Memory of Chaos: Hamsuke was a character scenario released in Mass for the Dead, featuring the character Hamsuke.[1]

Episode 1: Promise With Master[]

In the Great Forest of Tob, Hamsuke, the Wise King of the Forest awaits for her master, Aura Bella Fiora, to return from the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Hamsuke appears nervous on the dark elf's return as she remembers Aura gave her an order to regain her lost territory. However, the demon beast is at a loss on how she can get it back as defeating the Chaos Beasts that usurped her territory requires help. Hamsuke shudders at the memory of her defeat, but tries to focus on the rewards she might earn if she makes Aura proud of her like gaining a mate. Determined not to lose, Hamsuke starts what she calls her "Shining Wise King of the Forest Comeback Plan." But before Hamsuke can enact the plan, her stomach growls so she decides to find something to eat first. After locating a suitable prey, Hamsuke's stomach is now content though her big meal causes her to feel sleepy but snaps back to focus when she remembers her plan. Hamsuke knows she cannot outmatch the Chaos Beasts in terms of strength so she believes the answer lies in outsmarting them in wisdom and experience. In doing so, Hamsuke realizes that she may not be alone in the invasion of the Chaos Beasts as the other denizens of the forest must be also adversely suffering. She resolves then to recruit allies to help her retake her former territory.

Episode 2: Return Of Guardian[]

Meanwhile, Aura, who returned to Nazarick safely, came to the Round Table Room to report her investigation of the outside world and her taming of the Wise King of the Forest. Aura tells her master Momonga that she had left the demon beast in the Tob Forests so to maintain the security of the area against the Chaos Beasts. Albedo is unsure of the action in leaving the beast behind in the forest as she feels that taking it back to Nazarick in bolstering its defense would have been a better option. Though Aura explains her reasoning for leaving her new pet behind so that Nazarick can eventually take control of the Great Forest of Tob as it is an untapped resource of materials and manpower. In addition to that, she believes by taming the Wise King, it will be beneficial to regain her Beast Tamer levels as many of her beasts were killed during the attack on Nazarick. Momonga sees that Aura's idea has some merit and can definitely help make-up for their forces' shortfall, plus with the Crack existing in the forest they need someone to keep an eye on it. If they place the Wise King of the Forest to rule over the entire Tob Forests then Nazarick will not have to spend anything, making it cost effective. Aura also reports to Momonga that the demon beast is currently regaining its territory. Albedo questions on the monster's trustworthiness and asks if there is a chance of rebellion. Aura states that Hamsuke has intelligence but is really timid so the idea is unlikely. The name of the monster intrigues Momonga who pictures a hamster judging by the name. However, to assure Albedo's fears, Momonga agrees on the idea of sending over a Death Knight to monitor it. If Hamsuke betrays them, the undead will then execute her. Back in the forest, Hamsuke is in search of "friends" to help her reclaim her home.

Episode 3: Wise King's Friends[]

A small party of goblins having been overwhelmed by their hunger are in search of any food they could find small such as amounts of nuts and wildflowers. Due to their fears of the Chaos Beasts and Contaminated Beasts, the goblins have been forced to eke out a life to avoid them but at the cost of being unable to secure enough food. One of the goblins soon detects the scent of the Wise King and tells his fellows to withdraw. They do so too late as Hamsuke arrives before them. Seeing their fear, the Wise King of the Forest ask the goblins to relax as she would like a word from them. She asks that the leader of the goblins step forward who timidly asks what the beast wants with them. Hamsuke first introduces herself by her new name and tells them that she would like their aid to help her restore the order in the forest and drive the invaders from it. The goblins faced with starvation have doubts on their ability to retake the forest with a few believing they should simply abandon the area and go to another location. The lack of morale is seen by Hamsuke who then offers to take them to a place where there is abundant of food for them. She tells them that if the goblins were to leave the forest, they may have to experience some difficulty properly settling to a new place as the Chaos Beasts roam outside the boundaries as well. Still unconvinced, Hamsuke also offers to provide a few days worth of food for their cooperation. With this in mind, the goblins have a short consultation with each other and agree to an alliance with the Wise King of the Forest, making Hamsuke one step closer in reclaiming her territory and restoring peace to the forest.

Episode 4: Reunion With Master[]

However even with the goblins at her back, Hamsuke was still unable to retake her territory. She and her newfound demi-human allies wait in shame as they are greeted by Aura who has returned from Nazarick. Hamsuke informs the Floor Guardian of her failure and expects to be skinned for her fur. To the contrary though, Aura did not expect Hamsuke to accomplish in retaking her territory, but is impressed by the fact that she garnered allies to help restore the order of the forest. To help them in their endeavor, Aura brought a Death Knight to strengthen their forest to act as a "friend" to her pet. Hamsuke initially afraid of the undead, after being reassured by Aura warmly welcomes the Death Knight. As the two interact with each other, Aura states that the first step in reclaiming the forest would be to set up a Crack alert network. Hamsuke then guides Aura, the Death Knight and the goblins to the location of the Crack. Noticing the relative silence in the area, Aura asks her minion if there has been any new Chaos Beasts or Contaminated Beasts found in the area. Hamsuke is not sure as even though she slayed so many Contaminated Beasts, she cannot tell them all apart if they were vestiges of previous Crack contamination since she cannot approach the Crack. Aura wonders if the frequency of the Crack glowing and spewing out Chaos Beasts is the same as the Crack in the Throne Room. Her pet asks Aura on what their purpose is by coming to the location, which Aura informs Hamsuke that he plans on making the hamster the de-facto ruler of the forest. They will fight against the Chaos Beasts with the aid of the Death Knight. Coming before the Crack, Aura spots that it is beginning to glow brightly, signaling to her that Chaos Beasts will soon emerge and orders everyone to get ready.

Episode 5: Rematch[]

With everyone in position, Aura order her skeleton summons to march onward to fight the Chaos Beasts but then they fall back, causing the latter to give chase and the goblins to do the same as well. Both groups lure the Chaos Beasts into a killing zone created by Hamsuke, the Death Knight and Aura, reducing the number of enemies effectively. As Hamsuke and the Death Knight fight alongside one another, it eventually forms a bond with the latter after the Death Knight saves her life. The Crack's effects subside when the last Chaos Beast is dead. With their victory finally assured at last, Aura relegate Hamsuke control of the forest which the latter proudly accepts along with her new friend the Death Knight.
