Invaders of the Tomb -Welcome- (大墳墓への侵入者-歓迎-) is a re-enactment game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on May 20, 2020 to May 31, 2020.
Background[]
This is a story you should have seen somewhere------. Workers who stepped into the tomb at the request of the imperial aristocrat. What awaited me was the treasure, and the fear and pain that doubled. Hell, where "death" is merciful, welcomes the invaders.[1]
Summary[]
At a special reception room, Fluder Paradyne hurries to meet two very important guests that have come to see him: the adamantite adventurer team: Darkness. There he meets "Dark Hero" Momon and "Beautiful Princess" Nabe. At first apologizing for the delay, he is struck by confusion when he is unable to see the magic aura of Nabe with his talent. Momon seeing Fluder's silence, soon understand and order Nabe to remove one of her rings that hides her powers. Obeying Nabe take off her ring. The effect on Fluder is immense as her aura exceeds his own. Judging by his sight he sees that Nabe is capable of the eighth tier of magic a feat that throws him in angst as her age does not correspond with her power. But it is Momon that send the wizard to his knees who he too removes a bring, displaying the might of the tenth tier of magic. Fluder briefly panics but it turns immense joy as there are still heights of power that he still has yet to reach. Prostrating himself before Momon, the elderly man proclaims that Momon is the true God of Magic that he worships and he begs Momon to show him the abyss of magic. As Momon questions what would he offer in return, Fluder promises to offer him everything he has. Upon seeing the sincerity of Fluder's request, Momon accepts him as his disciple ordering him to send sacrifices to his domain.
In a further time before the meeting with Fluder; Nazarick having successfully completed an operation in the Re-Estize Kingdom had a discussion on what actions to take next. To determine the future policy of Nazarick, Ainz had asked Demiurge to announce it to his gathered subjects in the Throne Room. Demiurge states that thanks to the efforts of their comrades they now effectively control the underworld of the Kingdom, which is a stepping stone to Ainz's plan of world domination, however the plan of such an action is lost to the Overlord.[2]
Momonga keeps to himself and ponders how world domination was decided. Demiurge claims it was an idea Ainz had in mind but couldn't implement until now in reference to a moment all the way back in when Ainz first looked at the sky of the New World. It is there that Ainz is quoted stating jokingly that, "the most enjoyable thing now might just be taking over the world."
But he thinks it's not a bad idea, playing along, Ainz coaxes from Demiurge the "how" of proceeding with such an undertaking; Demiurge petitions that Nazarick goes public, as the ones who brainwashed Shalltear are still unknown. If Nazarick continued hiding in the shadows it would only hinder their hunt.
Albedo is against simply "aligning" with the Re-Estize Kingdom, which Demiurge agrees since the whole kingdom, save one individual, is worthless. And "serving" another nation would further limit their movements. If those who attacked Shalltear are a part of a covert organization, they would use that situation against them. Demiurge recommends that Nazarick becomes its own sovereign state.
In the present, after seeing off the workers invading the ruins, Ainz left the camp to Narberal and returned to Nazarick alone. There in the Throne Room, he is greeted by Albedo waiting for him. For their preparations for the workers, Albedo assures him that preparations are complete, that their "guests" will enjoy the surprises. Ainz is pleased and looks forward to seeing Albedo's measure of hospitality. As he sits on the Throne, Albedo pulls up several light monitors to view the various worker groups; Ainz notes their entry, ordering Albedo not to let a single one go unscathed. As Albedo promises to punish the thieves for trespassing into Nazarick, she asks Ainz which group he'd like to use as guinea pigs for his 'new sword', with the Overlord thinking about it before making a decision.[3]
In the Sixth Floor Amphitheater, Aura announces Team Foresight, and grandiosely introduces Ainz Ooal Gown, wearing a simple robe and trousers while wearing an shackle collar with Albedo following behind. At the back of the group, Arche apologizes to her friends as she believes her selfishness and greed led them to this encounter with Ainz; but they affirm this was a team decision, not her fault. Hekkeran looks over at Ainz, and whispers to his friends there may be a way to talk themselves out of this. Their leader takes a cordial posture and apologizes to Ainz for intruding into the tomb without permission. He then asks what could recompense Ainz to allow them for a departure. Ainz, however, compares their presence to that of maggots in food "unwanted and you don't simply let them go". Hekkeran asks what if the had permission. This causes Aiz to indulge Hekkeran and asks "who" could have given them permission. Hekkeran stalls with minor details of a monster description, looking for some way to escape, but when Ainz plays along then asks what did his "friend" say, promising their safety if they were indeed granted permission to enter. Hekkeran said the "comrade" told him to give 'Ainz' his regards. Ainz immediately knows this to be false as he and his NPCs only know he changed his name upon arriving in the New World. Laughing it off, he tells them the story doesn't hold up. He goes full trigger, raging at them for trampling into the home he and his comrades worked so hard to create, and how Hekkeran tried to lie in the name of his friends right to his face.[4]
The calming effect kicks in and Ainz returns to a rational mindset. Ainz tells the workers he doesn't blame them for trying as it was to try to survive; and that the anger he displayed was a selfish reaction to their lie. Ainz removes his top robe, ready to fight. Shalltear in the audience stands coos over his naked torso, which causes Cocytus in the back to pull her down from the VIP box; with Hekkeran momentarily wondering what the sound was. Attacking first, Ainz goes at Hekkeran while Arche and Roberdyck provide support magics. Ainz's Passive Skill nullifies their attacks, and he easily counters Hekkeran's attacks around his shield. Arche uses [Flash] to blind Ainz as Rober uses a strength boost on Hekkeran's attack. The assault fails and Ainz still stands ready; he acknowledges that a skilled party with great teamwork has high chances, but decides to "play a different game" with them. Ainz unequips his weapons to be a magic caster; surprising the Workers, as he fought evenly with Hekkeran's Warrior classes. Arche tries to use her talent to gauge Ainz, but finds no magical power within him. Ainz notes this and apologizes as he was wearing a concealing ring to hide his magical output. Upon seeing his true magical potential, Arche vomits from shock. Arche pleads with her friends to run as Ainz is a monster; seeing his magical power as insane. Roberdyck uses [Lion's Heart] to quell her fear, and Arche states that Ainz is something no human can hope to win against.[5]
Meanwhile, outside on the surface, Parpatra's Dragon Hunt notes the loss of profit in not entering the tomb first, but their leader notes entering an unknown area right away invites too much danger. Thus they are using the others as the canaries. Yuri Alpha surprises them by acknowledging a level headed decision. Dragon Hunt turns as they see the four of the Pleiades at the top of the staircase. One of Dragon Hunt members notes that maids at a tomb is bad taste since they mustn't be good at their jobs, which triggers the Pleiades' rage. Dragon Hunt tenses up sensing this killing intent, when the maids call for to kill them. Yuri calms her sisters to focus as they will kill them, but due to their restrictions by Ainz, they cannot kill them directly. Yuri summons the Old Guarders to be Dragon Hunt's opponents. Parpatra believes that the Old Guarders are the most powerful of the tomb; with the Pleiades confused at the statement. Parpatra finds that his group are now the canaries. Yuri calls for their battle to begin. After a few minutes, the Pleiades are disappointed to see such weaklings fighting a small squad of Old Guarders, as only Parpatra and another member of Dragon Hunt are all that remain. Giving a narration, the Pleiades see all but Parpatra dies. As Entoma drools overeating one of the fallen Dragon Hunt members, Yuri reminds her that they are only to collect the fallen. After Parpatra falls, Yuri calls for the still breathing to be healed and sent to the torture chamber, while the dead are to examined by Ainz.[6]
In the tomb, Heavy Masher defeats a bunch of skeleton complaining along the way on the number of enemies. They soon run afoul of a single Elder Lich. However rather than attacking the undead waits in silence. Gringham thinkg that this lich is the master of the tomb tries to negotiate with it. However a squad of Elder Liches soon emerges behind and they begin shooting fireballs at them. As the workers run, the thief of the group finds a door to enter thru to hide. Feeling safe, a teleportation trap spell is triggered. Finding themselves in a dark room, they soon meet Kyouhukou, who after his introduction is asked who is he and finds the repetition annoying. Gringham offers a trade to escape him, but Kyouhukou is thankful for their presence as his children need food, and are tired of roach on roach cannibalism. As the roaches eat him alive, another of his men was transported to Neuronist Painkill, a Special Intelligence Collector, who elaborates that the worker groups have entered Nazarick, the most honorable place in the world. Neuronist goes on about Ainz, her love of him, and going on a tangent about how much she hates Albedo and Shalltear. As Neuronist's creator suffered from kidney stones, she feels that she should start with a special tool inspired by it.[7]
Somewhere in the tomb, Erya hears something up ahead, and they soon meet with Hamsuke; who is sparring with some the lizardmen. Hamsuke informs Erya that they are to fight to see the results of Hamsuke's training. As both take stances, Hamsuke introduces herself, but Erya doesn't feel a need to seeing her as inferior; thus Hamsuke will erase this loser with no name. As she charges, Erya evades using martial arts but is headbutted by Hamsuke, and he loses any sense of composure; Hamsuke however, sees him using his abilities and remembers her training to keep a distance until she knows more about them. Erya starts to attack wildly, but Hamsuke's natural fur and claws are strong enough to shield her from his sword. Changing attacks to her tail, Erya is critically injured and berates his elf slaves to heal and enchant him; reluctantly complying, they buff their master in his blood lust.
Hamsuke politely requests they all attack to see the outcome, but Erya attacks like a madman with Hamsuke countering by cutting off both of his arms using Martial Arts Slashing Strike. Erya roars at his slaves to heal him, but with seeing him suffer and about to die, they all laugh at his plight. Erya, realizing he's all alone, is given a mercy killing by Hamsuke by a tail strike to his face, caving in his skull. Turning around for critique, Zaryusu acknowledges Hamsuke's activated martial arts capabilities when using Slashing Strike to remove Erya's arms. Looking back, they all see the elves kicking Erya's corpse; confused by the sight of it, believing it is how they mourn.[8]
Back on the 6th Floor, Ainz decides to make a move with [Touch of Undeath]. Ainz calmly walks over to them, easily deflecting Imina's arrows; he instantly appears behind Imina to use his Touch, but Hekkeran pushes her out of the way to use a heavy combo of Martial Arts to strike Ainz. Thinking he got him, he stands bemused at Ainz with no damage, who grabs him by the face. Hekkeran then warns Imina he has immunity to slash and strike attacks, which Ainz corrects as any weaker level attacks don't leave damage on him; with Imina calling that a cheat. As the others debate this claim, they think he may have some weakness. Ainz then uses [Paralysis] on Hekkeran, and he thinks his [Touch of Undeath] may be overkill. Imina then directs her insults to Hekkeran who should have just abandoned her, but he didn't as he loves her; Ainz calls her out as distasteful for her insults. It is then Imina remembers and tries to bluff Ainz that if they don't return by a certain hour, Momon "The Strongest Man" will come for them. Ainz rebuffs this as he cannot save them from him.[9]
Roberdyck and Imina tell Arche to flee, to get back to her sisters as they will Ainz to buy at least ten seconds for her to run away. Seeing this, Ainz states he thought they would have a more disgraceful exit, but Imina and Rober did so as they are comrades, asking Ainz if his old friends were not the same; he confirms they were. Ainz then recites the saying his friends would say, believing it from the Gospel of Mark but is uncertain. Imina implores Ainz to let Arche go. Ainz lets her go, but orders Shalltear to follow her and when despair consumes her to give Arche a merciful death. Roberdyck then attacks questioning how is that a mercy. Ainz elaborates to him that in Nazarick, death is a mercy of freedom from suffering in life, stunning the cleric. Imina and Roberdyck then engage Ainz to buy Arche time to escape. Imina falls paralyzed while Roberdyck is barely able to move. Ainz commends them, and orders Aura to take Hekkeran and Imina to the Large Hole for Gashokukochuuou to have more nesting room. Aura desperately, but calmly, asks if Mare can do the task instead; Ainz approves it and the dark elf goes to compel her brother in her place. Roberdyck, barely able to continue, asks what Ainz plans for him. As he is a Faith Magic Caster, Ainz wants to run experiments on him; including memory alterations to see what would happen if his God is replaced by another, if it will affect his magics. Roberdyck asks why Ainz would do this, and his response is simple: he does not believe he is the only 'chosen one' in the world, and wants to be stronger in the event of battle with another. Outside Arche comes to tears at her friends sacrifice.[10]
As Arche flies over the forest, her magic runs out and she sits by a tree to rest. There she wishes she had done something to have helped her comrades. Looking up for a second finds Shalltear gazing menacingly over head, asking if they finished their game of tag. Acrhe then flees with [Fly] only to hit an invisible wall, which Shalltear explains is the border of the 6th Floor, still underground. Arche asks if there is still a chance at escape, with Shalltear confirming there is none, leading the young mage to fight the vampire in desperation. Shalltear easily disarms her, and in hold Arche close in a lover's embrace, tells her she should be thankful Ainz granted her a merciful painless death. Arche then in her horror sees Shalltear become her True Vampire self to taste her. In the Throne Room, Ainz commends Albedo for her diligence during the invasion. Entoma arrives, using a new lip bug having taken Arche's voice, to inform her of Aura and Mare's ready to depart. Albedo asks if Ainz is comfortable with the voice; he is as it was his order Entoma have it. Ainz asks if Entoma made efficient use of the body, which she divided appropriately: Arche's head was given to one of the Silk Hat Demons, the arms divided among the Deadman Struggle, Demiurge took all of her skin, and the rest was given to Grant's children to eat. Ainz is pleased, as the hunter must use all of the capture prey without waste, that is how best to respect the dead. Meanwhile, late at Arche's home, her little sisters Ureirika and Kuuderika are gazing out the window wondering when their big sister will return. With both talking about what they'll do when they move into a new home with their big sister. They continue looking out the window, waiting for Arche's return.[11]
