Mass for the Dead Arc[]

Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc

Due to her father's ailing health, Helga was named temporary head of the family, given that she was the eldest and also the fact her younger brother was too young to run the family's affairs. Despite her being a woman, Helga proved just as effective in managing her family territory. Though she faced some criticism by other nobles in the surrounding areas. Her family's business in shipping out minerals and herbs out of their territory to supply E-Rantel's bathing facilities came under attack. Shipments were delayed by roving bandits that spouted out of nowhere. Though there were no deaths in these attacks, it was obvious that they were made to act as threats to her family.

At the same time Helga faced the unrelenting advances of a nobleman who tried to woo her for her hand in marriage. While she had no interest in marriage, the suitor was a noble of a higher status, thus could not outright reject him. All she could do was interact with the man and look for a way to politely refuse him.

However the attacks on the shipments and the suitor's intricate knowledge of her family's affairs, caused Helga to suspect he might be the mastermind. Helga then reached out to Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra for her. Though the two women only knew each other in passing, they had a mutual acquaintance, Azuth Aindra. After sending her a letter requesting her aid and a letter of introduction that Azuth had given her should she ever need help, Lakyus agreed to lend Blue Roses aid.

Since supplies were being requested by the Sorcerer Kingdom to support their spa resort project in E-Rantel, Lakyus and Helga reached out to the protagonist for cooperation in resolving the incident. Blue Roses was allowed to take point on the investigation, by having two members be employed as staff at Helga's mansion for her protection and to discover the informant. Lakyus and Evileye were assigned as the maids: Rakia and Eve. While Gagaran, Tina and Tia were to protect the convoy heading to E-Rantel.

During Blue Roses stay in Helga's territory, an injured soldier of the territory arrived at the mansion. After Helga and the others brought him inside, the noblewoman revealed to her allies that she and her father gave the soldier and his men orders to purge a cluster of drug plants in the territory to prevent their misuse. The soldier reported that his men found the cluster but were ambushed by bandits. Though the soldiers repelled the bandits, it was clear that someone had informed them of where the drug plants were despite the secrecy Helga and her father put in.

Soi who was present later reported that the letter Helga sent to the royal capital, reporting the drug plants and the intent to remove them, never reached the king. This meant that it was intercepted before reaching the authorities. Lakyus and Evileye also showed Helga a package they found after a gardener bumped into one of them, which contained drugs.

In a sting operation, Helga and her allies caught the informant which turned out to be the gardener. It was revealed that the man had a severe drug addiction which the suitor capitalized on by supplying him drugs in exchange for being his spy.

The bandits that were lurking in the territory were apprehend by the rest of Blue Roses, Lakyus and Evileye intercepting a group who tried to raid another drug plant cluster, while Gagaran and the others defeated another group attempting to delay the convoy.

The protagonist having conducted an investigation on his end, collected enough evidence of foul play and informed King Zanac Valleon Igana Ryle Vaiself of the situation, who then dispatched his soldiers to arrest the suitor for his crimes. Afterwards shipments from Helga's territory resumed as normal. And though it appeared that the noble was acting alone, some in the Sorcerer Kingdom suspected that a noble faction was behind the incident and would probably escape justice.

Before Helga and Lakyus parted way, she explained the depth of her relationship with her uncle to the latter and that they were just friends. This caused Lakyus to be relieved as she was worried that her uncle was in a serious relationship with her.[1]

Through that relationship, Azuth became familiar with Helga as the adventurer has visited her territory many times and she's had the pleasure of meeting him often. In the letter of introduction that he gave to Helga to use to ask for his niece Lakyus to assist her if she ever needed, he refers Helga as his ex-girlfriend. It suggests that the pair were close, or were in a romantic relationship in the past. Which later is revealed to be the case, as Helga admits trying to woo Azuth. At her her father did not think much of Helga flirting with his old friend, but when he took noticed, it caused a fuss in the family.
