Nazarick Sugoroku (ナザリックすごろく) is the sixty-seventh chapter of the Overlord: The Undead Oh! series.
Summary[]
In the Pleiades room, three maids, Yuri, Entoma and Lupusregina sit around a table. Yuri notices that Lupusregina is holding a scroll that introduces the three particular villagers of Carne Village. Lupusregina explains that it introduces Enri, Nemu and Nfirea, that latter being noteworthy due to his focus on potion development.She wants Yuri and Entoma to help her check it before she presents it to Ainz. The two other Pleiades are glad to help, which delights Lupsureginas as she has been wanting to try the scroll out.
This brings a questioning look on Yuri, when Lupusregina unfurls the scroll, presenting it as Nazarick Sugoroku, a board game she invented.
A few days ago, Ainz tasked Lupusregina in giving Nemu and her companions a tour of Nazarick. The maid showed the guests a small part of Nazarick, and it was enough to leave the humans awed by the splendor of the floors created by the Supreme Beings, though at this point only a part of it has been shown as it was to impress them and now Ainz worries about secrecy. But he is distracted about showing off again when it comes to mind that Nemu may want to visit again, which the undead decides to permit given the girl's charm.
To avoid Nazarick's secrets from being compromised, he gives the task to Lupusregina who promises to handle it. Hence how she came up with a fun and relaxing way to explore Nazarick via the game she made.
Back to the present Yuri examining the games finds that it is appropriate for Nemu's age and may not be too boring. Entoma wants to try and play it, which Lupusregina encourages as she tested it. Lupusregina divides the roles to play in the game, giving Entoma as Enri and Yuri as Nemu. Yuri is adverse to playing as Nemu, as she feel she should be given the role as Enri since she is the oldest sister. But since Entoma is eager to be the older sibling, Yuri relents just this once.
Lupusregina then explains Nazarick Sugoroku, a game where players roll the dice to advance through the board to their goal. As agreed by Ainz, the rooms that are featured in the game start on the 9th Floor and lead to the 1st Floor. Each player has five lives to navigate through the board. Yuri starts and rolls a 1 on the board.
However Yuri states that Lupusregina should rewrite the letters on the board, as they are in kanji and not in the script of the New World. Though she worries about the literacy of those who play the game, but Lupusregina is confident Enri knows her letters as Nfirea taught her. And if Nemu can't understand, Lupusregina will translate it for the girl. Plus the basics of the game should be easy to grasp for people in the New World, as the numerical values are constant.
Entoma rolls next and lands a 2 bringing her on a spot on the board that sets her back one life. This draws concern for Yuri as it introduces the concept of death to the players, who are suppose to be children like Nemu. Lupusregina though promises to sugarcoat the penalties of the game by stating players that lost their lives while exploring Nazarick are detained by skeletons for a talk. It's Yuri' turn and get rolls a 2 landing her on a [Teleportation] square sending her eight squares in front. She lands on the Black Capsule and loses one life. Entoma is next and rolls a 6 progressing further.
Out of curiosity Yuri asks how many squares there are in total in the game and is given the answer of forty-one, representing the Forty-One Supreme Beings. Due to the small number of squares, Yuri feels that its too small for Sugoroku, though the game is kept interesting and treacherous given the squares that can potentially decrease the number of lives. For instance, Entoma lands on a square called "Skeleton's Welcome Hug" and loses another life, leaving her with only three and yet only managed to progressed to 8 squares.
Yuri advances by four squares after a roll bring her total of squares traversed to nine. She lands on a square where she is is invited to a girl's room and loses one square and takes singing lessons. Through this Entoma is able to catch up. Yuri looking at the description of square leads her to believe that the girl is either Nigredo or a Frost Virgin from the 5th Floor. However she quickly deduces that its Neuronist.
As the game continues, the maids encounter square where their characters encounter various undead such as undead and a Door Imitator. By the time Entoma reaches her fifteenth square, she is down to her one life to her exhaustion. There are only twenty-six squares left but moving forward without dying any further seems impossible. Especially with the 1st and 3rd Floors approaching where Shalltear reigns.
The games continue, and Yuri's path leads her to a square where her character encounters Spear Needles. It's not fortunate for Entoma who lands in the 5th Floor and loses her life after her character freezes to death. Though its game over for Entoma, Yuri advances her character and ends up on the 7th Floor where her character loses one life. Yuri asks what Lupusregina thinks of the game, which the other answers with a deep sigh and states she added such features to showcase Nazarick's defense. Still Yuri is disappointed as its game over for her when her character is eaten by a slime.
Entoma and Yuri have feedback on the mechanics of the game, such as adding more lives or squares that are more positive for the players. Lupusregina is shown to be glum on the changes as she found the game sadistically enjoyable but accepts the changes they recommend. All in all, the maids found that they lost track of time as they found it fun still.
Lupusregina is then ready to take the game and show it to Ainz. Ainz when presented with the board wants to play as Nemu. Lupusregina thinking back on how the last game turned out, now sweats with worry. Regretting of showing the game to Ainz, Lupusregina makes an excuse that she wants to present it to Nemu instead, quickly vacating the room to Ainz's confusion. Some time later, its shown she is seen showing Nemu and Enri how to play Nazarick Sugoroku.
