Leinas Rockbruise (レイナース・ロックブルズ) is the only female member of the Four Imperial Knights of the Baharuth Empire.
Appearance[]
Leinas has fair skin, green eyes and long blond hair with bangs covering the right side of her face and a beauty mark beneath her lower lip on the left side. She has a brown string tied around her head, and tied her hair back in a loose ponytail tied a few inches above the end. The right side of her face is described to be in a disgusting state due to a curse which causes it to secrete pus.
Personality[]
Leinas can be seen as formal but aloof, direct and blunt. She’s also self-serving because of her curse and the circumstances after, she made it her life’s goal in finding a cure and do anything to achieve it as she made it clear to Jircniv she only serve him because it is most profitable for her to do so, and will immediately abandon her position if someone else can provide her with what she wants.
Due to her disfigured face, she somewhat ashamed of it and is shown to be envious to the beauty of other women as she express displeasure whenever the men complimented the Pleiades' beauty.[1]
Background[]
Leinas was born to a noble family of the Baharuth Empire, where she earned a measure of fame and renown by defeating monsters and beasts around her family's domain. However, one day, she was cursed after she slew a monster, which disfigured the right side of her face. Knowing her appearance would bring shame upon them, her fiancé abandoned her and her family disowned her.
Afterwards, her only goal in life became to get revenge on those who wronged her and to find a way to cure her so-called "incurable" curse. Leinas's abilities and reputation eventually caught Emperor Jircniv's attention, who allowed her to have her revenge in exchange for joining his personal guard. She use her new position to request the Court Wizard, Fluder Paradyne to rid of her curse, but even his efforts fail to bring results.
Chronology[]
The Magic Caster of Destroy Arc[]

Leinas was part of the envoy that escorted Jircniv to meet with Ainz Ooal Gown in order to make restitution for the invasion force by the worker groups. Leinas became paralyzed in fear and horror when she witnessed the Death Knights emerging from the fortress.
While meeting with Ainz, she was planning to run away from the envoy to save her own skin. However, the reason why she hadn't done so right away was due to the thought that the Death Knights might have preferred going after those who ran away instead.
Afterwards, she feasted with the rest of the envoy on the banquet that was prepared by several Death Knights and Pleiades. All the while, she expresses envy for the battle maids' beauty which was enticing the rest of the men present.[2]
The Ruler of Conspiracy Arc[]

In the Imperial Capital, Leinas stayed behind to guard the Imperial Palace after Emperor Jircniv and two of her fellow imperial knights depart to the Colosseum. Thinking about Leinas's actions until now, Jircniv thinks that she is possibly planning to migrate to the Sorcerer Kingdom after raising her value in the eyes of the Sorcerer King.
Officially, Leinas stays in the Empire in order to repay the kindness Emperor Jircniv showed her. While the Emperor wanted to take the words Leinas says at face value, that was impossible for Jircniv as he doubts her loyalty. In fact, he knows that she is the least loyal of all the Four Imperial Knights and would likely betray him for the Sorcerer Kingdom.[3]

It was mentioned that there were two vacancies in the Four Imperial Knights, indicating that Leinas left the knight order.[4]

Mass for the Dead Arc[]

After the Catastrophe and the formation of the Tripartite Alliance, Leinas volunteered to be stationed at E-Rantel that would serve as the capital of the military alliance. Though her colleagues suspected that Leinas wanted the post as E-Rantel was the safest place to be in the new dark age. In truth Leinas wanted to exploit the new information network that was being established within the three nations. It was her hope that a solution could be found to remove the curse on her face. When Leinas arrived at E-Rantel with Nimble, a young boy threw a stone at her as his father was killed by the Empire in the Annual Wars. Rather than punish the boy, Leinas encouraged the boy to stoke his revenge and wait patient before sending him off. The female knight then worked with Nimble to establish the Empire's garrison at the fortress city and win the trust of the people. When the forces of the Sunlight Scripture came to assist, she met with the commander, Ian Als Heim who impressed her with his strength. After Ian led some of the members of the Scripture to Carne Village to save it from Chaos Beasts and possibly locate a Crack, Leinas volunteered to bring reinforcements, in part to study the Crack for herself she believes that the phenomena may be useful in removing her curse which even Fluder Paradyne was unable to remove.[5][6][7]
Leinas would save Ian and his men in the depths of the Great Forest of Tob from the Chaos Beasts coming from the Crack. The knights would be introduced to the protagonist and his allies from Nazarick. During her time traveling to the Crack, she witnessed the protagonists' ability, greatly surprising her. After the mission was completed, Leinas picked up a few terms from the unknown faction such as the "Supreme One" which interested her. She and Ian would guide the protagonist and the remaining members of his party to E-Rantel.[8] Once back in E-Rantel, Leinas reported back to her camp to inform Nimble of the protagonist.[9]
Some time after the protagonist became an adventurer, Leinas would meet the undercover Nazarick agent again at Vadis Free City where the former assisted her and Nimble in escorting a caravan of supplies back to E-Rantel.[10] At the time of the summit meeting from the Tripartite Alliance, Leinas was stationed outside the city with Nigun Grid Luin and Ian to establish a defensive perimeter around the city. Their lines were attacked by a horde of Chaos Beast, and were pushed back. Nigun led a retreat of the priests and knights, while Ian and Leinas stayed behind to by the injured some time. The two were nearly killed by the alpha of the horde if it were not for the protagonist and his comrades.[11]
Leinas was present on the battlefield when a second horde of Chaos Beasts from the Northern Cave marched towards the city. Fighting with her peers she and the rest of the united forces of the Alliance succeeded in defeating the horde. However the horde was just a vanguard and a another one three times the sixth was approaching.[12] The knight witnessed her emperor make a deal with Jaldabaoth to have his demons slaughter the Chaos Beasts. Once the deed was done, the demon demanded Jircniv's life as payment which caused her and the other Four Imperial Knights to attack him and defend the emperor. Aside from Nazami Enec, who was killed, she and the remaining knights were defeated and rendered unconscious by the Demon Emperor.[13]
Weeks later, the protagonist arranged Leinas to unknowingly go on a date with an acquaintance of his. She was only told that the person was a friend of the protagonist and wished for her to show him around E-Rantel. During their time, Leinas unexpectedly received a complement of her bangs hiding the right side of her face. However before they could get to know each other more, Leinas was knocked out by a phenomena that encompassed the entire city. When the Sunlight Scripture returned to E-Rantel, they found her and the inhabitants to be unconscious. She was quickly attended by Ian who found her collapsed on he street.[14]
Leinas having survived the confrontation with the Demon Emperor, experienced a blow to her pride and self-worth as did her fellow knights. It was only worse when Nazami could not be revived even with the aid of Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra's magic as the knight's body was too badly damaged. Upon returning to the imperial capital, rumors began to go abound about their failure in losing to the Demon Emperor. Though the worst of these rumors were directed at the emperor and how he was broken by the demon and left a shell of his former self. When Jircniv refrained from any action to correct these misconceptions, Leinas and her fellow Imperial Knights approached the listless emperor during a briefing on Zero's exploits. The trio urged Jircniv to come to his senses not just to reclaim his dignity but also theirs. To his amazement she learns that Jircniv had not resigned himself to the insults but had been sacrificing his reputation to lure out the Anti-Jircniv faction. Leinas was given orders to head out with the Imperial Knights to the Katze Plains where Zero, who was actually an undercover agent for the emperor, would lead the rebels directly to them and be arrested. Once all the conspirators were collected, Nimble informed Zero that the worker would be rewarded a place among the Four Imperial Knights after he defeated one of them. Though a time could not be scheduled due to the prisoner taking priority, Nimble told the former criminal to be ready for that duel. After he and his knights gave their report to the emperor they were dismissed. Given a moment to talk among themselves Leinas expressed her dislike of the idea for Zero to be one of the Four Imperial Knights.[15]
E-Rantel would face another attack, though this time from Chaos Beasts invading through Cracks formed right within the city. At the order of the emperor, Leinas and Nimble led a contingent of knights to the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute to protect the researchers. She along with Nimble were surprised to find the fugitive Fluder Paradyne there, however they decided to prioritize the safety of the researchers and contents of the institute first. The knights then headed to the lower levels where Sophie Noia and Nfirea Bareare were conducting their experiment. They should have been safe in the lowest floor, but a Spear Chaos Beast had teleported into the area taking all of them by surprise. The knights attempted to kill the Chaos Beast, but found their abilities to defeat it lacking and everyone on the floor save for Nfirea were slaughtered.[16]
After the attack on E-Rantel, Leinas's corpse was among those recovered by the Empire. Through the assistance of the Sorcerer Kingdom, Leinas was revived which caused her to be deeply greatly for.
When E-Rantel hosted its second Greetings and Victory Festival, Leinas and Nimble accompanied Jircniv to attend. The Imperial Knight wanted to come to the event to offer her gratitude to the "protagonist" for reviving her, but was unable to do so as he was busying talking to the Mayor Panasolei and Prince Zanac, introducing them to Shall, Ku, and Aura. This disheartened her, but she perked up when Jircniv suggested she could attract the protagonist's attention if she performed well at the dedication ceremony of the festival. The first match of the dedication performance had Leinas and Nimble square off against Narberal and Aura though the pair were defeated.[17] Additionally since her revival, she reported the fact that the protagonist was hiding Fluder at the institute, but the knight was ordered by Jircniv to forgot it happened.[18]
During a meeting of the representatives of the Tripartite Alliance, Leinas accompanied Nimble who served as the Empire's representative. At the meeting when it was discussed by Gazef Stronoff that it was indeed possible to cross onto the "other side" and rescue the people trapped there, Leinas drew the question of how Gazef was able to do so as past attempts were met with failure. It was there she and the people in the room learned that Gazef was contaminated by the miasma and was recently cured through the secret research efforts of the Sorcerer Kingdom. And although Enhela wanted to cite the Sorcerer Kingdom for its lack of transparency on this development, she and Nimble sided with the protagonist due to personal and political reasons.
When a plan was made for the Four Kingdoms Rescue Team, the Theocracy revealed that it would be sending out Ian and Nigun, who were recently rescued by Enhela. Upon seeing Ian alive and well, Leinas was joyous to see him. Afterwards she had a personal meeting with Darkness, to offer her thanks to them and pass her gratitude to the Supreme One. Her gratitude was in part due to the curse on her face being removed after she was revived from death thanks to the Sorcerer Kingdom's magic. Having received permission from the emperor to be allowed to repay her debt, Leinas offered the protagonist her services should he ever need it.
A prelude to the rescue operation, Leinas and Nimble later escorted the emperor at a prep rally that was held for the volunteers of the operation. At the feast venue held later, the knight was seen as part of the Empire's delegation.[19]
During the expedition into the Crack, Leinas was shocked at seeing giant sized Chaos Beasts of specialized variants.[20] Later the rescue team rushed back to E-Rantel after receiving word from the Sorcerer Kingdom that enormous amounts of miasma were spilling in from Cracks in every major city in the Tripartite Alliance. Since their unit was the only military force in the area, the joint international force hurried to the alliance's capital to save what they could. On the way, Leinas talked to some members of the team who were starting to think E-Rantel was cursed due to the number of incidents it experienced.
To Leinas rather than seeing the incidents being the work of a curse, the knight saw them as attacks by Chaos Beasts, Invisible Calamities, and even Jaldabaoth, just inevitable events. And although news of the dire situation was received by [Message] from the Sorcerer Kingdom, Leinas didn't put too much faith in the magic as information could still be misinterpreted and expressed hope on her emperor's safety. At E-Rantel, Leinas joined Nimble and the imperial knights in working to contain the contaminated and restore order to the city.[21]
Abilities and Powers[]
By New World standards, Leinas is a very skilled and powerful warrior, noted to be slightly weaker than Gazef Stronoff. Even the Emperor himself noted her to have the highest offensive ability when compared with his remaining Imperial Knights. She’s also shown to be quite agile, as she managed to perform a leap from her horse to the Emperor's carriage while wearing plate armor, while both horses moving at a full gallop. Leinas appears to have some proficiency with a spear as she is seen armed with one while on duty.

Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix[]
Though Leinas serve Jircniv as his private guard in return for his efforts to find a cure for her curse, she made it very clear that she is willing to abandon the him if she ever feels that her goal or her life is at risk. The Emperor is well aware of her potential defiance but choose to overlook it and allow her to continue performing her duties, knowing there is no other forces to fulfill her demand. However, after the emergence of Ainz Ooal Gown and the Sorcerer Kingdom, Jirvniv kept Leinas at a distance and prevent her from participating any of his clandestine meetings in order to avoid any information she could obtain and delivered to the Sorcerer Kingdom as a gift.
Nimble Arc Dale Anoch[]
Leinas’ fellow Imperial Knight. According to Nimble, he has no romantic feelings for her, mostly due to his apprehension towards women and only sees her as a colleague.
Trivia[]
- Leinas has the habit of daydreaming about what to do after breaking her curse. Also, she keeps a "diary of revenge."
- In Mass for the Dead, its revealed that Leinas's curse is what would be considered to be a "bad status" in YGGDRASIL. There appears to be two effects of the curse, "changes to the face" and "fixed changed state". Attempts to use healing magic on the afflicted area is ineffective as the latter effect will remain In order to remove the primary effect, the secondary effect needs to be cancelled out through dying and then later reviving. While the face will remain ugly upon revival, it can be healed easily as the secondary effect of the curse can be removed.
