself unfit to be king, wanting only to have made Re-Estize respectable. At his tent, Zanac confirms to the Nobles present that he could not convince the Sorcerer King to accept surrender. Entering, he tells the Minister of Military Affairs that the meeting technically went as expected with their surrender refused, and Zanac notes to the Representative that Ainz's motivations were surprisingly human despite being a monster. Asking about their plan of attack, his minister notes their reduced numbers from prior conflict and how he missed Gazef's experience even though he didn't like him, then they hear the guards outside are killed as the Nobles barge in. With their only way to survive being victory, the Nobles know they cannot win against the undead, so they are planning to kill Zanac to offer his death as a pledge of loyalty to the Sorcerer King. Refusing to just lay over, Zanac states his pride being in the royal family and draws his sword, inviting the traitors to attack him if they want him dead. Back at Ainz's encampment, the same nobles request an audience and beg for service to Ainz, offering Zanac's head as a "gesture of loyalty," to the Overlord's shocked. Ainz orders Albedo to bury Zanac's remains with respect, and asks the nobles what happened to Zanac's armor. Answering that it was left on his corpse, Ainz is pleased with the answer and asks what they want, as all state in unison that they and their families be spared. Ainz understands and will spare their families as rewards for their actions accordingly, directing Albedo to take them to Neuronist Painkill and the men ignorantly follow. Ainz orders Aura to relay to Neuronist to only kill the men once they beg for death, then grabs her arm to then supplement that Neuronist kill them as slowly as possible upon the request. Aura acknowledges the order before departing, and as Ainz has lost interest in mercy, he orders Mare and Cocytus use their strength freely as they alone will now slaughter every single person in Re-Estize.
