Overview

Cuisine of the World of 2138

Food and Drink are consumable items found in the World of 2138, YGGDRASIL, and the New World. While the purposes for these consumables differed in both realms, fundamentally they were used to supplement health.

In the case of the World of 2138, the price of food inevitably soared, and raw fruits and vegetables became luxury goods that ordinary people couldn't get their hands on. The best one could acquire was liquid-based food, multi-vitamins, and preserved food. The consumption of insects was a norm as they were high in protein.

Pleiades preparing a feast

In YGGDRASIL there were statuses like hunger and thirst and could be alleviated by food and drink items. For YGGDRASIL's food and drink items, Players used these comestibles to increase their basic stats for their avatars. One needed specialized skills to make food. It was only to be expected since food and drink could grant special bonuses when consumed. In other words, if one lacked the proper skills to perform a task, it would end in failure.

Not only that, but the New World also has its own set of foods and drinks. Their existence and purpose are a necessity for its inhabitants who require them for sustenance in their daily lives. According to some chefs from YGGDRASIL, the quality of some foodstuffs in the New World appears to be lacking compared to the game world.

Fruits and Vegetables

Products of plants that are fleshy, contain seeds and are edible. According to Ainz, the fruits of the New World are not always easy to consume because selective breeding techniques were not well established. Fruit can be used in the art of fruit carving and is practiced by Pandora's Actor.

Apple

A round fruit of a tree of the rose family, which typically has thin red or green skin and crisp flesh. Many varieties have been developed as a dessert or cooking fruit. To become self-sufficient and replenish the Great Tomb of Nazarick’s consumables, Ainz Ooal Gown ordered Pinison Pol Perlia to raise an apple orchard on the 6th Floor of Nazarick. Using these apples, Sous-chef was able to make apple juice though Éclair Éklair Éklare felt that their taste was a bit lacking compared to the apples in Nazarick's stock. In Overlord: The Undead Oh!, the poisoned apple is a central item for the Snow White plays in Nazarick Theater. In the New World, apples exist and are consumed. One time Pandora's Actor ,while as Momon, carved an apple with intricate designs, that was so beautifully done that a client kept it with the intent to make it into a heirloom.

Asgard Beet

An edible root from Asgard and can be extracted for its sugar to make Christmas cake.

Banana

A long curved fruit that grows in clusters and has soft pulpy flesh and yellow skin when ripe. This was one of the ingredients for CZ2128's smoothie at the Pleiades tea break. Later a bundle was seen on a table in Isekai Quartet, in preparation to make chocolate bananas for a school festival. A banana type float was used by Albedo while wearing a swimsuit borrowed from Shalltear Bloodfallen. It was pulled by Hamsuke through the water as the Overseer Guardian rode it skimming the surface.

Bell Pepper

A type of sweet pepper coming in a variety of colors such as green, yellow, orange, or red. One is an essential ingredient in the dish, Healthy Blood Marriage.

Blueberry

A small sweet blue-black edible berry.

Cabbage

A thick green or purple vegetable with leaves surrounding a spherical heart or head of young leaves. In some cases, it can be pickled. In Overlord: The Undead Oh!, Demiurge made a shouryouma of himself using cabbage pieces as its wings. In Mass for the Dead, a plot of cabbages were being grown in the Fourth Wall of E-Rantel.

Carrot

An orange root plant vegetable. Cocytus used a carrot to make a shouryouma of Rororo. Additionally, the plant-type monsters living in the Field of Flowers of the 6th Floor used their abilities to provide abundant nutrients to the soil, which resulted in transforming regular carrots into giant carrots. According to the Head Chef, the produce passed the minimum requirement as culinary material. Unfortunately they don't provide buffs like the stock in Nazarick and only simply grew bigger and sweeter which the Spear Needles enjoy.

Cherry

A small red pit fruit, with a long stem and usually used to flavor cocktails.

Chili Pepper

A type of pepper in Nazarick that was used by Foire in combination of some sweets to make a dish.

Coconut

A large, oval, seed of a tropical palm, consisting of a hard shell lined with edible white flesh and containing a clear liquid. One appeared in Momonga's hand as he was sunning himself with the Pleiades in a Mass for the Dead summons promotion.

Corn

A cereal plant that yields large grains, or kernels, set in rows on a cob. Corn on the cob is a method to prepare corn for consumption which mostly involves, cooking by frying, boiling, roasting, and grilling ears of corn. Lupusregina was seen eating Roasted corn on the cob one at the Harvest Festival at Carne Village.

Cucumber

A cylindrical vegetable and a traditionally used item to create shouryouma.

Eggplant

A black purple vegetable and a traditionally used item to create shouryouma. It is also one of the three auspicious items on New Year's, being Mount Fuji, a hawk, and an eggplant. One was given to Shiro, upon reaching the "first sunrise" at the Azerlisia Mountains.

Fig

A pear-shaped fruit that can be eaten fresh or dried.

Grape

A berry, typically green, purple, red, or black, that grows in clusters on a vine. It can be eaten as fruit, and also used in making wine. A bundle of grapes were included as side dishes for a Gigant Basilisk based dish.

• Kyoho Grape: A type of grape that the Patissier used to make jelly.

Hyueri

A fruit from the New World that grows near Carne Village. Its juice is edible and can be made into a refreshment.

Kinshu

A vegetable that is native to the New World that is from a location called Grandel. However, it is also sold in E-Rantel.

Kutz

A sweet fruit native to the New World that can be made into juice.

Lemon

A citrus fruit that can be used in a variety of culinary ways. For instance, lemon juice is an ingredient for its acidic properties in making Christmas cake. In Isekai Quartet 2, lemons were shown next to a dish of fried chicken.

Nut

A fruit consisting of a hard or tough shell around an edible kernel.

• Chestnut: A nut that could be roasted at a fire.
• Longevity Nut: A nut that is native to the New World and found in many areas such as the Great Forest of Tob.
• Rikiriko Nut: A nut that is native to the New World that grows in the vicinity of the Great Lake.
• Walnut: A large hard edible nut of a tree.

Onion

An edible bulb with a pungent taste and smell, composed of several concentric layers, used in cooking. Onions can be prepared and be used in a salad.

Orange

A round juicy citrus fruit with a tough bright reddish-yellow rind. Its liquid extract can also be used to make orange juice.

• Mandarin Orange: They appear in the Great Tomb of Nazarick during the celebration of the New Year under the influence of Shiramochi-ō.

Peach

A round pit fruit with juicy flesh. Its juice was offered as an option on a lunch menu provided to Enri Emmot and her cohorts when the visited Nazarick. And also used by the Patissier to make jelly.

Pineapple

An edible tropical fruit whose slices can be cut and added to cocktails.

Potato

A starchy plant tuber that is one of the most important food crops, cooked and eaten as a vegetable. There are various species with different culinary purposes and can be steamed.

• Sweet Potato: An edible tropical tuber with pinkish-orange, slightly sweet flesh. They can be found in the world of Alfheim.

Pumpkin

A large rounded orange-yellow fruit with a thick rind, edible flesh, and many seeds. In Mass for the Dead, Mare and Aura cultivated them in an experiment for Nazarick. However, some began to show unusual traits.

Rain Fruit

A lychee-like fruit native to the New World and sold in Arwintar.

Raspberry

A red prickly fruit grown on shrubs. It is a main ingredient for raspberry cookies which are a menu item in Maid Café Pleiades.

Strawberry

A sweet soft red fruit with a seed-studded surface. This was one of the ingredients for CZ2128's smoothie at the Pleiades' tea break.

Tomato

A red, or occasionally yellow, pulpy edible fruit. It is an ingredient to various dishes such as tomato juice. Found in both the New World and YGGDRASIL, though in the latter YGGDRASIL tomatoes are said to possess a variety of abilities like gathering sunlight to explode. Some can even attack you or even glows like gold when cut. Green Hole has a farm that raises tomatoes.

Tsil

A sweet fruit native to the New World that can be made into juice.

Watermelon

A large, sweet fruit that appeared in a Chaos Relic in Mass for the Dead, where Albedo and Narberal Gamma are seen using it in suikawari.

Yuzu

A golfball-sized citrus fruit that originated in East Asia. The fruit is very tart, with little pulp and lots of seeds. Due to its fragrance, its juice is used to make candies, and the fragrance is captured and put in bath salts. Spa Resort Nazarick possesses a bath that is filled with yuzu so that bathers can soak in it.

Grains

Adzuki Bean

A small round dark-red edible bean used in dessert dishes in Asian culture. Apparently Ainz considered using these beans to create ambient noise to concentrate.

Barley

A plant whose grain is used as food like bread and in making beer, ale, and whiskey. In Carne Village, barley was a staple, being used to make porridge. Since coming to the New World, Nazarick possessed its own barley fields whose produce is being converted into gold coins via the Exchange Box.

Bread

A staple food prepared from a dough of flour and water, usually by baking. There are various types depending on preparation and culture.

• Barley Bread: Bread made of barley grain.
• Black Bread: Bread made of pure rye grain.
• Dwarven Bread: Bread made by dwarves of the Azerlisia Mountains.
• Kinako Bread: Bread made using roasted soybean flour.

Coffee Bean

A seed that is used to make coffee.

Pasta

A food made to resemble noodles and made from grains. They can be flavored with a variety of sauces. A dish of pasta was included as a side with Shalltear Bloodfallen's Gigant Basilisk Gibier Steak during the Queen War with Albedo.

Rice

A cereal plant that is a staple food in Asian cuisine. In the Web Novel, rice could be served in the cafeteria of the Imperial Magic Academy. A bowl of rice was briefly seen as a part of Ainz Ooal Gown's lunch spread when he found himself in a world where the Great Tomb of Nazarick was not a dungeon but a company and he was the Chief Executive Officer.

• Rice Cracker: A Japanese confectionary made made from rice.

Wheat

A cereal plant that is commonly harvested and ground to make flour for bread etc. In Carne Village, wheat is cultivated and was a staple in the villagers' diet, being used to make porridge.

Meat

Meat usually refers to any flesh of an animal that is prepared as food. Various sources of meat come from a variety of beasts in YGGDRASIL and the New World. However, while humanoid races, such as humans, dwarves, and elves consume the flesh of animals, some demi-human and heteromorphic races consistently prey on the former, consuming the flesh of humans and regard them as food. In Mass for the Dead, butchered meat was sold at vendor stalls in mercantile centers like the Black Market in E-Rantel.

Chicken

A domesticated fowl raised for meat. Its meat can be prepared in various ways such as fried. In the New World, there is a chicken-type monster that Carne Village has begun to raise for food. In the non-canon Mass for the Dead game, one was prepared and part of the menu for a Yozakura hosted at Nazarick. Shihoutu Tokitu prepared a roast chicken for a private dinner with his associates Pestonya, Clavu, Nigredo and Éclair. And in Mass for the Dead was served for a Christmas party for Blue Roses.

Clam

A form of edible shellfish that are found in the New World. On an isolated island, clams were found in abundance in the reef and were fed on by slimes that adapted to the aquatic environment. Despite having shells to protect them from physical attacks, the slimes used their acid to consume the animals. Clams were also seen in Overlord IV, being served as a dish for a feast on behalf of the dwarven runesmiths that would be moving to the Sorcerer Kingdom, after Feo Berkana was reclaimed.

Cattle

A domesticated bovine raised for its milk and beef.

Death Snow Crab

A POP spawned monster, that is found in YGGDRASIL and guarded a dungeon but is edible.

Deer

A game animal usually hunted for its venison by hunters and adventurers.

Duck

A poultry bird that is hunted for its meat. A roast duck is seen as one of the dishes at the runesmiths’ feast in Feo Jera.

Dragon

A winged reptilian and the highest-ranked magical beast in the New World. In YGGDRASIL, players would hunt these beasts for raw materiel, including its meat.

The flesh of a fish or other aquatic animals. In the New World, fish is a part of the lizardmen’s staple diet. The Cauldron of the Daghdha is capable of producing fish, albeit the product lacks bones.

A creature in the Baharuth Empire whose mutton is cut into several portions, grilled, and put on skewers in the market.

Food Lizard

A reptile found in the Azerlisia Mountains that are eaten live by the Quagoa.

Gigahorn Elk

A magical beast native to the Great Forest of Evasha that is hunted by the dark elves for its meat.

Gigant Basilisk

A giant lizard whose meat can be prepared as a dish by the denizens of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Ignonick

An undomesticated magical beast that is hunted for its delicious meat.

Insect

Some insects can be regarded as edible. According to Ainz Ooal Gown, insects were a food in the World of 2138 and were packed with protein and be flavored with barbeque.

• Cockroach: A black scavenger beetle and sometimes eaten by Entoma Vasilissa Zeta when she visits the Black Capsule.
• Caterpillar: A common fare that dark elves eat and are roasted.

Lobster

A red shellfish that is edible. In the anime it made a cameo at a feast in Feo Jera for the runesmiths in Overlord IV Episode 07, being eaten by dwarf. And for the 5th Anniversary of Mass for the Dead, a Chaos Relic was released, depicting Sebas Tian serving lobster to Entoma.

• Piercing Lobster: A creature that is considered as Nóatún seafood in YGGDRASIL.

Mud Crab

A crustacean animal that lives in the wetlands of the Great Lake.

Nuk

An animal used by the Quagoa as a food source in the Azerlisia Mountains.

Peryton

A winged deer that is renowned by adventurers for its venison.

Pig

An animal belonging to the swine family, domesticated by humans for its meat. Carne Village bought several pigs to raise in order to feed the village population of humans, goblins, and ogres.

Rabbit

A small creature that is hunted for food by hunters.

Scallop

An edible mollusk that was served as an hors d’oeuvre to Enri and her companions. It can be prepared as a salad.

Shrimp

An edible marine crustacean that once deshelled could be eaten eaten fried or boiled. It was served as a side dish, battered and fried, at various convenience stores in a mall and school in Isekai Quartet. And used as a garnish for a steak meat dish in Mass for the Dead.

Squid

An edible cephalopod that have eight short arms and two usually longer tentacles, and a long tapered body.

• Kraken: A cephalopod found in YGGDRASIL and a boss.

Víðópnir

A YGGDRASIL creature that can be made into foie gras.

Vulture

Vulture meat was edible and was cooked as part of the Christmas feast in Nazarick. According to Entoma Vasilissa Zeta, the meat around the bone was the best.

A psychoactive substance that is the active ingredient in drinks such as beer, wine, and distilled spirits (hard liquor). Its mostly produced by the fermentation of grains, fruits, or other sources of sugar.

• Alexander: A drink consisting of cognac, cocoa liqueur, and cream. It was drunk by Éclair Éklair Éklare at the Bar.
• Bearded Lady: A dwarven beer brewed in the Black Gold Beard Pavilion.
• Blue Moon: A purple colored cocktails made from a mix of ice, high-quality gin, Creme de Violette, and lemon juice.
• Clare: A wine fine served at a high-class inn in the Large Walled City. Bets Ku Proun preferred to drink Clare from the Eighth year.
• Cloudy Beer: A beverage served at Black Gold Beard Pavilion in the Dwarf Kingdom.
• Cognac: An amber colored beverage also known as whiskey rye.
• Flat Vamp Air, Flight Frodr 05: A beverage name by Lupusregina in honor of Shalltear's qualities.
• Fruit Wine: A drink offered to Hilma Cygnaeus by her fellow executives of Eight Fingers after she returned from Nazarick to answer for Philip Dayton L'Eyre Montserrat's actions.
• Ilampol Pescatore: A beverage made by Sous-chef after being inspired by Éclair and Pestonya friendship.
• Maiden’s Tears A beverage concocted by Sous-chef to serve to Shalltear Bloodfallen when she was depressed at her actions in betraying Ainz Ooal Gown. Due to her unsightly self-pity at his bar, the cook just mixed No. 1 Blue food coloring with vodka and served it to her.
• Martini: A cocktail made with gin and vermouth, with an olive or a lemon.
• Nazarick (Cocktail): A specialty ten colored alcoholic drink served on the 9th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick by Sous-chef. It's known to be a very popular drink among the NPCs despite the cook feeling it is incomplete.
• Pale Ale: A type of alcohol that Philip Dayton L'Eyre Montserrat was partial to.
• Plum Wine: A wine selected by Éclair Éklair Éklare at the bar.
• Red Mushroom Beer: A beverage served at Black Gold Beard Pavilion in the Dwarf Kingdom.
• Sake: Japanese rice wine which in Momonga's opinion needs to be drunk with vermillion-dyed sake cups and poured from a choshi.
  • Tsukimi Sake: A special drink reserved for Tsukimi, moon-viewing feast.
• Sazerac: A whiskey cocktail made from a mix of cognac, absinthe, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar with ice.
• Silver Bullet: A martini variant made from Scotch whiskey, gin and a lemon twist.
• Spumoni: A Japanese drink made from Campari, grapefruit and tonic.
• Stinger: A cocktail made of crème de menthe and brandy. One was served to Demiurge by Clavu.
• Stout: A very dark full-bodied ale with a distinctive malty flavor served at Black Gold Beard Pavilion in the Dwarf Kingdom.
• Tuarabas: An original cocktail drink made by Sous-chef for Sebas Tian and Tuareninya Veyron.
• Yukiguni: A cocktail drink made from a combination of cointreau, vodka, and lime.

Apple Juice

A liquid extract from apples. Sous-chef used harvested apples from Green Hole to make apple juice and served a glass to Éclair Éklair Éklare and Shalltear Bloodfallen. According to the penguin while it tastes sweet, the drink lacks an impact and is not as sweet as the juice from apples of YGGDRASIL. Apple juice was also a menu item at Maid Café Pleiades

Coffee

A stimulant beverage made from distilling coffee beans. This drink was also served at the Maid Café Pleiades.

Cola

A brown carbonated drink that is flavored with an extract of cola nuts, or with a similar flavoring. While taking a break from building the Monument of Ruin, Aura Bella Fiora had a hamburger for lunch, washing it down with a cola drink. In Hack And Slash Adventure, Cola was a joke found in the tabletop game.

Makyatia

A drink in the New World that can be served iced. It resembles a latte, but it has the taste of Shakerato. Except it leaves behind an aftertaste of condensed milk. In Mass for the Dead, according to CZ2128 Delta, Makyatia is only available at luxury inns.

Melon Soda

A green carbonated beverage that two of the Elven Slaves drank in the canteen.

Orange Juice

A liquid extract, produced by squeezing or reaming oranges, it was served by the maids of the Great Tomb of Nazarick to the imperial delegation from the Baharuth Empire when the came to apologize to Ainz Ooal Gown for the Workers Invasion. And later it was served to King Zanac Valleon Igana Ryle Vaiself when he attempted to negotiate with the Sorcerer Kingdom.

Shakerato

An Italian beverage prepared using espresso and ice cubes. Narberal Gamma compared it to Makyatia. Interestingly Momon believed it to be a drink native to the New World, having never heard of it.

Smoothie

A thick, smooth drink of fresh fruit pureed with milk, yogurt, or ice cream. CZ2128 Delta is partial to smoothies, during the Pleiades monthly meeting, Shizu had a smoothie composed of chocolate, banana, and strawberry. According to Narberal Gamma, it had enough calories for an active adult to last the entire day. When Entoma got blood in her drink she forced her sister to drink it instead so as not to let it go to waste.

Tea

Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves.

• Black Tea: A tea that is dark in color from the complete oxidation of the leaf before firing.
• Green Tea: A tea made from green tea and could have ice added.
• Platinum++ Asgard Pekoe: A high-grade tea that hails from Asgard in YGGDRASIL.
• Red Tea: A tea served in the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Dishes

Aspic

A gelatin dish made from meat stock with bits of meat contained with. It was one of the dishes served to Narberal Gamma by Albedo to train her as a food critic.

Bacon

A type of salt-cured pork, which is prepared from several different cuts of meat. Bacon typically comes from the pork belly or from the back cuts of a pig. It is distinct in that it involves strips of fat and typically served in thin slices. Bacon can be served fried and crispy as a breakfast dish. The Sword of Darkness added bacon to flavor their supper while traveling to Carne Village. It was also served in the staff canteen at Nazrick.

Baozi

A steam bun steamed bun, made from yeast and stuffed with a wide variety of fillings ranging from savory to sweet.

Bento

A single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento holds rice or noodles, fish or meat, with pickled and cooked vegetables, in a box. Albedo prepared a meal for Ainz Ooal Gown for him to enjoy rather than allow him to eat food served at a cafeteria.

Croquette

A small often rounded deep-fried pastry, usually containing minced meat, fish, or vegetable coated with egg and bread crumbs. In Isekai Quartet 2, after a game of dodgeball, the students decided to got and get some croquettes.

Dango

A dumpling made of rice flour and served on a skewer and a tradition food served at a Tsukimi. Sometimes containing a sweet filling or meat. In Kyuko's old village, around the time when crops were being harvested the village children would bring out pampas grass and dango to decorate and eat at her shrine.

Danish

A multi-layered pastry made of rich sweetened dough that is repeatedly folded and rolled, with toppings or fillings such as fruit, nuts, or cheese.

It was among the many foods served to the Homunculus Maids at the breakfast buffet table in the staff canteen in the 9th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Cixous and her co-workers indulged themselves of these treats.

Dried Fish

Fish that has been dried for preservation. It was eaten by Zaryusu from his for his lunch during his journey to the Great Lake from E-Rantel.

Duck Carpaccio

Duck Carpaccio was a dish made of thinly sliced duck meat and eaten as an appetizer. It was eaten by Aura Bella Fiora at the 5th Anniversary of Mass for the Dead.

Einock Mutton

Meat made from the Einock Sheep. The large potions of its meat are cut into several portions and so the fats glistened on the surface, and its grilled portions are said to look delicious. Mixing together with the scent of the meat, the sweet smell of the sauce stimulated one’s appetite.

E-Naeurl Style Grilled Fish

The result of Count Naeura's family research to achieve bragging rights in having the best seafood. The research produced a sauce, made by mixing soy sauce and honey, used to glaze over other ingredients. The heat had to be controlled precisely during the grilling process to prevent the sauce from burning. This said was applied to grilled fish, making its story widespread.

Fried Chicken

Meat from a domesticated fowl. In the Web Novel, Archduke Ainz Ooal Gown served this at his estate while hosting a party for the Great Nobles in Arwintar. This dish later appeared in Isekai Quartet, where the characters discovered that it could be bought at a local butcher near. It became the focus of an argument among the students on deciding which seasoning was best suited for its taste.

• Karaage: Japanese fried chicken that is deep-fried in oil. It was served at a food stall being manned by Ruffian, a character from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! in a school festival.

Fried Golden Potato Slices

Slices of potatoes that have been fried into bite-size snacks. They are a favorite food of Lupusregina Beta.

Gabura Fish à la Meuniere

A New World recipe that, judging by its name, is composed of fish, cooked or served in a sauce composed of lightly browned butter with lemon juice and parsley. This food was a favorite of Marquis Raeven.

Grilled Squid

A traditional popular Japanese fast food at festivals, grilled squid is usually seasoned with soy sauce and served on a kebab stick. It was served at a food stall in the Isekai world.

Ham

Hamburger

A hamburger, beefburger, or burger is a sandwich consisting of one or more cooked patties of ground meat, usually beef, placed inside a sliced bread roll or bun. Pestonya Shortcake Wanko served Aura a hamburger for lunch, supplemented by French fries, pickles, and a cola.

Katsudon

A Japanese dish served on the menu of the canteen on the 9th Floor. It is a piece of pork-cutlet on rice.

Kebab

A dish of pieces of meat, fish, or vegetables roasted or grilled on a skewer or spit with origins in Middle Eastern cuisine. Entoma Vasilissa Zeta once opened a food stand in Nazarick as a way to raise funds in the New World without drawing attention. The Solution Epsilon and CZ2128 Delta found the food to be delicious until Yuri Alpha discovered that her sister used meat from the corpses of the Sunlight Scripture. Yuri then punished Entoma, by spanking her. Both she and CZ2128 were disgusted by the revelation, however, Solution was still tantalized by the dish.

Mixed Nuts

An assortment of nuts that are served as snacks at the Bar on the 9th Floor, when it was being managed by Neuronist Painkill. Solution Epsilon brought them from the canteen and stored them in her body. When offered to Éclair, he decline thinking it be unsanitary.

Oden

A Japanese one-pot dish consisting of several ingredients such as boiled eggs, daikon, konjac, and processed fishcakes stewed in a light, soy-flavored dashi broth. In Pure Pure Pleiades, Cocytus and Demiurge have dinner and drinks at an oden stand run by Sous-chef.

Okonomiyaki

A Japanese dish that is also known as cabbage pancake. In Another World, Alec Hoshin and Pantagruel's golems made okonomiyaki using eggs and cabbage for their guests.

Omelet

A dish made from beaten eggs fried with butter or oil in a frying pan. The omelet is often stuffed with a filling while cooked, and usually served folded over. In the Great Tomb of Nazarick, one of the Manservants at the buffet table of staff canteen served omelets to the Homunculus Maids for breakfast at request. Cixous had ordered one and the Manservant prepared a flawless omelet filled with triple cheese, double onions, and extra mushrooms.

• Maid Special Omelette: In Overlord: The Undead Oh!, the Pleiades created Maid Café Pleiades and had this menu item known as their signature dish.
• Runny Omelet: A favorite dish that Nazaire cooked for Antilene Heran Fouche.

Onsen Tamago

Onsen Tamago or Ontama for short, is a traditional Japanese low temperature egg which is slow cooked in the hot waters of an onsen or hot spring. In Mass for the Dead, the dish was mentioned and showed in a promotional video by Slimeko during the Onsen Campaign, that was promoting new summon material and the upcoming release of a new original game event: Miyoshi-kun Cup / Mixed Bathing Washing Party.

Osechi

A traditional Japanese New Year food that is prepared in special bento meals.

Oyakodon

A rice bowl dish composed of chicken, egg, sliced scallion, and other ingredients. It was mentioned by Pandora's Actor while he was practicing on acting as Ainz Ooal Gown acting out asking Cixous if it was on the menu at Nazarick. It seems that in the World of 2138, Suzuki Satoru's boss's favorite food was oyakodon, but was forced to give it up due to his doctor's orders.

Pancakes

Pancakes are flat cakes, often thin and round, prepared from a starch-based batter that may contain eggs, milk, and butter and cooked on a hot surface such as a griddle or frying pan. They are often served at breakfast and are complemented with butter or syrup. The Pleiades had a stack of pancakes at a meeting once.

Peperoncino

A pasta dish with a sauce made from garlic and onion and red peppers.

Pizza

A round flattened bread dough spread with a mixture of tomatoes and cheese with numerous toppings. It is a favorite dish of the Elven Slaves.

Popcorn

Corn kernels that have expanded and puffed into a fluffy mass, when exposed to heat and eaten as a snack.

Pork Stew

A thick solid soup made with pork. In Mass for the Dead, Malmvist invited the undercover Regi and Shizuni to a meal of pork stew at the Singing Apple Pavilion when they were recruited by Six Arms. According to Malmvist the stew was expectational at the inn.

Porridge

A common breakfast dish, usually made with boiled oatmeal grain or rice, giving it a starchy composition. Various ingredients can be also added into the mix depending on the taste and needs of the consumer. It's mainly a common fare for commoners. The Innkeeper in E-Rantel served porridge as part of his menu to his adventurer clientele. Though a restaurant in Re-Estize makes a customized porridge dish that Sebas Tian ordered and served to Tuareninya Veyron.

Roast Pig

A meat dish that involves the barbecuing of a whole pig. Draudillon Oriculus was looked on like a roast pig by her Prime Minister in her loli form.

Roasted Corn

A food produced by the Head Chef of Nazarick for the Harvest Festival with buff effects.

Salad

A dish consisting of a mixture of small pieces of food, usually vegetables. Cixous at the staff canteen had an onion salad for breakfast. In Mass for the Dead, Albedo and Shalltear prepared salads as side dishes for a Gigant Basilisk based dish.

Sandwich

A food made of two slices of bread with filling in between, either compose of meat, cheese of vegetables. In the Anime it was one of the foods served to the feast for the runesmiths. And served in Mass for the Dead at a feast prepared by the Pleiades Maids.

Sashimi

A dish composed of fresh raw fish that is sliced into thin pieces. Cocytus using his sword skill [Acalanātha Strike] prepared sashimi at a Christmas party for his comrades using a fish he acquired from the lizardmen. According to Sebas Tian the best type of sashimi have fat with it. Demiurge also helped seared the fish meat so that the fat would mix better to the taste.

Sausage

A cylindrical minced and seasoned meat, either made from pork, beef, or veal, along with salt, spices, and other flavorings. Encased in the skin and cooked or preserved it is usually served as a breakfast food. Sausages were served at the mess hall in Ro-Lente Castle. They were also in the staff canteen in the Great Tomb of Nazarick.

Soup

A liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water. Momon and Nabe shared a dinner meal of soup with the Swords of Darkness on their first night as Adventurers. Soup is a standard travel ration for workers as it is a great source of nutrition and possessed a great storage life.

Spaghetti

A pasta dish made with tomato sauce served with meat balls or sausages. Aura Bella Fiora was served this dish at the bar.

Special Menu Item

A special lunch item in Isekai Quartet 2 found in the school cafeteria. The dish had never been seen before. The only information revealed about it was a price tag declaring a price of 3000 yen. It before the driving force for the students to earn money as they are interested to see what kind of dish it is. It turns out to be just composed of rice, cut lettuce, chicken cutlets, fried shrimp, cut fried eggs, pickled radish, and barbecue sauce. The only special qualities it possesses was the massive plate and size.

Steak

A thick slice of beef or other high-quality meat is usually taken from the hindquarters of the animal typically cut into thick slices that are cooked by broiling or frying. Ainz Ooal Gown once orders one of the Homunculus Maids to cook him a steak only to have the maid bring back a piece of charcoal due to her lack of a Cook class.

• Marbled Frost Dragon Steak: A meat dish made from the lion of an Ancient Frost Dragon from Jotunheim. It was served as the main course for Enri and her friends when the visited Nazarick.
• Steak-Flavored Liquid Food: A packet of liquid food from the World of 2138.
• Gigant Basilisk Gibier Steak: A meat dish made from the meat of the Gigant Basilisk. It was served as a dish during the Queen War.
• Hamburger Steak: A meat patty dish made of ground meat.

Sushi

A Japanese seafood cuisine made from raw fish and rice. It was an in-game item that could be prepared and cooked in YGGDRASIL. In Overlord: The Undead Oh!, Sous-chef prepared several sushi dishes to test it as a possible menu item for guests to Nazarick. While the dishes garnered positive approval, it was only until the ingredients were revealed that one of the tasters fainted, causing the plan to serve sushi on the menu to be rejected.

A ball-shaped Japanese snack or appetizer made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special molded pan. It is typically filled with minced or diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. It was served in Isekai Quartet 2 as a snack at one of the stalls in a festival.

Venison

Meat of a game animal like deer, or Peryton. In the game, the NPCs sought meat for their Christmas party. They were told by adventurers in E-Rantel that venison was considered an unparalleled dish. Thus a Peryton was sought for by the NPCs for their meat dish in their Christmas party.

Yakiniku

Japanese term for "grilled meat". In Mass for the Dead, while under mental influence by the power of the Crack, Neuronist Painkill playing the role as a professor in home economics, directed her class to make this dish, and provided live animals: a bear, a wolf, and a vulture, as ingredients to cook.

Desserts

Biscuit

A flour based food product. Sebas Tian brought some from E-Rantel, but they were not sophisticated and were just plain squares. While common in the fortress city their appearance was a rare sight in Nazarick. Due to the current abundance of cheap and fresh ingredients being brought into the city, a food culture is slowly developing there. Thus their biscuits are among the foods being developed. It was said to be harder previously but is now quite soft.

• Green Biscuit: A type of food that Entoma Vasilissa Zeta was seen eating.
• Raspberry Cookie: A baked good that was a menu item in Maid Café Pleiades.

Blood Fountain

A dish similar to serving chocolate fondue, though contains blood and is a luxurious food for vampires. At the 5th Anniversary of Mass for the Dead, Shalltear Bloodfallen suggested having it at the photo shoot in the feast for a Chaos Relic of the game, but Aura considered it to be disgusted and instead ordered a chocolate fountain instead.

• 2.5 Anniversary Cake: A anniversary cake celebrating two and a half years of Mass for the Dead.
• Birthday Cake: A cake served to celebrate on a birthday. An impromptu birthday cake slice was given to Peroroncino by Ulbert Alain Odle to celebrate the former's birthday.
• Chocolate Layered Cake: A chocolate cake made by the general maids made with couverture and cream.
• Christmas Cake: A decorative cake served during Christmas time. In Mass for the Dead, the Head Chef and Pleiades prepared at least ten cakes for their Christmas party, using ingredients like cream, chocolate, lemon juice, and sponge cake using stocks from Nazarick. The first cakes produced by the maids were originally for decoration, but Sebas Tian assisted the women in harmonizing display and taste to enhance their cakes.
• Rare Cheesecake: A Japan-style cheesecake also called "no-bake cheesecake" that uses no eggs. It was served on the menu of the short-lived Maid Café Pleiades. And one was prepared by the Patissier for Albedo's tea party and was noted to be rich and and radiated a refreshingly tangy scent.
• Sponge Cake: A soft and moist cake prepared by the Patissier.
• Sticky Chocolate Cake: A brown colored cake, sprinkled with gold powder.
• Strawberry Cake: A strawberry flavored baked good prepared by the Patissier using butter that was virtually oil free.
• Wedding Cake: A traditional cake served at wedding and usually composed of three layers.

In Mass for the Dead, medicine was disguised as candy to be given to children to cure the illness that was spreading among the orphans. Ainz under his identity of Ain Bell Fior, handed out candy to several dark elf children at the village he visited in the Elf Country.

• Chitose Ame: A candy that is given to children on Shichi-Go-San.
• Dagashi: Cheap candies and food snacks such as Natural Forest Chocolate.
• Hard Candy: A type of candy, it was served at a school festival in Isekai Quartet 2. According to a price tag, it was soda flavored.
• Golden Chocolate In A Bottle: A bottle of chocolate multi-colored pellets made by the Sorcerer Kingdom.

Candy Apple

A whole apple covered in a sugar candy coating, with a stick inserted as a handle.

Canelé

A small French pastry flavored with rum and vanilla, with a thick caramelized crust. In Pure Pure Pleiades, Albedo served this sweet to Ainz whilst he was drinking his tea at Nazarick Corporation.

A sweet, usually brown, food of roasted and ground cacao seeds. It usually made in the form of a liquid, paste, or in a block, or used as a flavoring ingredient in other foods. This was one of the ingredients for CZ2128's smoothie at the Pleiades' tea break. An item that CZ21218 possesses is actually a drink made of chocolate which she shares with Neia Baraja.

There are other types of chocolate, such as dark chocolate, which is said to be bitter, rather than sweet and for more mature tastes. On Valentine's Day chocolate is a medium of exchange to people as an expression to loved ones.

Cream Puff

A pastry filled with custard sauce.

Crispy Delicious Bites

A burnt chocolate treat made by Albedo and Narberal Gamma.

Doughnut

A small fried cake of sweetened dough, typically in the shape of a ball or ring. In the Isekai Quartet world, there is a doughnut shop owned by a character known as Ruffian from the media Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!.

It is also where Aura and Mare work part-time to earn enough money for a special menu item from the school lunch menu.

In Overlord: The Undead Oh!, Shalltear hosted a slumber party in the Adipocere Chamber and served doughnuts and tea as snacks.

Fruit Tart

A pastry made using copious amounts of fruit and was prepared by the Patissier.

Giant Sesame Dumpling

A confection prepared by Demiurge as the prize in a game in Casino Resort Nazarick during the New Year's period. Demiurge made it especially for Shiro during the festivities, in order to strengthen his bond with the New Year Guardian and manifest one of the Seven Lucky God Key Items.

Golden Apple Compote

A dessert made with Golden Apple. It was served as a dessert dish to Enri Emmot and her friends when they visited Nazarick. It could be served in white wine, topped with yogurt.

Healthy Blood Marriage

A vegetable confectionary dish made with a red bell pepper coated with chocolate.

Honey Toast

A Japanese dessert that often served at karaoke bars. It mostly composed of bread, preferably pain de mie and is hollowed out and cut into small cubes. The cubes and the loaf shell are then caramelized and placed into the oven until golden. It is then layered with numerous confections depending on a person's desire. It was ordered by the Pleiades at a karaoke in Isekai Quartet.

Ice Cream

A sweetened frozen food typically is eaten as a snack or dessert. In the New World, it is a high-class luxury that just one would cost more than a day's worth of food to a commoner.

Ice Pop

A confection made of flavored ice on a stick. In Peroroncino's imaginings, he longed to be greeted by a motherly Nekomimi holding a ice pop alongside a Succubus in an apron.

Kakigōri

A frozen dessert made of finely crushed ice and drizzled with sweet condiments or syrups. It was mentioned by Mare Bello Fiore when talking about what ice related things children loved. In the Relic Item, featured in Mass for the Dead, in celebration of the fourth anniversary of the game, Cocytus is seen serving shaved ice to his friends on the beach. Information on this food is found in Ashurbanipal.

• Chilled Chocolate Confectionary: A shaved ice dish, similar to chocolate gelato but enhanced with lightning magic.

Marshmallow

A confection made from sugar. It appeared in Mass for the Dead's "5th Anniversary" Chaos Relic, being eaten by Lupusregina Beta with chocolate fountain.

Mochi

A Japanese confection made of short-grained, sweet, glutinous rice with a high starch content. The Mochi Type Beast that appears during the New Year special event of Mass for the Dead is made of mochi and edible.

• Kuzumochi: Mochi cakes made of kudzu powder. In Overlord: The Undead Oh! Chapter 17, It was served to Narberal Gamma to train her as a food critic by Albedo.

Monaka

A Japanese sweet made of thinly baked dough and sandwiched with bean paste or cream.

Mont Blanc

A sweetened chestnut cake that was on the menu of the short-lived Maid Café Pleiades.

Natural Forest Chocolate

A chocolate candy made from dark chocolate and mixed with Longevity Nuts.

Pie

A baked dish usually topped with a pastry dough casing, containing a filling of various sweet or savory. One was seen at a feast in Mass for the Dead's Chaos Relic, "5th Anniversary".

Plum Confit

A candied fruit dish preserved in sugar. It was served as an hors d’oeuvre to Enri and her companions.

• Butter

Dairy products or milk products are a type of food produced from or containing the milk of mammals. The kingdom of Inveria was noted to host a thriving dairy industry.

• Butter: A product of dairy that can be used to prepare a variety of foods for flavor or as an ingredient such as Gabura Fish, pancakes, omelets. And can be used to cook meat through a process called the Maillard reaction. There was also a type of butter that was oil free made by the Patissier.
• Cheese: A dairy product produced from proteins and fat from milk. The royal household would have at least three different kinds of cheese on them at their table.
• Milk: A white liquid secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young. A primary source of nutrition for humans to consume. Milk is usually a complementary substance added into tea, along with sugar. In Photo Studio Tabula, there is a room containing an exact set of The Milkmaid by the artist Jan Vermeer, complete with a pitcher of milk. The newly renovated bathhouses of Feo Berkana had a stocked refrigerator full of bottles of beverages, including milk, in the waiting room.
• Sour Cream: A dairy product obtained by fermenting regular cream.

Egg

An organic vessel that is a reproductive cell that is produced by females of an animal. Animals that produce them are normally non-mammals such as, every common chickens or even the víðópnir. They can also be prepared in a variety of ways.

Mushroom

A fungal growth that typically appears as a domed cap on a stalk, with gills on the underside of the cap. There are varieties of species of mushrooms some either being poisonous or edible. A few stranger breed like in the Holy Kingdom Liberation Army Base have been shown to be bioluminescent.

• Black Gem: A fungal mushroom that is considered a delicacy by aristocrats.
• Hydnellum Peckii: Despite its poisonous look it's confirmed not to be deadly and also edible.

Tofu

A soft, bland, white cheese-like food made from curdled soybean milk. Ainz Ooal Gown was served this as part of his lunch while he explored an alternate Great Tomb of Nazarick in which it was a company and he the CEO. When Albedo fought against Azuth Aindra, she compared his durability to tofu.

Spices

Spices are substance primarily used for flavoring, coloring or preserving food. In the New World, the primary source of spices is from 1st tier spells.

Demi-glace

A French sauce that was option to put on hamburger steak.

Honey

A sweet, sticky yellowish-brown fluid made by bees from nectar collected from flowers. Creatures such as bears and ankyloursus had a liking to honey.

Garlic

A small, white, round bulb of a plant, with a strong smell and taste and is used in cooking. In the Web Novel, it's used as a counter against vampires. Although garlic itself is not harmful to vampires, poisons made from garlic using alchemy are another story. Jet Testania seasoned his fried meat with garlic. In Mass for the Dead, some garlic was also used as garnish for Shalltear's dish of Gigant Basilisk Gibier Steak.

Ketchup

A red condiment consisting of puréed tomatoes. Ketchup made a brief appearance in the Anime as part of the Homunculus Maids breakfast plate. It was also mentioned in an episode in Isekai Quartet 2. According to that source, it is Ainz's preferred condiment for fried chicken.

Mayonnaise

A thick creamy dressing consisting of egg yolks beaten with oil and vinegar and seasoned. It was mentioned in an episode in Isekai Quartet 2.

Mustard

A seasoning made from seeds of the mustard plant. Cream-mustard could be put on hamburger steak.

Naeurl-yaki

A New World recreation of teriyaki sauce made in E-Naeurl.

Pepper

A food seasoning, made of the hot-tasting powder prepared from dried and ground peppercorns. It was mentioned in an episode in Isekai Quartet 2.

Red Pepper

A type of pepper that is a key ingredient to make peperoncino.

Red Wine Sauce

A type of sauce made using red wine. It was tried by Lupusregina Beta while trying to figure out the menu for a feast celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Mass for the Dead. The werewolf tasted it against red tartar sauce.

Sakuyu

A Japanese sauce called "training oil" used to season sushi.

Salt

A white crystalline substance that gives seawater its characteristic taste and is used for seasoning or preserving food.

Sugar

A sweet crystalline substance obtained from various plants and used as a sweetener in food and drink. Sugar is considered a luxury commodity for commoners in the New World. Their sources of sweetness being either fruits or honey.

Tartar Sauce

A light yellow or red sauce prepared for the 5th Anniversary feast photo shoot of Mass for the Dead. It was included as the main sauce by Lupusregina who insisted on having a spread of mostly brown meat dishes at the feast. Though eventually seafood dishes and salad were included to add more color on the table. It was also included in the dish Gigant Basilisk Gibier Steak.

Vinegar

A sour-tasting liquid used as a condiment for pickling.

Trivia

• A few heteromorphic species are unable to gain food buffs or even need food and drink to survive. Those include but are not limited to: demons, vampires, undead, etc.
• Clavu and Shihoutu Tokitu are able to prepare baby food, as when they secretly helped Nigredo and Pestonya Shortcake Wanko raise the captive babies that were abducted during the Demonic Disturbance.
