Hane (羽根) is an item from Mass for the Dead.
Description[]
During the New Year's celebration, Aura Bella Fiora and Mare Bello Fiore enjoyed hitting the hane with their hagoita.[1] It seems that those who dropped the hane are faced with a penalty of having their face drawn with ink.
Appearance[]
A small black ball into which several colorful feathers are stuck to it.
Abilities[]
The hane's purpose is that of a toy. However since the item is made from a soap-berry, in a druid's hands it can be a weapon.
Trivia[]
- A hane is a shuttlecock, used in a game called hanetsuki, which is a Japanese version of badminton. It is of traditional games often played in New Year's Holidays in Japan and was originally used as a Shinto ritual, performed in the hope of girls' healthy growth. It was also played as a game among court nobles.
- Traditional hanes are made with fletched soap-berry seed.
- Aura and Mare would play a game of hanetsuki as a demonstration match for the dwarves when they visited the Dwarf Kingdom with Momonga on his journey to see the "first sunrise" at the Azerlisia Mountains for New Year's. And later continued after the defeat of the White Mochi King, playing in the Amphitheater. Lupusregina Beta also played the game with Shiro.[2]
