Ainz's Red Orb is the tentative name for one of the World Items under the possession of Ainz Ooal Gown.
Description
In the Web Novel, when the Great Tomb of Nazarick was once invaded by players of YGGDRASIL, Ainz noted that half of the invaders fell victim to this World Item and died in combat because of it.[1]
According to Maruyama, Momonga's name is attached to that World Item. The author went as far as to state that it is a top-notch “SECRET-OF-Momonga” which nobody but him alone should be able to know about. No matter who got a hold of this World Item, the name cannot be change as it belongs to Momonga.[2]
Appearance
It takes on the shape of a reddish glowing orb. In the Light Novel, this red orb was said to exude an aura of dread from how the workers of Foresight viewed it.
Abilities
In the Web Novel, Ainz notes that the red orb is a World Item that becomes more powerful as long as he continues wielding it. Although Roberdyck used his fists to hit the red orb, which he believed to be Ainz's supposed weakness, the hardness of this World Item was strong enough to easily withstand a blow from the Worker's attack. It was to the point that his fists were repelled by the World Item's hardness, leaving an astounding recoil on the Worker's gauntlet-like weapon, and the gauntlet completely broke apart during the process.
Trivia
- Based on Ainz's description about the World Item in the Web Novel, the fact that it can get stronger is a bit similar to that of another World Item known as World Savior.
- Unlike the Web Novel, it remains unclear whether this red orb of his is really the same World Item Ainz possessed in the Light Novel, under that form or just something else different entirely.
