Narberal vs Ojisan (ナーベラルvsおじさん) is the fifty-ninth chapter of the Overlord: The Undead Oh! series.
Summary[]
Yuri Alpha is greeted warmly by Entoma Vasilissa Zeta with a hug. After the hug Yuri tells her sister to allow her to take a full look at her. To Entoma dismay Yuri asks her if she gained any weight. To add insult to injury, Yuri blames Entoma's greater weight to her constant snacking at Kyouhukou's Black Capsule. Yuri then orders Entoma to refrain from going there causing Entoma to cry at losing her buffet area. Seeing her unhappy, Yuri then takes another tactic and goes to the Black Capsule herself. There amongst Kyouhukou brethren, Yuri cannot help but feel uncomfortable. While in the room Yuri tries to avoid looking directly at the disgusting mass of cockroaches and manages to remain polite and address the Area Guardian about Entoma.
Much later Yuri is at the surface of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. While she is waiting, Yuri wonders about the troubles of her other sisters. She greets a returning Ainz Ooal Gown. Once Ainz's Ring of Ainz Ooal Gown is returned to him, he informs the leader of the Pleiades that Narberal has remained in E-Rantel. Curious Yuri asks Ainz about Narberal, if she is an inconvenience. At first unwilling to speak of it, her master reveals that Narberal opinion against humans is overbearing. He mentions that would be helpful if she was more friendly as she regards all humans as lower life forms that needs to be killed. Not only that she seems neglectful in remembering strangers' names and her unfriendliness to be awkward in social situations.
Exasperated by this revelation on Narberal, Yuri promises Ainz that she will help tutor the errant maid in being friendly to humans and behaving normally in society. At a private meeting Yuri informs Narberal that they will be doing communication training to interact with humans. To help them with her training Yuri brings out an assistant, a old human man which is actually a doppelgänger who introduces himself as Chotchino Takaioji and begins to offer his hand, but it is slapped away by the maid to Yuri's horror.
Yuri though manages to correct this behavior, with the threat of a fist, and have Narberl respond with a friendly handshake. But no sooner did the other doppelgänger hold her hand she throw him on the ground, earning Yuri's frustration. Narberal complains that she don;t like the dampness, which Chotchino and Yuri explain to be hand sweat humans exude. Narberal fails to remember Chotchino's name much to her embarrassment. Yuri then offers Narberal a tip on how to recover a person's name through subtle social interaction without losing face of having forgotten the name. Yuri also underscores that even if she does not know a party's name she should refrain from calling them mites and abus. At the very least Yuri suggests that she make it ambiguous, such as comparing the other party to a less defamatory bug. For example calling the old man Chotchino as a ladybug, butterfly, rhinoceros beetle or even a stag beetle would not be too insulting.
Going onto handshakes, Yuri instructs Narberal to maintain a friendly attitude and even shake the other person's hand with both hands to emphasize gratitude. However the old man doppelgänger adds some input, that Narberal should be mindful when she shakes hands as if he were ever to be seen being shook with both hands by such a beautiful woman, then his life would earn the ire of the people envious of him. This a fact that Yuri nd her sister are oblivious to the attention their appearances possess since they take it for granted.
Chotchino raises a question if preparing Narberal to act overly nice is a bit overdoing it? Yuri though thinks it is necessary given Narberal's crude behavior. The old man then asks Narberal if she is ready to demonstrate only to receive a silent pout from the Pleiades maid to which Chotchino responds that she is messing up the flow in his heart.
Narberal interjects stating she can just stay calm in a social conversation without reacting to others. Her suggestion to Yuri would help avoid future problems for Ainz and would satisfy Narberal's uncaring attitude. The head of the Pleiades then asks if Narberal had any decent contact with anyone outside Nazarick, though the latter can only think of one person who enjoyed her condescending attitude. This revelation shocks Yuri thinking that someone was a criminal or with a shifty reputation, and given Narberal's role as an adamantite class adventurer it would not be impossible for it. If this person is a well-known client, Naberal's change in behavior would be an issue. The best thing Yuri realizes for Narberal to be to reverse her education of social interaction.
Yuri does some reflection and wonders what kind of advice she is giving to her sisters and if truly she is thinking what is best for them. This goes back to when she told Entoma to go on a diet causing her sister's breakdown.
Immediately Yuri calls the training session over and to do as she pleases. Yuri then locates Entoma who has quitted snacking. To the contrary Yuri tells her that will be necessary, arguing that since Entoma subsists on insects with are high in protein, they are suitable to dieting. This basically gives Entoma permission to resume eating Kyouhukou's children as a usual staple, much to the Area Guardian's charign.
Narberal as it so happens as a result of her training from Yuri has displayed silent coldness to her admirers, though it is a definite change to Momonga from when she actively insulted passerby's. Though it confuses him when she says "Flattery is for ladybugs".
