Obamas Collaboration Obabo For Short (オバマスコラボ略してオバボ) is the fifty-sixth chapter of the Overlord: The Undead Oh! series.
Summary[]
Albedo and Pandora's Actor report to Ainz Ooal Gown that a secret message from KADOKAWA was just received. To Ainz it signals that it's nearly that time of the year. He is not surprised since Mass for the Dead is doing a limited special for their 3rd Anniversary. In mind he wonders if the game is doing a Chaos Relic for a collaboration special, like when Nazarick did that photo session for the game last time.
Albedo confirms his expectations when she tells him that the for the 3rd Anniversary of Obamas, Nazarick is once again in charge of the collaboration for the Chaos Relic. However he is shocked on what theme they will be doing: "Celebrating the 3rd Anniversary, For the Gathering of the Supreme Beings!"
The Overseer Guardian explains that they will be doing a group illustration of the Forty-One Supreme Beings. However since it is a large number of Supreme Beings, realistically doing all forty-one is not feasible so the plan is to only show twelve. Among that will be include are: Momonga, Touch Me, Ulbert Alain Odle, Bukubukuchagama, Yamaiko, Herohero, Peroroncino, Tabula Smaragdina, Warrior Takemikazuchi, Nishikienrai, Luci★Fer, and Punitto Moe. Th e brings some relief to Ainz as he was worried that the NPCs expected their creators to return, as he is the only Supreme Being left, but it's only a illustration of his comrades. To assist in drawing the Supreme Beings that will appear for the illustration, Pandora's Actor openly declares to use his abilities to appear as them to use as a model for the artwork and combine them into a single panel. This is a bit surprising for Ainz as last time Slimeko took a picture for the last anniversary image. Albedo though explains that all the composite shooting and artwork will be done in Nazarick. A representative from KADOKAWA is not needed as Nazarick has borrowed some equipment from them such as a terminal with image editing software. A question is asks by Ainz if Albedo knows how to use such equipment. But Pandora's Actor is confident that he can use the equipment if he transforms into Whitebrim, after all he was a manage artist in his profession. However Ainz doubts real-world abilities can be copied by the doppelgänger. Albedo assures him that she and the Treasurer are up to the task as they took some seminars of image editing.
Albedo moves the meeting to the selection of the composition of the illustration. Ainz though asks if anyone else like Demiurge will be involved in this project. Albedo though tells that she has not spoken to Demiurge on this yet as she feels that he cannot calm down when it comes to anything involving the Supreme Beings, especially his creator Ulbert. To Albedo she boldly asserts states that the main focus of this artwork can be handled by just the three of them.
The meeting begins with a meeting of Albedo going over what to decide on stage of the Chaos Relic. A series of slides on a project or used to demonstrate the overview. The presentation to Ainz comes a bit of a surprise as he asks if the two receive this training KADOKAWA or took a page from Shizyuutensuzaku. Albedo going in talks about the plan for the image for "Congratulations on the 3rd anniversary of the launch". Ideas are thrown around for the Chaos Relic like presenting a banquet or party for the anniversary image. Pandora's Actors suggests that they could have a lot of people present in the image and Ainz admits that before going into battle he and his guildmates would consume food to buff themselves. However the food banquet idea does not evoke a sense of celebration for the anniversary. Plus just eating food would be a waste of buffs. Albedo then moves that the idea for the buffing scene be used in the 4th anniversary. One issue though is that Ainz is undead thus he cannot consume any food thus Ainz would be left out in the illustration. Pandora's Actor believes that the image need not be that accurate.
Due to the mistaken belief that Mass for the Dead is an idol game, another idea is to present the Supreme Beings as a legendary idol group: AOG41. Though Pandora's Actor worries that there may be too much adult content like drinking involved. Albedo argues that they do not have to put the dark side of the industry into focus but show a concert or idol campaign. Even behind the scenes images could do and the two begin to synthesize an image where Pandora's Actor could play as the staff. But there are concern of putting out of context people into the relic.
A new idea comes to mind from Ainz. He and his comrades once attended a gathered to view fireworks that the guildmembers kept in their Item Boxes. Ainz's proposal is accepted with great adulations by the two NPCs. Ainz remembers that last time he lit fireworks was in the graveyard on the 1st Floor. Before though the Great Tomb of Nazarick was located in Helheim of YGGDRASIL where the sky was always dark and covered with overcasting clouds. While lighting up fireworks was fun in the graveyard, they received penalties due to their karma values. Plus having at a graveyard would kill the moment. Albedo still wants to go through with the scene and declares they should do it at "Magic Hour" when the color of the sky is beautiful for a limited time before and after sunrise and sunset. Taking the scene at the beach would be perfect during the summertime according to the demoness. Her enthusiasm for the idea goes to the point of calling out to set up a setting for summer training camp for the supposed idol group AOG41. Ainz worries that the Overseer Guardian is jumping ahead of herself as they are still in February 2022. The three work through the process of discussing, taking shots and renumerating the title of the image.
The frame of the final masterpiece is presented to the assembled Floor Guardians and they are told that plans will be made to make the image into an exhibit at the library once it is done. Some of the Floor Guardians present ask why Albedo is telling them about the upcoming artwork. Demiurge though explains that information was withheld due to the relation it had to the Supreme Beings. It takes a moment for the statement to sink in before the Guardians erupt with a fury of questions on the Obamas project and their creators. Albedo is embarrassed to find that Demiurge so easily connected the dots. The other Floor Guardians are infuriated that KADOKAWA would use their creators without their permission. Shalltear Bloodfallen suggests that they should take Slimeko hostage to force them to negotiate terms on the Obamas project. Ainz though thinks maybe that's why Slimeko refrained coming. Demiurge thinks they should retaliate by opening a [Transfer Gate] believing Ainz would take this to KADOKAWA directly. Shalltear begs Ainz to take action, but even Ainz as the Sorcerer King has no power over KADOKAWA.
Alboed explains that the Supreme Beings will not be actually present for the shot, but Pandora's Actor will be playing their roles. Disappointed at this, the Floor Guardians drop the argument and leave. Albedo now alone in her room is relieved that the other Guardians and even Demiurge have not suspected a thing as she burns the report from KADOKAWA. That the truth of the matter is the Supreme Beings implemented by Obamas are just actors and that the real ones have abandoned them. To her only Momonga is worthy and cuddles a Momonga Plushie.
The last scene shows Pandora's Actor depressed after the rejection from the other Guardians and asks his creator why he is so disliked.
