"I am Evileye. I am a woman of legend. No matter how powerful my enemy is — I must fight!"
- Evileye facing Jaldabaoth.

Keno Fasris Invern (キーノ・ファスリス・インベルン), formerly known as the legendary Vampire Lord, Landfall (国堕とし), and currently known as Evileye (イビルアイ), is an adamantite ranked adventurer and magic caster of Blue Roses as well as a former companion of the Thirteen Heroes.

Appearance

Evileye has the figure of a twelve-year-old girl. She covers herself with a reddish robe and an uncanny mask that hides her face. Because of this, she is considered an enigmatic woman by others. Due to her short stature, she is called "Shorty" by Gagaran. Evileye's young appearance is presumably due to being an immortal vampire, which caused her body to stop developing at the age of twelve.

Evileye wears her cloak and mask due to her vampiric nature; to keep herself safe from sunlight and to keep herself from being ostracized for it.

Personality

Evileye is considered to be a sharp-tongued person by her teammates. However, her sharp attitude instantly changes whenever someone brings up the subject regarding Momon. Nonetheless, she trusts her allies highly and cares a lot for them. She has a soft spot for Momon, viewing him as a special individual who she is willing to offer praise for lovingly.

Evileye can also be quite an emotional person on the inside, something that she tries to hide from her comrades. Due to her own arrogance, she normally tends to be ignorant of information in her surroundings. The subject of girls talk, such as love tips that Evileye didn't consider important, made her regretful about it upon becoming infatuated with Momon afterward.

Evileye once looked down upon human females who are in search of a strong partner to protect them and their children. She had always considered such trivial thought to be foolish, believing all you need is to become powerful enough in your own right without needing somebody to protect you. However, Evileye's way of thinking seems to have changed after falling in love with Momon and knowing what it is like to be protected by someone stronger than her.

Background

Evileye's Years of History

A recollection of Evileye's past history.

Evileye was originally a Rainbow Eye before becoming an undead. She possessed a talent that allowed her to copy any spell. When she inadvertently copied Elder Coffin Dragon Lord's spell that turned him into a vampire, she also ended up turning herself into a vampire. According to Brain's information in regard to "Landfall," he stated that the Vampire Lord was supposedly wiped out by the Thirteen Heroes.[1] In the Web Novel, the name "Landfall" is also called as such because she made a country her capital and filled it with the dead.[2] This could even imply that she might've been one of the Evil Deities who caused destruction throughout the continent two hundred years ago.

Despite what the stories say about her, she was still alive and somehow ended up becoming a companion to the Thirteen Heroes during their journey together. Because she was a member of the Thirteen Heroes, Evileye also fought alongside her companions against the Evil Deities like the Insect God and defeating it in the past back then. However, due to her status as a vampire, her good deeds were either forgotten, erased, or never mentioned before by human history. Instead, she is currently only remembered as "Landfall," an evil legendary Vampire Lord who once destroyed a nation and met her final end at the hands of the Thirteen Heroes. In the Web Novel, throughout the past two hundred years, occasional rumors made mentions about the discovery of the magical items or treasure maps that once belonged to Landfall.

Around two hundred years after the disbandment of the group, she was found by Rigrit Bers Caurau, an old friend and former member of the Thirteen Heroes. Upon meeting her, the old woman decided to make an unknown bet with the vampire and if she won, Evileye would take her place in Blue Roses.[3] Blue Roses fought against Evileye and defeated her, leading the vampire to become their newest member afterward as promised. While she no longer went by "Landfall," the vampire now went under the name Evileye, Blue Rose's arcane magic caster, as well as the most powerful magic-user in the Re-Estize Kingdom.

Chronology

The Men in the Kingdom Arc

Main article: The Men in the Kingdom I and The Men in the Kingdom II Arc

Evileye is first seen sharing the same table with Gagaran in a high-class inn for adventurers. There, she advises Climb about his current state as a warrior and starts to share stories about the Thirteen Heroes, the Eight Greed Kings, and the new adamantite adventurers that recently made their appearance in E-Rantel.[4]

Later, Blue Roses, Gazef Stronoff, Brain Unglaus, Climb, and other forces move to sweep the eight hidden bases of Eight Fingers. Gagaran, unfortunately, crosses paths with Entoma when she is eating a human arm and decides to kill her. As Gagaran is losing the battle, Tia rushes in to help out her comrade and Evileye appears later to aid them by boosting their chances in defeating Entoma with the help of her original insecticide spell. They are successful in defeating Entoma. However, before Entoma can be slain, Demiurge, whose face is covered completely in an exquisite mask, arrives in time and saves her from getting killed. Evileye's instincts give out warnings that it would be impossible to face the demon before them, even with the combined effort of the three of them. She then shouts for Gagaran and Tia to retreat.

Unfortunately, it is already too late as Gargaran and Tia cannot teleport and they are killed by Demiurge's Hellfire Wall. Just as Evileye is prepared to accept her own death at the hands of the devil, Momon suddenly appears and saves her life.[5]

The demon introduces himself as Jaldabaoth, the two exchange words, and they have a short, but intense spar. With the arrival of Momon and Nabe, Jaldabaoth is forced to withdraw temporarily. During these events that had transpired, Evileye becomes infatuated with Momon.[6]

Thereafter, Evileye, along with Lakyus and Princess Renner, gather all of the adventurers present within the city walls to counterattack the demon hordes rampaging throughout the city. She briefly introduces Momon and Nabe of Darkness who are going to take part in their plan. During the meeting, it is decided that Operation Bow would commence. Since it was agreed that only Momon can fight Jaldabaoth equally, both she and Nabe will provide cover support while Momon fights with Jaldabaoth. At the same time, other adventurers, such as Lakyus and the Kingdom's soldiers, will be the ones to keep the demon hordes at bay until he can finish off Jaldabaoth.

When the operation commences, Evileye, Momon, and Nabe find Jaldabaoth deep within the battle zone waiting for them and suspect it is a trap. At the same time, the insect maid makes her reappearance along with four other masked maids, Nabe and Evileye decide to fight the maids while Momon handles Jaldabaoth. Nabe takes on the three of the maids while Evileye takes on two of them.

Along the way, Evileye and Nabe's fight with the masked maids is interrupted when Momon and Jaldabaoth reappear near their area. Evileye is in awe when she witnesses the ensuing battle between Momon and Jaldabaoth. However, Jaldabaoth proposes a truce in order to allow himself and his demon army to fall back. Evileye is initially outraged at the suggestion as it seemed like a massive insult after all the damage he had caused to the city, but Jaldabaoth explains that even if they kill him, it won't stop the demon army from rampaging the city. This would simply cause more damage and casualties without their master to control them. After hearing this, she has no choice but to accept Jaldabaoth's proposal before his army causes more damage to the city. The Demon God King, along with his masked maids and his demon army, are allowed to retreat.

After the battle is over, Evileye leaps with joy and hugs Momon in gratitude for saving the city. After that everyone gathers around Momon and shouts at the top of their voice in recognition of their victory.[7] By morning, Momon and Nabe are forced to return to E-Rantel since the mission is over. Evileye, along with other members of Blue Roses and Marquis Raeven, is present to send him off. While she is wondering if she will ever see him again, Gagaran takes a minute to remind Evileye that she could have just gone with Momon to E-Rantel under the pretense of guarding him and set up a teleportation point in E-Rantel just to enable herself to see him whenever she wanted. Having realized the truth in Gagaran's words, Evileye screams in anger at the sight of Momon leaving while the rest of Blue Roses laugh at her dilemma.[8]

Evileye is hired by Renner to accompany her for the ride. Renner tells Evileye that she is planning to inspect the new orphanage she had opened. Afterward, Evileye escorts her, along with Tina and Climb, in the carriage while taking them back to the palace. Inside the carriage, they are shown discussing the current crisis in the Re-Estize Kingdom, the formation of the Sorcerer Kingdom, the loss of Gazef Stronoff, and that her beloved Momon is under the rule of a tyrant.[9] During the journey, Tina asks her if she can kill the Sorcerer King, which she honestly replies that she cannot and that someone like him possesses the power of the gods.

The Paladin of the Holy Kingdom Arc

During the meeting with Remedios and Gustav, Evileye tries drawing a sketch of Jaldabaoth's appearance from her encounter with him to identify what he looks like. Realizing that the drawing by Evileye is horribly done, one of the twins from Blue Roses intervenes and does the sketch in her stead.

At the same time, Evileye estimates Jaldabaoth's power level to be around two-hundred at most, although she can't validate it herself as he is too powerful for her own understanding. Additionally, the members of Blue Rose explain that it was actually Momon who managed to fight off the Demon Emperor and not them.

Afterward, Remedios asks if Momon used a special item to defeat him. Evileye dismisses that idea, since she saw partly some of the fight happening between the two while fighting against the demon maids. Moreover, Remedios questions Evileye if whether or not Jaldabaoth had a weakness that was the sole reason for his defeat back then. Evileye stated if Jaldabaoth did have a weakness, then it could've explained how and why Momon was able to defeat him in the first place.

Nevertheless, the meeting came to an end with all of the members of Blue Roses, including herself, refusing to assist the Holy Kingdom in stopping Jaldabaoth. On the other hand, Evileye recommends Momon as being qualified for the task because he is the only person who managed to thwart the demon's plan in conquering Re-Estize. She states that their group couldn't have done it without his help. She also corrects Remedios' choice of words when referring to her love interest as Momon-sama, which the latter properly addresses that way afterwards.[10]

The Witch of the Falling Kingdom Arc

When Blue Roses is invited to a meeting location by someone unbeknownst to them, Evileye is the first to ask Lakyus why she doesn't want to bring them, including herself, along. This kind of conversation persists even until they reach the location where the meeting is to be held. Evileye and everyone else present are told by Lakyus once again to let her be alone with her uncle, Azuth Aindra of Red Drop, for the meeting. Feeling baffled and dumbfounded by her leader's request, Evileye, as the other members of Blue Roses' representative, voices her displeasure that they have already come this far and that it is already too late to turn back now for them. In the end, Lakyus has no other choice but to accept Evileye and the rest of her companions' resistance, letting them join in on the meeting with Azuth.

Upon meeting her leader's uncle, Evileye is the first to belittle Azuth's current mentality due to his inappropriate behavior around the women he is with. She reprimands him as a supposed man-child who downplays himself as a hero publicly in front of them. Furthermore, she calls Azuth out that the reason why he had chosen to abandon his status as a noble and chose the life of an adventurer was precisely because of him being the type of person that he still is. After saying the words that she felt needed to be said, Evileye uses a [Charm Person] spell on the two women and has them forcefully leave the meeting room under her orders.

After several members of the Black Scripture arrive at the scene, she and Lakyus are shocked to hear from Azuth that such powerful people came from the Slane Theocracy. After the 5th Seat of the Black Scripture acknowledges her to be as strong, if not stronger, than himself, she says that is not true for her whatsoever when there are other powerful beings like the fiend Jaldabaoth and a human like Momon who are far above her level. At the same time, this leads her to start mumbling to herself about whether Nabe counts as being stronger or weaker than her.[11]

Days later, when the capital Re-Estize is already surrounded by the Sorcerer Kingdom's forces, Evileye and the rest of the members from Blue Roses meet with Renner, Climb, and Brain in the palace. Evileye tells Lakyus that they have enough time to drink some tea together. She reasons with Lakyus that they shouldn't cruelly refuse the princess's offer for tea as she has been so gracious to welcome them into the room without warning. She makes Gargaran go along with her ploy, making Lakyus believe that they are simply drinking tea out of kindness for Renner, who offered it to them.

Once Lakyus takes a sip of the drugged tea and gets attacked by Gargaran and Tia, Evileye, who is holding a crystal shortsword, threatens Climb within her range to not make a move on Blue Roses. While Evileye keeps Climb at bay, Gagaran and Tia continue beating up an unequipped Lakyus in front of them. Once their leader is in a weakened state, Evileye uses [Resist Weakening] and [Charm Person] on Lakyus, whereby she obeys her order to leave Re-Estize with the rest of Blue Roses. After Tina comes back, they head back to the inn with [Teleportation], pick up Lakyus’ equipment, and teleport out of the Royal Capital. She and the members of Blue Roses then travel southeast, where, very far away, lies Inveria, which is their intended destination to go to.[12]

Mass for the Dead Arc

While back at the Royal Capital, whilst Lakyus and Gagaran went to meet the princess, Evileye went to the royal palace's library to research about the Cracks. However, none of the library' secrets were able to shed any light on who could have caused the changes in the world. The magic caster then snuck out of the palace to the outskirts of the city and located a Contaminated Beast which she then proceeds to study and dissect. She also comes across a Chaos Beast and kills it before claiming its Chaos Stone. After returning to the palace, Evileye used the residue from the stone as a catalyst for a new spell though she was on the fence on what to name it.[13]

Her study is interrupted by Gagaran who wants some company to drink with. She is reluctantly dragged to a bar where they meet Brain Unglaus, where she witnessed Gagaran attempts to flirt with the mercenary. The two eventually return to the palace where Lakyus and the rest of Blue Roses informs they that they have a new job, which is to recover a mine infested with monsters.[14] Her team joins up with the protagonist and Surako who were sent as auxiliaries. What was supposed to be a simple search and destroy mission turns into something darker when Evileye discovers traces of a ritual for summoning demons took place in the mine. Rather than retreat the adventurers head deeper into the mine to slay Abyss Demon. However, after he is defeated, the mine is filled with poison gas forcing the adventurers to retreat. Though they failed in recovering the mine, the adventurers believe it to be a victory as they destroyed the den of a demon.[15]

Evileye and her team would work with the protagonist again in E-Rantel to uncover the cause of the many disappearances among the refugees. It was soon traced to the E-Rantel's Cemetery, where the adventurers found Six Arms to be working with Zurrernorn to begin their Death Spiral. The ploy was stopped though Zero managed to escape capture.[16] The magic caster worked with her team to locate the criminal but were unable to find in the city. When a horde of Chaos Beasts threw the city into a panic, Evileye joined in the defense of the city to protect the residents whilst the protagonist and his team engaged the leader of the horde.[17]

On another mission, Evileye's team at the request of Renner went to a distant seaside village to retrieve several sets of armor from a dwarf named Tsuibayaya. Coincidentally they met up with the protagonist his team who were also looking for the dwarf blacksmith. Evileye noticed Narberal Gamma as a new face among the protagonists' companions. After introducing each other and finding that the dwarf blacksmith was absent at his home, the adventurers followed his trail to the coast. Scouring the beaches the two parties eventually located Tsuibayaya and save him from several Giant Crustaceans. Though they saved his life the craftsman refused to return to the village to give them the armors as he was on a personal mission of his own to locate the Legendary Mermaid for his masterpiece. The adventurers managed to make a compromise in that they would locate the being for him in his stead as he was not fit to travel on a dangerous mission. Evileye would escort him back to his home where he would wait until they returned with scales from the mermaid. Before the dwarf left, he gifted the members of Blue Roses with the exception of Evileye their own swimsuit believing that the equipment would be better suit for the environment. After Evileye returned the blacksmith to his home, she was given her own swimsuit from his workshop and later regrouped with the others. The teams managed to decipher the riddle about the Legendary Mermaid and after they duel the entity acquired the scales. The adventurers returned back to village and presented it to Tsuibayaya who used it to create the Sage's Swimsuit. In gratitude he gave the requested armors and even the swimsuit to Gagaran, though Evileye and the rest of her teammates believed it was in bad taste.[18]

After Gazef Stronoff and a contingent of warriors vanished near the area where a horde of Chaos Beasts originated, Evileye was part of the recovery team. They located a cave where Gazef last reported and found it to be guarded by two Spear Chaos Beasts. The armor of the two were near impenetrable, but Evileye managed to soften one monster's armor with acid, allowing Brain to kill it.[19] With the mouth of the cave secured, Evileye stayed with the rest of Blue Roses and Brain to guard the entrance while the protagonist and his team ventured underground to locate the Warrior Captain.[20]

The magic caster was among those that watched in shock when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth and his minions defeated a horde of thirty thousand Chaos Beasts that were threatening E-Rantel. When the demons bean to pillage the city, Evileye joined her team in the city's defense, fighting against the Demon Maids She later witnessed the a black armored warrior rescue Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix from execution and confirmed it to be the protagonist after he removed his helmet.[21]

A few weeks after the attack, the city of E-Rantel was beginning to heal. To raise the spirits and also the amount of defenders for the Kingdom. the protagonist organized an adventurer tournament. Evileye came to participate at the invitation of the protagonist. A day before the start of the tournament she and her team met with the organizer and his assistant to touch base on the event. She noted that the new adamantite adventurer was keeping things interesting and after a brief discourse with the members of the Sunlight Scripture, was honestly surprises how well the human supremacists were taking the integration of demi-humans in the city.[22] Evileye would be interested in two new aspiring adventurers, Shall and Ku, participating in the tournament. Due to Shall's background as a former noble she related to her and in the third match she volunteered to fight against them to determine their strength. In the match she defeated them but was impressed by their power. Evileye would join her team in fighting against Shall and Ku in the seventh match and later against the "Dark Warrior". When Shall and Ku declined to become adventurers, wanting to do some more traveling and also to remove Shall's curse in unable to use magic, it made sense to Evileye.[23]

Evileye would join her team and the protagonist in investigating Re-Blumrushur to see if Marquis Blumrush was responsible for a string of disappearances of brides seeking to answer his solicitation to be his wife. To gather evidence Evileye was asked to be one of the infiltrators and pose as a bride candidate as she was the only member of Blue Roses who face the noble had not seen. The magic caster rejected the idea as she did not want to be one stupid woman who chased after their knights. She was finally convinced by Narberal after she was reminded of her professionalism and also to use it as a test to prove she was nothing like those weak women. Evileye took the alias as "Iville" and was joined by Narberal who went under the name of "Nabe". Together they entered the bridal test and after they took it went into their carriage to be intentionally captured. Once they were brought to the bandits' hideout and found the surviving women, among them being Kuuderika and Ureirika, the two adventurers fought against their captors and broke free. They encountered the former members of Six Arms, Davernoch and Edström, the latter which was defeated by Evileye. Once Narberal gave their other teammates the proof they needed to arrest Blumrush, she and her partner met up with the others in the mine near the city where they found that one of Jaldabaoth's minions, Evil Lord Greed was seemingly behind the plot.

After the mine collapsed, Evileye and her friends enjoyed their victory and also found herself being teased by her teammates on how cute she looked in her bridal gown. While Evileye maintained that she had zero interest in falling in love, secretly she fantasized about having a wedding and being led to her vows by her own knight.[24]

Some time after the city was saved from the Demon Emperor, Evileye and her team escorted an armed force of the Kingdom to reinforce the barriers around the Northern Cave. She kept the protagonist informed of their progress as he had been designated as the new guardian of E-Rantel.[25] Later Evileye's team were contract to do a job for a noble to retrieve his stupid son at an illegal gambling hall outside of E-Rantel. To her embarrassment Evileye had to wear a bunny girl costume along with Lakyus to infiltrate the hall. While heading to the location, she and Lakyus wore their costumes, and the group encountered some Chaos Beasts forcing them to fight them off before continuing on. During the job, the target got too physical with Evileye's almost causing an incident and nearly blowing her cover.

On the way back to E-Rantel, her team were contacted by Princess Renner who relayed a message from the protagonist that a group of strangers were impersonating them. Not only that she and Lakyus's forms in their costumes were out in about in public. Evileye took offense to the theft of her identity especially in that outfit by her fake and swore to get some payback when she found them.[26]

Over tea, Evileye would discuss about the progress in E-Rantel made by the protagonist with Renner, Lakyus and Climb on how the citizens of the old section of the city were beginning to recover from the trauma from the Demon Emperor. The discussion then turned to how the Adventurer's Guild were using the image of the protagonist's "Dark Warrior" persona by making dolls of him, though Evileye did not understand the appeal. Since many of her comrades were busy on other assignment, Evileye was volunteered by Lakyus to investigate the news about a new illness affecting the children in E-Rantel.

A few days later Evileye was seen in the backstreets of E-Rantel to meet with the orphans under Clementine's care. Due to her mask frightening the children when she tried to interact with them before, Evileye handed out dolls and sweets to appease their fears. While the children were busy enjoying the gifts, the adventurer spoke to Clementine on the health of the children. From her she learned that the children were being afflicted by the disease and while not deadly it weakened their constitution. Worse the children's guardians alienated them by keeping them out of the house in fear of getting sick, rather than letting them stay inside to recuperate and stay warm during the winter. Nemu Emmot who was present in group overheard their conversation and confirmed that many of the children she played with her all affected. from the girl, Evileye knew she was a ward of Lizzie Bareare and that Nfirea Bareare a renowned genius may hold the key to the illness by making a medicine using the Fruit of Longevity, however was disappointed to learn that Nemu did not wish to involve him as the boy was already overworking himself.

Evileye would be at the Adventurer's Guild where she found Surako about formally post a job on information on an entity known as the "Red Shadow" that was seen lurking on the rooftops of the city at night. Furious Evileye demanded to know why Surako was putting out something like that to the guild. Surako was forced to call her teammates in Darkness to return to E-Rantel where Evileye berated the adventurers for putting a bounty out. In a private room, Evileye explained that the "Red Shadow" was herself as she was sneaking at night to interview the children on the sickness spreading in the city. She was trying to avoid being seen as no one could know about her involvement since this job was not officially sanctioned by the guild and if found out could lead to ramifications on her reputation. However, her interactions with the children were less than stellar as the children were frightened by her appearance so she had to use gifts to bribe them. Evileye shared her mission with the protagonist and allies, and both agreed that something must be done to cure the disease but unfortunately could not act unless there was some push from the city's administration. First though, the adventurers agreed to a story to retract the request seeking the "Red Shadow" so Evileye would not be penalized. When Pluton Ainzach came to check on their meeting, the adamantite adventurers gave him a false explanation that they were comparing notes on the prototype products Evileye shared with the children in the city. It was enough to fool Ainzach who then show cased some new dolls of Soi, which Evileye frowned upon as it was capitalizing on the images of adventurers for profit.

A push for action to resolve the disease came from Nfirea who requested escorts to the Tob Forest to acquire the Fruit of Longevity. Both Darkness and Evileye present volunteered to assist as the matter was a critical step to the city's recovery. And though adamantite adventurers were expensive to hire, Ainzach permitted the use of discounts for the request as it was an invest for the city's future. The adventurers and pharmacist then journeyed to the forest where they met with Hamsuke who in turn guided them to the tree which the fruit they sought grew. Together with Nfirea and Darkness they overcame the various monsters in their path and finally acquired the fruit.

Back in E-Rantel, Evileye, Soi and the protagonist came up with a plan to distribute the medicine, now in the form of candy, to the many children of the city without reprimand by the temple for violating the rule of using recovery items for free. Evileye, Soi and one other would dress up in red costumes, using the populace's ignorance of the identity of the "Red Shadow", to their advantage and sneak at night throughout the city to give the children the free gifts and candy. Evileye was skeptical of the initiation of the plan but decided that it was risk to take. To ensure that all went well, Evileye removed her mask so that the children would be less wary of her when she approached them. It mattered little as no one knew what her real face was so her identity would still be intact.[27]

Evileye wanting to ease the protagonist's burden in running the city, volunteered to help patrol the city during E-Rantel's Harvest Festival. Since the event was going by a Halloween theme from the Sorcerer Kingdom, Evileye was given a scantily mummy costume much to her embarrassment. She grew even more annoyed when Tina and Tia duped her into wearing it, claiming it was undercover work and then abandoning her in the crowd. During the festivities, Evileye along with Narberal attract a lot of attention from children due to their eccentric costumes. From the protagonist she was surprised to learn that the origins of the theme of the festival originated from the Boastful Sage. Later she and Narberal became a team in a mock combat against Aura and Mare with the prize of a Longevity Nut on the line. After the demonstration she was reunited with the twins in her adventurer team, who congratulated her, but the magic caster was still peeved that they left her behind, and promised that they will wear costumes like she did in the next Harvest Festival.[28]

During the dead of night, Evileye and her team were alerted about a possible plot by the remnants of Zurrernorn. To search for any leads, the team of Darkness was volunteered by Soi to investigate E-Rantel's Cemetery, whilst Blue Roses took the sewers which the magic caster assumed that the assassin selected the former first to avoid going into the sewage.

In the sewers her team came across a hidden room that they were told by Darkness, but found it to be in disuse. Her teammates were disappointed in the lack of activity they found so far, but Evileye was sure that the cultists were present either in the sewers or the cemetery. They did note that the sewers seem to be devoid of sanitary slimes. While a few of her teammates believed it was due to a recent adventurer team culling the numbers, Evileye was not so sure as there was no way that the slimes could be cleaned out this effectively.

Evileye's hunch of Zurrernorn being in the sewers was proven to be correct as Blue Roses spotted a group of them pouring some sort of liquid into the water tank. While her team suspected that the cultists were pouring poison into the water, Evileye noticed that if that were the case they would be pouring upstream rather than downstream of the sewage system.

Her team then engaged the cultists in order to apprehend them, but the magic casters all chose to kill themselves to feed a Super Giant Sanitary Slime that they created as a final plan to destroy E-Rantel. To the shock of Evileye she realized that the slime was emitting Negative Energy and turning the dead cultists into undead. The monster attacked Tia and Tina, causing Evileye and Gagaran to defend them. Due to the viscous nature of the slime and watery environment, Blue Roses was at a severe disadvantage.

Evileye use her magic to teleport her friends out of the sewers. She planned to call for the Sunlight Scripture, when the group felt a rumbling that indicated the slime was ready to break out of the depths of the underground. Before it broke out, Soi appeared with a vial of "anti-slime agent" and drove it back.

After regrouping with the other city defenders, Evileye and the others were updated by the protagonist on a plan to defeat the slime. In order for it to work, it was recommended that she and her comrades forgo their usual equipment and use not just the agent but also their swimwear. Evileye was part of the team, composed of herself, Blue Roses, minus, Gagaran, Soi and Saint Clementine to track and kill the monster. Once the cleansing of the slime was done, Evileye and her peers addressed the people in the city square who were curious about the increased military patrol, and gave a cover story of doing a routine sewer cleaning to keep them calm. Her appearance in her swimwear would lead to interest in the item.[29]

Blue Roses would participate in a joint operation between adventurers and E-Rantel's authorities against brokers dealing in child trafficking. They were assigned by Guildmaster Ainzach to infiltrate the base of the brokers and cause a ruckus. At the start of the operation, Evileye with her team entered into the base to take care of the rest of the criminals.[30]

At the time when E-Rantel was being overrun by Chaos Beasts emerging from several Cracks that had formed in the area, Evileye was reported to be trying to defend the city with her team.[31]

After the disaster, a new Greetings and Victory Festival was hosted in order to brighten the citizens of E-Rantel that was still recovering from the trauma. For the event, Evileye dressed up as a mummy, and even reunited with Shall and Ku, who were the guests of honor for the festival. Afterwards she and her team participated in the final battle of the dedication demonstration, fighting against, Shall, Ku, Narberal, Aura and Soi leading to an epic draw.[32]

Later Evileye and her team accepted a job from Prince Zanac to rescue the missing Princess Renner, after communication with a team of elite warriors from the Kingdom who were sent to Carne Village to retrieve her was cut. There Blue Roses were horrified to find the refugee camp that Renner set up was destroyed and that there was evidence she was dead and committed suicide. The official status of the princess was ordered by the prince to remain as missing as news of her demise would destroy the king and further demoralize the people. Lakyus still sadden by her friend's death, saw to Evileye wearing a formal dress to amuse the children while handing out candy during the festival celebrating E-Rantel's reconstruction to cheer her up.[33]

Some months later, while at a bar with her teammates, Evileye commented on the upcoming pep rally in prelude to the rescue operation to the "other side" of the Crack, that the equipment promised by the Sorcerer Kingdom was ready. Though the equipment was tested, she worried that should the operation fail the Sorcerer Kingdom could be pushed to a corner. Later she attended the formal ceremony of the pep rally and later the feast.[34]

Evileye joined the Four Kingdoms Rescue Team to delve into the "other side" of the Crack to rescue a hundred people. Whilst listening to a rallying speech by Gazef Stronoff, Evileye got annoyed by Gagaran interrupting when the Warrior Captain was giving an orientation of the dangers of the other realm. She claimed that it was due to her interest in magical development, but Gagaran teased her that the real reason why she was so worked up for this mission was to find hopefully Climb who had gone missing around the time of the invisible disaster.

While fighting Chaos Beasts with the rescue team, Evileye was impressed on how strong Gazef got, after being cured by the Sorcerer Kingdom, causing her to want to look at the other nation's research. Later after the rescue team broke through a horde of giant-sized Chaos Beasts, the army escaped by across to Re-Estize Kingdom, where Evileye and her team finally rested and joked about their ordeal.[35]

Later the rescue team rushed back to E-Rantel after receiving word from the Sorcerer Kingdom that enormous amounts of miasma were spilling in from Cracks in every major city in the Tripartite Alliance. Since their unit was the only military force in the area, the joint international force hurried to the alliance's capital to save what they could.

On the way Evileye noted to her peers of the numbers of attacks E-Rantel experienced, wondering if the city was cursed. Though this time with the world experience another tragedy, she voiced perhaps the world was cursed.

At E-Rantel, Evileye did an aerial surveillance from above to map out the areas where the miasma was thickest and thinnest to allow her allies to navigate safety through. She provided all this information to Tina who them disseminated it to the rest of the team.[36]

Abilities and Powers

Evileye is shown to be a very powerful arcane magic caster as her power has been able to damage one of the Pleiades, Entoma Vasilissa Zeta. However, as an Elementalist who specializes in earth element magic, she is more susceptible to damage from attacks that would counter her element. In fact, Evileye suffers from being hyper-specialized even amongst other elementalists, focusing mainly on Crystal generation and gravity magic. Being a magic caster, the spells revolving around the earth element she tends to use can inflict bludgeoning and piercing physical damage onto her target. The Pleiades have speculated that Evileye's utilization of crystals to be an upgraded specialization within her earth-type elementalism.

Additionally, Evileye possesses a special ability that can cause the negative energy flowing through her body to overload and infuse every attack she makes with negative status effects. With this ability, she is capable of using her spells imbued with negative energy to drain her target's life force. Evileye wears an Enchanted Ring that conceals her status as a Vampire.

According to YGGDRASIL standards, she is thoroughly estimated to be around level 50. It is implied that Evileye's innate talent has the ability to easily annihilate an entire city, but she doesn't want to dwell further on the subject since it is her ace in the hole.

Her Talent is "the ability to store any spell that she has seen or been targeted with -- but only one -- and use it for her own." She can even use it on super-tier spells or Wild Magic. However, when casting the spells, its effects are calculated from her own stats and she has to pay any costs that need to be paid. For instance, if she were to cast Fallen Down, it would take the same amount of time to cast and it would work off her lower ability scores, so it would be less damaging than the same spell as cast by Ainz.

However, she will be counted as having met the ability requirements for casting the spell. Also, she cannot willingly dismiss the stored spell. She can only release it by using it once, which can be taken, as a stretch, to be a weakness. As for whether a spell is stored, that depends on whether she is willing to do so. However, like the “ability she could use with limited potency” mentioned in her alternative counterpart, Keno's, Epilogue, it is impossible for Evileye to use her Talent to its full efficacy and this description is merely founded on possibilities.

Similarly to her counterpart, Keno Fasris Invern, the reason why she did not become a zombie, but rather a vampire instead is because she was subconsciously using her Talent to replicate Cure Elim's Wild Magic. In the process of doing so, she absorbed the souls of the people around her, becoming the undead being that Cure Elim had originally planned to be -- another Cure Elim. However, she is only holding on to her intelligence due to sustaining the spell (strictly speaking, it's not quite the same as his). Therefore, her Talent can no longer be used for other purposes and if this Talent -- or perhaps the Wild Magic -- were dispelled, she would become a mindless zombie. Evileye literally cannot release her talent or she "dies."[37]

Evileye's drawing skills are very bad. When she showed a sketch of Momon to the Holy Kingdom delegation, Neia Baraja compares her drawing with that of a child.

In the Web Novel, Evileye was considered to be the most powerful Vampire Lord throughout the history of the New World.[38] She was said to be a monster who is stronger than the Evil Deities.[39] Also, Evileye was noted to know over 100 magic spells by far that she could use.

Racial Classes

Job Classes

Active

  • Acid Splash: A spell that launches a pool of acid at a targeted area.
  • Charm Person: The spell can cause charmed target to see the user as their best friend. As their friend, the user's words have a certain amount of effect on that person. However, since this is only a low-level charm spell, it cannot brainwash the target.
  • Crystal Lance: A 4th tier spell used by Evileye against Entoma, launching an elongated cold object sent flying in her direction.
  • Crystal Wall: A spell that creates a wall made of earth-element crystals.
  • Crystal Dagger: A spell used to create an even larger crystal dagger unlike the one before while then appearing in mid-air and shot out. This dagger does purely physical damage and cannot be resisted. On top of this, by further applying special magic skills, it is able to break through defenses easily.
  • Fly: A 3rd tier spell that gives the caster the ability to fly.
  • Invisibility: A 2nd tier spell that allows the user to remain invisible without being detected.
  • Magic Arrow: A 1st tier spell that allows the user to shoot out an arrow made of mana that will pierce a target.
  • Shard Buck Shots: A spell used to create many crystals smaller than the size of a fist shot out in a scattered pattern. These are crystal fragments in which sharp front ends. Originally, it would be used in close-quarter combat to inflict enormous harm.
  • Region Petrification
  • Resist Weakening: A spell designed to buff someone to be able to resist their weakening condition.
  • Reverse Gravity: A spell that temporarily reverses the gravitational pull in a target area.
  • Sand Field: All: A 5th tier spell. It was created by Evileye and is one of her strongest spells. Sand particles disperse throughout the surroundings. Because it affects one's comrades too, this spell is useless in a group fight. Any opponent within its area will be immobilized, as well as being blinded, silenced, and dazed. By using this in conjunction with her trump card, it will also cause life drain on all caught within the spell's range.
  • Sand Field: One
  • Teleportation: A 5th tier spell that allows the caster to teleport over a distance.
  • Translocation Damage: A defensive spell that turns physical damage into mana loss.
  • Vermin Bane: An original spell of the 5th tier created by Evileye during her fight against the insect demon god two hundred years ago.[40] It a high-tier spell that forms a white mist of gas where, if any insects were to enter its range, they're killed by it, with the exception of Entoma's powerful resistance against the spell. This type of magic was developed with the sole purpose of repelling the insects used by that individual. The spell is effectively a counter-measure to insects and doesn't cause any harm to other organisms. The mana consumption of her original spell, 'Vermin Bane' is extremely large and is considered to be best reserved for when the opponent is about to summon insects.

Relationships

Blue Roses

Evileye became a member of Blue Roses due to Rigrit's coercion. Although Evileye initially joined against her will, she came to deeply care and trust all the other members over time. In the same way, her teammates care, trust, and appreciate her. After she fell in love with Momon, they have gotten used to the change of humor and excitation of Evileye every time someone speaks about him.

Rigrit Bers Caurau

Rigrit knows her real name and refers to her as Inberun. She and Evileye used to be traveling companions together back when they were still part of the Thirteen Heroes. Even now, Rigrit calls her Crybaby. The two made a bet which she lost, resulting in Evileye becoming a member of Blue Roses. However, Rigrit's true intention was made clear to Evileye, as she wanted her friend to keep an eye on the Blue Roses after Rigrit's retirement.

Rigrit is one of the few only humans in the New World capable of beating Evileye.

Lakyus Alvein Dale Aindra

As fellow adamantite adventurers of Blue Roses, they have a close relationship with each other. However, she is slightly jealous of Lakyus due to Momon's interest in regards to her Revival Magic. Evileye has shown great concern for Lakyus, refusing to get her involved in a direct confrontation with Jaldabaoth after witnessing his power.

Gagaran

As fellow adamantite adventurers of Blue Roses, they have a close relationship with each other. Gagaran calls her "Our Shorty" as a teasing nickname and Evileye calls her "Mass of Muscle."

Tia

As fellow adamantite adventurers of the same team, she has developed a friendly relationship with the ninja since joining Blue Roses.

Tina

As fellow adamantite adventurers of Blue Roses, they have a close relationship with each other. The two demonstrate this during their journey in Renner's carriage while escorting the princess to the orphanage within the Kingdom. More so, they demonstrate the kinship of the team while conversing with Climb and Renner. At the same time, they also make some jokes and mischievous comments among each other.

Others

Momon

Evileye fell in love with Momon after he saved her from the hands of Jaldabaoth. She tends to act respectful and a bit nervous whenever she is around him. Harboring romantic feelings for him, she is even willing to quit Blue Roses and join Darkness with Momon if he asks her to. Evileye thinks very highly of Momon and the deeds he has done since saving her from Jaldabaoth. She thinks Momon has already formed some sort of grand strategy against the powerful demon. However, she isn't afraid to admit that there are others who are as powerful as him like the Sorcerer King.

On the other hand, she is shown to have a jealous side of her own with Nabe, as the latter is a partner of Momon. This is more evident when she raises her voice when Momon wants to speak to Lakyus about her revival magic. Amazed at his power shown in his battle with Jaldabaoth, she starts to believe that perhaps Momon may have been a God-kin. However, she has yet to know the truth of Momon's true identity as Ainz Ooal Gown. When Momon joined the Sorcerer King as a subordinate, her feelings for him did not waver and was willing to be by his side, despite his change of allegiance.

Nabe

Evileye laughed at the vanity of Nabe's popular title as the "beautiful princess" before she met her in person. However, after seeing Nabe, she is somewhat taken back by her beauty and cannot look away. Also, she is very jealous of Nabe and considers the adventurer to be her rival for Momon's affection. Evileye even feels defeated by Nabe due to her mature body that seems capable of giving birth, while she is trapped in an adolescent and immature undead body that is incapable of giving birth. However, she is not discouraged by all of this and her determination to win Momon's affection is unwavering.

On the other hand, Evileye believes that Nabe is a fellow God-kin alongside Momon due to her extraordinary feat shown when fighting Jaldabaoth's maids. Meanwhile, Nabe thinks of her as a gigantic annoying mosquito and does not even bother to remember her name.

Climb

Evileye admires Climb's tenacity and desire to improve himself. She acts as an aide alongside Gagaran in encouraging Climb to continue training. However, she also warns him not to seek strength too far and never forsake his humanity or else he would end up becoming a monster.

Entoma Vasilissa Zeta

Evileye, alongside Gagaran and Tia, defeated Entoma after a hard battle. Most of her consumable items were depleted during the battle to the point that she was in a serious amount of debt. Entoma holds a grudge against Evileye due to her humiliating defeat, losing her cute voice, and insulting her appearance. She swore revenge against Evileye and even requested Ainz directly to give her a chance to fight her again.

Jaldabaoth

Evileye confronted Demiurge when he was acting as Jaldabaoth. The vampire was enraged at him for killing Gagaran and Tia, as well as him asking why she would team up with people weaker than herself. She had estimated Jaldabaoth's power level to surpass the Evil Deities by far. She thinks that his overall power is at least equal to Platinum Dragon Lord; but as the Platinum Dragon Lord is also far over her understanding, she has no way to compare which one is actually stronger.

Ramposa III

Evileye had a poor opinion of the King of Re-Estize Kingdom as her thoughts of him were that he was a pitiful nobody who didn't dare rock the boat. However, after awarding her love interest Momon with a letter of appreciation and bestowing a dagger to him, her opinion of him had gone up quite a bit.

Trivia

  • Evileye's real name is Keno Fasris Invern.
  • Evileye is aware of the existence of 10th tier magic.[4]
  • Evileye considers players to be a race and refers to their descendants as God-kin.[6]
  • In the original release of Light Novel Volume 6, her character sheet was initially written as Ivileye. In the re-release of that volume, the author, however, edited and changed it to Evileye as the correct translation.
  • In Mass for the Dead, it is mentioned in her swimsuit character bio that she is the poorest swimmer on her team.
  • It is entirely possible that Evileye's affinity for Momon is due to his racial classes being high tier Undead such as Overlord, the highest tier Undead racial class.

Quotes

  • (To Climb): "Talent is an inborn ability… Some people say that talents are like buds before they blossom, and everyone has talent… hmph. To me, that's just wishful thinking, something idiots use to comfort themselves. Even the leader of the Thirteen Heroes was the same way."
  • (To Climb about the leader of the Thirteen Heroes): "He was talented, but it just hadn't flowered yet. It's different from your case. You’ve worked so hard, but that's all the talent you've shown… Not everyone has talent, and the difference is blindingly obvious between the haves and have-nots. Therefore… I won't tell you to give up, but you ought to know your limits"
  • (To Climb): "Climb. Even if you desire power, don't give up your humanity."
  • (To Entoma): "So that's what you are; a man-eating monster right? Even wearing a maid outfit, what kind of joke are you trying to pull? Who'd want some bloody smelling monster like you around them?"
  • (To herself): "I've always insisted that magic casters who rely on attack spells are second-rate, but I guess I have to eat my words now."
  • (To herself): "…I couldn't hurt him even with a spell enhanced with Penetrate Magic…? This high-level demon is beyond my expectations, no, he might be beyond the Demon Gods! Could he be the King of the Demon Gods?!"
  • (To herself): "Bards throughout the world, I'm sorry! A true knight does indeed carry the frail maiden in his arms, fighting while protecting her. Uwah, what am I thinking! So embarrassing!"
  • (To herself about Momon): "Aaaaah! I can't help it, he's too damn cool! Is it wrong for me to feel like a girl again, just once in hundreds of years? After all, he's a mighty warrior who's stronger than me."
  • (To herself about female humans): "It's foolish to want to be protected because you're weak. Instead, all you need to do is become strong, and you won't need anyone to protect you. That should be the way."
  • (To herself about Jaldabaoth and Entoma): "The only one who can beat you is Momon-sama. Then, I will dispose of the trash around you. This time, if the maid shows herself, I will kill her. I was once the cursed being known as Landfall! Don't look down on me, Jaldabaoth!"
  • (To herself about Ramposa III): "And here I thought the King was a pitiful nobody who didn't dare rock the boat. My opinion of him has gone up quite a bit."
  • (To Renner about her talent): "AS IF I'D GO AROUND BLABBING IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE THAT!!!"
  • (To Tina about Momon): "That's right! The great hero, Momon-sama! The mightiest warrior ever, who swings his twin greatswords like they were little more than twigs! There’s no doubt that he’s the strongest fighter in the land! Even if Jaldabaoth comes again, as long as Momon-sama is around, he'll definitely slaughter him! Although, it was a shame that he managed to escape last time. Still, that great man should have come up with some way to deal with that by now!"
  • (To Tina): "Ahhhh~ Momon-sama! Shit, that damn Sorcerer King! To think he would actually dare to take control of that great man! Even if Heaven permits it, I won't! If only I could defeat him and free Momon-sama! What on earth was he thinking, anyway? Maybe I should go to E-Rantel and ask Momon-sama about his thoughts, how about that?"
  • (To Tina about the Sorcerer King): "If those rumors are all true ― then he is more powerful than any other magic caster. I did some investigations after the incident at the Katze Plains and looked up all my contacts ― I even got in touch with that granny ― and then analyzed the information I obtained. However, it’s so ridiculous it’s not even funny any more. It’s absurd to the point where I was seriously suspecting if the punk was mesmerized by an illusion."
  • (To Tina): "Then, Tina. Let me answer to your question honestly. I cannot defeat the Sorcerer King."
  • (To Tina about the Sorcerer King): "Well yes. I might be able to think of a way to deal with those monsters he summoned. Granted, it's hard to say that, given that I was not at the scene. Still, the Sorcerer King ― who can not only summon multiple monsters of that kind and control them ― is a being that should not exist in this world. Someone like that possesses the power of the gods."
  • (To Remedios about Momon): "I don't think he used any such item. However, Momon-sama fought magnificently when he dueled Jaldabaoth. I was fighting Jaldabaoth's subordinates back then, so I did not see the full fight, but it was a terrifying battle. It was a battle fought by a hero among heroes, a champion among champions."
