Letter of Introduction to the Blue Roses (蒼薔薇への紹介状) is a game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on March 10, 2025 to March 24, 2025.
Background[]
A letter arrived for the adamantite rank adventurer team, the Blue Roses, with a request from a certain local nobleman.
A letter of introduction was also included. The introducer written on the letter of introduction was someone Lakyus knew well—[1]
Incident[]
At the E-Rantel Adventurer's Guild many people are seen visiting the establishment. Located in the middle of the four walls of the city, at the second wall, the adventurers at the guild are busy exterminating Chaos Beasts appearing from the Cracks and resolving the chaos they caused.
One day Blue Roses entering in the lobby, register another completed request at the receptionist desk. Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra takes the opportunity to ask if there are any other requests her team can take on. The receptionist does in fact have a request from a noble, specifically asking the adamantite adventurers for protection.
Evileye finds it curious that they are being recommended as guards by someone. It is explained the the request came from the daughter of a noble family. Apparently her father, the previous lord, is ill due to old age, so she is acting in his place. Lakyus then asks the family name, and upon hearing the name, sends a ripple through the adventurer's mind. From what Lakyus knows of the family, they are a relatively new noble family in the Re-Estize Kingdom. At the very least, they are not an old noble family. Lakyus has vague recollections of family, and the daughter, not due to lack of information on the family, but because she herself was not really close to the daughter. For more information, Lakyus wonders if she could ask her father. The receptionist also informs that a letter has been addressed to Lakyus with the details. Two letters actually, one in blue which contains the written request. In addition the reception passes a message from the requester, "If [she] would accept my request, I have plans to go to E-Rantel soon."
Later in the inn room Blue Roses is staying at, Lakysu opens the blue letter and read the contents. It reveals that over the past few months, carriages transporting goods to E-Rantel have been attacked multiple times, so the noblewoman would like Blue Roses help in guarding the carriages and tracking down the culprits. The second letter is a letter of introduction, that the noble received from an old acquaintance to send to Lakyus. According to the acquaintance, he said that the noble would be able to rely on Lakyus if anything were to happen. On who this acquittance is, Lakyus is stunned to recognize the handwriting of the letter of introduction.
After opening and reading the contents, Lakyus then calls her team over to discuss the details. Lakyus explains that there are two main requests. One is to escort the supplies being transported from the noble's territory to E-Rantel and the other is to help remove the associated obstacles. Evileye understand the first request, but is curious on the second one. According to the letter, the client's territory is small and farmland is limited, but in exchange it has been long blessed with mineral resources and medicinal herb habitats. Taking advantage of the location, the noble family are running businesses such as mining mineral resources and cultivating medicinal herbs. It seems that things have not changed since the Incident. The nobles do business with the town's Pharmacist's Guild, mainly for the hot springs resort in E-Rantel.
However, recently there have been attacks on shipments leaving the territory and deliveries to the city have been delayed. Fortunately, there has not been any serious damage yet, but considering what will happen in the future, Lakyus doesn't think thing will stay constant. The client does have an idea who the culprit is. Evileye suspects that it could be the work of another noble. Such issues are usually normal when dealing with nearby nobility with high status. Though Gagaran asks if this is really just at typical feud between nobles. Lakyus states that it does not seem like the nobles are at odds with one another, but there are indeed issues.
Since the territory was primarily farmland to begin with, it suffered heavily from the Miasma pollution and other disasters, with the population. decreasing considerably. Also the suspect in question, a nobleman, has been getting closer to the client's house recently, ever since the daughter took over as her father's proxy. The noble even went as far to proposing to the daughter. Before the Incident, the two never had a real relationship, in fact since the client only recently became a noble, the man seems to show some disregard to the client's family. In the first place, it's obvious that the man who is proposing marriage is after the client's territory. Although there is no clear evidence, the client requested an escort for her safety.
A report has been sent to the Royal Capital, but according to the letter progress in official action has bot been good. The client's daughter thus is probably preparing for the worst scenario. Lakyus asks her friends if there a possibility that the daughter's life could be in danger. Tina and Tia believe that there is a possibility. Since the client is a woman, one option that the other party could do is abduct her and have her reported missing. Having her removed from the public eye would allow for the hostile takeover of the territory, which is typical noble mentality.
As they have yet to see the noblewoman's face, Evileye suggest that many she is not an ugly woman, who people would look at twice, and that the concern is only natural to feel in danger. In any cause Lakyus deduces that the culprit is a pretty despicable person. Even so, never would the leader of Blue Roses would have imagine that the client had a letter from a certain person, her uncle Azuth Aindra an adventurer.
At almost the same time, at the Great Tomb of Nazarick, at the Round Table Room, the protagonist gives his report to Momonga, Albedo and Demiurge related to the hot springs resort being built in E-Rantel. The project is currently under the supervision of the Pharmacist's Guild, who are developing and manufacturing medicinal herbs and bath salts for use at the hot springs resort. He informs his master and colleagues that there has been delays in delivery of the medicinal herbs and minerals that the Sorcerer Kingdom purchased. The materials themselves are purchased from the Re-Estize Kingdom and processed at a special facility in the Pharmacist's Guild. However, the materials on the way from their source, the roads along which the products are transported have been vandalized by bandits. Fortunately there appear to be no casualties of damage to the cargo by these attacks.
Albedo suspects that despite the attacks, they were not intended to steal the supplies or lives, but act as threats. Demiurge muses that even if it is a threat, it is unclear whether it was directed at the manufacturer or the supplier, E-Rantel. Regardless the protagonist informs the group that the operation for the resort is on track, and there are plans to build new ones in other areas in the near future. But if these attacks continue, those plans may be affected. Momonga understanding the situation then permits the homunculus to deal with the situation as he sees fit.[2]
A few days after Lakyus and the others received the letter from the client, Blue Roses greeted a guest in the Adventurer's Guild. The guest introduces herself as Helga, the young noblewoman who had sent the letter of request to Lakyus of Blue Roses. The noblewoman having a business meeting with the Pharmacist's Guild, hoped to meet the adventurers and is glad they took the time to see her. Lakyus remarks to Helga that she read her letter as well as her uncle's letter of introduction, and now wants to get straight to the point to ask the noblewoman details of the request.
Helga acknowledges Lakyus' need for information. What Helga tells the adventurer is that the person that the adventurers must protect is herself. Since it involves an internal matter with her family, Helga was being intentionally vague in the letter. As for the letter from Lakyus' uncle, Helga explains that her father and Azuth are old acquaintances, having known each other since before the latter became an adventurer. The adamantite adventurer has visited Helga's family territory many times and noblewoman had the pleasure of meeting him often. The letter of introduction was right by Azuth on the last day Helga saw him, right after the Incident with the Cracks.
This is news to Lakyus as she has not heard from her uncle since the Incident, but after comparing the information she gathered from her connections beforehand, Lakyus is genuinely impressed by the state of the client before her. Just as the rumors she heard, Helga appears to be both beautiful and intelligent. Not quite like royalty or upper nobility, but certainly above average in many ways. From what Lakyus heard, Helga is blessed with talent and skill that puts even male nobles to shame.
Helga continues to elaborate her circumstances, that she is the eldest daughter of the current head of the family. However, since her younger brother is still young, she has been assisting her father in running the territory. About six months ago she received a marriage proposal from a nobleman. But to be honest, there was no benefit to her. More likely the suitor was trying to exploit an opening in the faction of the new king, or he was siding with a faction rumored to be making sinister moves. Anyhow the more Helga looked into it, the darker the intentions for the proposal got.
However since the other party is of higher status, she can't just flat out reject him, so she is currently in the process of interacting with the suitor and looking for an excuse to refuse. And Lakyus figures that then the attacks on the shipments began around the same time. Helga confirms that there has also been incidents of arson near the medicinal herb cultivation areas scattered throughout the forests of the territory, and unidentified bandits have appeared. Untypically the bandits appear to be also clever and investigate her family's transportation routes and cultivation sites before making their attacks.
In a confidential matter....a while ago, a colony of plants that could be used to make narcotics was discovered within the family territory, so now they are currently planning to dispose of them. But there's a possibility that the information on their end may have been leaked to the culprit, so she is also trying to find out if there are any traitors within the mansion. If this were to be discovered, there is a possibility that the noble suitor would use this as an excuse to take drastic measures.
Lakyus is silent as she listens to this story. Normally this would make anyone unbelievably upset, but she is impressed that Helga appears to be calmly grasping the situation and acting to take action. It's no wonder why her uncle is so fond of Helga and wrote the letter of introduction for her. In fact the letter surprised Lakyus, as it said "Please help my ex-girlfriend." A typically letter from Azuth.
Helga informs Lakyus that she already written to the protagonist of the Sorcerer Kingdom about this matter, and have promised to set aside some time to discuss it later. However she came to the guild to talk to Lakyus. The situation clear, Lakyus though would like to ask one thing. To be present at Helga's meeting with the protagonist and the people connected with the Sorcerer Kingdom, as being official guards to the noblewoman. The noblewoman accepts this condition as she plans to write to the protagonist for a meeting.
Afterwards, Helga, Lakyus and the others meet the protagonist and explained the situation to him. From their description, the homunculus certainly agrees with them that there seems to be some malicious intent behind these attacks on the shipments. Since the culprit has yet to be caught, Helga finds it embarrassing so she seeks cooperation with the protagonist and Blue Roses. Lakyus explains her team's involvement of Helga's father are friend of her relatives and requested them to aid in this.
The protagonist surmises that her relationship between Lakyus and Helga has something to do with noble circles and also Lakyus' uncle being an adventurer who the homunculus recalls being the leader of an adamantite adventurer team Red Drop. Lakyus adds that she wasn't sure if she should have let him know, but since the request from Helga is related to the hot springs resort in E-Rantel, she though she make sure he heard it. On her hunch Lakyus states that this situation wasn't something that could be resolved privately.
The protagonist is agreement as it would be a problem if the supplies of the ingredients for the medicinal baths actually used at the hot springs resort were to be delayed. But it would be a good idea to show some gratitude to the nobles the Sorcerer Kingdom does business with through this incident. It is agreed by the homunculus that his nation will cooperate, given they are receiving such cooperation from the noble party connected to them, they cannot afford to remain unrelated to the matter. Above all, as the attacks do actually occur it would be better safe than sorry.
Finding the protagonist's words encouraging , Lakyus asks what they should do from there on? The protagonist advises that he will gather information within the next few days and then go to inspect Helga's territory. Lakyus is a bit disappointed as it seems like a bit of a long-term response to the incident. Of course that's not all, first the protagonist plans to send someone to the lord's mansion to prepare for the inspection. That someone would be Blue Roses to act as staff at the mansion. Evileye gets it as that way the adventurers can accompany the client as an advance party. This will be a confidential request, which will be hidden behind another request. Additionally, the protagonist would like them to guard Helga, gather information within the mansion, and if necessary, escort the transport convoy.
It would make it easier for the adventurers to move around. But Lakyus wonders if it would be alright for them to appear as is while guarding the mansion. Gagaran agrees as no doubt anyone who knows Blue Roses would be suspicious right away. The protagonist has thought of that and so suggests that the best thing would be to have some members of Blue Roses to be disguised as servants like maids. Tina and Tia are for the idea, as a maid would not arouse suspicion even in a noble's house.
Now the question is asked by Eviley on who will pay the maids? Lakyus having come from a noble family, knows a little about maids, volunteers, but feels she needs an addition person to guard Helga. Tia though points out that there is another person who is most suited to the role of maid. At first Evileye things one of the twin assassins are volunteering, but the sisters say that is not what they are thinking. With a smile, Tina and Tia look at the masked magic caster, who seeing the attention cautiously asks what they are thinking.[3]
The scene switches to a luxurious room, where Helga is instructing two new maids, Rakia and Eve, or better known as Lakyus and Evileye. The two are now dressed in maid outfits having infiltrated the noble's mansion to work as temporary staff. The story goes back to the previous day when Blue Roses arrived at the client's territory and met the head of the family, Helga's father. The ailing feudal lord, currently undergoing medical, was delighted to finally meet Azuth's niece. Alas if it weren't for his ailing health and the current situation, he expressed that he would be happy to extend his warm hospitality to her.
Lakyus tells the noble that she honestly had no idea until now that her uncle was close to the head of the family and apologizes for not arriving sooner. It revealed that from Lakyus's uncle's letter of introduction, Helga and the him had an intimate relationship. Lakyus is more surprised that Helga's father doesn't seem to have a bad impression of her uncle and assumes maybe it's because he doesn't care of the relationship between Azuth and his daughter.
The head of the family adds that he heard the story from his daughter about wanting to expose some thieves who have been appearing in the territory. So if there is anything he and his family can do for Lakyus to let them know, promising to provide their utmost cooperation. Lakyus was grateful for this and then informs the head of Blue Roses plan to have her and Evileye disguised as servants and investigated the mansion.
The noble is a bit astonished by the idea, but he is told by Lakyus that Helga suspects that it is possible that there is someone hiding within the mansion who is in cahoots with the thieves. In such a situation, if Blue Roses were to be exposed and an investigation were to begin, it would not be surprising if the culprits tried to destroy evidence against themselves. That is an element that cannot be denied by the head. And sees that if Lakyus and her friend go undercover, they will also be able to investigate any suspicious points within the territory. According to the Helga, a shipment of goods is scheduled to be sent to E-Rantel in a few days. So while Lakyus and Evileye play their roles as servant, the rest of Blue Roses will be escorting the shipment. She guarantees the shipment will not be interfered with as her teammates are highly skilled and will not disappoint.
Back to present the maids Eve and maid Rakia are left by Helga to work under the head maid. Helga offers to show them around the mansion and give them any necessary explanations if they need any assistance. Afterwards, the two were taken by the head maid, who gave them a tour of the mansion and explained their work. That night in om in the detached house where the head of the family lived, his daughter, Rakia and Eve to pay their respects. The head asks who the investigation fares. Rakia reports that the head maid has showed them around the mansion, so everything is still processing. Rakia does ask the head if the people who work at the mansion have been there for a long time. The head confirms that this is correct, the butler has been in his employ since before his daughter was born, and even the least experienced of the other servants have been at the mansion for several years.
There have been no new servants since his daughter took over as substitute. And when hiring someone for the mansion, Helga and her father always interviewed them at least once. So honestly Helga finds it hard to believe that there could be an insider in this mansion. However, even if she has to put her personal feelings aside, Helga believes that her number one priority is protecting her family, the mansion, and her territory. And because the staff has been working at the mansion for a long time, they may have some dissatisfaction or resentment towards the master.
When Rakia and Eve returned their assigned room, they discussed what Helga told them. Eve finds it hard to say for sure after what happened just the other day. But she thinks what the head of the family's daughter said is plausible. Lakyus though isn't sue maybe, because the staff has been working with the family for a long time, they sometimes feel dissatisfied or resentful towards themselves. Eve doesn't think the lord and his daughter are bad people. But what about the other people around them, including the servants of the house?
Lakyus brings up the noble suitor, having heard that he's coming to the mansion tomorrow. Since there's a doubt, Eve thinks it's probably best to at least keep an eye on the guy. In any event Eve finds it disgusting. Just because Helga's a woman and of a lower social status the other noble feels entitled to claim her. And that there should be no reason to blindly obey a man of high status.
The next foggy morning on. Eve outside with Rakia complains about it still being dark. That aside the two maids are on a cleaning schedule, first the entrance, then the stairs and then the path from the gate to the entrance. While the cleaning the fireplace and rooms in the mansion is the job of the seniors. After having swept the outside and, the two put their tools away to head to breakfast. And after that plan to wake up the master and his family to get them ready for the morning.
Rakia bumps into one of the staff, she apologizes and attempts to help him up. From his appearance Rakia deduces that he is the gardener of the mansion. The gardener tells her not to worry and explains that he was just going back to the garden shed to rest. Rakia offers to go to the garden shed with him as she has to return the tools, but the gardener vanishes. Eve wonder what's up with the man to have just left so suddenly, wondering if he was sick. Rakia notices that the gardener has dropped a bag. From Eve inspection it looks like it contains medicine or something. Not sure what to make of the contents, Rakia decides to put aside to check later.
In the afternoon, in the mansion's hallway, the head maid informs Rakia and Eve that there is a guest, so asks them to help out by making and serving tea for the mistress and the guest. The head maid then leads then into the drawing room. As instructed beforehand, Eve served tea to the head of the family's daughter and the guest. The guest though gives the new maid a surly look, that starts and Rakia. Helga though graciously thanks the maid. The guest, Helga's suitor, says that Eve seems unfamiliar to him, asking if she is a new hire.
Helga tells him that she was introduced to the mansion by an old acquaintance and was accepted as an apprentice. This is a surprise to the suitor as he didn't know that Helga was looking for a new maid, saying that she didn't have to go that far, if she had just let one or two of his maids know, he would have taken care of it. The noblewoman firmly states that it's her territory and she didn't feel the need to bother him. The suitor heard that bandits have been appearing in the territory recently. And that an inspection from E-Rantel will be coming soon.
Helga appreciates his concern, however, she has already discussed this with her father and other family members and is currently working on various options. The suitor admits that is very true and is sure she'll have to be careful about a lot of things. Eve and Rakia watch as Helga curtly answers she knows. The suitor though asks if it is too much for a woman like her to be acting as lord. Helga smiled faintly and elegantly. In stark contrast to her appearance, replies that it her duty and is well aware of it. Eve can easily see from the silent reply of the suitor that he's obviously in a bad mood.
After the suitor returns home with a dissatisfied look on his face, Rakia brought Helga some to. She asks about the suitor who just arrived, on if he is he always like that. Unfortunately yes, as Helga explains that every time he comes to socialize, he has this inquisitive attitude. From what Eve can see, he's a man with a very broad outlook or as she describes it a "man with a lot of free time."
Rakia believes that it would be more like a nitpicking personality. If is as the two guessed it. Helga thinks the suitor is trying to find an opportunity to attack her family. Sadly it's not just that person, Helga has seen many people who have doubts about a woman acting as lord, even if it is only a temporary measure until her younger brother comes of age. Like she said earlier, what concerns her is his attitude bordering on interference. So even though she has made great strides in running her own territory, Helga think it's inevitable that the people around her family's territory will make a fuss. It wouldn't be surprising if some of the people working at the mansion felt the same way.
A knock comes at the door, entering the butler with some distressing news. Later the head of the family's daughter, Eve and Rakia left the mansion with the butler through the back door and saw an injured man along with Soi, Tina and Tia. Tia explains that she was on guard earlier when she spotted this man, a private soldier from the territory. The soldier sincerely apologizes to his lady and brings some bad news about disposing of a certain "that", before he collapses. Soi rushes to help the soldier back on his feet. Eve takes a look and says that his wound doesn't seem to be deep, just that he was tired from rushing back to the mansion. Helga tells them that she will hear more about it later. For now, she orders them to take him inside to treat him.
Rakia and the others had brought in the injured soldier and were just about to treat him when he finally awakens. The soldier thanks the women for attending to his wound. Rakia while glad he is safe, is curious to know who the soldier is. Helga explains to Rakia that he is her family's private soldier, who was called in for the aforementioned matter. She had asked him to dispose of a certain thing. The wounded private soldier tells he that he was going to carry out the disposal as ordered by his Lady, but he was attacked when he arrived at the location. Fortunately, he fought back with others and they were able to repel the bandits. A few were injured, but thankfully nothing serious. They are now guarding the site of the colony of plants.
Soi remember Helga said the site was a drug hotspot. And so asks if there anyone in this house who knows about it? Helga states the only ones who knew about the disposal of the colony were her father, her, and a few of their private soldiers, including the one who gave the order to do so. They were limiting the means of communication to prevent information from leaking, but as Eve deduces the information was leaked somewhere. Considering the circumstances, that's the only thing Soi can think of and that maybe she should tell the protagonist about it.
Soi leaves the room telling them that she will let the people over at E-Rantel know. Once she gets back they know what to do next. The soon comes back having finished her communication. From her face Rakia can tell the response was not good. All in all they group can say that the information leak was an inside job. The others are literally at their wits' end. Rakia says that despite a sending a letter to the royal capital explaining the discovery of the drug clusters and how they would dispose of them all before they were misused, the authorities in the royal capital were unaware of the situation...which means no reports had been received from there.
Whether it was when the letter was sent or after it arrived at the royal capital, Soi is certain that it was discarded along the way. In that case, Eve leaves that the only possibility is that it's someone in this mansion. Eve then takes out the bag that the gardener dropped and shows it to Helga. Helga takes the bag from Eve, checks the smell without opening it, and then her expression freezes.
Helga demands to know where on earth did she picked this up? Rakia tells her it was outside the mansion. She found it this morning on my way back from cleaning the yard. Rakia had just bumped into a gardener as she passed him, so it's possible that he dropped it. Hearing this Helga cannot believe that the gardener had this on him. Helga confirms that the bag definitely contains a drug. Judging from the smell, it's made with "that" to the shock of the adventurers.
The next day, Eve and Rakia are talking in the hallway that there's a colony of plants that can be used to make narcotics somewhere in the territory. Rakia claims to have accidentally overheard it last night. The young lady and the mansion's private soldier were talking about it. Apparently, they were going to get rid of the drug clusters or something. Not only that Eve mentions that someone clutching some documents ran into the master's room in a panic just now. Seemingly unknown to the pair, someone is overhearing them before calmly walking away.
That night, in the master's study, someone sneaks into it. Just as he was searching the room, the door slams open and the lights come on. Helga flanked by Eve and Rakia appear to apprehend the culprit which turns out to be the gardener. Helga then angrily approaches her employee demanding to know where he got the package of drugs that Rakia had picked up outside a few days ago.
Gardener tells her this was from the Count or the suitor. Helga expected as much and with resolve, she fixed her eyes on the gardener. She wants to know why did he do this? Was there something wrong with her... with her family? The gardener confesses that this was never the case, as he has been treated well by the head of the family, the daughter, and the young master. He in fact feels sorry fir having repaid kindness with insult.
Helga never would have imagined that man's hand had reached this far into her family's territory. After hearing the whole story from the gardener, Helga looked through the stack of documents she was given and then pursed her lips tightly. Eve had no idea that the suitor in question had not only obtained information about the drugs, but had even gotten the drugs himself. Moreover, he had used dealers to sell it to the gardener on multiple occasions, falsely claiming it was a treatment for a chronic illness. It's no wonder things were so strange at the time.
Rakia believes that the gardener needs treatment, as it's not too late. Helga laments that it doesn't change what he did and it's her fault that this happened. Rakia studying the document, it would mean that there are multiple colonies other than the one they were trying to dispose of this time. There's no doubt that the culprit's goal is to monopolize the colony without being discovered by the lord of this area or the royal capital. Since the demise of Eight Fingers, no one has had any control over the untouched drug trafficking interests which is what the perpetrator was aiming for.[4]
Early in the morning a few days later, a convoy of soldiers is getting ready to move out. Helga bids the convoy good luck as they leave. As the wagons then head to E-Rantel, Helga thought back to the events of the previous night. It was when Eve stated that there's no doubt that the suitor is a criminal, but it wouldn't be wise to just wait and see what happens. The information they have at the moment isn't enough to corner the "enemy" as Rakia surmises. Especially when they don't know when the suitor will find out that they've captured the gardener. Whatever the case may be, conclusive evidence is certainly needed as Eve put it. Soi has an idea, but requires her to contact the protagonist.
A few days later, Gagaran Tia and Tina of Blue Roses and were seen in a cargo convoy heading to E-Rantel. While the convoy is taking a break, Tina reports to her friend that there doesn't seem to be anyone suspicious in the area. This is a relief to the adventurer. Gagaran wonders when the thieves really show up as this might be the crucial moment. The soldiers of the convoy then ready to head out.
Tina mentions that their "demon boss" has been acting strange ever since she read the letter of introduction. Tia agrees as Lakyus refuses to divulge what's on it to the rest of the team. Because of that Gagaan wonders if Azuth was wrote something important on it. Tia is curious to know and even though she could sneakily steal the letter of introduction, but then she might risk angering Lakyus and that would be scary.
Now that Tia thinks about it, the other day she heard the Demon Boss mutter to herself, "What are you doing, Uncle..." This makes Gagaran wonder if something happened in the past? That maybe Azuth owed them a debt to the client? So much is so unclear, but they are distracted when they sense that the bandits are near, in the expected location.[5]
The bandits are easily taken out by Blue Roses who then restrain them before heading out to E-Rantel with the convoy.
A while ago----after Gagaran and the others set out, when Eve and Rakia were talking about how the master was giving orders to dispose of the drug plant colonies, the gardener had overheard and reported this to the noble suitor who had him in is thrall.
Later in the forests of Helga's territory a band of rogues are at the location where the drug plants are based on the information given to them by the noble's inside man. The rogues plan on laying in wait to attack the soldiers sent to the area to purge the plants. Instead of soldiers they encounter Lakyus and Evileye in the adventurer gear who menacing approach the ruffians with weapons in hand.
At the Adventurer's Guild in E-Rantel, Soi contacts the protagonist, informing him that Blue Rose has returned as he predicted. Apparently they caught a suspicious people approaching the area where the drug plant grows. And they have confirmed that they were minions of the suitor. Apparently they heard that the lord was going to dispose of the colony, and came to interfere. She adds that there had been rumors within the mansion, but it seems that the final straw was a letter from the gardener. With that much information, the protagonist thinks they now can look into the incident. Thus he asks Soi to please ask Blue Roses and Helga to wait three more days so that he can let them know the results of his investigation.
A few days later, Helga finally confront the suitor about his criminal activity in her family's territory. Faced with these accusations, the suitor denies them. But Helga has proof, using the documents she found at the mansion and the evidence provided by the protagonist, she calmly continued to question the noble suitor.
The allegations are that the suitor tried to prevent the disposal of a drug plan colony, which the thieves her people caught confirmed as well. And a little while ago, one of her maids saw a person leaving the mansion and going somewhere and has confessed to being an accomplice.
The suitor still does not admit his guilt, calling out Helga's peerage into question as she took the testimony of a mere maid seriously. Helga then has another surprise for the suitor, as she claps her hands signaling Lakyus and Evileye to enter the room, showing that they are the very same maids that reported the suitor's accomplice.
Helga introduces the suitor to Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra, the daughter of the Aindra family, and leader of the Blue Rose, one of the kingdom's leading adamantite rank adventurer teams. As the seriousness of the situation sinks in to the suitor's culpability, Helga underlines there's a big difference between the testimony of a mere maid and that of the daughter of the Aindra family, a friend of the late Princess Renner and leader of the Blue Rose.
Three soldiers of the Kingdom then enter the room, ordering suitor to accompany them as King Zanac has been informed of his criminal actions against Helga's family. The suitor though refuses this as he is dragged away by the solders. Helga though cold gazes at the male noblemen, causing him who had been resisting the soldiers to flinch. The noblewoman tells the man she already figured him out that he is a man who can barely manage his own territory, and who is only capable of eating away at the inheritances of the nobles he looks down upon, without any shame or dignity.
This infuriates the suitor, who then begins shouting insults at the heiress and tries to attack her but is restrained by the soldiers. Lakyus stepping between the two nobles informs the suitor that he has added another sin. Helga then leaves Lakyus to take care of the rest. The soldiers left the room, half dragging the nobleman, who was still yelling.[6]
Aftermath[]
A few days after the incident was resolved, the protagonist returned to Nazarick and reported the details to Momonga. When the Blue Roses investigated the identities of those they had captured, they apprehended the noble in question. It seems that after his own territory was devastated by the strange effects of miasma pollution, he set his sights on the territory of a neighboring noble family. In some cases, he may have intended to harm the lord's family as well. The daughter of the head of the family also formal refusing his marriage proposal. Regardless of whether he can actually be charged with a crime, this is enough of an excuse to turn down the proposal.
As for the current status of transporting materials for the hot springs resort, so far, there have been no reports of interference, likely because the nobleman in question was acting alone. The subsequent inspections have also been completed without any problems. The protagonist promises he will provide him with more details in writing at a later date.
Demiurge though considers that the noble faction was behind the incident. And it is unclear whether they will be charged with a crime, but they cannot afford to make any further shaky moves in this matter. If the accused noble is acquitted, then the Sorcerer Kingdom may be able to take appropriate action. Albedo sinisterly agrees, adding that the Sorcerer Kingdom will make him pay for his crimes in the future. Regardless of Momonga's thoughts, the Guardians were grinning.
Some time after the incident was resolved, Lakyus has one last meeting with Helga who informs the adventurer that she has officially turned down the marriage proposal, as it seems that almost all of her arguments for refusing were accepted. It seems that there were other charges besides the one in question, and investigations into those have already begun. Helga has an interrogation coming up, so she'll probably need to head to the royal capital soon. That being said, Helga says it's only thanks to Lakyus and everyone in Blue Roses that things have turned out this way and thus thanks her. Evileye can't deny that the situation may change as the investigation progresses, but even so, it's certain that the nobleman won't get away with it.
Lakyus asks for a private word with Helga. And after sending the others off, Lakyus began asking Helga questions. In her uncle's letter of introduction, it was written that he had been intimate with Helga in the pas, thus she wants to know what was the nature of their relationship. Azuth even wroting, "Please help my ex-girlfriend," which Lakyus fears may indicate it was serious.
In response to Lakyus' question, Helga looked off into the distance for just a moment...and then she slowly opened her lips. It was a long time ago, but she once tried to woo Azuth. Of course her father didn't take it seriously, but she heard that there was a bit of a fuss afterwards. Lakyus wonders what that meant, as Helga continues to explain in the end, Azth rejected her, saying "[he'll] think about it when [she] becomes a good woman.". Well, even after that his relationship with our family continued unchanged, which is why Azuth gave Helga the letter of introduction.
Helga stated that it was a long time ago, but Lakyus asks when was that. To which Helga answers it must have been more than ten years ago. The time period makes Lakyus ruminate, pretty sure she was told that Helga is not that far apart in age from her. In that case it was just a little girl's crush on her uncle. Thus the horrifying idea that had occurred to Lakyus was not entirely wrong, and she desperately tried to suppress the dizziness that was about to come over her.
Regardless Lakyus is relieved her uncle was not taking advantage of Helga, but in fact was looking out for her family. Still even though it was a long time ago, Lakyus wonders what he was really doing with Helga's family. More importantly her mind drifts to Azuth's uncertain fate as she doesn't know where her uncle is now or if he's alive and can only help but complain and worry. [7]
