"----Ladies and gentlemen. I see you for the first time. I am the assistant to the Pontifex Maximus, Enhela Read Gahi.
— To all at the Trilateral Conference.

Enhela Read Gahi (エンヘラ・リード・ガヒー), Enhera Lido Gaby was a character appearing in Mass for the Dead. Supposedly, he was the assistant of the Pontifex Maximus; in actuality, he was a being created by Kuyō and all of his backstory was fake. He was also the final boss of part 1 of the story, from Chapters 1 to 19.

Appearance[]

Enhela was a young man with short white hair and violet eyes. As a priest, he wears white and blue vestments.

Personality[]

A calm individual that always aims to smile, he appeared to have an air of mysteriousness. Enhela always was polite and neutral towards his peers. Though underneath the warm face was a man who was willing to do anything for his goals, even willing to break oaths he made if it served a purpose. Despite this dark aspect of his personality, Enhela was shown to be honorable as when he permitted his subordinates to disobey him so that they could protect human lives. Still this does not stop him from sacrificing multiple humans for the sake of evolving the species as he believes what he does is for the greater good.

Although Enhela shared his nation's view of protecting humanity, he appears to lack their zeal in persecuting and refusing to work with demi-humans as he felt that it is detrimental to their cause. Instead he was more than willing to work with enemies if they can be used or serve his agendas. Admittingly he confessed that he found his nation's obstinance to doctrine and paranoia to the unknown tiring. Thus he found himself better at working with those who have moderate views. And while it has been shown that Enhela can work willingly with non-humans to pursue a goal, its suspected that he hid his prejudices and hatred with his kind-hearted smile.

What's more that set him away from his countryfolk, is that Enhela was not really an adherent to any of the Six Great Gods. In fact the only reason why he achieved such a high rank in the Theocracy was due to his goals and his state's aims being aligned for the time being. Being a high-ranking member of the cloth in his country, such a notion would be seen as heresy which he secretly kept to himself and his 'brother'. And while he did admit the Six Great Gods were powerful existences, the god that he truly worshiped was far more worthy.

Later its revealed that Enhela's faith belongs to the Devourer of the Nine Worlds who he views as his creator and the reason why he was placed in the role as the Assistant to the head of state of the Slane Theocracy.

Enhela genuinely wished to save humanity and could feel pity and mercy towards the people of Theocracy, but due to realizing his existence as a creation of the Devourer of the Nine Worlds, it left him lacking the ability for him to feel any bonds or camaraderie with them. Hence, he was willing to commit genocide and culling to fulfill his goals in saving humanity, no matter how many sacrifices. But deep down, the man for all his haltingness and self-confidence was a person who was a rare lonely individual, desiring to have a friend who was like himself.

Background[]

Enhela, sometime after the Catastrophe was promoted as the Pontifex Maximus's assistant. It appears his promotion as the Theocracy's sovereign's right hand man was unprecedented given his youth. Unaware to the Theocracy at large, there never was a position of Deputy Pontifex Maximus. For the very matter, the existence of Enhela is a fabrication, as the man is a figment born from the Sea of Possibilities to act as the agent of Kuyō. Memories of his life and history were inserted into the minds of the upper echelons of the Theocracy which allowed the priest to establish himself as a powerful figure working for mysterious aims.

Chronology[]

Mass for the Dead Arc[]

Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc

Enhela accompanied Cardinal Raymond Zarg Lauransan to E-Rantel for a summit of the three human nations to address the effect of the Catastrophe.[1] He later attended the summit of leaders from all three countries alongside Raymond. During a mock battle between the national representatives of the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire, he acted as a referee. When Gazef Stronoff, the protagonist and Soi were the last ones to face against Fluder Paradyne, the priest intervened and demonstrated his abilities to nullify Fluder's spell on the two pinned combats. His reason for ending the match before a winner could be decided was to address the issue of an invading force of Chaos Beasts approaching the city.[2]

Enhela later returned to the Theocracy capital with Raymond and was present at a meeting with what were presumably members of the Six Cardinals. He and Raymond, gave their colleagues the news in E-Rantel. Later he turned the meeting towards the protagonist and his impressive list of achievements.[3]

After a horde of Chaos Beasts emerged from a cave north of E-Rantel made their way to the city, Enhela was stationed back in the area. He coordinated with Emperor Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix to lead thousands of the monsters to the Quarry so that the Empire could activate the Melting Pot. He commanded a small unit of the Slane Theocracy and watched as the forces of the Tripartite Alliance fought against the Chaos Beasts from behind the scenes holding in reserve a trump card.[4]

When the war with the Chaos Beasts deteriorated with the loss of morale after news of a more massive horde of thirty thousand was coming from the north, Enhela and his men witnessed the coming of the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth. After the demon slewed two thousand monsters in an instant and offered to save them from the oncoming horde, Enhela immediately contacted his home country of this development. When Emperor Jircniv contacted him and King Rampossa III to discuss about the Demon Emperor's offer, he announced that his country's policy was clear, as they would never broker an agreement with a demon. He then began to organize his forces to withdraw from E-Rantel in face of the Chaos Beasts and uncertainty of the demons.

The Demon Emperor's deal turned out to be faustian bargain, as the Demon Emperor wished to claim all the resources in the city without resistance by the inhabitants and also the life of the one who made the contract with him. Due to the Theocracy recalling it forces; they were spared from the demons' onslaught whilst the Kingdom and Empire suffered tremendous losses when they tried to resist. However, when it seemed that the demons would have their hour and dominate humanity, the unthinkable soon occurred as the protagonist raised a sword against the demons, not only rescuing Emperor Jircniv but driving them out of the city. Enhela then coordinated with a pair of shadowy entities to proceed with their next target: Jaldabaoth with the help of the Windflower Scripture.[5]

Sometime before the Black Scripture were deployed to seek out the Demon Emperor, an incident occurred involving the Thoecracy's still recovering trump card, Antilene Heran Fouche, escaping to the outside world. Later when Antilene was reported to be in E-Rantel, Enhela arrived there retrieve her. Initially the priest was worried that their girl would resist, but was glad to see that she was cooperating. The two then left together and returned her back to the homeland.[6]

In a plot to use Zurrernorn to destabilize the Kingdom, Enhela use them as an intermediary to fund them and Marquis Blumrush to kidnap women coming into his territory for a bridal recruitment for the death cultist's rituals. After Marquis Blumrush was found out by Blue Roses and the protagonist, the noble attempted to escape to the Theocracy as he was promised asylum. However, at the edge of Blumrush's territory he was killed by an assassin. The Vice Chief Priest hire the killed through multiple intermediaries and reneged on the deal he gave to the marquis despite swearing to his Six Great Gods to uphold it. The priest was disappointed that the investment he made into the cult and noble failed to create a situation that would cause internal fighting in the Kingdom but took comfort that he was able to get some information on the movements of the other nation, such as Elias Brandt Dale Raeven and Princess Renner Theiere Chardelon Ryle Vaiself from Blumrush.[7]

In the aftermath of the demons' raid, support for the protagonist had grown not only among the public but also from the leaders of the Kingdom and Empire respectively as well. E-Rantel managed under the supervision of the protagonist helped to not only restore the city, but also complete its fourth wall too, expand it defenses and create a centralized research institute to study the Cracks. The reforms saw E-Rantel transform into an "open city" where not just humans of different nationalities existed, but races could coexist. It was at the third summit meeting of the Tripartite Alliance King Ramposa III would officially transfer the administration rights to the protagonist's nation, the Sorcerer Kingdom, in light of the more effective system.

Enhela along with Cardinal Raymond however were more cautious with the idea. Not just in making an alliance with a non-human nation but also in fear of giving one person too much power over a critical city in the Tripartite Alliance. To allay their fears of the potential abuse of power, the protagonist along with Prime Minister Albedo offered the Theocracy to become the deterrent to the Sorcerer Kingdom, promising to step down if any breaches in trust or management were exposed. Enhela seeing that the Sorcerer Kingdom had anticipated such a reaction and were responding accordingly retracted his objection and allowed the signing of the city's right to proceed. Despite the lack of gaining any useful information on this new player, Enhela told himself he would have to use other means to investigate.[8]

After the Black Scripture lost many members attempting to fight a powerful vampire in the Katze Plains an covert team was sent to the location where the vampire was mind controlled but there were no traces of it. The news was reported to Enhela who was frustrated by the lack of concrete information. After regaining his composure, he ordered a messenger to direct their forces to act carefully. He wondered if the entity in the plains appeared by coincidence or maybe it was the result from the previous attack on E-Rantel.[9]

While alone in his suite, Enhela goes over the progress made by the city since the attack by Jaldabaoth. He is astonished that the city has not only avoided falling into chaos, but been fully repaired and that the defenses have been strengthened. As for the incident with the undead that appeared in the Katze Plains, his initial assumption that that it may have been a Dragon Lord. But considering the timeline where powerful individuals appear at regular intervals every one hundred years in the world, the priest senses it could be related.

If he organized the timeline of events in chronological order, he sees a pattern that every major event had the protagonist play a vital role. Starting from the survey of the Crack in the Great Forest of Tob, to him reaching the rank of an adamantite adventurer, to having the Kingdom and Empire being in debt to that person. Even more odd that the background of the protagonist is unknown as he only appeared in the forest and while he claims to be from the Sorcerer Kingdom, as far as the Theocracy and adventurers can determine there is no history on that nation. Enhela suspects that the protagonist may be one of the individuals that are said to appear every one hundred years. Later a subordinate reports to the priest that the protagonist has left E-Rantel to head to the Azerlisia Mountains for a short trip. Since the protagonist will be absent, Enhela thinks it would be best to take advantage of the opportunity.

Enhela was caught by Soi to be sneaking through the secret passageway that connected the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute to the sewers. Seeing that he was caught, the priest admitted that he was sneaking around to acquire information though swore he had no intention to steal anything. Nevertheless, the man's presence in a restricted area was still a crime by the adventurer. In truth the priest was searching for information to determine the true identity of the protagonist and find any incriminating evidence that would reveal him as an enemy of humanity. In doing so the priest hoped to use it to make the other nations turn against the protagonist. While he spoke to Soi of how he was merely interested in the protagonist and his dedication to protecting humanity, he made it clear that humans should only protected by humans. Before the two's conversation could go any further, an explosion from the surface distracted them.[10]

While the two were contemplating what was going on the surface, the deputy to the Pontifex Maximus so he received a priority communique that informed him that the two factions of the Kingdom led by Barbro Andrean Ield Ryle Vaiself and Ramposa III were just about to clash over E-Rantel, when both leaders seemingly vanished into thin air followed by thousands soldiers on both sides. Realizing that E-Rantel would be facing a similar fate to the fallen nation of the Roble Holy Kingdom, the priest quickly made his escape from the sewers.

Once outside he issued an order to have all forces of Theocracy in the city to evacuate and return to their home country. His actions were prudent as E-Rantel descended into chaos as multiple Cracks appeared within the city, releasing thousands of Chaos Beasts. Enhela was at the front of the convoy of Theocracy forces trying to escape the city. His group only managed to escape thanks to the actions of the Sunlight Scripture who decided to remain behind not only to cover their rear but also to save the inhabitants of the city. Despite the Scripture members disobeying his orders and even summoning the Dominion Authority to defend the city, Enhela respected their reasons and urged the remaining convoy to depart the area.[11]

Enhela while in the Theocracy, was involved with a sub-faction of the Anti-Imperial Faction, led by slave traders with a grudge against Emperor Jircniv. Though the Assistant High Priest did not contact the anti-imperials directly only through intermediaries through the Temple. When word reached the Theocracy that the Empire was trying to create a stronger bond with the Sorcerer Kingdom, by hosting a "Greetings and Victory" festival at the imperial capital, the action was seen to be unacceptable by the echelons in the Theocracy. The Empire having stronger relations with the heteromorphic nation did not bode well to the human supremacist nation. While Enhela did not officially give his support, resources were supplied to the anti-imperials to enable them to cause a disruption and launch an assassination attempt on Jircniv.

The ploy failed, due to Jircniv having predicted the anti-imperials actions and after arresting them found links to the Theocracy. In response a letter was sent to Enhela via a courier with a formal protest from the Empire. Enhela though denied the allegations in his response, as there was nothing but circumstantial evidence, claiming that their nation was innocent and that the anti-imperials received aid from radicals with connections to the Temple. In reality the failure made Enhela annoyed, finding that he underestimated Jircniv, thinking he had gone soft after his encounter with the Demon Emperor, though it appeared to the priest that the man was still very much the Bloody Emperor. Although he blamed the failure to the zeal of the members of the Theocracy. Despite the setback, the man was not unhappy even sinisterly laughing, as he though how things would have been different if he had used his full power.[12]

After the attack on E-Rantel, Enhela returned to restore the Theocracy's military presence there. A few months passed since the onslaught of the city and Enhela saw the city slowly being restored all due to the efforts of the protagonist and his teammates. Even though Enhela was caught by Soi trying to sneak into the institute in E-Rantel Cemetery, the priest found it odd that he was not questioned on his duplicity. Even when he met with the protagonist, not once did the adventurer bring up the subject, which led the priest to believe that the protagonist knew but stayed his hand to prevent an international incident. While managing the Theocracy's forces in the city, Enhela found himself in demand by the priesthood of the Temple to assist them in coordinating efforts to heal those still wounded from the attack on the city. Enhela somewhat overwhelmed by the lack of moderate thinking members in the Theocracy, lamented on the disappearances of Nigun and Ian as he believed they were tremendous losses.

A month after the return of the real protagonist from the "other side" of the Crack, Enhela ventured by himself into the anomaly to search and rescue Nigun and Ian. He ran into the members of Darkness who were stunned to see the Pontifex Maximus's assistant walking freely without any magically equipment in the hazardous "chaos environment". Though the priest tried to play it that there meeting was a coincidence, the adventurers did not believe him and thought he was an imposter. Enhela though proclaimed who he truly was, even mentioning that he was a God-kin to explain his immunity in the dimension. Upon seeing that the protagonist did not wear any adaptive equipment, Enhela believed that he was the same, and called him 'brother'. Furthermore he hinted that the adventurer and he shared as special bond connected through unique existences. But when he was met by confusion from his supposed 'brother', Enhela attempted to job his memory by attack him. The attack was blocked by Soi and hi actions were then demanded to be explained.

Finally Enhela relented, as he wanted to convince the protagonist of his greater role. Enhela explained that while he was a high-ranking member of the priesthood of the Theocracy, he did not actually worship the Six Great Gods, but other master that he and the protagonist both serve: Devourer of the Nine Worlds.[13]

The name though meant nothing to the protagonist. This was curious to Enhela as it seems that the protagonist did not fully receive his whole memories. But the priest knew that the protagonist became at least aware of what he was the moment he crossed over to the "other side", that he was a being from the Sea of Possibilities just as he was with a specific mission. Knowing that his brother must be in turmoil with the revelations, Enhela offered the adventurer to come with him to help him understand. And while Enhela was not cognizant of the true purpose each one had, believing that they could possibility play the role of adversaries, he believed it was in the protagonist's best interest to come with him, if necessary by force.

His offer was met by refusal from Surako and Soi. Disappointed Enhela was about to engage in a fight, when he was attacked by lightning and a fireball. The attacks did him no harm, but as he was unable to see the attackers, Enhela went on the defensive. Being informed that the ones in hiding were members of the Sorcerer Kingdom's anti-Chaos Beasts subjugation force, the deputy reassessed his options and decided to retreat with his baggage. By unknown means, the priests summoned a Crack behind him, which he used to escape from the adventurers and their allies before they could apprehend him,

Enhela was suspected by the members of the Sorcerer Kingdom to be far more that he appeared and thus its agents were put on high alert. The protagonist having a dubious past was permitted to remain in E-Rantel to act as bait for the priest to play his hand. Later on, Enhela attended the Quadripartite Alliance talks to address the returned Gazef Stronoff and his proposal to launch a rescue mission on the "other side". During the talks, details of the Sorcerer Kingdom's secret Chaos Beast and miasma research were brought to light, causing Enhela to use the opportunity to accuse the Sorcerer Kingdom for breaching the trust of the Alliance. The other representatives, particularly the Empire mostly ignored the accusations, as it was common practice for nations to uphold their interests first. The entire scene though was an act by Enhela, to express that while professionally he condemns the Sorcerer Kingdom, personally he publicly wanted it known that he supported the protagonist who was the Sorcerer Kingdom's representative. His actions confounded the protagonist who was unable to read him.

After the representatives agreed to organize the Four Kingdoms Rescue Team, Enhela dropped another surprise to the representatives, revealing that he was immune to the miasma, just as Gazef and the protagonist. As proof he revealed Nigun and Ian how he rescued from the "other side". Though he was able to cross into the Crack without any ill effect, Enhela announced that he would not be leading the Theocracy's forces into battle for the rescue operation, but instead Nigun would be taking command. This further confused the protagonist as he expected that the priest would try to make another attempt to kidnap him on the "other side".

In private Enhela met with Ian and Nigun, the latter being the one to convince Enhela to be substitute him on the operation out of concern for his superior and to repay him. For this Enhela praised Nigun for his nobility, such which Nigun felt undeserving of. However it is revealed that this was all part of Enhela's hidden agenda. While the situations such as the decontamination of Gazef Stronoff, his survival of the "other side", and the existence of his compatriot were unexpected and irregular, the priest was assured that things would go according to plan.

When the Chaos Adaptive Equipment had been mass produced by the Sorcerer Kingdom, and a pep rally was to be held in recognition to the Sorcerer Kingdom's contributions. Enhela would return to the homeland of the Theocracy and attend a special meeting of the Supreme Executive Council to discuss the upcoming event. During the discussion many of the upper echelons of the council voiced their discontent of the non-human nation receiving the trust of their allies so freely and were suspicious of its reasons to present two elven goodwill ambassadors. The Deputy Pontifex Maximus reminded the gathered that they could not afford to offend the Sorcerer Kingdom due to the amount of influence it wielded and that they could receive severe backlash from the other nations if they voiced their criticism.

While the meeting was somewhat sidetracked over the issue of the non-human nation plotting some kind of trap, Enhela mentally voiced how tiring the discussion was, preferring to know what the operational activities of the Sorcerer Kingdom was on the "other side" of the Crack, than the content of the current meeting. Still he bared with the antics as it would do him not good to stir up trouble with his affiliates.

A second round of meetings occurred, this time Enhela bringing the attention to the council to what the Captain of the Black Scripture, had told him. That Antilene had a desire to go outside in the world. The reason for this probably stemmed on the upcoming pep rally where two dark elves would appear from the Sorcerer Kingdom. To Enhela, the half-elf's interest was understandable, even if the elves were not likely from the same homeland, they were still of the general race. It seemed like a blessing, she'd take an interest rather than her recent memory loss. He voiced his support of her being allowed to join the Theocracy delegation at the rally, as if was better than the alternative in where Antilene would go missing like last time.

After the council agreed to give Antilene permission, Cardinal Raymond while alone with the deputy told the younger priest to take charge if things got desperate on their visit to E-Rantel, whilst he would take care of the pubic side of things. Enhela joked if that meant Raymond was tired of seeing death even after being a veteran of the Black Scripture, though the older clergyman simply accounted for Enhela's ability to retrieve Antilene so quickly last time.

The deputy was present at the venue of the pep rally with Raymond and Antilene. After the speeches were done, Enhela asked Antilene if she was excited to meet others of her kind, though received a curt affirmation. Later he and Raymond approached Aura and Mare at the venue to introduce them to Antilene. He asked the twins if they could be friends with her as they may be of the same lineage. To allow them to get acquainted he and Raymond excused themselves to attend to political affairs with the Alliance.

At the time of the closing of the event, Enhela was in a carriage with Antilene and Raymond returning to the Theocracy. There he inquired how the elves were to Antilene, which she stated that they were nice and hiding their strength. In regards to the influence of the Theocracy, from Antilene's report, Enhela was glad that their nation's presence was felt, through the efforts of Nigun. Enhela was happy to hear his subordinate was well-like through the city and was amused that the captain had a fondness for chocolate and suggested that Antilene bought some herself.[14]

For the entirety of the rescue operation Enhela was absent, though the members of Darkness expected that there was some scheme about. Later after the team faced a horde of Chaos Beasts, it was suspected by Slimeko to be his handiwork, but later proved to be just a coincidence. But upon the return of the protagonist to home soil, Momonga contacted him that every major city in the Re-Estize Kingdom and Baharuth Empire were engulfed in miasma, and suspected that this was the work of Enhela.[15]

Enhela's whereabouts were unknown to Nazarick. But it was believed by Momonga and his retainers that the miasma was his doing, but were unable to figure out his plans. It was assumed that the crisis was some sort of trap to draw the protagonist out to save what was left of E-Rantel as it was the closest settlement for the homunculus. Though the protagonist had a choice to ignore the call for aid, it was decided that maintaining his heroic persona was the best option as E-Rantel and its humans still served a purpose in shielding Nazarick from the worst of incidents affecting the New World.

Enhela finally made his appearance in the city square of E-Rantel, where the protagonist and his team from Nazarick were guarding, Fluder Paradyne, Sophie Noia and Nfirea Bareare in their work to decontaminate all the afflicted in the city.

Even though he was faced with hostility, Enhela tried to explain that he did not necessarily want to do the same. Quite the opposite he claimed to want to cooperate with the protagonist and opened negotiations with the members of the Sorcerer Kingdom. At first the priest tried to appeal to the homunculus and convince him to join his side willingly, trying to use his alienation and the loneliness he experienced from his allies as a reason. Additionally he believed that the should be working together on behalf of their shared god.

When he was rejected, Enhela decided to provide some incentive for the protagonist to reconsider. Sebas Tian who was in charge of guarding the protagonist sensing hostile intent engaged the priest, but to the shock of many was soundlessly defeated. Enhela though found the little bout with the "miner" interesting, remarking he was an existence who was strong enough to defeat his nation's trump card.

However his words of praise caused the Nazarick agents to regard him warily as the human displayed power beyond what was expected. Enhela expressed surprise at their mystification of such power as the protagonist should be equally capable of such feats. And later goes on to elaborate that this power he displayed was not his own but borrowed from his god Kuyō via the "Divine Right". When hearing Slimeko rejection of such notion that her partner is his kin, Enhela learns enough that the protagonist association with him potentially threatens his standing in the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The priest incessantly explains that he was put in the world as the Assistant to the Pontifex Maximus by his god in an aim to guide humanity through the Theocracy. His religious fanaticism is called out by Soi and the priests admits that he has yet to receive any direct communication with his deity, but so far has faith that his interpretations of his god are true. When called out as to why he is contaminating all the human cities if he is to guide them, Enhela explains that it is one of his two goals. The releasing of miasma is a process for humanity's evolution as his goal is to infect humanity and cure them, causing them to become stronger creatures.

Originally he intended to cure small groups of humans gradually at a later date, however the time table has accelerated due to the Sorcerer Kingdom's meddling as they developed a cure was too soon. As well as the fact that Enhela realizing that the protagonist was like him which complicated his plans. Thus his secondary goal is to bring the protagonist to his side and once again tries to convince the homunculus to fulfill his purpose given to him by his creator.

At hearing another refusal, Enhela tries another tactic and uses his power to summon a Crack to teleport him and the Nazarick agents to the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Upon arriving to the dungeon at the Central Mausoleum, where Momonga and a assembly of NPCs are awaiting them as they just recently evacuated Nazarick after it was compromised. Enhela reveals to everyone that he used his power to take over Nazarick via "Hacking" and that the entire miasma crisis was an intricate ploy to locate Nazarick. As it turns out the Crack in the Throne Room is a bit unique as not only does it afford the NPCs their immunity against the miasma but also is not in direct control of Enhela or his maker thus forcing the priest to activate all Cracks in the world to pinpoint the anomalously Crack.

Enhela gives the protagonist one last chance, stating that he would release Nazarick and leave it alone so long as he would came with him and to use his abilities in the name of their god. After giving out his demands, Enhela vanished to wait in the Throne Room for the protagonist's response.[16]

Once a team consisted of Momonga, Albedo, Mare, Aura, Lupusreigna, Solution, Slimeko and the protagonist went in to confront Enhela, he easily defeats most of them while not taking even a single scrape. He reveals his true goal of occupying Nazarick; to make the protagonist join him, and speaks of his loneliness as the only worshiper of Kuyō to make him accept the offer. After Slimeko sacrificed herself to protect the protagonist however, he awakens to the power of Kuyō, but much to Enhela's shock, the protagonist remains completely loyal to Nazarick, and becomes a being on par with Enhela in terms of power. Despite Enhela expanding the crack to distort Nazarick and challenging the party to a proper fight, he was defeated and killed by the protagonist.

A month after his death, his associates in the Slane Theocracy listed him as missing, believing him to be one of the many casualties their nation suffered when the Cracks erupted across the Alliance. Enhela's death though a secret kept by the Sorcerer Kingdom, was noticed by another party. One which had regarded the priest as a threat to their goals. But now his death, opened the way to allow this party to pursue their plan.[17]

A year later after the priest's defeat, a letter from Cardinal Raymond to Emperor Jircniv claimed that Enhela was unable to participate in the inspection tour of the Baharuth Empire. This brought some confusion from the protagonist, as he had killed Enhela, and yet the Theocracy keeps claiming that he was alive and too busy to show his face to the public, making the homunculus I wonder how much the Theocracy knew about Enhela's death.

Later at Arwintar, the protagonist and Prime Minister Albedo came into contact with two individuals, Aggresiel and Billiophia of the Mercenary Knights, claiming to have originated from the Sea of Possibilities. They were attracted to the New World due to the machinations of Enhela after he caused hundreds of humans to be trapped in the Chaos Zone. The other party claimed to have had no contact with the mad priest, finding his allegiance to a human supremacist nation incompatible with them. Additionally they expressed that even though he was of the same ancestry as them, they had no kinship to him and thus were happy about his demise.[18]

When Cardinal Raymond attended the next Alliance meeting, when asked about if Enhela would be attending the next inspection, the cardinal maintained the ruse that Enhela was too busy dealing with the damage in the Theocracy to go abroad. Though it was unknown if the Theocracy were even aware of what actually happened to him, and were just covering up things as usual.[19]

According to the 11th Seat of the Black Scripture, Enhela was still missing. From what she was told by Cardinal Raymond, he vanished around the same time as the miasma incidents that appeared around the Theocracy. Though his disappearance hardly the only loss incurred by the Theocracy as there were many others, including the dead and injured.[20]

Abilities and Powers[]

Enhela is equal to a high-tier YGGDRASIL Raid Boss, making him one of the strongest beings that has entered the New World and way beyond the bracket of management by a single Floor Guardian or Player. While he lacks any outright physical or magical immunities, he is extraordinarily resistant to any such attacks, being capable of standing up against a team consisting of Nazarick's top brass without even so taking a scrape. He is also immune to instant death attacks.

When first seen, he was able to dispel Fluder's triple magic with a wave of his hand. In addition, in the absence of Cardinal Raymond, he also holds significant authority as the Slane Theocracy's representative in the Tripartite Alliance.

Through some method, be it innate or magic item, Enhela is able to traverse through the Crack without any augmented equipment. Such an immunity should only be possible if a person has been exposed by the miasma and cured, though Enhela has never been exposed to such conditions. According to himself, his immunity is granted to him due to him being a God-kin. Later this is elaborated on to be due to Enhela being from the Sea of Possibilities, as creations that originate from that realm are unaffected by the effects of the Chaos Zone.

Enhela also appears to have some mastery over the Chaos Zone, as he was able to conjure a Crack at a whim, using it to transport himself from a location. It is a rare ability in the current state of the New World, as teleportation magic, under tier magic at least, has become severely limited due to the magical interference of the Cracks.

From Solution Epsilon's appraisal of Enhela's ability, she admits that the priest is a threat to the Pleiades who may have little chance of winning against him. However she was fairly confident that Enhela power level is not beyond that of a Floor Guardian. Furthermore in part of the danger he represented, it was estimated that at least two Floor Guardians were needed to subdue him.

Later after Sebas Tian was defeated by the priest, the estimation of his abilities was updated putting on a level that surpasses a Floor Guardian and more on the level of a Supreme Being. This was further updated to being on the level of a highly difficult YGGDRASIL Raid Boss, although not onto the level of a World Enemy, as shown when Momonga teamed up Albedo, Mare, Aura, Shalltear and Lupusreigna and failed to even so land a scratch on him even with their strongest spells as he effortlessly tramples all over Momonga's party in an one-sided battle and kills Solution and Slimeko. Only when the protagonist awakens to the same power as him that he was taken out.

Active[]

  • Middle Heal: Heals allies.
  • Resistance +: Reduces magic damage received by allies.
  • All Regenerate: Gives recover to all allies over time.
  • Divine Right: An ability borrowed from his god, it allows Enhela to control all Cracks under the possession of the Devourer of the Nine Worlds. Using this ability Enhela can teleport himself using Cracks that he can manifest. Additional he can use simultaneously cause all Cracks under his control to erupt miasma mist. This method not only spreads the toxic gas, but allows the priest to extend his sensory abilities in order to use the Cracks to locate locations or people in the vicinity of the anomalies. The only weakness to this ability is that Cracks underground are more difficult to pinpoint. Due to the radical and racial tolerate ideas of the protagonist, Enhela worries about the protagonist's plans. Due to the numerous strange events since the Incident and the lack of history on the protagonist, the priest is beginning to suspect that the adventurer may not be what he seems and assumes him to be a threat.
