Fox’s Good Luck and Fortune (お狐様の開運招福) is a game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on January 1, 2025 to January 15, 2025.

Background[]

The New Year has come to Nazarick once again. In order to defeat the ruler of New Year, Shiramochi-ō, an interception operation will be carried out once again using Shiro, a resident of Nazarick.

However, this time it will be livelier, with many visitors coming…[1]

Incident[]

Shiro awakens after reliving a memory of the first sunset of the Azerlisia Mountains that he witnessed last New Year's with Momonga and the others. From the dream, the boy assumes that New Year is close at hand.

Before he wonders if he should sleep some more, he hears a commotion and spies Aura and Mare in kimonos, playing a game of karuta on the grass of the 6th Floor, where they match cards of Supreme Beings to proverbs read aloud. "Creating a beautiful night sky" ---Blue Planet, "Disaster"---Ulbert Alain Odle, etc. Aura loses the last round to Mare as she had a hard time choosing either if it was Ulbert or Luci★Fer.

The twins see that Shiro has awaken and greet him good morning. They have been waiting, setting up for the New Year's-like situation with everyone so Shiro can get into the holiday mood. They are not the only ones, Sebas Tian, Demiurge and Momonga are present all wearing kimonos. Demiurge and Sebas Tian hope for a wonderful year and continued support. The New Year Guardian is looking forward to it, though asks what prompted this and the situation.

Momonga explains that up until now, everyone would move only after Shiro's existence became clear, but this time the protagonist's powers related to the Sea of Possibilities have been strengthened, so they decided to clarify Shiro's existence. Momonga was able to notice this in advance, so he took steps to get everyone in the New Year's mood while Shiro was sleeping.

Hearing this, Shiro is touched, saying that it has been awhile since he saw everyone and looks forward to another successful New Year and can already feel the New Year's spirit. The protagonist gets straight to the point, and clarifies their understanding of Shiramochi-ō's visit. Per usual the boss will take awhile to manifest, according to Shiro who can feel it. Momonga inquires the protagonist if he can sense anything similar. The homunculus doesn't sense any "presence" of the entity manifesting anytime soon, either, so he thinks his perception is roughly the same as Shiro's.

Momonga is relieved that they have enough time to intercept Shiramochi-ō. Aura is glad as then she and Mare can take Shiro with them to the Round Table Room, where everyone is waiting for him. Seeing the excitement, Shiro can see that unlike usual, they've prepared a lot for this year.

After Shiro follows the twins, Momonga speaks in private to Demiurge, commenting how Shiro doesn't seem any different from usual. Since there was a change in the protagonist, Demiurge was worried that something had changed for Shiro. Sebas is glad that their concerns were unfounded. However reminds them they can't let their guard down. If so he volunteers to put a stop to it swiftly. Although Momonga hopes that doesn't happen, as Shiro is a rare and beneficial guest of Nazarick. So without any idea of Momonga's and the others' anxiety, Shiro walked lightly towards the Round Table Room.

At the location, Albedo, Shalltear Bloodfallen, Cocytus are waiting dressed in kimonos and golden adornments around a kotatsu. Seeing it, Shiro asks if they are all under the mental effect of New Year's. Albedo greets the boy, telling him not to worry as they did not bring out the kotarus due to the mental effect but got it out to celebrate the festivities. Shalltear adds that Momonga took the trouble to inform them of the necessary arrangements.

Momonga having removed his kimono, now wears the attire of a Shinto priest, flanked by Demiurge and Sebas, though claims it was not something that requires that much effort and used a combination of existing items to prepare for New Year's. Even so Shiro is thankful to Momonga for making the effort. The Overlord is relieved that Shiro still retain his memories, not wanting him to change, or get dragged by the changes in the Sea of Possibilities, but still it makes him feel like he has to check.

Momonga then starts the meeting announcing that a new turning point has arrived for Nazarick. To protect themselves from the raid boss that attacks from the Sea of Possibilities, they have a powerful ally name Shiro. Demiurge further elaborates that Shiro is currently a guest on the 6th Floor, a rare entity, whose existence becomes certain as New Year approaches and fades away once New Year has passed.

Momong takes over stating that up until now, after Shiro's identity became clear, he's been busy trying to come up with various countermeasures against Shiramochi-ō. But this time he has one and has taken the opportunity to talk to Shiro about this matter. He then asks Shiro if he remembers how they spent New Year's together so far.

Shiro indeed does, and first says he cannot forgive the fact that his other self was causing trouble for everyone. He recalls it was because of the "Celebration Ceremony" where he was born. Before that, he received [True Death] from Momonga, so that he could not trouble Nazarick again. These are fond memories to Shiro despite the ghastliness of the situation. Momonga adds that he never though a being who accepted his [True Death] would be able to resurrect through the amazing power of the Sea of Possibilities.

To elucidate, the following New Year after Shiro's death, was a bit of a crisis. By the time Shiro returned, the effects of the New Year phenomenon had progressed everyone was having hallucinations of things like New Year's decorations. Shalltear remembers how crazy that New Year's was, as Cocytus was under its spell and sitting by a kotatsu. And even Albedo mentions Pandora's Actor taking part, talking about a heir or something.

Anyhow, as stated by Demiurge it was Shiro who discovered that the mental effects could be removed by simply making contact with them. Although it was a difficult situation for Shiro, he was happy to realize how important the bond between him and everyone is. Momonga agrees as it was a very useful opportunity, as it clarified many rules regarding New Year's Day.

And by collecting the Seven Lucky God Key Items, a new Shiramochi-ō will no doubt emerge to attack Nazarick and take control in the name of New Year. This condition always awakens the raid boss, so Momonga's plan is to forcefully drag out the entity. White Mochi King is a powerful being, but Shiro also has strength that can be called an event special effect. By performing New Year's related acts together with Shiro, he stronger. However, this also leads to the strengthening of the White Mochi King.

It was during that time when it was discovered that it was possible to make the buff belong to only Shiro by doing whatever Shiro desired. Demiurge elaborates that they made the most of the activities and went to see the first sunrise of the year, which was Shiro's wish. Shiro remembers those events, mentioning that he even had a dream of it this morning, and wonders if it could be a premonition. The memories bring back warmth of gratitude.

Albedo compliments that the previous New Year's visit was a great opportunity to strengthen cooperative relationships with various friendly organizations, making it a great event. Though Shalltear states that if that previous one was that impressive what would be a good way to strengthen Shiro this year?

Aura and Mare then get to the focal point of the discussion, asking Shiro what he wants to do. Shiro feels a strong connection with them all and he thinks he can become stronger. The protagonist also wanting to keep everyone safe, asks Shiro to come up with the best plan. The homunculus, although he was able to recall Shiro's existence before his presence became clearer...when he met him face to face, like they are now, he was able to realize that he was also from the Sea of Possibilities like Enhela Read Gahi.

However he doesn't feel the same sense of "similarity" as he did with the sisters he met at the Grand Arena. Also considering that Enhela made no approach to Shiro, it makes the protagonist think that the connection to Kuyō is probably weak. However it cannot be overlooked that beings from the Sea of Possibilities could cause trouble for Nazarick.

The homunculus silence is commented by Momonga, who comments on his intimidating tone towards Shiro. The protagonist voices an apology as it was not his intent to appear threatening. Though Shiro believes that it's only natural to have an attitude like that as they must repel Shiramochi-ō. Since everything has been so serious up to this point, but Shiro intends to put more effort into this yea. And wants to spend the New Year with everyone doing all sorts of New Year's activities.

Demiurge tells him to rest assure as he is making preparations for obtaining the key items in the arena. As expected, Shiro is happy everyone knows there part. Recalling last time he was able to visit the shrine, he hopes this time he will visit it again. Though he mentions that it would be nice if someone from outside said hello, piquing Momonga a questioning looking.[2]

In order to grant Shiro's desired, New Year's and to check if any further transformations were occurring at the Crack, the Pleiades set off to the Great Forest of Tob. The group were greeted by Kyuko, Hamsuke and the Death Knight, all nonplus by Chaos Adaptive Equipment the maids are wearing, majority of them in the field identities, save for Yuri Alpha and Entoma Vasilissa Zeta. Hamsuke comments that if a test of the equipment will take place.

Yuri thanks the forest dwellers for their hard work. However there will not be a test of the equipment, but instead they came to check on the status of the state inside the Crack. A question is then asked about the status of the Chaos Beasts and Crack. Kyuko recalls that they had been given orders to apprehend anyone suspicious. Though nothing has so far changed to the point even Hamsuke is disappointed in the monotony.

The news pleases Yuri, though tells the forest dwellers to remain vigilant and wants a check on the surrounding area. The three comply, and Hamsuke comments that this search hints that there is a possibility that something strange is happening somewhere. Yuri tells the hamster that this investigation has nothing to do with the anomaly, but a separate matter, one that is difficult to explain. Entoma adds that strange things occur on New Year's which only begs more questions from Hamsuke.

Regi then tells the forest dwellers that if they recall last time when they stopped by New Year’s visit. Though for this year there is a plan to do the exact opposite. This beckons a question from Kyuko on “what” they intend to do the exact opposite of.

Narberal bluntly states that they do not have time to explain, putting a damper on Kyuko’s curiosity. The Pleiades’ cold rebuke though elicits admonishment from Lupusregina, causing the former to apologize.

Hamsuke though simply sees it as Narberal acting as usual, which CZ questions what she means, but Narberal wonders if that is really the case, having no interest in pursuing the topic.

That only highlights the problem as Solutions puts it. CZ feeling pity for Kyuko then decides to cheer her up by embracing the fox. Though it’s obvious the embrace is more for CZ’s enjoyment as she marvels at Kyuko’s fluffiness. The Crack in the forest soon begins to glow. Entoma alerts her sisters and colleagues that their mission is soon to begin.

The Pleiades the get ready for battle, at Yuri’s order. By the end of the session with the Crack, all Chaos Beasts are destroyed. The area now clear of any opposition, Yuri tells her sisters to change into the adaptive equipment. Narberal is selected to head into the Crack with Yuri, which draws a complaint from Lupusregina as she wanted to go into the Chaos Zone this time. But as Yuri said before they came to the forest, they are doing operational tests together, so they know each other's ways, allowing them to work together easier. Anyways Yuri points out that Lupusregina has to return to the Empire. While Yuri and Narberal go inside the anomaly, Solution is put in charge of managing Lupusregina and the other Pleiades. The forest dwellers are asked to maintain guard with the maids.

Inside the Chaos Zone, the two maids so far they see no signs of enemies and continue to advance deeper into the area. Given the recent incident Nazarick as experience with the Cracks, Yuri advises caution. In the silent space, they are met by not even a breeze, and the only sounds made are their footsteps. Naberal finds it odd as usually when they enter a Crack, it's often noisy due to the number of Chaos Beasts, but here is really quiet.

Yuri is actually relieved as that means that there are no problems. With this, they should be able to continue the equipment operational testing without any issues which Demiurge will be relieved to hear. Narberal notes that Momonga is in a hurry to improve the equipment and also wants to give him some good news. Everything looks to be fine as Yuri spot no Kadomatsu Type Beasts or Mochi Type Beasts anywhere, which usually appear around the time of New Year's.

Yuri agrees with her sister and that they should be ready to go back as they have other places to be which Narberal muses that it all needs to be finished by today. This is not a problem as Yuri managed to borrow some perytons from Aura Bella Fiora. If they spilt up then the Pleiades should be able to send out the messages right away. Considering the time it will take for the other party to prepare...it's possible that it may take until the next day.

Although they have a little more time this time, Narberal doesn't want to spend too much time on their tasks, which Yuri agrees as there's no need for everyone to come at the same time, so believes that they should have those who can come early come early. After all this is to make Shiro happy.

Narberal muses about a guest who can make Shiro happy, remember that the boy wanted them come and say hello, but...she wonders, if that is better if he doesn't just say hello? Yuri can only hope they can come up with something New Year-like that will make Shiro happy. The Guardians all dressed in New Year-like outfits. Speaking of New Year's outfits, Narberal believes that they can't expect much from Hamsuke and her friends, the lizardmen, or the dwarves.

Yuri then realizes that Kyuko's outfit looks a bit like Shiro's, and suggests Narberal could ask about it, in that if it's a relic as it looks similar to Nishikienrai's equipment. Narberal while admitting that it looks her creator's equipment finds it a bit disrespectful.

Of course, the deputy leader of the Pleiades acknowledges that the equipment Kyuko is wearing cannot compare to the splendid equipment of a Supreme Being, but when she sees Kyuko, the first thing that comes to mind is that particular person. Yuri feels like some of the equipment owned by Nishikienrai and Warrior Takemikazuchi is somewhat similar to the style of Shiro and Kyuko's costumes.

Narberal is bemused by this though admits that she cannot easily remember her creator's equipment, but to be honest, she wonder what Shiro and Kuko were wearing. This surprises Yuri, but Narberal truly had no interest, and the other maid asks for some time to remember. Yuri comments to other maid that they're not enemies, so maybe it can't be helped. But suggests why not try to be a little more interested in them as she might even find it useful.

Meanwhile, outside the Crack. Lupusregina waiting with the others comments that there has been no call from Yuri and Narberal for rescue or an emergency. There's been no change in the Crack, so business is as usual. Solution also reports that there are no suspicious shadows around.

Lupusregina believes then that they should do the next part of their job, which CZ comments to be the invitations. This draws curiosity from Kyuko. Lupusregina then formally invites Hamsuke and Kyuko to the upcoming New Year's celebration. The pair remember the celebration from last year, when Momonga came all the way to the forest with Shiro. They especially recall the New Year's greeting they all had joined in.

Kyuko found it to be very a pleasant time, remembering the chocolate that was given as part of a New Year's gift from Momonga. The fox and hamster are excited to being allowed to visit Nazarick, even if it is a very important mission, where they may participate with all their heart. The Death Knight chimes in wanting to come, which Lupusregina finds is doable.

However, Kyuko points out that if they all go there together, there will be a gap in the security of the Great Forest of Tob, so who should stay behind and stand guard? For security, Lupusregina tells them that Momonga will lend them summons so there's no need to worry. CZ adds that they should be expected to arrive shortly.

In that case, Kyuko decides that if she is going to Nazarick, it would probably be best to prepare a souvenir or a gift. The idea is agreeable to the Pleiades. And Lupusregina would like Kyko to discuss that with Yuri and the others. Anyway, she and CZ will be heading to the Empire soon. They leave the rest to Solution and Entoma. That being said Lupusregina extracts CZ from Kyuko, much to the latter's protest, wanting to take Kyuko with them.

Shortly after the two Pleiades left, Yuri and Narberal return from the Crack. Yuri reports that there were no changes, just like before. Seeing that Lupusregina and CZ are gone, she deduces that they went ahead to their next assignment. For the next phase, Yuri tells her sisters that they will split up and head to the Azerlisia Mountains and the lizardman settlement. There will be some preparations to be done before they visit, so it's best to give themselves some time.

Solution is fine with that as it may depend on what they do about the dwarves' visit. If they are returning to Nazarick with people who aren't particularly suited to fighting, it would be better to have more guards. Yuri suggests that they use the frost dragons that the dwarves are using, as she think they can get back quickly. That way, they'll encounter fewer enemies and they'll need fewer guards.

Solution finds the work divided like this to be accomplishable. Entoma volunteers to go to the lizardman village. And thinks Yuri is probably better at dealing with dwarves. Yuri has no objections, and then directs her attention at Narberal who states that she will bring Hamsuke, Kyuko and the Death Knight to Nazarick. Yuri finds this to be acceptable, assuming Narberal will be nice to their guests. Narberal complies, given if Kyuko can think of something, New Year-like, which draws a question from the fox.[3]

Yuri explains the gist of the situation...of how a being named Shiro who once called himself the "King of New Year" and swapped blades with the great Momonga. Shiro was once destroyed by the [True Death] unleashed by Momonga, but he was resurrected by the power of the Sea of Possibilities. And now is currently submitted to Momonga's great power and mercy, gathering strength in preparation for the battle with the White Mochi King.

Of this Kyuko remembers and understands. Hamsuke suggests that she will do what she did with Aura and Mare last year. Though this time Shiro wants to welcome people who come to pray at the beginning of the year.

Narberal then expresses that she could not help but notice she and Shiro have similar themes to them and wondered if Kyuko could make use of that to bring to the party. Yuri suggests that what would probably make Shiro happy is if the fox knows some New Year's rituals. Kyuko understands enough and is happy that a new year has arrived, though normally willing to face each day with a fresh attitude.

On this occasion the long-lived fox sees that New Year's is a way of celebrating a milestone. In fact, the last time Shiro stopped by the forest for a New Year's visit, she told him that he seemed to be from a similar cultural background.

Narberal finds the beast is quite sensible, which she clarifies as a compliment to Kyuko. Kyuko goes on to say that while it may not be the proper etiquette, but if that appearance is associated with a prayer for fertility she might having something in a box she hasn't opened for years. So she need to check the condition of it, but thinks maybe it will make Shiro happy.

Yuri tells Kyuko to please do so, before saying she will be on her way, leaving Narberal to be in charge of assisting Kyuko. Yuri, Solution and Entoma then leave to see the dwarves and lizardmen to invite them for a New Year's visit to Nazarick. They fly away using three perytons that have come.

Solution while flying alongside Yuri, asks if it was the right call to leave Narberal alone, thinking maybe she should have stayed. The deputy leader of the Pleiades though views it will be good for Narberal, maybe even encourage the other maid to become a little more interested in the locals.

The dullahan then notices that Entoma to be munching on something, which the other maid confesses its something crispy that she found hibernating in rotting wood. Adding that eating natural things is't bad once in a while. Though Solution finds this to be cute, Yuri hopes that they will arrive at their destinations soon.

Behind them, Narberal then has Kyuko to think of ways to help Shiro gain as much joy as possible. The maid tells the fox to get ready to head out to Nazarick. Before going, Kyuko wants to prepare a gift. A good idea to Narberal, but she warns she better make sure that the offering to Momonga is done half-heartedly.

Hamsuke is on the task, saying that it's almost time for the harvest. She is course talking about the harvesting of the Longevity Nuts, a specialty of Tob Forest. The offering is acceptable to Narberal and Hamsuke and the Death Knight guide the maid to the depths of the forest where the nuts reside.

Narberal goes with the hamster and undead, leaving Kyuko to check on her box which contains Fertility Prayer Costumes. Left alone, Kyuko comments that though it was herself who brought it up, she's been finding remembering the past very little lately. Due to this Kyuko muses that perhaps it's proof that her life is fulfilling now...but still, it's sad to think that she's forgotten. The fox shakes away her unease, reminding herself she afford to be careless. She'll greet Shiro with a fresh start and hurries to the cave.

Meanwhile, on the 6th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, the Guardians were collecting Seven Lucky God Key Items together with Shiro in the Amphitheater. On stage Shalltear as Acidity and Aura as Alkaline announce the winner of the spinning top contest between Cocytus and Shiro. With Shiro's beating Cocytus's top by continuing to move on the board

The general maids in the audience seats erupts in cheers, as they wave glow sticks. The winner is announced by the idols who celebrate the hard efforts of both contestants. Cocytus admits his loss at the game, impressed with Shiro's skill, who admits that it comes from a lot of practice, but tells his opponent it was a close contest and fun.

On que, the biwa manifests due to the New Year's spirit in the air and Shiro's happiness allowing him to acquire it. Watching from the side, Momonga still in his Shinto priest attire comments to Demiurge it was an interesting game. The demon adds that while Cocytus seems upset at his lose, it was impressive how he held his own against Shiro. The demon though considers that maybe Cocytus thought it worth practicing seriously to play top-spinning with the heir.

At this point, Albedo says that Shiro has finished playing lucky charms with Sebas, spinning an umbrella with Shalltear, playing with the hane with Aura and Mare, and now spinning a top with Cocytus, and five lucky items had been collected. The protagonist adds that Shiro seems genuinely happy. If that's what the protagonist's enhanced sense of the Sea of Possibilities tells him, then Momonga thinks that there's no doubt about it. He thinks it might be better to decorate more in a New Year-like way, but--if Shiro is happy, then that's all that matters.

The protagonist takes the opportunity to praise him for suggesting to bringing the Idol Stage to the New Year's party. Since there was a concern that if they did something too New Year-like, they would end up giving buffs to both Shiro and the White Mochi King at the same time, so it was worth holding an event that would make Shiro happy and that removed as much of the righteous New Year-ness as possible.

Albedo comments that at first glance, the idol stage seems unrelated to New Year's, but in fact that's not the case. Though she suspects the protagonist might already know this though. Hearing this Demiurge is intrigued. To explain, previously, when she was researching New Year's events at Ashurbanipal, she found a story in which a character was looking at a scene like this.

What she is referring to a New Year's Live show as finished by the homunculus. Momonga hearing this wonders what kind of book gave the NPCs this idea. Thinking maybe it could be a novel with an idol fan as the main character? Or was it someone's diary or something that had slipped into the library's collection. In any case, it's a word that would never come out in a fantasy world. But it's better than sleeping through the New Year with everyone though the same can be said it being painful to keep lying around unable to sleep.

Albedo heads off to the stage. There in front of the crowd, Albedo does a kneel to New Year, announcing to all how she is pleased that they are all able to celebrate the New Year's together. And that although they have many shortcomings, they can pledge to continue to bring countless blessings to Momonga and to them as well. Thanking them for their continued support this year.

Shiro with Albedo on stage, thanks her for her kind greeting promising to work hard for Nazarick also looks forward to her guidance this year as well. Without further ado, Albedo get everyone started on next the challenge, which Alkaline and Acidity announce is "okakizome" or calligraphy contest between Albedo and Shiro![4]

Back in the Tob Forest, Narberal busies herself in eliminating several Contaminated Beasts composed of two bears and a Giant Beetle with her lightning magic. Her work is thanked by Hamsuke and the Death Knight. Hamsuke then goes to check one of the trees that bear the Longevity Nuts. She then returns bringing several ripe nuts. The hamster explains that even though the nuts are under Aura's care, wild animals and monsters will still be attracted by the smell and will come and try to eat them. However, the nuts are rarely harmed anymore.

Just to be sure, Narberal asks if there are any restrictions on how the nuts can be used under Aura's authority. Hamsuke explains that as per usual all the harvested goods will be presented to Nazarick. This time, the hamster will just be Aura's liaison officer, having received permission to give the nuts out individually for the New Year.

Narberal now understands, and figures that all the nuts recovered by Nazarick were probably being used for experiments...so presenting them directly to Momonga would be a good idea. The hamster offers Narberal to smell the nuts which have a pleasant scent. Narberal finds the smell agreeable musing that the nuts must be a rarity to humans.

Hamsuke adds that when something strange was happening to the Great Lake, Mare tracked it the culprit down, and apparently a person named Sophie who was with him at the time also wanted the nut very much. The hamster touts that the nut is good for nutrition and strengthening the body and is sure Momonga will be pleased with it.

Narberal agrees as even though Momonga cannot eat the nut, he can use them to take a bath and float this them in the water to enjoy the scent. This is new to Hamsuke having never thought of such a use. But Narberal confirms that in Spa Resort Nazarick on the 9th Floor of Nazarick, there is a bath called a Yuzu Bath, which has a fruit called Yuzu floating in it. If one adds longevity nuts... the maid supposes that it could be called a longevity bath.

A very good omen nonetheless to Hamsuke as Narberal climbs aboard the hamster with the Death Knight to be given a ride back to Kyuko. The trio soon arrive at a cave, where Kyuko normally lives. Out comes Kyuko in a new kimono dress commenting on her comrades quick return.

Narberal finds the kimono not to be as bad as she thought it would be, admitting she looks like Shiro. Now that Narberal thinks about it, speaking of similarities...the equipment of Nishikienrai and Warrior Takemikazuchi are somewhat similar in style. Adding that Shiro would have been very happy if the two of them had been there. Though the maid dismisses the thoughts as there's no point in thinking about it.

Kyuko despite being dressed so nice seems gloomy to Narberal. She asks why the fox is not looking happy to the success of the mission, suggesting that Kyuko is not happy about doing something that will benefit Nazarick. That's not the reason, as Kyuko tells Narberal that as she was taking the costume out of the tsuzura, she remembered the people of the land with whom she danced in these costumes. The maid asks more about the tsuzura, which the fix states contains another outfit that she thought she could change into if the one she's wearing now isn't very nice. It was carefully stored in the past and has been left as is, so it's in good condition.

Narberal asks if the items are really that old? In the eyes of the human world, they are thing of the past according to Kyuko. They are works of those who are no longer present and have been forgotten. That being said, Kyuko cannot help but feel sorry for her friends who had left the items to her. The costume is still as vibrant as ever...but for some reason...she had completely forgotten about it. And laments that they were friends whom she treasured so dearly----and children whom she watched over so dearly.

An eternity has passed, so long that even counting it becomes a chore...But she was certainly alive and cherished by them. And yet...feels that she is heartless fox to have forgotten them. Hamsuke says that being alone makes one think about a lot of things. Narberal too understands the fox's feels, as she wants has a Supreme Being who she wants to meet again. However, she doesn't always look back on the past with regret or feel like she has forgotten. The fact that such a wonderful person remains before her eyes makes her and colleagues feel so positive. She has never once thought that this is because she is cold-hearted. Narberal thus advises Kyuko that when looking forward, there's no time to look back. Even if there are moments during that time when she doesn't think of Him, she doesn't think that it is forgetfulness or disrespect.

Kyuko thanks Narberal for the words of advice, promising to be happy and looking forward to life. Even if there are days when she can't remember the villagers. There is no need to regret it as Hamsuke says, as Kyuko is not a heartless person. In reflection, Narberal noticed that when Yuri had mentioned Nishikienrai name, she got sentimental and ended up talking about something she shouldn't have to Kyuko. Though tells herself that she only told Kyuko the story because she thought it was similar, not wanting to equate inferior creatures with the Supreme Being who she want to meet.

Kyuko unaware of Narberal's inner musings, brings out the second dress from the tsuzura. Studying the dress a kimono, Narberal comments that it certainly looks to be in pretty good condition. Kyuko states this is due to the tsuzura, which is painted with persimmon tannins and lacquer using a brush made from a concubine's hair. This has the effect of preventing insects and mold, so the condition of the clothes inside has been well preserved. The fox offers Narberal to try it on, much to the maid's surprise.

Kyuko insists as she is sure her old friends would feel happy that these costumes if someone wore them, rather than leaving them in storage forever without anyone to wear them. Besides, even though the attire is linked to the place where she was once enshrined, it will be gorgeous and she think Shiro will be pleased. Narberal concedes to wear it, if it will make Shiro happy. As Kyuko helps her put it on, Narberal honestly is more than a little interested as the costume is similar in style to the one her creator wore. Kyuko hearing this asks if this person is the one she "want to meet again", which Narberal confirms, thanking Kyuko for letting her try the outfit.

Back in Nazarick, on 6th Floor at the Amphitheater. Acidity and Alkaline announce the winner of the New Year's calligraphy mock battle between Albedo and Shiro. A big round of applause is given for their good fight, as the Fishing Rod appears leading to Shiro to absorb the item. Now there's only one lucky item left that needs to be earned to reach in order to summon the White Mochi King. Momonga sees that the party is now in full swing. The last lucky item is the sansageki. That in mind Demiurge, wonders how this year's New Year's battle with the White Mochi King will be. Momonga though is confident as Demiurge has prepared everything perfectly. So no matter how great a force the boss appears as he will still be defeated.

Momonga seeing Sebas approach him means that all of Nazarick's guests have arrived. Sebas reports that the Pleiades have returned with the guests and states he can allow them to have an audience with Momonga. Momonga seeing not better opportunity permits Sebas to bring them to greet him. He hopes that the invited guests to the banquet will help them relax, rather than making them feel intimidated by the stiff atmosphere. Besides, the Overlord is worried about not knowing how how to celebrate New Year's or greet people.

The butler then leaves to get the guests, leaving Momonga with Demiurge who comments on the timeliness of the guests. Sebas soon returns with representatives from the Lizardman Village, which include Zaryusu, Crusch, Zenberu and Shasuryu. The chieftain of the lizardmen gives his thanks to the Sorcerer King for having his tribemates invited to the banquet. Momonga welcomes the lizardmen as they prostrate before him. The lizardmen having been briefed about New Year's and Shiro, Shasuruyu plans to give a New Year's greeting to Shiro afterwards despite the unusual idea.

The lizardmen entourage are thoroughly impressed by the sight of the 6th Floor, Crusch likening the experience that it's almost like summoning her ancestors, finding it hard to believe that the number of lights available in the area are not hallucinations. Zenberu then brings over a gift to His Majesty, from the village. Zaryusu presents a drink handed down by the lizardmen. It is made by boiling special herbs, which, although it lasts for a short time, brings about a slight intoxication and a feeling of euphoria.

Crusch adds that it's a drink similar to alcohol made from herbs and is used for things like summoning ancestral spirits and has hallucinogenic properties. Once the gift is handed over to Shiro the female lizardman plans to perform a short dance of sorts, something which Zaryusu is looking forward to.

Momonga accepts the gift of local sake, asking the lizardman to treat anyone who wants to taste it, including Shiro. Sebas then direct the lizardmen entourage where the protagonist is standing. The next group of guests are a large group of dwarves and the Frost Dragon Lord from the mountains. Bigosa who's brought before Momonga, is distracted, marveling at appearance of the Amphitheater and New Year's decorations, mistaking it for some kind of devil's ritual.

Sebas not missing an unfazed by the guest's distraction, explains to Momonga that Bigosa is acting as the spokesperson for the Dwarf Kingdom. And that the Frost Dragon had brought the dwarves from the mountains to Nazarick. The dragon is uncertain if he should be present as he was only serving as transport.

Bigosa is still in wonder by the sight of the many glowsticks in the hands of the general maids having seen such magic items. The butler politely dwarf to clam down a bit as they are in the presence of the Momonga. Bigosa seeing he misstep, apologizes, but says he cannot contain his praise for the incredible setting, holding an admiration for the people who built the venue. His words earn Momonga pleasure, as the dwarf then presents the gift from the dwarves. It is a bow. The protagonist had personally come to Bigosa and instructed him to craft the item, stating that it was meant to be good luck to display a bow called a Hamayumi during the New Year. Momonga finds the gift to be very carefully thought out.

Demiurge grows exited and is looking forward to seeing what other gifts the Frost Dragon will have. Hearing this, the dragon nervously speaks that he didn't receive anything from his clan to bring, as he was told to just fly the dwarves from the Azerlisia Mountains to the foot of the mountain, one of many trips he made. In fact when the Frost Dragon woke up, he found that he had been put to sleep and before he knew it, he was in the Amphitheater. That being said he sees the menacing Evil Lords.

The Frost Dragon soon ends up crashing on the floor, begging forgiveness. The sound attracts the protagonist, wondering what the commotion is about. As Demiurge explains that the dragon after seeing all the other guests bring gifts, realized he had none to offer. The homunculus though tells the dragon not to worry, as dragons are originally a symbol of good fortune, so him being present brings good luck and grant wishes.

The protagonist was aware that the Frost Dragon had no gift so he thought that just having the dragon at the banquet would bring good luck, so the protagonist asked the Pleiades to carry the sleeping dragon to Nazarick. In short giving the dragon special treatment. Which Momonga is because the dragon is also the animal of the Chinese zodiac and a significant symbol, which the undead believes the protagonist had extracted from using the library.

The Frost Dragon hearing that it presence is something special is taken aback by this. Demiurge finds this logic acceptable, and tells the dragon to hold its head up high and remain silent. The dragon thanks his hosts and lumbers away, in awe that so many beings with such terrifying auras have gather in one place like this...leaving the dragon impressed by the grandeur of Nazarick, and take in delight that it is given special treatment.

Momonga briefly heard the dragon's mutterings, finding it a bit ironic, as even though the dragon was originally subjugated by force, was it really okay to scare it when inviting it as a guest. Albedo in her kimono arrives back from the stage, asking about the dragon that just passed by, mentioning that it was saying "scary" and "a festival for the strong." Due to this she wonders if it even understands the purpose of the current event.

Demiurge greets Albedo, now seemingly understanding Momonga's now, which he misunderstand as to terrify he guests. To the locals, the diverse culture of this banquet, and the power unleashed by the summons of Nazarick, are all beyond their imagination. And yet, all of this was being controlled by just one person――Momonga. So when they feel like they are being led, they will be filled with a sense of awe and realize how small they are.

Albedo finds this to be wonderful that their guests will be given this impression of their master. Moreover, as Demiurge says, if one were to be invited to such a splendid place, even the proud Frost Dragon would surely be moved to show his loyalty to Momonga. The protagonist admits that the look on the Frost Dragon's face was a sight to behold when it heard it was special from Momonga. And so, Albedo states that all living creatures are fascinated by Momonga.

That's being true, Momoga clarrifies that for some it may have been a bit too much of a shock. And that this is a celebration to make Shiro happy and to vow anew for the further development of the Sorcerer Kingdom. So he asks his subordinates to please make sure to behave so in a way that makes the local people smile as well.

Sebas announces the last group of guests, this time from the Great Forest of Tob. Hamsuke brings a offering of Longevity Nuts to Momonga which only can be found in the Great Forest of Tob. Momonga accepts the auspicious nuts. For clarification, the protagonist adds that considering the nutritional and strengthening effects of the Longevity Nut, if one squeezes out the juice and adds it to the drink brought by the lizardmen, it would make a New Year's drink.

Hamsuke asks why they would do such a thing. And it explained that the drink produce is regarded as a lucky drink, called an otoso that is drunk on New Year's Day to ward off evil spirits--- in other words, it has medicinal properties that calm illness. Originally, it seems that you mix equal amounts of white atractylodes, Japanese pepper, cinnamon, wind-resistant, bellflower, dried tangerine peel, and clove.

Hamsuke is impressed that there are so many things she's never heard of. So she encourages Momonga to use them for his bath. Momonga taking this into consideration remembered that a while ago an extract from the Longevity Nut was put into the Great Lake, strengthening the local slimes...thus he wonders if Miyoshi, his bathing attendant, will be happy about that. Still Momonga is grateful to be allowed an opportunity to do so. He then tells Hamsuke to relax and enjoy herself.

Before leaving to join the other guests, Hamsuke asks if it is okay for her to call Momonga, "Lord"? Being a very auspicious name Momonga allows it much to the hamster's delight. Momonga though secretly knows that this was something Aura had been discussing with Hamsuke, and wanted her subordinate to ask him to consider the request which he simply just ignore such a consideration.

At the banquet table, Sebas is seen working with Pestonya, Cixous and Foire in preparing the food spread. The protagonist guides the esteemed guest from all the associate factions. Hamsuke takes in the sight of the delicacies of Nazarick, as it has been awhile since she enjoyed such a sight. Bigosa already is starting in sampling the various sake available which Crusch also indulges wishing to take some back to the village. Though her husband Zaryusu advices against. Shasuryu enjoying the feast, can see why his brother became a traveler and leave the village, visiting places like Nazarick. Although Zenberu boasts that there is no other place like Nazarick where they have access to such treats.

Momonga, who is sitting with Albedo, and Demiurge at the feast table thinks he can take a breather. A sound of excitement from Shiro brings his attention, which turns out to be Kyuko and Narberal decked in new kimonos who bring hails of Happy New Year which is followed by the others at the Amphitheater.

Acidity and Alkaline approaches to ask Narberal what she is wearing. In response the Pleiades explains that it is a costume that Kyuko wore at a festival in her village where she was once looked after. The truth is, Narberal reminded Kyuko of the past and made her realize that she was truly happy. That's why she asked the stoic maid to wear the costumes together. On that note, the fox mentally comments that she had been viewed as many things, sometimes as a god of fertility, sometimes as a ghost, having walked a long, long journey but now finds herself at her final destination.

Alkaline admires Narberal for this, although Narberal humbly states that all she did was tell little bit about herself. That it was Yuri's advice that inspired her to wear the outfit. Acidity finds the outfit to be pretty well made for something that wasn't made by the Sorcerer Kingdom. For some more backgroun, Pandora's Actor selected some of the decorations and weapons to match the outfit, making it a complete set that's ready for battle.

Kyuko finds the kimono suits Narberal as if it were custom-made--and what's more, she's amazed at how the size is just right. Even so Narberal just trumps it as luck. But even Yuri admits that it's perfect for her. Her other sisters all admit leaving Narberal to interact with Kyuko was the best decision. Shiro comes over and finds the item to be a wonderful formal wear, surprised that there was such items in the village where Kyuko lived. This makes Kyuko happy to have the opportunity to show the outfits off again, thanking Shiro.

Alkaline direct Momonga that the plan so far was to gather "lucky charms" with the mock battle with Demiurge and then Momonga, but--she and Acidity have come up with a new activity. Momonga then announces a mock battle with the two women to gather some "lucky charms". Shiro accepts the change in activity, and participants and told to fight dancing.[5]
