In the game, Lupusregina Beta was penalized for her laxity on maintaining the security of the 6th Floor from the Chaos Beasts emerging from the Crack. Her lack of seriousness and dedication in reporting on an increase in Chaos Beast activity caused Momonga to be pull Lupusregina from her post and made to reflect on her actions. Distraught at her failure, Lupsregina received advice from Cocytus to seek the protagonist to help her achieve "growth." The protagonist then learning of her plight offered to educate her on Ho-Ren-So via the textbook he possessed at Ashurbanipal.[1]

It is an "abbreviation of "Hōkoku" (報告, to report), "Renraku" (連絡, to inform) and "Sōdan" (相談, to consult), and is more memorable as a homonym of hōrensō, the Japanese word for "spinach".
