Full Summary[]
Episode 1: Divided[]
Using the power of the "Divine Right" derived from Kuyō, Enhela Read Gahi interfered with the Crack at the Throne Room. Through the Crack, he "hacked" the management system of the Great Tomb of Nazarick and brought it under his own control. Although the veracity of his claim was still uncertain, Momonga and his comrades quickly began preparations for a plan to retake the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
Solution having scouted the area ahead, sadly reports that as Momonga expected that there is only one place they can enter which is the Central Mausoleum. The stairs leading up are blocked, and there are now five unidentified statues enshrine in the mausoleum. Momonga thanks the Pleiades maid for her hard work, and asks more about the statues.
And while Momonga claims he does not truly recognize them, it's a bit of a misleading statement on his own part. He just checked them out using his subordinate's vision, and does not recognize them. But there appears to be a stone tablet at the foot of the statues, which indicates that they lead to a type of dungeon.
Solution notes Momonga seems to have a hint of recognition at the scene. Momonga having refrained from telling Solution and others who had been investigating the boundaries of Nazarick. Although he may have told Demiurge and the others after receiving the initial report. He reveals that the statues are vaguely similar to the entrance to Nazarick, back when it was still an unexplored dungeon. If the system that Enhela is using has allowed him to taken control over the Great Tomb of Nazarick, then the place may now be a dungeon that can be conquered simultaneously.
Solution asks what a simultaneous-attack dungeon is. To which Momonga explains that it is a dungeon that requires multiple teams to attack at the same time. If there are five statues, then they will probably need five teams. It will be hard as each team will be forced to act separately in the dungeon. Momonga comments such dungeons were disliked by people, and even he felt like such things cut into enjoyment of sharing experience with his friends in half.
From the situation, Momonga expected as much, especially after he learned that he was unable to contact anyone still inside. It really seems like that Nazarick is now under Enhela's control, and that the facilities and security situation have been altered. Demiurge reports that it is unclear whether such a thing can be achieved simply by interfering with the management system, but if this is like the same kind of phenomenon that they experienced in the past, caused by the Crack and transformed the internal facilities then its possible.
Albedo adds that its possible that the other summons inside had their minds interfered with and are under Enhela's control. Momonga while thinking considers the Ariadne System, the monitoring mechanism that prevents players from creating bases that are impossible to reach the heart of. If it's functioning properly, it shouldn't be impossible to conquer. Even with the stairs blocked there are other routes that lead to the Throne Room. If the goal was to activate the Ariadne System and cause great damage, Enhela wouldn't tell them he would be waiting in the Throne Room.
However, depending on the situation, especially on the 8th Floor, it may be virtually impossible to conquer. It is also troublesome when Aureole Omega and Victim, who do not have any World Items, are brainwashed. Even if that wasn't difficult, the fact that the dungeon was set to a difficulty level requiring a large number of level 100 players makes it hard to beat on the first try.
However accepting Enhela's request, if the protagonist were to use his powers of "Divine Right" and faith in Kuyō, the number of enemies with unreasonable power might increase by two. Not to mention there is Enhela. Even if Momonga and his allies were to run or hide, that mysterious power possessed by the priest will just continue to target them and force them to make a choice. So even if the success rate is low, they have no choice but to try this time. Since that priest has trampled and soiled their Nazarick, Momonga honestly wants to make sure he gets a fitting punishment. This tad moment of anger gets him emotional before it dissipates.
Having processed all the information he and his subordinates have gathered, Momonga announces that any more ruminating on what to do would be wasting time as it would give the enemy more time to prepare for an intercept. Thus he plans to head out and asks Demiurge how preparations are undergoing.
The Floor GuarDian reports that in accordance to Momonga's orders, he has prepared several plans for dividing their current forces into five groups. In addition, he asked Cocytus for his input, who states that they also need to take into consideration of the weapons that each of them currently possesses. In his opinion the proposal Demiurge has laid out is the best.
Momonga flips through the plans to read the details. According to it the core members of each team are as follows. The remaining slots, less than six people, are to be filled with Death Knights, who excel as shields against unknown threats. The first team is composed of Cocytus, Narberal Gamma, and Evil Lord Greed. The second team is composed of Sebas Tian, Yuri Alpha, CZ2128 Delta and Evil Lord Wrath. The third team is composed of Demiurge, Entoma Vasilissa Zeta, Kyuko, and Evil Lord Envy. The fourth team is composed of Shalltear Bloodfallen, Solution, Slimeko and Pandora's Actor. The fifth team is composed of Momonga, Albedo, Aura Bella Fiora and Mare Bello Fiore.
Momonga who is looking over the plan frowns, as while he is sure there's a reason, he notes that his team's fighting power seems too bias. All the other teams have only one or two Floor Guardian class members. While his team has four, which includes himself. Demiurge is aware and apologizes. In consideration to the nature of the simultaneous-attack dungeon, which Momonga explained, and while Demiurge understands they should split their forces evenly, Albedo is the one who decided it was best to focus their military strength to protect the Supreme Being. In fact this arrangement is the minimum protection they can provide.
Cocytus speaks up saying that in reality, Momonga should stay outside the dungeon, and leave the challenging of Nazarick to them. However the decision is up to their master. Momonga though rejects the idea of staying behind as he hates to say it but with the total forces they have available, even if they challenge the dungeon without him, and even as Albedo as his guard, the chances of success will drop significantly.
Besides based on his experience in Nazarick, there are certainly benefits to creating strong biased teams. Plus he also doesn't think Enhela will simply adapt the specifications he knows. No matter which plan they adopt, there will be risks, and arguing about it now will be pointless. Demiurge asks for forgiveness, and tries to say that if the "possibility" of the example they discussed is real, then he believes that this group may not be adequate. However he does not finish as Momonga openly declares that it is fine and that they will move forward with Demiurge's proposal.
However Momonga comments that the only team without a World Item is Sebas's, who has chosen not to possess one since they are acting as a decoy outside the group after the incident with Shalltear. Just to be on the safe side, he will have Sebas borrow one from another team who has multiple World Items.
Sebas bows and obeys his master's order, feeling honored at being given such a item. Still Momonga wants to feel like if he had a World Item, that he could hold his own against the power that comes from a World Enemy...but with the situation as ridiculous as this, there's no guarantee that's the case. If there wasn't a six-person limit like YGGDRASIL, the risk could be lowered a bit, but even if the limit becomes stricter, the reverse doesn't seem to be the case. He muses that to think his own team's strength was biased during the attack on Nazarick, finding it a coincidence as Demiurge, Albedo and Cocytus who planned it out should not have come to such a plan, given they are not creations of Punitto Moe.
After a brief struggle of emotions, Momonga directs his subordinates that as soon as preparations are complete, they will be putting their plan into action. He asks if all forces that were recalled and deployed in the field have returned as they have a plan in this. Albedo confirms that Lupusregina Beta and CZ have returned from the Baharuth Empire, and Yuri has also returned from her supervisory duties at the Lizardman Village.
From Demiurge he adds that among those who were in charge of remote areas such as the Abelion Hills, the Evil Lords Wrath, Envy and Greed who have relatively capable fighting forces have also returned. In their absence the Abyss Demon will be taking over their management duties. Aura also states that she called Kyuko from the Great Forest of Tob, as she is strongest in the region and surpasses the Pleiades in level. She has also arrived, leaving Hamsuke and the others to guard the forest in her place.
It looks like to Momona that the only way to make up for the shortfall in the number of people on each team, six people, by using the Death Knights stationed on the surface as guards. Even if they are just local, it's fine if they can be used in their fighting force. However unlike the NPCs they might be vulnerable to the miasma. And there is no guarantee that they will be able to withstand the miasma controlled by Enhela so Momonga asks everyone to take heed.
Momonga then directs his attention to Shalltear, inquiring about the servants who managed to escape from the 1st Floor in time. The vampire states that some did escape, though sadly none were among those who were good at fighting. This can't be helped, so he will have them guard Foire on the surface. And while it will be difficult to take her away, there's still a chance that Enhela might use the general maid in some way. Shalltear understand and will them her remaining subordinates to protect the maid, even at the cost of their lives.
On the subject of covering up Nazarick's existence, Mare reports to his master that the surrounding terrain is still intact, and the illusory barrier seems to be fine. But should anything happen, the guards outside will let them know. Momonga is pleased by this. And for E-Rantel, the protagonist and Pandora's Actor have discussed it and have come up with a plan, so there should not be anything to worry on that end.
Everyone who has returned from part abound have been informed on the situation according to Demiurge using [Message]. This leaves the preparation time to be left at a minimum, but Momonga is willing to be flexible if they need more time to adjust. Momonga orders everyone to first gather in group as indicated on the paper and to share their plan to those who will soon arrive so that they can begin the operation to retake Nazarick.
Once everyone gathers, and the situation is discussed and shared, the protagonist voices his concerns on if they should proceed as his team as is. Shalltear is offended as this is a decision by their master and wonders if he is complaining. Momonga is more forgiving as it is unavoidable for someone to be against the plan, even though it will weaken their team's fighting power. Solution voices her own concern as there is only herself and Shalltear, the strongest Floor Guardian, Pandora's Actor who is the personal creation of Momonga and his trump card. But even with all this she is unsure if it will be enough.
The protagonist despondently comments that he was only included as a formality. Slimeko though speaks up stating that his inclusion is due to Momonga caring about him. Pandora's Actor voices that since Enhela is targeting the homunculus it would be difficult to leave him behind, and on the other hand considering it would be wiser to bring him along since he is a potential threat.
It's logical that they simply be on the same team as the protagonist. Given Enhela's objectives, this may seem like an unnecessary worry, but they have to be on guard. So this is their best option, so the protagonist's judgement is to be expected. From what Pandora's Actor says, Shalltear supports the team arrangement to be a decision that has already been made.
Shalltear is the team leader and with the addition of a Death Knight there are six people in her team. Although the protagonist was a little hesitant, the preparations were complete, including sharing information with other teams. Then when the groups entered the Central Mausoleum, they found the five statues there, just as they observed beforehand.
Momonga directs that each team stand in front of their assigned statue. The team leaders follow their orders. And as each team stood in front of their statue, several voices rang out: "---Awaiting before you are us, the Five Rulers." From that Momonga confirms that Enhela is using data from the Great Tomb of Nazarick era after all. Judging from the design of the statue, the boss awaiting them will probably not be the ones from back then. The voice then announces: "You who desire this land, defeat us and prove your strength."
After that message, five Cracks explode at the mausoleum. Momonga then tells his subordinates to confirm the safety of the portals by sending summons in, before heading into them. Just to be safe, they should have more than six people in reserve at their rear...but if there's a limit on the number of people, the entrance will close when six people enter. He tells them to keep that in mind. After all the other teams deploy, Momonga then goes with Albedo, armored in her Hermes Trismegistus into their assigned Crack. Before heading in Albedo sends in two Death Knight first.
Once safety is confirmed, Albedo has Aura take the lead and be on the lookout for traps. And in case of emergency one of the Death Knights will be Aura's shield. They will be followed by Lupusregina who will provide healing magic and support. Next will be Mare, and if anything should happen to the vanguard, he will be charged in using magic to protect Momonga behind her. As for Albedo she will be acting as the rear guard.
Momonga reminds everyone to be sure to protect themselves. After they pass through the Crack, he recommends them to check their surroundings and prepare to explore and to begin using items to buff themselves. And also to avoid not to get too far ahead of the vanguard. After carefully following the steps once again, Momonga's team finally stepped into the depths of the Crack that appeared like a gate.
Episode 2: Dungeon[]
Demiurge's team find themselves in what appears to be the ruined Amphitheater. Entoma recognizes that they are on the 6th Floor. Kyuko notices that some people are approaching them. Demiurge believes that they are what his master believed the stone statue represented, from his hunch, the "boss" for this route. However what he sees is a familiar sight: Albedo and Shalltear in wedding dresses. Entoma is astonished to see the two female Floor Guardians, especially in those outfits.
Demiurge recognizes that this is from the time when the two were competing to see who was most suitable to be his official wife. Envy sees that by taking control of Nazarick's management system, a recreation of equipment worn by Albedo and others in the past is a simple job to the new owner of Nazarick. This is refuted by Demiurge that this is the work of the Cracks which the enemy controls, as they are phenomena connected to the Sea of Possibilities. Even if the records are not directly within Nazarick's system, they can be pulled from beyond the Cracks and materialized through the medium of Nazarick.
The Floor Guardian advises that they need to be on guard against this possibility. In particular, they must be careful of cases where they imitate their appearances. Even in such cases, they have been strictly commanded to never hesitate to attack. The female demon agrees to such orders, as when it comes to the appearance of the Supreme Beings, even if she sees such a thing knows it in her head, they are imposters, she would still be in awe. The remaining female members of Demiurge's team promise to be on guard.
As for the two fakes of Albedo and Shalltear, they express their disappointment of how they are being looked down on, as their opponents are talking so casually to the enemy. This interest Demiurge, commenting that the fakes can converse with the same voice and tone, just as the people who they are based on.
This scenario was accounted for as revealed by Demiurge's as he thinks. Each team prior to entering Nazarick, were each given a password in case someone tried to impersonate the real team members or introduce allies into friendly fire. Since there appears to be no room for negotiation, Demiurge tries asking if the two fakes could escort him to the boss of the route as a gesture of kindness to his comrades.
The fakes though declare Demiurge and his team to be intruders and trash, blocking the ceremony of their beloved and instead opt to kill them. Unperturbed Demiurge then corrects himself, seeing that the two women despite looking like his colleagues, can now see that a conversation will not work. Entoma comments that its just typical seeing it's how Albedo and Shalltear would normally act. Despite being fake, Demiurge tells his teammates to not underestimate the women. He brings the Death Knights forward to see how they can contend with the fakes.
The fakes then attack, starting the confrontation. In the end the two entities are defeated and combust. After their defeat, Kyuko commented that they were surprisingly easy to beat. Demiurge thinks that perhaps that is due to being fakes or maybe something else. He recalls that at the time when the Queen War was happening, both female Floor Guardians did not regain much of their power as they are now, so maybe the fakes reflected that. And based on what they saw, Entoma thinks that could be it.
The boss they are looking for has to be much stronger than the two they just fought so Demiurge believes that they need to focus. Before they could act, the lights of the entire floor go dark. Even the stars of the artificial sky have been turned off. Kyuko attempts to illuminate their surroundings, but even her fireballs are not enough. Demiurge tells everyone to stay calm as it seems that this darkness is special kind. To see what is going on, Entoma attempts to send out her insect summons, when a voice rings out thanking the intruders for coming out.
The lights then come on revealing a brilliant stage with many general maids waving glow sticks. Demiurge recognizes this, from the stone statues that this is from the time Albedo and the others from the Idol Project collaborated. And to his shock he sees a copy of himself, as Demi-P who welcomes the team to the show he is hosting for LittleMasStar's revival.
Despite the odd situation, Demiurge feels its refreshing to see himself from an objective perspective. Besides the general maids, it appears there are more opponents, which includes fakes of Slimeko, Alkaline, Acidity, and Neutrally. Though Demiurge knows that the idols of the three Floor Guardians are fakes, his concern is for the general maids in attendance, as they are probably real. He tells his team that as long as they are not directly hostile to avoid hurting them.
As LittleMasStar declares who they are, Entoma recommends they do not leave the stage to contain the violence. Based on Demiurge's assertions the boss for this route is most likely Albedo or Neutrally. Even if they are not wearing their original equipment, the four people they are facing are Floor Guardians who have regained their powers more than the previous fakes they defeated.
Although Demiurge was prepared for this turn of events, the odds are not good for them. Looks like he will have to enact as Plan D that he shared beforehand. Demi-P then starts the music, signaling the fight against the team which Demiurge finds insulting as he thinks the fake is getting carried away.
On the 7th Floor, Sebas Tian leads his team through the lava ridden location. The butler has an idea who the boss of their route is. His team is soon approached by Demiurge wearing his mask, appearing as Jaldabaoth. CZ seeing the entity at first expected that she would be seeing themselves. Yuri knowing Sebas Tian's dislike of the demon, advises her superior to remain calm. Sebas though understands, but cannot help that this scenario is personally directed at him as if to mock him. But since what they are facing is a fake they should not back down.
Wrath admits he was a bit intimidated, but understands that person is not truly Demiurge. However Jaldabaoth is not alone, as many more versions of Demiurge appear, some in his Imp form, in a kimono, and even a vest suit. Jaldabaoth openly welcomes the intruders, stating it's an honor to meet Sebas.
This is interesting to Sebas as these entities no doubt recognize him, but feels that negotiation will be useless. The other fakes confirm that is true. But the situation is a good opportunity for Sebas, goading him that he could finally relieve some repressed anger at the person he reviles. Sebas does not fall for the taunts, stating that Demiurge is a being created by the Supreme Beings and thus he harbors no ungodly wish to kill him.
But as he charged himself up in a silent rage, admits that it would be a lie that he has no feelings against the real one. But even if they are all fakes, it is certainly a good opportunity for him. Seeing that they now agree, the fakes prepare to fight against the butler and his team. Yuri seeing the unrestrained bloodlust by Sebas, confirms that the relationship between him and Demiurge is not so shallow and can be stopped in words as she wields her gauntlets. CZ soon joins her sister stating not even Yuri can be stopped at this point. Wrath orders the Death Knights to focus on protecting the Pleiades from the aftermath of Sebas Tian's attacks.
Episode 3: Copy[]
Sebas Tian finds himself parrying against Jaldabaoth, and Imp Demiurge. He comments to himself that the fight is actually five against one of the Floor Guardians which is is not easy. He and his team managed to land attacks on the fakes, destroying them. Sebas attributes their victory due to being that the Demiurge were all from points in time when he had lost most of his levels. Plus these appear to not be equipped with the original's equipment so they do not have any countermeasures, so Wrath's [Time Stop] tactics work on them. Even so there is still more opponents.
Elsewhere in a a recreation of Nazarick Academy, a battle is raging with a battle equipped Cocytus and his teammates. Narberal taking a breather thought their route would be easy based on their statue's appearance. But as they are now experiencing Greed complains it's far from easy. Even for Cocytus, despite their opponents being fakes of the Pleiades, it is burdensome. Their opponents appears to contain fakes of the Pleaides equipped in swimsuits, fakes of the Demon Maids, Entoma and Solution in Christmas Costumes, kimono wearing Pleiades, Yuri in a chocolatier outfit, Lupusregina in a tenugui, etc.
All in all, their foes number a hundred. Greed notices that despite killing one after another that number has yet to decrease. Narberal realizes that the fakes are spawning endlessly until the boss is destroyed. This was one of the patterns Demiurge had predicted, and that the boss should be the in the image of the stone statue at the entrance to Nazarick. But the problem with that is that there are many fakes with the same appearance, so it will take time to eliminate them all. Cocytus advises his team to save their magic and skills and only target individuals who are candidates for being the boss. As for him, Cocytus declares he will destroy anyone who will become obstacles and use the Death Knights as shields against the fakes that get too close.
Through the battle, Narberal electrocutes a fake of herself in a waitress bunny costume, annoyed that this was not the right one and that her magic is getting dangerously low. A fake of her in a wedding dress approaches her, taunting the Pleiades that she is giving up, and should probably get on her knees and hands and beg for forgiveness like a maggot. This greatly insults Narberal, but is pulled back by Greed and Cocytus that they need to keep cool and not give into provocation. Narberal though tells her that her fake wasn't giving her a provocation but an honest opinion, much to Cocytus's and Greed's Disbelief. With the boss nowhere in sight Cocytus and his team have no choice but to continue their strategy.
For the protagonist's team, they find themselves in a recreation of the ruined city of Kalinsha. The scene is immediately recognized by the protagonist from that time in the past. From this it confirms that even Enhela can create sceneries outside Nazarick. Pandora's Actor theorizes that this ability could stem from the Sea of Possibilities in the Cracks using the power of "Divine Right." In regards to the boss for their route, Shalltear guesses it to be the being that is approaching them, a fake of the protagonist in his Dark Warrior equipment just as the stone statue that they saw.
It as they expected, well save for the additional fakes of Slimeko, Soi, miner Sebas, adventurer Nabe, workers Shizuni and Regi. Pandora's Actor tells them to think logically, as the Dark Warrior, is actually him a copy of the Supreme Being. Solution finds that even more worrisome as there is a possibility that their opponent is a fake replica of Momonga. And while it would be extremely disrespectful to put Pandora's Actor in a position that was created by the Supreme Being, it seems that they are out of options.
While Pandora's Actor would like a contest to see who is the better imitator, sadly his abilities are limited to how realistic they can be. Thus he has to admit that he is inferior in terms of level of reproduction itself. However since the Area Guardian's resurrection, he has been secretly learning a little bit of "player skills" under Momonga's guidance. With the tactics he learned he has no intention of being inferior to an imposter of his creator.
That is encouraging to Shalltear who received combat training from Pandora's Actor, promising she won't fall behind against the imposter. The fake Dark Warrior then challenges them, his voice marvels Slimeko on how it's exactly like the protagonist's voice, showing the trouble the mastermind had put in recreating the character using a lip bug. Solution reminds her junior that what they face is not the same person but a copy of Pandora's Actor playing the role of the homunculus.
Episode 4: Confluence[]
At the Takemikazuchi Shrine, a fake copy of the White Mochi King is defeated by Momonga's team. Aura announces that they have defeated all the minions except the boss. Momonga's party praise him for his aid, citing that they coasted through the route in no time thanks to him.
While pleased by the praise, Momonga reminds them to be on guard as there may be still be some ambushes. The boss in their route here, as indicated by the stone statue, had his appearance, and there were even enemies that looked like Albedo, Shalltear, Aura, and Mare from the New Year's incident, so he thought it would be a tough fight.
Contrary to appearances, there wasn't much of a response. Momonga shares with his team that it's possible that it's an imperfect fake, but judging by the situation of the other teams who contacted us--he never finishes as a Crack appears. Seeing Mare wonders if this is also a replacement for the [Gate] like in the beginning? It probably is according to Aura and so has the Death Knight take the lead first. This is permitted Momonga. There may be a meeting point for each route beyond the Crack so, assuming that's the case Momonga has everyone move forward.
They cross through the Crack, and enter before the ruined Lemegeton. Lupusregina seeing that they are the only ones present surmises that they are the first team to arrive. It seems that's the case, but Momonga wants to be sure and so contacts Sebas to see what his team's status.
Through a [Message], Momonga contacts Sebas and confirms his identity using a coded phrase of "The text in Touch's effect is Justice Has Arrived." Once they confirm that they confirm that they are both genuine, Momonga tells the butler that his team have arrived at what seems to be the meeting point of each route. From Sebas he learns that they are still occupied with the obstacles in their route. Seeing that Sebas and his team are busy, he gets off the [Message] wishing him good luck and telling him not to die.
Momonga off the call, tells his team that Sebas's team are having a tough time. There are five Demiurges with strength almost as strong as the real thing. Like Demiurge and Cocytus's team, it's not a fatal situation, but it will still take some time. As a result, of Albedo's suggestion make the teams bias on the strength made their team overpowered, allowing them to clear the route relatively easily.
A Crack appears before the team. Out from its Shalltear and her team of Solution, Slimeko, Pandora's Actor and the protagonist. To confirm that they are not imposters, Shalltear tells her their code phrase, "Peroroncino's sister's occupation is a police officer." And Momonga responds by saying "Peroroncino did something when he was 12 years old."
Pandora's Actor takes the time to greet his creator, glad he is safe. Shalltear apologizes as she only brought one Death Knight to bolster their current forces, but Momonga tells her not to worry as that's what the Death Knight is for. However, since the loss was only that great, as Momonga heard in his previous contact, he asks if their route was the same? The protagonist, reports that there were impostors of Pandora's Actor and Sebas who were Floor Guardian class, but compared to the real thing...they seem to be quite inferior.
The fakes who appeared before the other teams seemed to have roughly the same abilities as the real ones, depending on the time they were wearing the recreated clothes. And the team that Momonga and the protagonist were in was the one that managed to clear it with ease. This makes Momonga wonder if it was intentional. He is deemed correct by Enhela, as it was his intention, who appears from the doors to the Throne Room.
Enhela warmly bides the teams good day, glad that they were able to get there safely. The audacity of the man infuriates Albedo, but Momonga restrains her, and then directs his attention to the priest. Enhela had admitted his intentions quite readily. But the undead can't help but suspect there's something else going on behind the scenes.
That's an unnecessary worry to Enhela...but he did promise to "wait in the Throne Room." So offers to talk more inside, walking into the other chamber. The thought of an inferior creature acting like he owns the place serves to anger Albedo even more. The sentiment is shared by Shalltear, wishing to skewer the priest from behind.
Aura tells them such a careless setup like that is no good, but totally understands how they feel, though, as does her brother Mare. Momonga tells his followers to stay calm and be careful, as he moves forward to head into the Throne Room, which the other comply and follow him.
Once in the ruined place of power, Enhela tried to lighten the mood and start over. He is rejected by Momonga as he had enough with the preamble. He first demands that Enhela tell him about his intentions that led them to this point.
It seems to Enhela like Momonga can predict what will happen. Interested the priest asks if he can tell him more about this. The request is reasonable, though Momonga claims that its all due to a very simple deduction. That being Enhela's very purpose—-there is no doubt that it will bring him to the point where Momonga is the biggest source that will shake up the protagonist.
Momonga deduces that the reason Enhela took control of Nazarick and tried to divide them was simply to use the Great Tomb of Nazarick itself as a bargaining chip, and also because it's simply because he can't win if they all stand together. In short, Enhela's "Divine Right" is nowhere near as powerful as the real power of the Devourer, and Enhela is uncertain as to whether he can even control the 8th Floor being that exceeds his own power. Of course, Enhela has no way of calling on the real Devourer to descend upon him.
Momonga remembers the backstory of the Devourer of the Nine Worlds, an entity that devoured countless leaves on the World Tree. They already have guests that occasionally appear through wishes are entities from another world. For example, the phenomenon is a sign of someone crossing worlds. This would indicate that the Devourer of the Nine Worlds is still devouring another world somewhere, so maybe it doesn't even exist in this world all the time.
This invokes a laugh from Enhela, amused and surprised of how Momonga has figured it all out. He comments that the undead is a very cautious person according to the knowledge he glimpsed, so he was surprised to see that Momonga didn't give an overly pessimistic answer and instead came to a somewhat optimistic conclusion.
The Sorcerer King tells Enhela that if you're too cautious and your guesses turn out to be far from the truth, it's all for naught. Of course he is kidding himself, in the first place, most of the guesses were made by Albedo and the others, not him. There's no point in being optimistic, because when it comes to the Devourer, if his predictions are wrong and the main body still exists, or if Enhela has similar powers, there's no way to deal with it. This is the bare minimum of the facts.
Momonga believes that Albedo, Demiurge, and Pandora's Actor's guesses will be fine, but hopes they are right. Enhela is left impressed, claiming that it's true that his priesthood falls far short of the true power of his god, and the existence of Nazarick in its entirety is beyond his control.
His God only appeared in this world a few months ago and had a meal, so it probably won't be coming back for a while. There are countless feeding grounds for his God after all. Occasionally, He may speak to Enehla an incomprehensible "voice" of His will... But of course, he would not choose to be so blasphemous as to ask Him to surpass His priesthood and descend upon him as his Godhead for his own personal purposes.
But smirks that even if Momonga found out, it doesn't mean he's at a disadvantage. The Sorcerer King admits that is true, in the first place, the situation is probably happening because he is confident that he will not be defeated by the present teams. But if Momonga and the others just take their time, other teams will rush over, all they have to do is preserver and fight a protracted battle.
Enhela tries to interject that he might have blocked their paths in the first place. Besides, there's no guarantee the other teams will be able to beat each "boss". Momonga states that there is the Ariadne System. Momonga laughs that Enhela thought that it wouldn't be difficult to do anything fraudulent that would block their paths. Of course, he had no right to be concerned about the penalties and damage that Ariadne would inflict on Nazarick, but in this case, if he could block the way, then he would have already done so. His guess is that the activation of Ariadne will cause some damage to Enhela, who now has control over the management system.
Whether it's difficulty or not, if the goal is to prevent other teams from reaching the enemy, then it should be set to a level that will kill the enemy on first sight or kill them instantly. The reason Enhela didn't do this is due to system constraints or evidence that the resources available to the replicas are limited. Plus it looks like the reason why no team was sent to the 8th Floor, where it would be impossible to control anything other than a replica, is probably because it is difficult to control such a powerful being there.
Similarly, the reason why the 8th Floor creatures haven't appeared as replicas may be due to some kind of constraint. Even so there's no guarantee that Victim isn't being used to hold up other teams right now. His brilliant take down leaves Enhela in awe of you, praising the undead must be a wise man to have someone like the protagonist swearing allegiance to him.
Albedo chuckles at Enhela, wondering why the priest is so surprised by something as small as this, boasting that what Momonga just said is nowhere near the level of his intelligence, even the Floor Guardians could have come up with it. Obviously to Momonga that is not true, as he is just repeating most of what Albedo and the others said.
Enhela recognizes that Momonga is indeed beyond unfathomable, he has no choice but to challenge him and his allies to a short-term battle. A brilliant while appears and Enhela's body and clothes are now sparkling with energy. Lupusregina seeing realizes that it's similar to the light that runs through their bodies when they fight wearing adaptive equipment.
Solution does not think it is the same, since that person is more deeply involved in the root of the Crack phenomenon. Instead Solution believes that the adaptive equipment is more similar to his equipment. Tired of the analysis Shalltear wants to fight. Pandora's Actor warns everyone that their opponent seems ready for battle.
A series of combined attacks are launched by Shalltear, Mare and Aura. Their attacks hit Enhela but he is unaffected and proceeds to cast a magic at the three. Said magic attack is intercepted by Albedo using 3F, but she takes damage, but is healed by Lupusregina.
Momonga standing with Pandora's Actor muses that it's as he thought, none of the attributes are particularly effective. There is no attribute that is completely resistant, but instead, Enhela appears to have a certain degree of resistance to each attribute. Pandora's Actor thinks perhaps Enhela's powers operate under laws vastly different from those they know. Momonga is obliged to agree as neither Enhela's physical strength nor mana power have been significantly reduced yet. Even before Enhela showed not even the slightest resistance, the gap in ability is enormous. It's not going to be that easy and while it's true that Enhela is nowhere near the Devourer of the Nine Worlds, he's still a very troublesome raid boss and finds it a pity [Instant Death] won't work.
Momonga plans to observe for a while longer, and tells Pandora's Actor that as soon as he finds an effective strategy, to please take the most suitable form and attack. The Area Guardian complies with the order, but warns his creator if the battle continues as they are, they risk defeat.
The undead is aware of this, as Albedo and the others will probably run out of stamina and magic first. Right now they're being saved by magic scrolls and such, but there's a limit. But...there's no choice but to do it. Momonga then tells the protagonist to stay where he is, as Enhela may take some kind of strong measures, but he will not hand him over to the priest. Solution, the Death Knights and Slimeko are ordered to protect the homunculus.
The protagonist, while watching the battle, laments that if only he could somehow wield the Priesthood...but worries if awakening that power would be an opportunity to betray his Master, thinking that's what Enhela is aiming for him to do. There's something bothering the protagonist, as if he feels there's something slightly off about Enhela's behavior. Enhela then directly speaks to the protagonist, stating that was a little worried, but after actually fighting he was convinced. But declares that this match..is his win!
Episode 5: Solitude[]
Enhela describes his origin, just suddenly appearing in the New World one day. At the moment of his existence he asked one question, "why am I here," before answering a summons by the Pontifex Maximus and feels tired due to the work he commits.
Strangely, even though Enhela was definitely born on that day and at that moment, he also had specific memories of being born and raised in the Slane Theocracy, and up until he took up the position of Deputy Pontifex Maximus. However for the truth of the matter was different. To be dismissed as a false memory, it is too human, too detailed, full of joy, anger, sorrow, happiness, twists and turns, or perhaps it is a memory of someone who could have lived in some other world, made concrete through the "Sea of Possibilities."
Either way, the time Enhela spent in the world unconsciously as a normal "human" was very short—as one day he finds a Crack in a hall to his surprise. Whilst observing the phenomena, question arises from Enhela on who master is of these phenomena which has appeared all over the world. to Enhela it is almost certain that he has a close connection to the mysterious being who has eroded much of the military might of the Theocracy, which was once thought to be absolute.
Now, deep inside the years, there was something in Enhela stirring as he was before the Crack. Before Enhela knew it, he had stepped into its depths to a place from which he had been told no one or anything had returned, and there, as if by ivine revelation, he realized who he was. Enhela spoke of this to no one, recalling the time when he with the 1st Seat ever maintaining a false smile.
Once Enhela realized who he was, and felt that he was a great being... a being who would connect this land with the "Sea of Possibilities", surpassing even the Six Great Gods, and be the one to guide and save humanity, and was given the impetus to emerge from this.
It was as if he was created, a special being. He felt joy at being an angel of a revered God. But he also felt loneliness.
Perhaps it was because of the memories of the twenty-odd years Enhela spent growing up in the Theocracy, working hand in hand with the people of the Theocracy, striving to improve myself as a God-kin in order to save humanity.
Although he could feel pity and mercy towards the people of the Theocracy, it was no longer possible for him to feel any bond or camaraderie with them. It may seem arrogant, but that was Enhela’s true feelings. And as a result, he felt a one-sided loneliness. It may seem ridiculous, but Enhela soon came to a state of resignation and accepted the loneliness that would continue for the rest of his life.
But that changed during his excursions into the Chaos Zone. Whilst in a death-like forest, Enhela witnesses the protagonist scouting in the eldritch realm. This catches Enhela by surprise, at first thinking perhaps the Sorcerer Kingdom's technology has already reached that level to make explorations into the Chaos Zone...but Enhela's innately has a strange and yet familiar feeling. Enhela did not question what he felt, believing it was his God's will that brought Enhela to that exact place at that moment. He then resolved to will follow that will and lead and save humanity, determined to fulfill the meaning of his existence. At that moment on that day, another purpose was added to that one and only purpose. That being to fill his solitude, by acquiring a friend.
Back in the present, Throne Room, Albedo, Aura and Shalltear are blown back by Enhela. They are followed by Momonga and Pandora's Actor. The members of Nazarick lay defeated with a gloating Enhela standing over them. Slimeko standing at the sidelines with the others is alarmed by how easily Enhela is beating her comrades, yet feels helpless at not being able to do anything.
Solution comes, pushing her back, reminding the slime of her role. If she, no, they, stand up to Enhela in vain, they will end up being reduced to ashes. Lupusregina sympathizes of how Slimeko feels. Having run out of mana the maid is unable to heal and is now useless in this fight. Solution seeing that she will have to push harder, plans to use herself as a shield to carry out Momonga's order to protect the protagonist even if she risks turning into ashes.
This commitment though is not out of friendship to the protagonist, as Solution merely states that she is following the will of her God. It is her duty to obediently protect him no matter what happens. With no one left to oppose him, Enhela begins to approach the remaining forces of Nazarick.
Enhela finds the maid's conversation to be pretty rude, as he repeatedly told everyone that his goal was to make the protagonist his ally, not to harm him, but it seems he doesn't trust me. That is only natural to Solution, as no one is foolish enough to trust the words of their enemy without evidence. But anyway, she personally finds him very suspicious, and has for a long time.
Enhela refers the Pleiades as Soi, but corrects himself as according to the "Master Source" he learns her real name is Solution Epsilon. That being said the priest realizes that this the first time he has faced her in battle like this. Hearing her call out her real name, causes Solution to see that the priest is able to read the characters in the Master Source, or even understand them without actually reading them which she finds to be useful information.
It was a slip of the tongue according Enhela, commenting how wary his attackers were of that possibility too, but decides that enough time has been bought by her. He proceeds to thank Solution for her generosity...stating that while it may sound strange, he wants her to be the first victim so that he can change the protagonist's mind.
It goes without saying to Enhela that he has to make that request. If the protagonist doesn't like it, he suggests awakening to the priesthood. The protagonist is about to answer, but Momonga managing to get back up orders him to stop talking.
The protagonist conflicted, understands if he were to awaken to the Divine Right and at the same time awaken to faith in the Devourer of the Nine Worlds, there would be no guarantee of Nazarick's safety, no matter what Enhela says. But even so, in exchange for making demands on him who is worthless, as oppose to Solution who was created by Herohero.
Solution gives the protagonist some words of comfort, telling its fine. While things in reality may not have been the same, working with him, who was also akin to creation of Herohero, was just as important to her as working with my sisters. As she finishes says this, Solution is struck down by Enhela to the horror of Lupusregina and Slimeko.
Enhela taking in this death as matter of fact, tells the protagonist he will not stop and will take a next victim. He asks if this has change his mind, getting seriously tired of the homunculus in refusal to comply with his demands, claiming that he has no intention of causing any more harm to Nazarick if he does obey.
The protagonist is at a loss for words, still processing Solution's death. That was a bit unexpected to Enhela. But even if it didn't go exactly as planned, the priest was hoping that the protagonist would make the rational decision to take a gamble and believe his words rather than let their comrades be killed. After all, to the ma priest, the words of the "Lord" are more important to the protagonist than he could ever imagine, and more than anything, there is not enough time to kill all of the protagonist's associates. The members of Nazarick fought more cunningly than expected, and it was painful that they held out longer than expected. The other teams will arrive soon, as Enhela suspects Momonga must passed news about his teams' statues through a [Message].
It would be nice if Enhela had the resources to disrupt the [Message], but understand he is running out of time and soon it would be bad for the other teams to join them. He considers eliminating Momonga and his group first, but--notices that the other Floor Guardians have remained silent, causing Enhela to suspect that Momonga and his allies are hiding some kind of trump card and waiting for an opportunity to use it on him. Thus, he can't attack them carelessly.
Even so Enhela supposes it cannot be helped, but finds it disappointing as he really didn't want to use this tactic on a potential ally, but it looks like he has no choice. The priest then casts magic, and immediately takes effect by causing the protagonist's body to levitate. While it's a kind of a drastic measure, Enhela can see from the protagonist's level of effort that he still can't really feel the need for the priesthood, so he's going to attack him with an intent to kill.
Lupusregina is stunned by this plan, calling out that if Enhela does something like that, and the protagonist dies, then his goal will be for naught. Despite her warnings, Enhela has confidence that this will awaken the protagonist to the priesthood. This turns out to actually be a lie, as even the mad priest is not sure. The protagonist might kill his comrades, which would be fine as they can be revived later with the priesthood. So Enhela plans to just collect the corpses and escape with the protagonist and figure things from there.
Momonga curses as while he expected some strong measures, he never thought things would turn out like this which such a disadvantage. He sees that Enhela has separated him from the protagonist who is being pulled away, keeping them within his range and paying close attention. He needs to create an opening for the protagonist and somehow give him orders. Albedo then comes up with an idea of using [Transposition]. Enhela focused on the protagonist hopes what he will do will wake him up just as Slimeko calls out to the former, and then a splatter of viscera.
Episode 6: Whose Seat is It?[]
The victim this time is Slimeko who falls to the ground to the protagonist's horror. The girl reverts to her natural form as a Redeem Slime. Enhela seeing this is bemused that the slime had sacrificed herself to protect the protagonist when Enhela levitated him away. The priest thought he would not face any opposition when he was about to strike the protagonist, since he captive was aways from the ground. However looks like he was wrong this time.
From the knowledge he has access to, Slimeko is a slime that has the ability to protect a specific target, just once, in exchange for its life. From the game information it's like a saint who once bore the sins of humanity on his own, received divine punishment, and brought salvation in exchange for his life. And while Enhela does not know the saint mentioned, he figures the character was a pagan. Anyways Redeem Slime is where Slimeko race gets its name.
Enhela had mistakenly thought that Slimeko was a lower-level version of the Death Knight, who was suitable for being a shield, since it could withstand any attack just before running out of strength. He never thought it would be possible to display this ability even when she was in no position to directly protect the target. It seems his superficial knowledge and lack of real-world experience backfired. But chalks it up as just a mistake that he can easily recover from.
Slimeko dying and seeing that she does not have much time, uses [Message] to communicate directly with the protagonist. Through the [Message] the slime admits that she doesn't understand the difficult things. But...the protagonist, Momonga, the creator...his feelings towards Nazarick...are not a piece of fiction. She seen them up close and refuses to believe that something as simple as the priesthood can shake it that bond.
Right now, it seems that the protagonist thinks of himself as an inferior being to her. So she has no intention of handing being the lowliest being role to him. Before she vanishes, she states it was an honor. The protagonist is devasted by her death. Even Momonga feels a sense of loss. Slimeko who was just a useful summon from the beginning because of her abilities, mimicry, and communication skills. In a way, she existed for this purpose, but...through that time it was more than enough for him to grow attached to her.
The death of the slime though is commented by Enhela to have derailed his plan a bit, but resolves to just resume his attack on the protagonist. Making light of her sacrifice, Enhela tells the protagonist to allow him to ask him once more on whether or not will he join him. His response is to shut up, which Enhela finds disappointing. However thanks to Slimeko, the protagonist now understands the source of the strange feeling inside him.
Enhela sensing something odd, demands what is happening, only for the protagonist to say this is about another goal the priest was hiding. At first glance, it seemed like Enhela was carefully forcing him to use his "Divine Right", and it seemed unnatural. If the priest really wanted the protagonist to use it without question, he would have tried to destroy the whole of Nazarick from the start, or---there is a high possibility that the protagonist could launch a fatal attack on him right here and now. It may be difficult to do so when Enhela's opponent is him, but the priest did not even show any signs of trying to do so. His true aim was to have Momonga cut the protagonist down right in front of him. The priest thought that would make the protagonist's loyalty waver to the Devourer of the Nine Worlds. So why should the protagonist's waver in his loyalty? It's simple, the priest in truth has no confidence whatsoever in his assertion that the protagonist would awaken to faith in the Devourer of the Nine Worlds if he were to awaken to the "Divine Right."
In other words, contrary to Enhela's claims, there is actually a good chance that the protagonist, having awakened to the priesthood, will be able to maintain his loyalty to God, Momonga. It is precisely because Enhela himself fears that possibility that he needed to use a trick to make it even a little easier for the protagonist to awaken to faith in the Devourer of the Nine Worlds.
The protagonist tells a silent Enhela that his loyalty is not as shallow as Enhela's, using the faith the priest once had in the Six Great Gods as a "human born in Slave Theocracy" as an example which remains unwavering even after he awaken to the priesthood. Fearing such a possibility, Enhela hoped that Momonga would choose to discard and kill him before he could awaken. The priest thought that if the protagonist's loyalty was resolved, it would be easier for him to awaken to faith in Devourer of the Nine Worlds. But Momonga did not abandon the protagonist, even if the latter desired it for the sake of his master.
In regards to the attack on the protagonist earlier, contrary to what Enhela said, he actually had a means of resuscitation, and he didn't care if the homunculus was dead, he just wanted to secure his body. From what the protagonist thinks, Enhela wanted to separate him from his friends people.
This matters not to Enhela, and as the protagonist pointed out, while the priest certainly doesn't have absolute confidence in his plan, however, it is also true that there is a precedent for this, as he became aware of who he was upon awakening and awakened to faith in his God.
The protagonist though underlines that Enhela awakened to the faith when he realized who he was, while he, who may not wield the "Divine Right", still sees the Devourer as nothing but an enemy even after realizing who he is. There is already a big discrepancy to call this a precedent.
Enhela is taken aback by this but nevertheless tells that the protagonist is so sure, then he should try blocking this attack with the "Divine Right". Since the protagonist cherishes the orders of Momonga, and neither is sure about either possibility, based only on the protagonist's speculation, will the Momonga really give him permission. To answer that Momonga shouts that he does not care and tells the protagonist to do what he thinks is right.
That being said, the protagonist prepares himself as Enhela resumes casting his magical attack on the homunculus. As he waits for the inevitable blow, the protagonist reflects on his life, musing that he has no value. The fact that, Herohero, Nishikienrai, and Beast King Mekongawa were unable to actually create him is proof of that. But even though they know that, Solution, Slimeko, Momonga, and everyone else still worry about him and accept him.
Before he was born, he had no value. But after he "came into being" here, the fact that he worked for the Supreme Being, for Nazarick, and the results he achieved, were not worthless. The Supreme Being told him, "Do as [he] believes." So he will believe in Slimeko, who believed that he was not worthless.
Even if his beginning is fiction, even if it is a lie. Right now, in this moment, in his heart, he truly believes in the truth of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. The protagonist having accepted his nature, screams out as he is engulfed in white light.
After it is over, Enhela stunned collapses to the ground, in disbelief on what happened. The protagonist standing tells him that its Nazarick's win. As expected, the protagonist's awakening to the priesthood was merely a matter of his being, and his loyalty to Momonga was unwavering.
The priest still refuses to accept the outcome, as the homunculus could not have know that the awakening would have worked. And still cannot understand why Momonga gave the protagonist permission to undergo awakening even though there was a risk the protagonist might awaken to faith in the Devourer. Momonga simply says that if Enhela who still had control over Nazarick, were to escape with the protagonist in his custody, the risk of an attack by you and Arucha, who has awakened to faith, would remain.
Unfortunately, Momonga admits he is a coward, as he is not bold enough to hand over their greatest weapon, the "information" they've been hiding and the "time" to prepare based on that information, to the enemy, and then let them escape. Besides, Albedo and the others believed in the possibility that the protagonist might have caught onto this plan. They hadn't told the protagonist so that he wouldn't act hastily, though the choice to bet on the possibility that loyalty would not fade was originally a last resort when Enhela had chosen a strong approach. More than anything, Momonga, in his truest sense, believed in the protagonist and wanted to take a gamble on the strength of the homunculus's feelings for Nazarick. Slimeko had witnessed the protagonist and his loyalty up close, and this is Momonga's seal of approval. Even if he is a coward, as a leader, he should at least have the courage to believe in the loyalty of his subordinates.

The protagonist states that Slimeko was summoned by the great Supreme Being, a being far more noble than he was, who recognized and believed in him. So he should believe in his own loyalty, which he has never doubted until the end.
Enhela is speechless by this declaration. The other members in Momonga's team soon begin to rise to their feet. Albedo snidely comments that Enhela is now not alone who can wield the "Divine Right." Now the situation has turned, and all the factors that could have caused them to lose have disappeared. Soon after, Demiurge and his team arrived, and his followed by Sebas and Cocytus's team.
Yuri is the first to notice Solution's corpse, but rather than feel sadness, the maid feels pride in her sister having completed her mission. Narberal finds that Slimeko is nowhere to be seen, but deduces that the slime fulfilled her role as planned. At first, Narberal had doubts about whether the slime could really become a shield, not knowing about that ability she had.
Momonga then tells Enhela that the current guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, is made up of elite members of which they are proud of. Since the priest will soon die, Momonga asks if is there anything he would like to say before his final moments?
His answer from the priest is not to get ahead of himself. Enhela then begins chanting with his book, creating a wave of Crack energy. The room drastically alters itself almost like a scene in the Chaos Zone. Laughing aloud Enhela tells then that it's not their victory yet.
Demiurge observing the environmental change, suspect that this must be the same power that changed the inside of Nazarick. The Crack inside Nazarick is currently under his control, and thinks that this power cannot be imitated even by the protagonist.
Aura warns that the area may have changed to give Enhela some beneficial effects. The NPCs steel themselves to fight Enhela and execute, waiting for the order from Momonga.
Momonga considers just trampling Enhela, it would be better to trample on him than to be timid now. So he gives his servants all this command once again. Kill the foolish intruder, and show Nazarick's power, claiming he would even sacrifice his own life to watch Enhela's death throes this time. That this moment they use this as a substitute for a Mass for the Dead.
Everyone then descends on Enhela with retribution. Throughout the fight, it's one-sided, as the human is brutally hit by various attacks from the NPCs. After knocking him around, he collapses on the floor, and his influence over the environment ends, reverting him and the Throne Room back to normal.
Enhela struggling to his feet, makes one last appeal to his brother, the protagonist. Stating that he too can feel loneliness...and no matter how loyal he are...he will always be different from everyone around him because he is by nature an alien existence. He still demands why the protagonist refuses him, especially the hand of someone who can fill the loneliness of himself...a fellow existence.
This is where the protagonist tells his brother that he is sorely misunderstanding something. The protagonist's loyalty is different from Enhela's faith in the Six Great Gods that he has never met and doesn't even remember meeting. Even though the protagonist is a fake, he retains the memories of the three beings who created him, and has the honor of feeling Momonga's power, wisdom, and mercy directly in reality.
While Enhela's faith is in a strange god, that demands the price of salvation, and his deep respect and loyalty to the one before him and his fellow creation, that makes Enhela want to give everything to him, without any expectation of reward.
He understands Enhela has been misled so much, but they can't be the same, as the priest couldn't maintain his self-esteem or bear the loneliness unless he realized he was an outsider and shifted his faith to something greater than what everyone around him worshiped.
The protagonist adds that it was a clear assumption on Enhela's part to think that his mere presence would fill his loneliness, which seems to be a fatal misunderstanding. In fact, the protagonist tells his brother it was just a delusion of an inferior human that they could ever be "comrades" before stabbing him in the chest, killing the priest who then shatters into pieces of shards of Chaos Stones. Mare upon examining it wonders if the item drop is useless given its not normally a lump.
Shalltear wonders if the priest is actually dead, but Albedo tells her to be on the safe side they should be on their guard. Suddenly a voice rings out: "How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world." Everyone assumes this to be the voice of the Devourer of the Nine Worlds. Though nothing appears despite the announcement. Momonga judges that things should be fine, given that line they heard is the same one he heads in the same when the Devourer was defeated. Immediately afterwards, the Great Tomb of Nazarick was engulfed in a flash of light.
Episode 7: Results[]
One month later...E-Rantel appears to have been restored to its peaceful state. For the protagonist, he arrives at the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute, thanking Nfirea Bareare, Sophie Noia and Fluder Paradyne for their hard work.
Nfirea and Sophie report that their progress is going well, stating that if it's all about the numbers, it'll take a while to decontaminate everyone who's been detained. Sophie confesses that she didn't think they'd actually be able to bring back almost all the contaminated residents, though. But comments on that day, the fresh corpses of those who died horrible deaths...there were clearly more contaminated residents than there were ingredients for the cure. So she wonders where on earth did those fresh corpses brought in here every day come from.
This earns her silence from the protagonist, but Sophie smiles and laugh, telling the adventurer to not take her question so serious, as she doesn't intend to pry. That being said the researcher tells the protagonist she hasn't told anyone about that guy from Theocracy, Enhela, and what happened from there, so he doesn't have to worry. But warns that other people may eventually find out by now.
Fluder though is more concerned about what was promised that would be given to him today. The homunculus did not forget the wizard's reward, as he gives him a book that will meet his needs. As usual, the protagonist tells Fluder he can only lend out books, but this time, he can decipher it with an item...or try reading it for himself. Fluder excited accepts the book, declaring that combined with the descriptions in the book from the other day, it will all make sense.
Gifts are not just given to Fluder, the protagonist brought the other two some souvenirs. One is slime that is unique to the Sorcerer Kingdom, and research materials on Chaos Beasts in the Sorcerer Kingdom. Both gifts are accepted by the researches in gratitude, and the protagonist hopes for their continued support. However before he leaves, Nfirea mentions something important happening today.
The scene then shifts to Zanac's office in E-Rantel, with the royal apologizing to the protagonist for suddenly calling him as he needs to ask for some advice. The protagonist takes no offence as he is happy to help Zanac, referring him as HIs Majesty.
Zanac cares little for the honorific, as he wishes him to stop calling him that. Truth be told, it's just too much to bear. In the midst of the previous chaos a month ago, King Ramposa III, who had survived from the depths of the Northern Cave had breathed his last breath. Zanac found the situation of his ascension to be so bothersome, and once again apologizes for his inappropriate complaints.
The protagonist does not mind, as if the new king doesn't spit it out a little, then Zanac's health will be adversely affected. The protagonist then asks if Marquis Raeven will be joining them. Zanac though tells the protagonist that since Raeven's territory is in messy state as his is family...he will not be in a position to be relied upon anytime soon, leaving the protagonist the only one he can turn to. This time the king would like to address the protagonist's suggestion of having the Re-Estize Kingdom in becoming a vassal state of the Sorcerer Kingdom. In this situation, Zanac believe it is the best choice. Once that is done, Zanac realizes that something special is on today.
Much later, the protagonist attends a meeting headed by Gazef Stronoff with all the representatives of the military forces in E-Rantel, composed of Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra, Nigun Grid Luin, Ian Als Heim, Nimble Arc Dale Anoch and Leinas Rockbruise. Gazef in a formal uniform addresses his peers with the last item for the day, being the security and foreign expeditions for each District will be proceeding as they decided.
Since none in the room have any more items on the agenda, Gazef ends the meeting, thanking the representatives for their support. At Gazef's exit from the room, Nigun remarks how the Warrior Captain has yet to return to his normal condition. To him it is understandable given what he has been through. The adventurer Lakyus agrees, bringing up that Gazef was still coming to terms with the death of the previous king, who he really cares about. However, that emotional burden is just one of many things that must be on Gazef mind, as according to Ian, Gazef is now one of humanity's greatest warriors. That alone could make their colleague feel the weight and fatigue of such responsibility.
However, Leinas thinks that things are not so bleak, as thanks to the Sorcerer Kingdom, the training of those who have been strengthened through the contamination and cured is progressing smoothly. Soon, the burden on them as the fighting force should be lightened somewhat, regardless of the stress. Regardless, Nimble believes that the new reinforcements should be used for foreign campaigns. Apart from E-Rantel, the Kingdom and other countries are still in a miserable state. Even within the Empire, the number of casualties continues to rise, despite the Emperor's shrewd efforts. While he has heard that there are countless examples of villages that were spared the direct damage of the miasma and being wiped out overnight, it's difficult to even grasp the exact number of deaths.
Nigun is silent on this, as he notes to himself that it's a similar situation in the Slane Theocracy. Not only that the Deputy Pontifex Maximus is missing and there have been victims among the Cardinals as well. It won't be long before his nation has no choice but to rely on the Sorcerer Kingdom, no matter what. The thought does not frighten Nigun, as to him it might be better to do that than to stick to their doctrine and lose sight of our duty to save humanity.
The protagonist adds that the damage within the Sorcerer Kingdom itself seems to continue to be great. But he believes that the only way to overcome this predicament is for the four nations to truly unite with E-Rantel at the center. Lakyus hearing his words agrees, stating that the adventurers are also willing to lend him their support. At this is the critical moment...the adamantite adventurer tells her peers that they should do their best which is met in accord with smiles and calls for true unity. After which the impromptu unofficial meeting ends, with Lakyus reminding the protagonist that a rare day is happening concerning the adventurers.
Later at the fourth wall of the city, in the agricultural zone, Clementine reports to the protagonist that the children in the city are starting to smile again. According to what she heard from Tsuare, Nemu has also become a little brighter than before mostly thanks to Nfirea's survival. The same goes for Ninya, thanks to being able to rescue her friends.
The news is the best to the protagonist, and comments he plans to check on them when he has time. He then asks if the saint needs any supplies or anything for the children under her care who are receiving an education from the Sorcerer Kingdom. After all, it is an important for the next generation as they will carry the future of humanity, so he would like to provide them with as many things as possible.
From food to clothing to temporary shelter, Clementine states that they already have enough, but, if possible, if the protagonist has any rain gear to please provide it to them. It seems that its necessary as the temporary housing will leak, but the cold rain is harmful to the bodies of children and the elderly. The homunculus makes a note of this for rain gear, recalling that Renner must have been arranging the supplies, as it was mentioned by Climb when the homunculus me with him.
Clementine takes the chance to mention that she finds meeting the protagonist alone a bit unusual, given he is always accompanied by his two companions. The saint asks if the duo are alright. Her query though is answered when Soi and Surako appear having been busy with errands and want to head back to the inn seeing the protagonist has been working so hard. Seeing that she had nothing to worry about, and that the protagonist is busy, the saint promises to write a detail report for him later, so he can rest at the inn.
Before leaving, the saint asks Surako to take care of him, as it would be a crisis for the city if anything would were to happen to him. The girl promises to do so, earning her a compliment of being such a great partner by the saint to which the protagonist agrees. Thus, the protagonist's missions in E-Rantel continue day by day.
At nightfall, the protagonist and his team returns to the Great Tomb of Nazarick, which has been safely recaptured from Enlera's control. The internal structure, which had been altered, has also returned to its original state. A meeting is held at the Round Table Room, where Momonga declares that it's safe to say that the puppetization of the three nations has been accomplished and commends those in the room for a great job.
Everything is in the hands of the Supreme Being as believed by Demiurge, as the plan is proceeding so smoothly that one wonders if Momonga even foresaw Enlera's attack. He believes that the day when they can dedicate the world itself to him is not far off yet. Momonga tells Demiurge does not overestimate him, as it was a completely unexpected situation. As for world domination, well...the defense of Nazarick is the top priority so they should take care not to be too greedy which Demiurge appreciate the advice.
In relation to the defense of Nazarick Albedo reports that they are continuing their investigation into the Devourer of the Nine Worlds with the protagonist's cooperation. The safety of the surrounding area has been largely secured, so they will be forming a larger, dedicated research team and continuing to plan expeditions outside the surrounding area.
Therefore, she would like to ask Momonga to entrust the command of this unit to her. Momonga does not have any objections, and is sure she can handle it given her abilities, but asks if it really okay for her to take on more work? To that Albedo insists that she is fine with it.
Aura chimes that if it's an external investigation, wouldn't it be better for someone like her or Mare to go directly there when necessary? Mare is eager to prove himself, as is Shalltear. Although Albedo reminds them of the need to scrutinize and analyze the survey results, which the three other Floor Guardians is out of their expertise.
Furthermore, Albedo believes Demiurge is also suited to the job, but with external machinations becoming more active now, she still has more time on her hands. Demiurge won't deny the claim, but still, if Momonga gives him an order, he won't hesitate to take on an even more honorable role.
Momonga politely declines this as his burden is certainly greater than Albedo's, including being in charge of security, external operations, and managing the various power circles. Albedo's domestic administrative burden has also been lightened thanks to having a direct subordinate named Renner.
In the end, the head of the investigation force will be Albedo. And Momonga will assign Pandora's Actor as her second-in-command. And also select and prepare an appropriate fighting force for the team.
Demiurge has no objection to his decision and Albedo thanks him for listening. One more item Momonga wants to go over, is if there is any new information revealed about the Devourer of the Nine Worlds at this stage? The protagonist reports that he does not, though he had a vague feeling that he recognizes the contents of that "voice," so he has been rummaging through literature in the library in his free time...but it's in an unfamiliar language, so he hasn't found it yet.
Momonga is surprised that the protagonist recalls such memories, before drifting to the lines said by the Devourer feeling that there was some source material somewhere. The protagonist feels he will eventually find the lore which is fine by the Overlord so long as it's within his limits.
Cocytus then asks if the Devourer exist, then what are the "remnants"? To avoid confusion, Momonga replies to everyone that this is something Cocytus and the others hadn't shared yet. It regards "the mysterious remains they discovered in the Holy Kingdom, and the monster specimen that the protagonist encountered in the Northern Cave.
Momonga shared with him and the others on what the protagonist, whose knowledge has increased since awakening to the "Divine Right", pointed out, that both of these things seem to be related to the Devourer of the Nine Worlds. According to the protagonist, he personally checked the things that had been retrieved. He investigated them in detail, comparing them with the images that occasionally flowed in through the "Divine Right", presumably from the Devourer itself----and has come to the conclusion that it seems safe to assume that those are the empty shells of the entity.
Sebas asks the homunculus to clarify, as when he refers as an empty shell, it indicates that the Devourer of the Nine Worlds is a creature that sheds its skin? The protagonist though is not sure whether it fits the general definition of a living organism, but its characteristics are correct. Shalltear though asks if it was just an ordinary shell, then it probably wouldn't have extended tentacles and attacked. Aura agrees, in reference to a creature able to shed, does it that mean the Devourer of the Nine Worlds is a snake or insect?
Perhaps it is due to the thing's own perspective, but the images that flow in the protagonist's mind, don't make it clear what the thing actually looks like...but judging from the way its field of vision, moves and the shape of its exoskeleton, it appears to resemble a butterfly or moth larva. To Aura hearing this, it does make sense that it's the larva's shell. Though she asks if the entity could be recognized by its appearance from the shell, then surely Momonga should have been able to remember the Devourer of the Nine Worlds?
The Devourer of the Nine Worlds, that Momonga knew, looked nothing like what the shells are. But it's possible that it was a different being, but if not, the one Momonga knew may have been an "adult". Given the story of the entity eating the "leaves" of the World Tree, it seems possible that the motif is a larvae of butterflies or moths. There may be some story or background information that was cut out at the time of implementation but... Momonga is sure the developers would have a lot of them. And while he has never actually bred an insect like that in real life, he thinks they feed on leaves, like lip bugs.
This information is also good news, as if the protagonist's impression is correct, and the enemy is still an immature juvenile. Albedo understand the significance as the Devourer has not yet reached a level of strength that even Momonga fears. In addition to identifying the enemy's weaknesses, the purpose of forming a survey team is to explore ways to attack the enemy's location. And considering the power of the priesthood wielded by Enhela and the protagonist, which is only a fraction of the Devourer's power, the entity is still probably just as dangerous, although it is still better than an adult.
Mare worries if they launch an attack, won't that lead to Nazarick becoming a target again. There is a risk, as admitted by Albedo and concern that this could backfire. So they need to gather as much information as possible and then be extremely cautious when deciding whether to go ahead with the plan. However--from what Demiurge surmises from the protagonist, the Devourer of the Nine Worlds does not have any real intelligence, so it is unlikely that it will get angry at their attacks, seek out the culprit, and plot retaliation. At least not while it is still young.
But the protagonist thinks that may change when reaching adulthood, and driven by a desire to devour the boundaries between worlds, the worlds themselves, and sometimes even the energy sources that reside within the worlds themselves...but it do not appear to have any intelligence or emotion. From what he could observe, the way the Devourer eats can be described as "sloppy." It seems to be drawn to areas with a large number of prey, but it doesn't eat every single one, and it seems to be somewhat capricious. He still doesn't understand why the prey it must have be eaten alive and well on the other side of the Crack. Maybe the "Sea of Ppossibilities" itself is its stomach, and it will be digested over time.
Frankly the impression the entity gives is more like a storm-like disaster than a living thing. However, there is also the matter of the "Cracks" mentioned in question. If that is the character's own voice, then it may be possible that the Devourer has intelligence hidden within it, or that this intelligence may be awakened by meeting certain conditions through its growth.
Momonga internally ponders the Devourer. To him it is hard to say whether it is intelligent or not. As a game boss, it was just following the program and AI, including its lines. But Momonga supposes that this was true for the NPCs, but now they act with their own will, so maybe it is experiencing the same situation. And while he knows it's a little late, but it seems like the YGGDRASIL boss might be the real deal...and worries if all the Worl Enemies other than the Devourer of the Nine Worlds might have materialized. In that case, it would be worth it unless "the others" besides himself came here.
Aura speaking out states that if the Devourer has no intelligence, then he wouldn't have used the protagonist, so in that sense, she is grateful. The protagonist is thankful, however, although he can be of help to them now with the priesthood and the information he can obtain through it, he would ask that they please take action without hesitation if the time comes.
Not to mention, while Enhela was a God-kin while the protagonist is a level 1 homunculus, even though their powers are the same, the latter's is inferior to priest in terms of output. Above all, the protagonist states that his body is extremely fragile to begin with. Even if he could be strengthened to a certain extent through the "Divine Right", he believes that for Momonga and the other Guardians, it will not be that difficult to deal with his defensive power.
Momonga finds it may be inauspicious, but...since it is part of the protagonist's sincere loyalty? they will be prepared at least. He then direct his attention the protagonist's work, commenting it is going well. Later he directs his attention to Solution asking if there are any problem with her health. The Pleiades maids expresses her gratitude for being brought back to life, stating that she is doing fine. Momonga is happy to hear so, however, after the management system was stolen, he has some concerns if there's an unidentified glitch in the revival system, so asks her to be on guard for any abnormal behavior.
Lastly he turns to the doppelganger who has assumed Slimeko's form. While the protagonist acquired some self-defense abilities, the doppelganger, Slmeko-Doppel, is most suited for the role, due to being a body double for Slimeko before than a newly summoned Redeem Slime. As it turns out, the newly summoned Redeem Slime has no memory of having worked with the protagonist and the others as a "indifferent" so it would be far worse than acting as a double. The protagonist appears rather indifferent by the acknowledgement of the doppelganger, which the latter notices, wondering if she has offended him. Momonga tells the doppelganger it's nothing, and that he looks forward to working with her.
Momonga reflects on how his life has become, at one point he wondered what was going to happen...but when he woke up and was transported to the New World, Nazarick had collapsed, and then he met the protagonist. After sending the protagonist and the others off, everyone else was revived and Nazarick was slowly restored...and finally, the Great Tomb of Nazarick was better than it was before it collapsed. It's still a situation where they can't let their guard down, and Momonga thinks Herohero and his friends who worked on the dungeon, and the important NPCs they left behind, including the protagonist, are his responsibility.
Momonga then ends the meeting, closing it that they will be finalizing the puppetization of the three nations, investigate further afield and continuing to strengthen and manage Nazarick. If they want to prepare for the Devourer of the Nine Worlds, then no matter how much power and information they accumulate, it can't be said to be excessive, and so he thinks everyone will become increasingly busy from now on. But declares that they will definitely protect the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
Elsewhere at a normal nondescript dwelling, a door slams open, as a winged haired girls calls that she is back. In response others in the dwelling respond to the new arrival: A pig tailed girl, a girl with a spear, a girl with a handbook, etc. The pig tailed girl asks if something good happen. The spear wielder comments that Agg's eyes are sparkling more than usual and that she is out of breath. Agg having caught her breath, tells them she has news.
However the girl holding a book, deduces that the news is probably Enhela meeting demise, a man who she was always wary of. This brings about astonishment from the other women.
Agg admits while she did not witness the priest's demise, he senses his presence vanishing, but thinks it's likely that those people defeated him. The fact though remains that the unknown threat is gone. Agg then announces her decision to contact the great guild and asks for the opinions of those within the room.
The pig tailed girl wonders if they will soon be friends. While the spear girl tells Agg to do as she like. The girl with the book states that the pair look to approve the motion. Attention then shifts to two other people in the room, a wheelchair bound woman and a sleeping girl.
The one in the wheelchair states that there is no need to ask her for her opinion. For her, the more data she has, the better. And most importantly, turning the unknown into the known is an exciting thing. The other girl, having woken up, due to the noise, thumps away out. However it seems like she will agree to the plan of their leader.
Agg, thanks everyone for their support. Since she just returned, she'll get started right away, stating it's all for the sake of a good conversation. The girl with the book then decides to head out, leaving things to Agg, and the two then leave the residence.
After they are gone, the pig tailed girls voices her excitement of Agg's plan. Her partner the spear wielder, though thinks it's just easier if one doesn't have any expectations. And voices doubts on whether the plan will work. This ire buked by the other girl, having confidence in Agg, though commenting that Di, the spear wielder, is so mean.
Di does not deny this, though retorts that Agg's empty head can tell her that just because she's in a good mood doesn't mean something will work out. Before any more words are exchanged, the wheelchair girl comes over, suggesting that they remain friendly...after all they are or at the very least suppose to be sisters.
The chapter ends stating it would continue in Part 2.
