First Love Thief ♡ Yuri-sensei (初恋泥棒♡ユリ先生) is the seventy-first chapter of the Overlord: The Undead Oh! series.

Summary[]

Pestonya Shortcake Wanko and Nigredo are folding sheets in confinement when they are interrupted by Yuri Alpha and announces to the two that intends to build an orphanage in E-Rantel and wants help.

Some backstory is provided that during Jaldabaoth's attack on the Royal Capital, behind the scenes many people were taken to the Great Tomb of Nazarick secretly. After they were abducted, in order to avoid them from leaking information, all men, women and children that were captured were to be disposed of at Ainz Ooal Gown's orders.

Pestonya and Nigredo defied those orders, as it went against their karma good creations of the Supreme Beings. Instead they spared the infant children. Their actions were found out by their peers, and while the sparing of the human babies was not considered much of a security risk, the duo were severely criticized for disobeying orders. Hence disciplinary action applied and they were imprisoned in the Frozen Prison.

In the present Yuri is all the more eager to have the two join her on this project as a way to uplift their spirits after being in confinement and praises Ainz for his mercy in allowing this. The three women sit around a table and Pestonya starts by asking what kind of orphanage Yuri intends to build.

Yuri explains from Ainz's instructions that the facility would not just take in orphans but also widows who lost their husband in the last war and be hired as staff. The Head Maid sees that the new orphanage will be a social services instituted for society to maintain public order which she approves.

What Yuri wants to focus on is giving the children higher education so that the orphanage can turn out excellent human resources. Her hope is that the orphanage will help find children with talents or inborn abilities. Nigredo is somewhat interested in the work, though her interest is only maintained for children less than two years old.

Pestonya correctly deduces that the children the are currently caretaking will be taken to the orphanage, until it is built. Pestonya and Nigredo had been taking care of them in the Frozen Prison despite the harsh environment. Through the use of Pestonya's priest abilities she has summoned angels to assist them in the caretaking.

Nigredo remarks that angels were the best fit for raising children as they can work 24 hours without any sleep. Plus Nigredo can kill the summons without consequence when she has one of her episodes as the angels can always be summoned again. Despite the extreme violence to the angels, Pestonya admits that Nigredo was adept at caregiving.

Yuri thinks that using angels would help the children become less resistant to the idea of the Sorcerer Kingdom using summoned monsters due to having pleasant memories of the angels as they grow up. Though for Nigredo, sadly Yuri feels that her face would be rememberable though not in a good way.

Nigredo states that she and Pestonya can't take all the credit for raising the children, as others secretly helped. Such as Shihoutu Tokitu and Clavu who prepared baby food, Cocytus and his Frost Virgins in playing and comforting the children and even Neuronist Painkill who was tolerant to the crying of the children whilst she was working.

Yuri expands that in the future, the coexistence of various races will continue so the children will need to get use to seeing other races. When Nigredo brings up that Yuri looks human enough even though she is a friendly undead, the Pleiades thinks that won't do as it would be better for her to have a more undead appearance. Though not so much as to scare the children. She asks her colleagues for help on making her image more suitable.

Elsewhere at the Bar, Aura Bella Fiora was called there by a depressed Shalltear Bloodfallen having heard the rumor about Yuri being in charge of an orphanage. The vampire is worried for Yuri, though Aura states why as Yuri is pretty strong to take care of herself. Only then Shalltear is more worried for Yuri experiencing the tragedies of "first love" (hatsukoi) to the orphanage.

To iterate she states that Yuri being kind and caring to the children under her charge will always remain the same over the years. And then there will come a time where the children will leave and bury their feelings towards Yuri due to the obstacles of such a relationship. In short Shalltear worries about the children as according to Aura. Shalltear though insists its just a small sort of mysterious compassion. If that's how Shalltear feels Aura encourages the other Floor Guardian to do something. Her suggestion is silently supported by Clavu who wishes Shalltear to leave his establishment in due haste.

Aura and Shalltear then head to meet Yuri to see if they can help, only to find that Yuri has taken off her head and is holding it in her arms. The dullahan then asks her guests if this look is good for her. Upon seeing this Shalltear in tears cries this is the result of "first love". Yuri though tells them her decapitation is to help bring the children at the orphanage to accept the common racial diversity of the Sorcerer Kingdom.

Shalltear thinks that Yuri removing her head in front of the children is bad for them and advises she puts it back on. Though its more in her worries that see her decapitated head will result in the children developing a fetish for dullahans. Aura listening to her friend's nonsensical musing asks her to shut up. But the vampire goes on to say it will result in a crushing disappointment to the children when see other dullahans who fall in comparison to Yuri.

Yuri, though, becomes concerned that her example might cause the children to be scared of her this way. Aura believes that her detached head mind evoke interest as children have flexible minds. Maybe even find the whole thing pretty and even draw a picture of Yuri like that. Aura thinks that the picture could cause an issue to those who don't know the context and assume the worst of seeing a child draw a head removed from a woman. That especially worries Yuri as it might cause misunderstandings for the orphanage.

Another issue that Aura points out is the loss of the use of Yuri's hands now that they are holding her head. But Yuri believes that it gives her the advantage of meeting the children on eye level which Aura agrees will allow her to see her charges better. Yuri adds that this way will help cover her blind spots with the children without crouching down. According to Yuri Alpha, removing her head from her body is convenient as her chest usually obscures her vision when looking down, thus her head is in the best place to allow children not to look too high.

Shalltear is curious if that is true, which Yuri comes to believe so as the former seems to always focused in the chest area when speaking to her, which Aura comments is not a good thing. Regardless, Shalltear argues that Yuri's other charming attributes will be a distraction to the children. Yuri admits Shalltear has a point and wonders if she should adjust her look to something more modest and less distracting. Her long skirt could be an issue if a baby tries crawling under her legs, and there might be an incident where Yuri might accidentally step on the toddler with her heels.

Yuri then changes into more practical clothes including an apron, white shirt and pants. This evokes distress from Shalltear as this look will cause her to not just steal the hearts of boys but girls. Aura though thinks they are okay. But Shalltear is adamant that the clothes will cause admiration of the widows and discourage them from remarrying. And even goes on to say that Yuri will be the focus of marriage proposals by her charges, despite Yuri insistence that all she is doing is raising children.

The vampire still thinks that to avoid this it would be best to wear a mask from a Manservant, but is argued by Aura that it would make Yuri look shady. Shalltear asks if there are any other masks Yuri can use, but the maid states that the only one she has in possession is the Demon Maid mask she uses with Jaldabaoth. But even so Yuri refuses to use that mask for obvious reasons.

Another idea is tried with Yuri ending wearing round goofy-like glasses and tying her hair in twin tails. Her dull and plain looks is deemed acceptable by her peers as now she looks like a stereotypical teacher. Yuri excuses herself as she must meet with Albedo o discuss the details of the management of the orphanage and thanks the two for all their help. So excited that she is to show her superior her new look, Yuri attempts to adjust her glasses on her head but out of habit her fingers head to the top of her shoulders and not the head in her hands.

Albedo who is in Ainz's office is just about ready to receive Yuri to talk about the orphanage's policies when the maid comes in with her new look. Ironically Yuri's new look to appear less distracting caused just that for Albedo who demands an explanation.
