Get Closer! Music Festival (もっと近づこう!ミュージックフェスティバル Motto Chikadzukou! Myūjikkufesutibaru) is the ninth episode of Isekai Quartet 3. It was first broadcasted on December 8, 2025.

Summary[]

In class, Roswaal and Erich announce that the school will be hold a music festival next week, causing Kazuma, Aqua and Tanya to complain about how these events keep happening one-after-another. However, they are silenced when Roswaal reveals the price for winning: the button that transported them to this world. This shocks Ainz, Kazuma, and Tanya while confusing Subaru, who never saw the device before.

After class, Ainz, Kazuma, Tanya, and Subaru meet on the school rooftop where they explain to the latter what the button is, causing him to suspect that Roswaal pushed it in his world. Before they can proceed any further, Ainz alerts the group that they have visitors. Standing nearby are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Zeta of Class 1, watching them with openly hostile glares.

Tanya steps forward and directs her question to Alpha, the apparent leader, asking what business they have with them. Alpha responds coldly, expressing her disappointment in Tanya and accusing her of being a servant of the Cult of Diablos. Tanya, utterly confused, admits she has no idea what Alpha is talking about.

Alpha presses on, declaring that Tanya is a devil wearing the skin of a little girl. The accusation leaves Tanya momentarily stunned—uncomfortably close to the truth, though not in the way Alpha imagines. Tanya is not a devil, but a reincarnated man trapped in a young girl’s body.

Annoyed rather than shaken, Tanya demands to know where Alpha got such an absurd idea. Alpha explains that one of the teachers—Pandora’s Actor—had informed her. Tanya initially assumes this is some elaborate joke, but Beta confirms that Class 1 has conducted an investigation into Class 2 and classified all of its students as devils, Tanya included. Subaru finds this revelation deeply unsettling.

The most alarming accusation, however, is reserved for Ainz Ooal Gown, whom they label the “Ruler of Darkness.” Momonga is visibly taken aback and attempts to explain that the title is merely one of several monikers he has carried in the past. Zeta cuts him off, having already judged him to be evil incarnate.

Seeing the situation spiraling, Tanya tries to de-escalate, insisting that Alpha stop spreading slander. She reiterates that neither she nor her classmates have any knowledge of the Cult of Diablos. Alpha, unconvinced, accuses them of playing dumb and declares Class 2 enemies of Shadow Garden. Ainz watches the exchange unfold, uncertain how to react, though the situation feels strangely familiar to him.

Tanya points out that any civilized person would attempt diplomacy before resorting to violence, especially since this world forbids it. Alpha acknowledges this restriction and announces that Class 1 will oppose Class 2 through other means. During next week’s music festival, they intend to win the artifact capable of returning its user to their original world—while sealing Class 2 in this one. With that threat delivered, the women depart.

Afterward, Ainz reflects that Class 2 now has enemies to contend with. Kazuma bluntly blames the misunderstanding on Ainz’s skeletal appearance, a criticism Ainz cannot refute. Tanya concludes that negotiation is pointless after being labeled a devil and privately fumes over Pandora’s Actor, vowing to report him to Erich.

In Class 1’s classroom, Felt rallies her classmates, declaring their intent to defeat Class 2 at the music festival. Gamma presents her intelligence report detailing Class 2’s combat capabilities. Alpha emphasizes that while Emilia may be Class 2’s representative, she believes the true leader is Ainz, citing his title as Ruler of Darkness.

Gamma adds that Ainz is supported by three devils: Demiurge, Albedo, and Tanya. Hearing Tanya listed among them confuses Chris, but Alpha insists Tanya is indeed a devil in disguise. Reinhard casually reassures Chris that it’s probably just a figure of speech.

Gamma posts pictures of Ainz, Demiurge, Albedo, and Tanya on the blackboard as primary targets. Julius interrupts, arguing that Class 2 has other dangerous members. In his opinion, Subaru poses the greatest threat. Chris agrees, adding Kazuma to the list.

Gamma admits she investigated both but found their abilities unimpressive. Chris counters that raw power isn’t everything—some people are dangerous because of how clever they are. Reinhard agrees, noting that such individuals often act unpredictably. Felt concludes that strength cannot always be judged at a glance. Accepting this, Gamma adds Subaru and Kazuma to the board. Felt declares that Class 1 will win the music festival, no matter who stands against them.

Delta, who has slept through most of the meeting, suddenly wakes and declares they’ll be fine as long as they have their boss, Cid Kagenou. As the class boasts confidently, Cid—quietly reading—reflects on the upcoming festival. Normally, he would avoid something so attention-grabbing, but as the Eminence in Shadow, he decides it might be an opportunity to do something suitably cool.

Later, in the music room, Emilia assigns roles for Class 2’s orchestra. Cocytus hesitates over his piano assignment, but Darkness, holding a tuba, reassures him. She then notices Otto clutching his head in distress—he’s been chosen as the conductor and is visibly panicking.

Albedo snaps at him to stop complaining, reminding him the role was decided fairly. Matheus, meanwhile, is surprised that Albedo isn’t protesting about being separated from Ainz. It’s revealed that Aura convinced her to accept the arrangement by offering to act as Ainz’s personal tutor for the cymbals, given his lack of musical skill.

Tanya sets down her trumpet and addresses the class, asking a serious question: does anyone truly want to return to their original world? Emilia asks her to clarify. Tanya explains that she and her unit come from a world consumed by brutal war—a war that is not going well. They have a duty to return and finish what they started. She asks again who wishes to go home.

Megumin declares that she must return to defeat the Demon King and looks to Aqua for support. To Megumin and Darkness’s shock, Aqua casually admits she has given up on that goal. Kazuma agrees, finding the current world comfortable enough.

Tanya is surprised by Kazuma’s response. After thinking it over, he admits that the inability to get drunk here is a serious drawback. Koenig and Neumann wholeheartedly agree, much to Tanya’s embarrassment. Kazuma adds that there are other perks to his original world—secretly thinking of succubus services. When Ram calls him disgusting, Kazuma panics, thinking she somehow knows. He hurriedly insists it’s nothing when questioned.

Turning to Subaru, Tanya asks for his decision. Subaru admits his world is in terrible shape and returning will likely bring suffering, but he still wants to go home. Beatrice proudly supports him. Subaru adds that he wants to help Emilia become ruler to fulfill her dream. The class quietly admires his resolve.

Finally, Ainz is asked. After musing about a “bugged transfer,” he admits that since becoming a student, he’s realized any place can become meaningful—especially with people like Class 2. Tanya questions what’s gotten into him, while Kazuma teases that he sounds like he’s pitching a manga. Subaru jokes about reading it someday.

Ignoring them, Ainz states that if Subaru wants to go home, then they should all commit to winning the music festival. Tanya smiles and agrees. Subaru suggests adding a chorus, prompting Otto to despair at the limited time. Subaru insists they try anyway, citing the teachings of the Order of Axis: it’s better to regret what you do than what you don’t. Aqua immediately claims that’s wrong. Sighing, Otto calls the class to attention. They begin practicing in earnest, with only one week left.

That night, in the public park, the flowers cultivated by Class 2 continue to mutate.
