Dream Sweets in the City of the Dead (亡者の街の夢の菓子) is a game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on September 30, 2025 to October 14, 2025.

Background[]

One day, as preparations for the Momonga’s departure progressed steadily.

Zero, who has obtained the rights to sell chocolate, decides to set up a stall at the "Day of the Dead" which is said to be held in the imperial capital of Arwintar.

The people of Nazarick, seeing this as a good stage for experiments on humans, are...!? [1]

Incident[]

The Baharuth Empire, ruled by Emperor Jircniv Rune Farlord El-Nix, while many countries were thrown into chaos by the Calamity of Cracks, the Empire managed to keep the chaos to a minimum thanks to it's wise Emperor.

At a rundown room used by Lupusregina and CZ under their undercover identities of Regi and Shizuni, the former having heard of the propaganda of the Empire, comments that it doesn't seem like information being spread by the Emperor. Rather to Shizuni, it's proof that the Emperor is beloved the people. Though Regi finds that quite to be different, as no matter how difficult the situation may be, just knowing that there is a place that is even worse can make one feel better and more secure. Doing this with a group of people can make one feel eve more secure. In other words, Shizuni sees it as licking wounds in large numbers.

And though the Empire had casualties from the curse of the Cracks and was thrown into chaos. Basically it is a defensive instinct as Shizuni can tell, a sense of relative superiority through comparison helps stabilize the mind. Still the undercover Nazarick agent states that the fact that something like the Grand Arena is being run just like it was before the Calamity feels a bit unusual. Lupusregina supposes that it's worth some praise. But in terms of speed, she notes that E-Rantel has recovered the fastest, a hallmark achievement thanks to the Sorcerer Kingdom.

While true, Shizuni muses that though the new king of the Re-Estize Kingdom is fairly competent, it would've been impossible without their patron nation. As proof of that, the less populated area still seem to be taking some time to recover. In response, Regi states that in the sparsely populated areas, it's not just the Cracks themselves---villagers have been eaten by Contaminated Beasts and all sorts of terrible things have happened. Even the run-down village the women have always passed on the way back to Nazarick are in pretty awful states.

Based on the survival rates, Shizuni estimates that village might be in the top 18%. It seems, that adventurers are sent there often...so maybe it'll become a bit more lively from now on. Regi finds that a shame. Shizuni finds this curious, as disappointing would not be what she would call it. After all roads are being improved, so shoes won't be worn out easily. In more populated areas, she and Regi can't use items like Statue of Animal - War Horse, as it would not clash with their appearance as just ordinary people, who aren't famous adventurers. It would be weird to wander around with such a great golem and attracted unwanted attention. Their boss in New Six Arms might even ask where they got it. So Shizuni thinks they should be appreciative of the deserted roads are now clean.

Rego though claims that watching Shizuni, standing on the brink of hell and still happy that she "hasn't fallen yet" used to be the highlight of her visits. To that Shizuni can't relate to that. Though Regi states that saying things like "I'm just grateful to be alive" or "This place is blessed," averting their eyes right up until the very end, desperately trying to keep on living...is the kind of sight that gets her. People saying "I still have water, some food, and not many of my family members have died. So this is a good place." To Regi she wants to see their hopes plummet spectacularly from that pedestal.

Anyways Regi guesses that it would be nice if more adventurers were sent out and the country recovered a bit before the downfall. That's a hard idea to throw away to the undercover worker. Shizuni only shakes her head at what a cruel sadist is though hopes that the village will be rebuilt. That is fine by Regi as she will try to find and observe the next village that dances on the brink of despair. In response Shizuni states that she picked the wrong partner before telling Regi that she and her need to be off and going. This makes Regi complains that she really wants to go back to Nazarick, as she had to sleep in the neighboring city yesterday and the day before. And now has to go stay in the Empire, finding it a pain. It can't be helped as Shizuni states it's for the sake of their undercover identities.

The two then walk outside the bustling streets of Arwintar. Seeing the crowds, Shizuni notes the number of people out. Although Regi thinks it's normal when she arrived last night. Even so Shizuni thinks it's something to report, and wants to find out why so many people are about. Regi decides to give this information seeking task a shot and suggests that they reach out to someone nearby. Shizuni then states that they should talk to someone who is unlikely to recognize them as New Six Arms. This is agreed by Regi as she wants to avoid being criticized like "It's strange that you don't know," or "How could you not know that?" The only question remains on who to choose.

Among the crowd, Regi picks an man who she asks Shizuni if she recognizes him. The other woman does not, as he might not be from the city and know the details, so it might seem safest to ask him. Regi then walks up to the older man, and casually states that the city seems a bit busier than usual and asks if there is something going on. The man states that it is because of the Day of the Dead is coming up. Regi things he is referring to Greetings and Victory or Halloween, the event that the Emperor held a while back.

If Regi recalls, the Theocracy was working behind the scenes with the Anti-Imperial Faction at the time. The Emperor had presented certain evidence to accuse the Theocracy, and had calculated that this would be sued to the advantage of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Though that kind of information hadn't come down to the commoners. In a flashback, Regi remembers being in the old inn room, wearing her Halloween costume, thanking Narberal, dressed as a witch, for help in gathering information. Narberal stated that she will pass the thanks to Sebas Tian as well, as thanks to him she was able to extract information from the human planning the attack. Regi adds that it was possible due to Narberal doing some research to identify the culprits and now that was left, it is to criticize the idiots.

In the present, Regi thinks that if that is the case this time, it will be clear who the Emperor wants to attack next, and it will be even more beneficial for the Sorcerer Kingdom. As Regi ruminates on this, the man she is talking to, states that the Day of the Dead is an event decided upon by the people in the city, and had nothing to do with major national events like "Greetings and Victory." If that's the case, then Regi believes that there's no need for Nazarick---the Sorcerer Kingdom---to get involved. That said Regi plans to report this to Nazarick, but decides to continue to listen to what the old man has to say.

The man examining both Regi and Shizuni then asks if they are adventurers or maybe workers. Shizuni answers yes, and that they were making some money and traveling to the next city. She asks more information about the event. Not minding the conversation, the man explains that in the Day of the Dead, people dress up as undead versions of their departed loved ones---those who died in the Calamity of Cracks so they don't actually come back as real undead. During this event, the people bring along things their loved ones cherished, and while praying for their peace in the afterlife, they parade through town---showing the deceased the peaceful city that's come since their passing.

Regi though is confused, as why would people dress up as an undead person if they don't want to be undead? The man elaborates that he is not good at explaining things, but it's like they're showing the world, 'the deceased have already become undead---so they can't be turned into undead any further. In other words the people are trying to deceive the world.

The man goes on to explain that the Magician’s Guild told him magic needs a connection to the world to function. They believed that if they could somehow “trick” that world, then people might be spared from turning into undead. In the end, though, it was more of a prayer — a simple “I hope this works.” As Regi and Shizuni can both tell, the man himself can’t use magic; he only carries a knife for self-defense.

Because of that, he doesn’t know the finer details and can’t properly explain what this “world” really is. Still, he understands the feeling of not wanting loved ones to become undead, and that alone is enough for him.

The two workers finally see the picture. Regi admits she had no idea there was such a festival or procession, but now the unusual liveliness of the imperial capital makes sense. The man explains that this is actually the first time the Day of the Dead event is being held, so it’s perfectly natural that they haven’t heard of it. Even so, he says, they should look forward to it.

Shizuni asks whether there will be a large parade. The man replies that there probably will. The festival was created purely from the prayers and wishes of the Empire’s citizens, but with the help of the Merchant’s Guild, vendors from neighboring towns — even from E-Rantel — heard the rumors and gathered here. So he expects the city to grow even more crowded and festive.

Shizuni and Regi thank the man for taking the time to explain everything. For him, it was no trouble at all. He hopes they’ll meet again on the Day of the Dead.

After he leaves, Regi muses that his explanation certainly accounts for why the streets feel so unusually lively. Shizuni agrees; she’s already spotted stalls she’s never seen before. Regi proposes that they gather more information — check what the shops are selling and perhaps buy something. Shizuni agrees. After all, Momonga once said that sometimes it’s necessary to make “wasteful purchases” to better portray their undercover identities’ “humanity.”

A flashback to the Treasury: Pandora’s Actor informs Lupusregina and CZ that, as per Momonga’s request, he has prepared funds specifically for things like “casually dropping into a café for tea” and “buying little souvenirs they want but don’t truly need.” As Treasurer of Nazarick, he hopes they will use this money to deepen their understanding of humanity while undercover. One day, he says, they may be operating in some other world entirely — and at that time it may be difficult to request Nazarick’s permission for trivial expenses. So he asks them to think carefully and manage this ‘Money for Deepening Humanity’ responsibly.

That was in their true identities. Now, as Regi and Shizuni, they intend to put that fund to good use. Shizuni is excited; she’s been practicing the line, “I want it, but I’m not sure if I should buy it,” and she’s confident her acting will be flawless.

Regi tells her it’s time to put that training into practice. Together, they approach a nearby stall and begin asking the shopkeeper about their wares. Regi remarked to the shopkeeper that there seemed to be quite a few interesting items for sale. Shizuni, for example, had paused before a helmet—one she thought would suit certain friends of hers who preferred full-face designs. The shopkeeper chuckled, praising her good eye and even offering a small discount. Shizuni admitted she would need to think about it, as their funds were limited, earning another laugh from the woman behind the counter.

Regi then asked whether the shopkeeper was from outside the city, and followed up by mentioning the approaching Day of the Dead, when the streets filled with strangers. The shopkeeper shook her head and said she had been born and raised here. On the day of the festival, she explained, she would dress as her deceased son’s undead self, wearing his cherished leather shoes. She spoke wistfully of how she imagined walking through the brightened city together with him—and, above all, how she hoped he would not return as one of the undead.

A soft smile crossed the shopkeeper’s face as her eyes drifted somewhere far away. It was easy to guess who she was seeing in her mind. At last, Shizuni decided to buy the helmet. She didn’t truly need it, but something in her wanted to take it with her. After the exchange of coins, the shopkeeper asked gently whether there was someone important to the two of them whom they could no longer meet.

Both Regi and Shizuni admitted there was. That was enough for the shopkeeper; she simply nodded and said she supposed she would see them again on the day of the festival. The two left the shop wearing matching bitter expressions. Regi growled that the ones they longed for were still alive—how irritating to have them spoken of as though they were the same as the dead who would never return. Shizuni agreed, and the two shared a knowing smile. Shizuni added quietly that she didn’t know if she would ever see him again. She meant her creator, of course, just as Regi was thinking of her own. Regi nodded, and together they headed off.

When Regi and Shizuni arrived at the new hideout of the New Six Arms, they were greeted by the familiar faces of the group. Shizuni called out that they were back, while Regi declared—almost theatrically—that she, the flower of the Imperial Capital, rivaling even Acidity of the Opera Troupe, had returned.

Zero appeared immediately, grunting that they were late. Regi blinked in surprise, wondering why Zero was making such a fuss. Shizuni, too, was puzzled by the sour reception. Malmvist apologized for Zero’s attitude, while Peshurian happily welcomed them back, saying it was nice to have the base lively again.

Regi, however, was in no mood for this. Shizuni demanded to know what on earth was going on for Zero to be shouting so early in the morning. Zero snapped that the two of them had wandered off to some random town, leaving the group unable to share critical information. He told them to listen up and get ready—the Day of the Dead was coming.

The two women blinked at Zero and asked whether by “getting ready,” he meant that the New Six Arms would be guarding the festival—or perhaps offering some anti-imperial service to the Emperor. Zero raised an eyebrow. That wasn’t even close to what he had in mind, and frankly, he found the suggestion frightening. Instead he clarifies that they're setting up a stall to sell chocolate. Shizuni was taken aback. Zero elaborated: the New Six Arms still held the chocolate-sales rights they won during the Chocolate Cup promotion, and with the Day of the Dead approaching, there was no better time to use them.

Regi remembered the day they received those winnings. It had been at the Grand Arena. Osk, the promoter and merchant, had thanked the crowd for coming to the Promotional Tournament Cup—The Chocolate Cup—held to attract warriors from across the land. Amid thunderous applause, Osk gestured to the VIP seats where Emperor El-Nix was in attendance. After giving a final imperial salute, Osk announced that although the tournament had been arranged as “advertising” to recruit fighters, it far exceeded his expectations. He had witnessed an extraordinary battle.

He proclaimed that this was exactly the sort of spectacle the arena needed. Even amid the ongoing chaos, he wished to express his gratitude to everyone who had delivered such a magnificent fight. On behalf of the audience, he extended heartfelt respect to all participants and declared that, in recognition of their efforts, awards and prizes would be distributed.

Then he announced the winners—Shall, in her idol persona Acidity, and Soi—representing the New Six Arms. Zero approached Osk first, confirming whether the prize truly consisted of five hundred chocolates and whether they would spoil. Osk assured him the product had a long shelf-life, so there was no need for concern. Zero’s team could take as many as they wished, though the sales rights came with certain conditions from the product association that they would discuss later. Zero immediately accepted all five hundred, delighted that his “greedy bunch” would be thrilled. Regi remembered how excited they had been to receive the right to sell chocolate for a time.

Back in the present, Regi sighed with relief. She had assumed Zero had used the sales rights somewhere without telling them. She was glad that was not the case. Zero continued, that in order to get that happy payday, New Six Arms have a lot to do—reserving a stall space, greeting the festival committee, the usual headaches.

If it was that troublesome, Regi reasoned, then perhaps he didn’t need to force himself to sell chocolate during the festival at all. Shizuni added that it wasn’t too late to use some of their sales rights another time—probably. Zero confirmed that was true. When he’d received the rights from Osk, the man had given him a half-hearted warning: ‘Just make sure it’s within the Merchant's Guild’s reach.’

Malmvist noted that merchants—including Osk—were heavily involved in the Day of the Dead festivities and had agreed there was no better day to sell chocolate. Peshurian apologized to Regi and Shizuni for settling on this plan while they were gone, but insisted this was a chance to turn a real profit. That’s why Zero states that they’re selling everything at the highest price possible.

The phrase highest price possible lit up Peshurian’s eyes; after all, the more money, the better. Shizuni suddenly felt motivated as well. Malmvist, however, eyed her skeptically. For all her talk, she didn’t look motivated at all. Shizuni protested that she loved money, therefore she was absolutely motivated. Peshurian thought she was a touch greedy—but had no complaints. Zero nodded approvingly. Liking money meant you had the will to survive. Shizuni agreed, saying it was exactly what she expected from their boss.

Well then Zero states that to make money, he needs to check how chocolate is selling at the E-Rantel Adventurer’s Guild. If it’s priced too high and not moving, it’ll flop at the festival. Regi says that is expected of the boss, impressed, of him thinking that far ahead. But Zero doesn't flattery and he then points to the two women to go and check it out. Regi and Shizuni stared. They had just gotten back.

Zero jokes that since Regi and Shizuni have just returned, they must be eager to head out again. But Shizuni never said anything of the sort. Realizing this, Zero corrects himself, then more politely asks the two if they could investigate how chocolate is made. If the stall at the Day of the Dead festival sells well, New Six Arms might offer their own Imperial chocolate on the second and third days.

Malmvist points out that even if Zero asks someone about a recipe like that, it’s doubtful any of them could actually make it. Peshurian admits that while they can cook simple meals when camping, producing something refined enough to sell—like chocolate—would be difficult. Zero insists that they won’t know unless they try. At that, Malmvist concedes that simply asking is fine, though there’s a chance the person who knows the recipe will demand money to share it… but it might still be worth inquiring.

Even so, Peshurian warns that if Regi and Shizuni go to E-Rantel, he and Malmvist will be stuck preparing and decorating the stall—something that will be a bit of a challenge. Malmvist adds that, in truth, Regi and Shizuni are much better at that sort of work than the other men of New Six Arms. If Zero prefers, he and Peshurian can go to E-Rantel instead to investigate. Zero had considered that… but admits that Regi and Shizuni likely still have ties and connections from their time in E-Rantel. Privately, Regi reflects that she did say from the beginning that she and Shizuni came from E-Rantel. Claiming they have no connections there would look unnatural. Exchanging a glance with Shizuni—both of them undercover agents of Nazarick, Lupusregina and CZ—they confirm that they will handle the mission and expect reasonable results.

In that case, Malmvist concludes, it’s best to send Regi and Shizuni just as the boss instructed. Peshurian reminds the two women that once they return, he’ll be asking them to fix up the stall. Regi assures him that’s fine. Before they depart, Zero gives them one more directive: learn how chocolate is made, how much it sells for in E-Rantel, and how well it sells. Peshurian adds that they should also determine how much New Six Arms might raise the price while still keeping it marketable.

Once Regi and Shizuni are ready to leave, Zero tells them to be careful. He’ll come support them when everything is prepared. After the male members of New Six Arms wish them good luck, Zero begins assigning roles for the festival stall. Malmvist will greet the Executive Committee—he’s the least likely to attract suspicion. Peshurian will reserve their space and begin setting up the stall, and Zero instructs him to remove his helmet when he does so. As for Zero himself, he’ll consult Osku about loading and unloading supplies. Peshurian accepts the job but warns Zero not to expect fancy decorations. This makes Malmvist laugh. Zero then orders the lich Iguva to remain at the hideout and keep inventory. Iguva wishes the rest of the team good luck. And so, each member of New Six Arms sets off to do their part.

At the stockade surrounding Arwintar, Regi asks Shizuni what they should do next. Shizuni wants to confirm the situation with Momonga. Regi also wants to return to Nazarick, but if New Six Arms comes after them to provide support, it would cause complications.

Shizuni agrees—it’s safest to head to E-Rantel for now. Regi concurs, but notes that before going straight there, they need to inform Nazarick of their movements. Shizuni agrees, though she’s unsure when they’ll be able to make contact. It’s a shame they can’t use the Statue of Animal—War Horse, which some infiltrators use to enter E-Rantel, but that would draw attention. People might notice both women using similar methods and suspect a shared origin. Riding a peryton out of sight wouldn’t attract attention once airborne, but… they’d arrive far too quickly. Such unnatural speed would raise suspicion.

Regi concludes that they have no choice but to walk. Still, if they find a suitable carriage along the way, she suggests simply asking for a ride. Which Shizuni finds to be a good idea as it will also serve as proof that they truly are heading to E-Rantel. Regi decides they’ll keep walking until they find a carriage. Then she remembers she forgot to hand over the helmet she bought for their armored comrade, Peshurian. Shizuni points out that they have other friends who wear full-face helmets—specifically the protagonist, the adventurer known as the Dark Hero. Regi decides to give the helmet to him as a souvenir instead. With that, the two women continue toward E-Rantel, looking forward to reporting back to Nazarick.[2]

On the road, Lupusregina and CZ—still using their worker identities, Regi and Shizuni—came across a merchant who had stopped to let his horse rest. They managed to catch a ride on his wagon, allowing them to reach E-Rantel sooner.

When the wagon arrived at the city’s front gate, Regi, Shizuni, the merchant, and two adventurers escorting the caravan all disembarked. Regi thanked the merchant for the ride, saying it had been a great help. Shizuni also expressed her gratitude. The kind merchant accepted their thanks with a smile, saying he’d enjoyed hearing about their adventure.

One of the escorting adventurers added that the trip had been more interesting than usual—otherwise it got boring seeing the same faces going back and forth. The other remarked that the two women were far too skilled to be mere workers. If they ever wanted to become adventurers, they were welcome to join their team.

Shizuni politely declined, saying she preferred to travel light. Regi added that they already had friends on a worker team—and besides, being a worker paid well.

Even so, one adventurer advised them not to take on dangerous jobs and to value their lives first. Regi acknowledged the warning but said this was simply the life they had chosen. With that, the adventurers and the merchant waved goodbye and rode off with their wagon.

Regi and Shizuni entered the city. Regi commented on how the city looked now; she didn’t come to E-Rantel often, and it seemed to have recovered even more since her last visit.

Shizuni suddenly noticed something, and Regi followed her gaze. They saw Saintess Clementine speaking to several children. The saintess asked the kids how life at the orphanage was. A half-elf boy answered that he was getting used to it—and that one day he would become a great adventurer, earn enough to buy his own house, and fight alongside the adamantite-ranked Blue Roses.

Another child boasted that he would defeat all the Chaos Beasts that came out of the Crack, and that everyone would call him a hero. Clementine listened to their dreams with warm encouragement.

After saying goodbye to the saintess, the children ran off. Clementine murmured that a child’s smile could truly brighten a town. She then noticed Regi and Shizuni approaching. Regi recalled that Clementine was a famed saint. Clementine, in turn, recognized the pair from the “Greetings and Victory” dedication ceremony and praised their work. Regi was delighted that even the saint herself had seen their efforts. Shizuni asked about the children, having overheard they were from an orphanage.

Clementine told Regi and Shizuni that they were correct—the children were from an orphanage. They lived in an age where everyone carried some kind of burden on their shoulders, whether it was watching their parents die before their eyes or being abandoned by their fathers.

Regi nodded, agreeing that life was harsh.

Yet Clementine continued, saying that the children still faced each day with a positive attitude. Hearing their stories somehow energized her. It warmed her heart to hear them say things like, “I want to become an adventurer and protect the town.” At the same time, it pained her to think that these children already understood that someone must risk their life for others. She wished adults could offer them more reassurance.

Regi remarked that there was a shortage of adventurers everywhere—something Clementine readily agreed with. But to Shizuni, it seemed as though she could sense a kind of emotional recovery in the people of E-Rantel. Clementine chuckled, saying she too was walking these streets with renewed vigor. Even so, she admitted she still wasn’t familiar with the two of them.

Regi then explained that she and Shizuni were workers from the Empire. Clementine asked whether they had ever considered becoming adventurers in E-Rantel, mentioning that the Adventurer’s Guild here frequently sent people on missions and that the work was interesting.

Regi replied that this was the second time today someone had invited her to become an adventurer. Unfortunately, as Shizuni clarified, they had no intention of taking that path. Clementine said that was a shame. Regi added that as workers, they would go anywhere as long as the pay was right.

Clementine thanked them, saying that if she ever found herself in trouble while her adventurers were away, she would visit the Empire and seek their help. With that, the saintess concluded her business and excused herself.

After she left, Regi commented that E-Rantel truly felt like a place that welcomed anyone. Shizuni agreed—that was only natural, she said, for it was the land of the Quadripartite Alliance. Regi and Shizuni soon arrived in front of the E-Rantel Adventurer’s Guild. Regi glanced toward the entrance and commented that their target, Soi, should be returning to the guild soon.

Shizuni replied that this was what the summoned monsters and others had reported—but they had never been given an exact arrival time. Soi might show up earlier or later than expected. Regi considered the possibility that Soi was already inside and suggested they head in. Shizuni agreed, and together the two entered the guild.

Inside the lobby, Regi scanned the area but saw no sign of Soi. Shizuni proposed they conduct a general survey and wait for a while. They moved deeper into the guild, passing various adventurers—Peter Mauk, Ninya, Brita, and several others—going about their business.

Shizuni observed that the guild was quite lively. Regi agreed; it felt far more bustling than the Adventurer’s Guild in the Empire that she had visited during her research. At the request board, Shizuni noted the sheer number of postings.

Regi looked up at the rows of notices, amazed. She hadn’t expected so many bulletin boards, let alone this many requests. Shizuni suggested they speak with the receptionist about the guild’s chocolate sales situation. Regi nodded in agreement.

At the reception desk, the receptionist greeted Regi and Shizuni as they entered the E-Rantel Adventurer’s Guild. At first, she assumed they were adventurers, but a quick, top-to-bottom glance at both of them made her stop mid-sentence—neither had adventurer plates.

Realizing they weren’t adventurers, she asked politely if they were there to register as adventurers or if they had some other request for the guild.

Shizuni explained that they had come to see the chocolate that had recently become all the rage in E-Rantel. The receptionist smiled and replied that the guild offered a wide variety of items, inviting them to take their time browsing.

Curious, Regi asked if the chocolate was selling well at its current price, noting that it wasn’t exactly cheap. The receptionist confirmed that it was indeed popular. She explained that some clients gifted it to adventurers as a token of appreciation, while others took it along as supplemental food for their journeys. And, of course, there were people like Regi and Shizuni—visitors who weren’t adventurers or clients but still wanted to purchase the guild’s products. Business had grown so much that there had even been discussions about hiring dedicated sales staff for the chocolate.

Shizuni remarked that it really was a huge seller. The receptionist continued, noting that at one point, chocolate sales had threatened to interfere with the guild’s main adventurer-support duties. To manage this, the guild began setting up an outdoor chocolate counter during hours when fewer adventurers were around. This allowed townspeople who were only interested in chocolate to shop without interrupting adventurers. When the guild was busy with adventurers, those just there to buy sweets sometimes had to wait.

Seeing that the reception desk was quiet at the moment, Regi decided to take the opportunity to buy one of each type of chocolate. Shizuni commented that the price seemed reasonable for all the varieties.

The receptionist thanked them warmly, explaining that part of the profits helped train adventurers and covered travel expenses for adventurers sent to understaffed guilds—so their purchases indirectly benefited others as well.

Shizuni nodded approvingly, calling it a good business model, and added that she planned to eat the sweets immediately. The receptionist handed over their chocolates, telling them to take their time.

Regi led Shizuni over to a nearby bench, where they could sit and enjoy their treats.

TBA [3]

After the discussion in the Round Table Room concluded, Lupusregina escorted CZ to the quarters shared by herself, Yuri, and Narberal. Upon entering, they found Yuri and Narberal already inside. Yuri blinked in mild surprise at seeing Lupusregina—and especially CZ—returning from the outside world together. According to Narberal, it was quite rare for CZ to visit their room at all. CZ promptly explained that she wanted Narberal to accompany her and Lupusregina, as their next destination was E-Rantel.

Narberal expressed no objections to another trip beyond Nazarick, though she asked whether it was truly permissible. Lupusregina assured her it was: Demiurge had already prepared a cover story. Narberal would be summoned by the New Six Arms and asked to teach them how to make chocolate, in exchange for their cooperation in selling undead-related goods within the Empire. With that, Narberal listened closely as CZ and Lupusregina explained the details.

If that was the case, Narberal declared confidently that she would handle the matter. Yuri, however, interjected. While acknowledging that Narberal had grown somewhat gentler in her interactions with Kyuko, she questioned whether her sister could speak with outsiders without causing… complications.

Narberal replied that she had engaged with locals several times already and did not expect any problems. If so, Lupusregina suggested, they should run a few practice rounds. Yuri agreed and proposed a role-playing exercise. Narberal was to imagine Yuri as a local resident and speak to her accordingly. Yuri even suggested pretending she was wearing Momonga-themed accessories and working as a salesgirl. Thus, the scene was set: a street in Arwintar, Yuri in a confectioner’s outfit, Narberal in her usual cloak.

Yuri, acting as a passerby, remarked on the rare sweets Narberal appeared to be selling and asked if she might have one—her interest natural, given her profession as a confectioner. Narberal immediately drew her sword, addressed the “confectioner” as a lower creature, and declared that before she would hand over the chocolate, the woman must first admire the Momonga-like accessories.

Lupusregina instantly called for a cut. CZ admitted the attempt had been extremely poor. Lupusregina explained to Narberal that her wording was unacceptable—and furthermore, she absolutely could not openly state that Momonga-themed accessories were modeled after their master. Yuri suggested they try again. This time, she advised Narberal to begin simply with “Welcome,” and then ask, “Where would you like to go?” Lupusregina added that it would help if Narberal could also speak about the positive features of the undead plush toy.

CZ signaled the start of the second attempt. Once more the imagined street in Arwintar appeared: Yuri, the confectioner; Narberal, the cloaked adventurer. Yuri approached and asked about the sweets on display. Narberal greeted her with a “Welcome,” but then continued by noting that the woman had come all the way here despite not being summoned—and concluded by calling her an inferior creature. Still, Narberal mused, it couldn’t be helped, so perhaps it didn’t matter either way— Lupusregina cut the scene again, ending the session. Narberal, confused, protested that she had followed the given lines exactly. Lupusregina explained that she had been forbidden from adding unnecessary remarks. Yuri then clarified that since the other party would effectively function like a customer—and because they were investigating whether or not people feared Momonga’s divine visage—scaring potential subjects would render the investigation useless. Narberal conceded the point. Lupusregina called for another attempt, and so Narberal’s salesgirl training continued…

CZ then departed for the Treasury. Because she would be wearing something resembling Momonga’s face, she could not afford to appear half-hearted. Moreover, Molina had instructed her to gather everything necessary to help ensure the success of the Day of the Dead event. Lupusregina remained with Yuri and Narberal, leaving the task of retrieving the costume to CZ while the other two Pleiades resumed coaching Narberal on how to properly—and politely—interact with humans.

Going back a little earlier, when Narberal began her unexpected training, in the Treasury, Pandora’s Actor was consulting with Demiurge. Demiurge, intending to create accessories modeled after the Sorcerer King, wanted to discuss materials and sizes with the Area Guardian.

Pandora’s Actor suggested that they could use the first-class items left by Momonga in the Treasury, as his master had said they could be repurposed in case of emergency. Demiurge agreed, but added that he didn’t want to create anything that might make the locals uncomfortable. Therefore, he planned to use local materials for the project.

Demiurge had even brought some materials he had previously obtained locally, which were considered premium quality in the area. He had planned to use these materials when crafting Momonga’s throne. Now, he asked Pandora’s Actor if he would like to help him select the best ones.

Pandora’s Actor agreed to help. Demiurge laid out the materials he had brought, and Pandora’s Actor picked one of them. Demiurge explained that this particular material had a great texture and felt perfect to the touch. However, Pandora’s Actor remarked that while the texture was fine, the color seemed a bit dull. Demiurge agreed and mentioned that he also had part of a Defensive Tree. He noted that few woods were as high-quality and durable as this particular one. Pandora’s Actor observed that the wood gave off a rough, primal feel. He wondered if the earlier material might actually be a better choice, as this one didn’t convey the refined impression he was hoping for.

Demiurge acknowledged that the material did indeed have a somewhat barbaric vibe. At that moment, Pandora’s Actor inquired about the bone among the materials. It had a beautiful bluish hue, and Pandora’s Actor thought it might work well for the project too.

Demiurge recalled that, in the past, he and Slimeko had conducted an outside interview to gather information about ingredients suitable for the Supreme Being. They had specifically gone to the Adventurer’s Guild to find rare game meats that weren’t available in the markets. Even the rarest and most valuable ingredients in the human world were limited to species that were kept within Nazarick, or even fewer in number. The task assigned to Slimeko and the protagonist was to find ingredients even more worthy of the Supreme Being than those already within Nazarick.

This search led them to the Azerlisia Mountains, where Shalltear personally hunted a Pure White Peryton. After capturing it alive, she, along with the protagonist and Slimeko, brought it back to Nazarick. Demiurge harvested the Peryton’s horns, as the species was extremely rare and had been hunted specifically for Momonga’s benefit. He had left the horns in storage until now but decided it was time to bring them out for the accessories. Pandora’s Actor suggested using the material from the Defensive Tree for practice since there wasn’t much of it left. He suggested crafting some prototypes before moving on to the actual horns from the Peryton.

Demiurge agreed and planned to create a few prototypes using the tree material and then make the final accessories using the Peryton horns. Demiurge then asked Pandora’s Actor to transform into Momonga. Pandora’s Actor, having received a message from Momonga requesting his cooperation with Demiurge, complied and used his ability to transform into the Sorcerer King. Demiurge thanked Pandora’s Actor, and the crafting of the prototypes began. Demiurge carefully selected the materials, his face serious as silence settled over the Treasury.

At that moment, CZ entered the room. Seeing Pandora’s Actor in the form of Momonga, she initially mistook him for the Sorcerer King. Pandora’s Actor explained that he was not Momonga, but simply borrowing his appearance to assist Demiurge. CZ asked about the process of making the accessories modeled after Momonga.

Demiurge, focusing intently on his work, replied that it was going well but that he was too absorbed in the task to talk much. CZ understood, as creating something worthy of the Supreme Being left no room for failure. Pandora’s Actor then asked CZ if she needed help with anything. CZ explained that she needed equipment to match the Momonga accessories. Since she would be wearing something modeled after him, she didn’t want to appear shabby.

Demiurge told Pandora’s Actor that it was okay for him to leave now and assist CZ. Pandora’s Actor returned to his original form and followed CZ to the front entrance of the Treasury, where mounds of treasure lay. Pandora’s Actor asked what kind of equipment CZ had in mind. CZ responded: “I’d like something that would suit a chocolate vendor. By the way, humans are dressing up as undead for the Day of the Dead.” Pandora’s Actor thought it would be wise to choose something that would stand out, so CZ wouldn’t get lost among the crowd of undead costumes.

Pandora’s Actor also reflected that there were people who wanted to ‘show the rebuilt town to the deceased,’ so the accessories and decorations should convey the feeling that society had recovered and that people had overcome the struggles of the past. Since the festival was being held in the Empire, he suggested they wear devilish costumes, almost as a statement: “To ensure the devil never returns.”

CZ agreed that the equipment should stand out, and she thought Zero would be pleased with the choice. Pandora’s Actor then presented two pieces of equipment, perfect for CZ and Lupusregina’s undercover identities of “Shizuni” and “Regi.” CZ accepted them.

Suddenly, a [Message] alert chimed. CZ answered it, listening intently for a while before ending the spell. She explained that the message was from Iguva and the New Six Arms, who were waiting at their hideout. The members of the New Six Arms were heading to E-Rantel, so she had to leave immediately. Pandora’s Actor understood, bowing slightly as CZ left the Treasury. He then returned to Demiurge in the Inner Sanctum of the Treasury to inquire about the progress of the Momonga accessories.

Demiurge explained that it was difficult to hand over the accessories at this stage. He would arrange for someone to deliver them to the Pleiades. However, he noted that managing someone with an undercover identity, especially one with strong ties, was always a challenge. Pandora’s Actor commented that, depending on how things were going in the field, they often got swept up in unexpected events. CZ, in particular, always seemed to be on the move—just when he thought she would return, she would rush off again. Seeing it firsthand reminded Pandora’s Actor that the lives of those with undercover identities were far from simple. Demiurge agreed completely. The two of them reflected on the complex lives of those with undercover identities, where “human relationships” often played a major role in their decisions and actions.[4]

And so, preparations for the Day of the Dead began. Lupusregina, CZ, and Narberal arrived at a hill overlooking the fortress-city of E-Rantel. After taking in the view, the three split up according to plan, agreeing to regroup later. Meanwhile, Malmvist was already in E-Rantel, making his way to the Adventurer’s Guild. Having finished most of the necessary festival preparations in Arwintar, he had come here specifically to seek out people from the Sorcerer Kingdom.

The first person who came to mind—someone from the Sorcerer Kingdom who would know how to make chocolate—was the protagonist. Malmvist figured he might be at the Adventurer’s Guild, so he entered and approached the receptionist, asking whether she had seen two female workers. He explained that the pair didn’t resemble each other much but were in fact sisters—cheerful, absent-minded, and often together. The receptionist nodded, saying they tended to linger around the guild.

Recognizing the description as the two who had bought chocolates earlier, she added that they had recently spoken with the adamantite-rank adventurer Soi. Malmvist knew that name: Soi was the woman who had teamed up with the protagonist, which meant his search was going well.

When he asked where they had gone, the receptionist explained that, as payment for guiding them to the protagonist’s mansion, the sisters had promised to help Soi with the new request she’d taken on. A nearby gold-rank adventurer, overhearing this, burst into laughter and joked that the pair was probably being bossed around to haul luggage. Ignoring him, Malmvist asked the receptionist how long Soi’s request would take.

Given Regi and Shizuni’s skill, the receptionist estimated only a day or two. Just then, a cheerful voice called out from behind, addressing him warmly as “Maru.” Startled, Malmvist turned to see Regi and Shizuni themselves. The gold-rank adventurer, noticing them, chuckled that speaking of someone must summon their shadow.

Growing increasingly irritated by the man’s comments, Malmvist silently wondered who he even was. Then he turned his attention to the two teammates he had been searching for. As expected, they were accompanied by the adventurer Soi.

Regi asked Malmvist— or rather “Maru,” as she called him—whether he had come to assist them. Malmvist blinked in confusion at the unfamiliar name before it dawned on him: they were giving him an alias so the other nearby adventurers wouldn’t overhear his real one. Even understanding the reason, the name still sounded awful to him… and even Soi admitted that keeping track of all these aliases was getting tiring.

Malmvist greeted Soi; it had been a while, not since the Chocolate Cup event. The female adventurer smiled, glad to see he was doing well, and teasingly addressed him as Maru. He grimaced and told her to knock it off before turning to Regi and Shizuni. And asks if either of them know how to make chocolate.

They both shook their heads. Regi explained that she had actually tried to ask the protagonist about it, but he’d apparently left E-Rantel on a request, so she hadn’t been able to meet him—though she did at least know where his mansion was.

So the protagonist had gone out on a request but left Soi behind. Malmvist found that odd, but Soi quickly brushed it off. It wasn’t as if she was formally part of his team or anything. That confused Malmvist further; he could have sworn that she, the protagonist, and that other woman referred to their team as Darkness. Soi simply sighed and said it happened all the time—people mixed things up. Just like Regi and Shizuni.

With that, the adventurer waved and headed off to collect her reward, hoping to see the workers again sometime. Regi and Shizuni agreed that spending time with Soi had actually been pretty fun. But once Soi left, Malmvist let out a long sigh, wondering what they were supposed to do now. Their boss, Zero, definitely wouldn’t be pleased—they still hadn’t managed to arrange a meeting with the protagonist. Regi and Shizuni both grimaced at the thought of being scolded, but there wasn’t much they could do. Shizuni, in particular, had no idea who else might know how to make chocolate.

With no options left, Malmvist finally decided that their only remaining choice was to file a request here at the Adventurer’s Guild. When his female teammate asked what kind of request he meant, Malmvist explained, if they put out a request for information—either on anyone from the Sorcerer Kingdom, or on chocolate-making—they should be able to get results quickly.

Regi frowned as what about the compensation? She doesn’t want to spend their money on this. Malmvist shrugged as they’ll just have Iguva cover the difference later as part of their operating expenses. If that’s the case, Regi perking up states that then she’d like “Maru” to pay for it. Malmvist exhaled in resignation and nodded. There really wasn’t any other way.

At that moment, a gold-rank adventurer—who had been lingering nearby ever since Malmvist arrived—leaned over the counter and told the workers that he knew someone from the Sorcerer Kingdom. He added that he’d be happy to share what he knew… for a price.

Malmvist, desperate for a lead, agreed to pay him directly, even offering the extra amount the guild would have taken as their commission. The gold-rank adventurer grinned and said he knew a woman from the Sorcerer Kingdom—blunt, stunningly beautiful, comparable even to Malmvist’s two companions. She had dark eyes and black hair, looking like she hailed from the south. According to rumors, if you spoke to her too casually, she would look at you as though you were garbage.

Ironically, that very woman—Narberal—was standing just behind him, visibly irritated that someone was speaking about her without permission. The adventurer turned, froze for a second, then laughed nervously as it was rare to see her at the guild.

He then quickly asked Malmvist to hand him his payment. The worker, more than happy to get rid of him, handed over a pouch of coins. The adventurer grabbed it and made a hasty exit.

Narberal, having witnessed the exchange, demanded to know why the adventurer had been paid a reward for finding her. Malmvist explained that it was simply because she was from the Sorcerer Kingdom, and then immediately asked whether she knew how to make chocolate.

She challenged him, asking what he would do if she did. Malmvist explained his goal: he intended to feature chocolate at the Empire’s Day of the Dead festival. The venue was already booked, the contract signed, and he was prepared to compensate her for any information she could provide.

Narberal appeared intrigued. She had a few items she wanted to sell as well, and offered to discuss the matter if she could display her goods at his festival stall as her compensation.

Malmvist said it depended on what she planned to sell. Narberal, however, refused to reveal it inside the guild, worrying it might be copied. Regi suggested they move outside, and Narberal found that acceptable.

The four of them stepped out of the guild. Malmvist once again asked what she intended to sell. Only then did Narberal reveal her product—an undead-themed stuffed toy.

Malmvist’s expression tightened. He admitted it would fit the Day of the Dead aesthetic perfectly, but still muttered that the toy was in poor taste.

Narberal immediately bristled, fury simmering beneath her calm exterior. Malmvist wiped away cold sweat, unable to understand why she was taking it so personally. Shizuni, claiming she wasn’t angry at all, remarked that Malmvist must simply have odd taste, because she found nothing wrong with the toy and even thought it was adorable. Regi quickly agreed, saying Maru had no sense whatsoever and threatening to shave his head or strip him naked for insulting a perfectly good product.

Malmvist tried to defend himself, asking if anyone would actually want such an item. He didn’t mind selling it, but he doubted it would attract buyers. His words only made things worse—Narberal, Shizuni, and Regi were now visibly radiating hostility.

Narberal calmly stated that she needed to clear up a few things before they departed, her hand drifting toward her sword as she took a combat stance. Malmvist gave a strained smile. He found her interesting, at least, and accepted the challenge, boasting of his skills as a member of Six Arms and his reputation as Thousand Kills.

His own teammates, however, expressed no confidence in his victory. They warned him to brace himself for a beating, leaving him confused and irritated as to why they were suddenly taking the other side.

The scene shifts to Regi, Shizuni, Narberal, and Malmvist seated in the open-air section of a tavern. Regi is visibly relieved to be back in Arwintar, the imperial capital, and Shizuni agrees—she prefers the open air. Narberal, however, notes that the city still feels crowded with “moldy creatures,” earning her a few puzzled looks.

Malmvist, still sore from his duel with Narberal, tries to relax. During their return trip, the three women repeatedly insisted he was insane for failing to appreciate the “good points” of the stuffed toy Narberal carried around. Bit by bit, he began to reconsider. Now, he has to admit—albeit reluctantly—that the doll is… creepy cute.

Regi looks out at the bustling streets, remarking on how lively everything already is. With the Day of the Dead approaching, the crowds will only grow. Before long, the group leaves the tavern and returns to the New Six Arms’ hideout.

There, Zero listens as Narberal explains her request: she wants permission to sell her stuffed toys at their festival stall. In exchange, she will give New Six Arms her chocolate recipe. She adds that she obtained approval from her three companions, which is why she came all the way to the Empire.

Zero has no objections but asks to inspect the toys she plans to sell. Narberal produces one—a stuffed undead—and Zero picks it up to examine. He nods approvingly. The craftsmanship is fine, and with the Day of the Dead coming, it’s a perfect fit.

Malmvist, meanwhile, silently wonders how he ended up in a world where everyone around him is discussing undead plushies with a straight face. Narberal, however, beams with satisfaction when Zero praises her work.

Zero then asks if she can teach him how to make chocolate. Narberal agrees but warns she will only explain once, so he must pay attention. She then launches into a detailed explanation of the process. When she finishes, Zero is overwhelmed—there are so many ingredients he has never even heard of. Do they really exist? Narberal confirms they do. She has used them herself, but everything was sourced from the Sorcerer Kingdom; she has never seen those ingredients in E-Rantel.

Zero muses that if E-Rantel doesn’t import these materials, he won’t be able to make chocolate at all. Perhaps he could attempt a substitute? Peshurian immediately objects—if they make bad chocolate, it could ruin the market for the real thing. Malmvist adds that this is not a problem they can solve in just a few days.

Zero slumps in disappointment. He had hoped this would be their chance to make a fortune. Narberal apologizes if her information was unhelpful, but Zero dismisses her concern. It is what it is, he says, and a promise is a promise—she may join him at the front of the stall during the Day of the Dead festival.

Narberal accepts gratefully. Zero then warns her in advance that New Six Arms employs an actual undead. During the festival many citizens will dress up as undead, and Iguva, the elder lich in their ranks, will also be participating. He calls for Iguva to step forward, and the lich emerges from the shadows.

Narberal greets the undead calmly. Impressed, Zero praises her composure—she didn’t flinch at the sight of an elder lich. Regi laughs and retorts that Iguva doesn’t scream when he sees the boss’s scary face either, so it’s hardly surprising.

Zero blinks, not understanding he’s the target of the joke. Shizuni piles on, remarking that it would be a real problem if his frightening face scared customers away from the stall. Malmvist chimes in that this is exactly why Zero will be in costume during the festival. The entire room bursts into laughter—everyone except Zero himself.

Later that night, Regi, Shizuni, and Narberal gather privately in their hotel room. Regi is still giggling over Zero’s reaction to their teasing. Shizuni shakes her head in sympathy; the man has no idea how intimidating his face really is.

Narberal, however, finds him perfectly acceptable—after all, anyone who appreciates the charm of undead stuffed toys can’t be bad. Regi scoffs, still annoyed that Malmvist couldn’t recognize the brilliance of the toy modeled after their master, Momonga. He’s lucky his ignorance didn’t get him turned into a corpse.

Narberal agrees wholeheartedly. A Momonga-based stuffed toy is far too magnificent for humans—what she bluntly calls “lower creatures.” The idea that it wouldn’t sell is unthinkable. Regi concurs. Shizuni then mentions that Momonga’s accessories should be finished soon for the festival. When Narberal asks if Demiurge is crafting them, Shizuni confirms it. The accessories will be delivered as soon as they’re complete.[5]

On the day of the festival, the main street of Arwintar was crowded with undead creatures. Such as a skeleton mage walking with woman and an elder lich. A boy and a ghoulwith a skeleton warrior.

Present are New Six Arms: Peshurian, Malmvist, Zero, Shizuni, and Regi. Zero finds the crowds of undead in the streets an amazing sight. To which Malmvist agrees as everybody seems pretty motivated. Peshurian thinks they would stand out more if they were dressed as usual.

Shizuni points out that Peshrian is less visible as usual. Regi adds he always stands out with his full plate armor. But even so, with that many people, the workers can expect sales to be good.

Malmvist informs everyone that he asked Iguva to look after the store in the morning, but he wonders how it will go. Just as Reginis about to give a response, the adventurer Shall approaches dressed as a nurse. Seeing her Zero greets the female adventurer.

Some time prior, at Momonga’s office, Demourge presents his liege a finished accessories. Momonga examining the items replies that it’s well done, causing the demon to bathe in the praise with gratitude. From the item, Momonga notices that they have been slightly beautified. He wonders if it looks cooler if the bones around some areas are more pointed.

To explain the accessories purposes, Demiurge states that one was made as a head accessory, and the other as a mask. The mask can be worn anywhere when not on the face. It can be worn as an accessory, so that even after the festival, the townspeople can incorporate Momonga—no, the undead—into their everyday fashion.

Momonga commends the thought. And finds it’s a wonderful piece of work that not only covers this experiment and investigation, but also anticipates what will happen afterwards. Momonga thinks all that is left is to call Shalltear to bring her the finished mask.

Demiurge agrees and steps away briefly to attend to this task. Momonga now alone thinks about the plan, that by spreading the word that Shall, who is popular in the Imperial Capital, will also be coming to the festival, many people from outside the capital will come, sales will increase, and it will also be possible to gauge the reaction of people from outside the capital to the undead

Furthermore, it could help those outside the Imperial Capital to reduce their aversion to the undead and become accustomed to them. This apparently an idea that Albedo and Demiurge's conceived which Momonga still finds to be amazing.

The Sorcerer King’s thoughts drift to the idol group LittleMassT. He remembers that Shalltear as Acidity is popular among the masses. It is said that the people living in the outskirts said that she has a very high level of favorability due to the opera company's visits and the investigation and resolution of problems.

Back in streets of Arwintar, Zero and Regi converse with Shall. The leader of New Six Arms expresses that she came to the festival. And that it has been a while since the recent event at the arena - the performance by the Opera Entertainment Troupe.

Shall finds it to be a good day with a beautiful weather, perfect for a festival. Seeing that the workers are not dressed up she wonders if they are on business. The adventurer is right as confirmed by Regi, who asks that since Shall is in costume, does that mean she's paying tribute to someone?

Shall states that to be correct, her precious family died because of the Crack, so she started wandering around. Hence why she dressed up so that none of them would have to become undead——by leading to world to mistakenly believe that her family has already become undead.

Zero sympathizes as everyone has lost something. He decided to end the conversation as his team have to head back to the store. Shall promises to stop by later to which Zero in good spirit says they will be waiting.

Zero, Peshurian and Malmvist then head out first. Shall watching them go, discreetly hands something to Regi and Shizuni. It’s something Demiurge worked hard so she didn't forget to bring this with her. Afterwards Shall splits from Regi and Shizuni who then follow after the male members of New Six Arms.

At the store, Zero asks Iguva how things were while the rest of New Six Ames were away. Though he knows better to asks as there was an empty space around Zero's stall, and people were looking at the store from a distance.

Zero guesses the rotting skeleton face is too much. The store was selling well when it was just a standing skeleton. Malmvist thought that a skeleton alone couldn’t handle money transactions, so he  had Iguva stand in too— but looks like that backfired on him.

Even among the costumes, Shizuni sees that there’s no one whose face looks rotted. That said, Zero has Iguva stand back and take care of the goods and the money. Iguva believes that sounds better than dealing with stupid humans before he heads to the back.

Zero then directs Narberal, Shizuni, and Malmvist to make sure Narberal's products are displayed nicely. Regi is about to help, but Zero has her do something else. He wants her to sing from the heart to draw some customers.

For that Regi needs to change her clothes. She is urged on by Peshurian as the customers have disappeared.  Before she can say anything, Peshurian drag is her out front despite protests she needs to change.

Narberal and CZ watch the scene with silence, before Malmvist asks where to put the inventory for the store. Zero then tells the women to make the store more lively. Shizuni then moves forward to change into her costume.

Letting her do that, Zwrobtells Shizuni to come back soon. Well, since the the soliciting has already been done, the leader of New Six Arms is anticipating that the customers will come soon.

While checking the stall, he hears Narberal muttering g welcome. He tells her that no one can hear her muttering like that. Seeing that there is another outfit, the monk suggests she put that on.

Even though Narberal is focused on the investigation into the aversion to Momonga's face and is an important matter that must be carried out, since she doesn’t know how long it will take for Lupusregina to return, she decides to comply.

Narberal as she goes to change her clothes comments to herself that "complicated human relationships" and "continuing to maintain a false identity" must be tough. And is sure Lupusregina would have liked to shake off the armored man and stay at the stall. But guesses being dragged away like that was the right way to stay undercover which must be tough for her sister.

Narberal realized how difficult it would be to maintain an undercover identity and went to get changed. Then, when the she and Shizuni were ready, Zero was told to stay back because his face was scary.

Narberal and Shizuni soon appeared in black dresses with skeleton accessories, and ran stall. Narberal welcomes customers, offering an undead plush toys, advertising that their deceased loved one would be grateful when they buy one for them for the days that it will be with them even as they decay.

A woman was the first customer, requesting a bag of chocolates. After that, several children arrived hoping to buy stuffed animals. Narberal managed to remain polite, even complimenting them on their good taste. Thanks to her intensive training with Yuri, she was able to handle the situation without looking down on the human guests.

Perhaps because Lupusregina was somewhere drawing in more customers, the New Six Arms’ stall quickly became a huge success. Before long, Narberal and Shizuni reported back to Zero, informing him that they had sold almost all their chocolates and other goods. Zero noticed that a few undead-themed stuffed animals were still left, but that was fine—he was looking forward to seeing how the chocolate sales would continue.

Just then, a commotion arose outside the stall. Shizuni noticed it first, spotting a group of people arguing. Zero was taken aback, wondering why anyone would cause trouble—of all days—during a festival. Narberal grew especially worried. If the festival were shut down to maintain public order, New Six Arms wouldn’t be able to sell the remaining stuffed animals. She declared that they needed to take control of the situation and moved to investigate ahead of the others.

As Narberal moved toward the commotion, Zero, Malmvist, and Shizuni quickly followed. Before leaving, Malmvist instructed the elder lich Iguva to guard the stall’s earnings. With that responsibility entrusted, the three workers hurried after Narberal.

The disturbance turned out to be a group of drunken men brawling in the street. Zero and his comrades intervened, breaking up the fight and handing the culprits over to security. Zero pulled one of the drunks aside, scolding him for going too far, while Malmvist seized another by the arm, sternly pointing out the trouble he was causing. One large drunk insisted he was the victim, claiming the other stumbling man had hit him first.

A security knight finally arrived, taking the disorderly men into custody and thanking the workers for their help in maintaining the peace. As the knight dragged the troublemakers away, Narberal remarked that they had managed to avert a great deal of unnecessary trouble.

An elderly grandmother approached them, expressing heartfelt thanks for quelling the disturbance. She said it felt as though her late daughter had returned to protect the town in its moment of need.

Shizuni accepted the gratitude politely, then reminded the others of New Six Arms that they needed to return to the stall. Before leaving, Zero told the grandmother that if she ever needed help, she should call for the workers of New Six Arms.

Returning to their stall, Zero felt reassured to see Iguva dutifully guarding the proceeds. However, just then, a man dashed past the elder lich. In that instant, Zero and the others clearly saw the man’s face was hidden—and as Iguva turned his head for only a moment, the stranger slipped an undead-themed stuffed animal into his clothes.

Realizing the man was stealing from the stall, Zero shouted for Iguva to seize the thief. The elder lich obeyed immediately, grabbing the man as the rest of the team rushed over. Iguva growled that the human had some nerve attempting to steal from him, even as the thief struggled wildly.

Somehow, the man managed to wrench himself free. But the adventurer Shall, appearing on the scene and refusing to tolerate theft at a festival meant for people to support one another, struck the man with a decisive punch. He collapsed, allowing her to pin him down and restrain him.

The thief squawked as he was restrained, insisting he only wanted to take a look at the New Six Arms stall and begging to be released. A security knight arrived, demanding to know what the commotion was this time. Malmvist explained that the thief had been trying to steal his teammates’ goods and asked that he be taken away. The knight complied, dragging the thief off in front of the watching crowd.

Shall guessed that incidents like this were bound to happen at festivals. Zero, annoyed by the attention this was drawing, thanked the female adventurer for helping apprehend the thief. Shall didn’t mind—she had actually been hoping to get an undead plushie herself. Hearing that, Zero offered her the last one.

Narberal hesitantly complied, but as she handed the stuffed toy to Shall, she whispered the adventurer’s true name, Shalltear, and asked whether having someone from Nazarick buy the doll would cause problems with the proper tally. Shall responded discreetly that Demiurge had instructed her to stir up a commotion and make sure as many people as possible saw that the “last one” had been “bought by Shall.” It was the final item, and a special one at that—desired by the popular adventurer girl known as Shall. The frustration of realizing they couldn’t get it would inevitably create the next business opportunity.

Narberal now understood: the goal was to create customers who wanted undead-themed products and felt even less aversion to them. She also realized that the thief and the security guard earlier had been Shall’s doing. Shall whispered that they had been doppelgängers she’d brought from Nazarick, and that Iguva, the elder lich manning the store, had been informed of the plan.

Zero, unaware of their conversation, told the women to stop muttering—there was a kid who wanted one as well, so if Shall wasn’t buying it, he would sell it to someone else.

Shall casually replied that she had only been asking how it was made. Naturally, she intended to buy it. Narberal then thanked Shall. This disappointed the boy who had wanted the plushie; his father, dressed as a skeleton warrior, said there was nothing they could do now that it was sold out and guided his fuming child away.

Narberal noted that Shalltear’s expected reaction from the crowd was already obvious. Shall then made a show of boasting about how cute the plushie was and how delighted she was. The people who had been watching the New Six Arms stall since the earlier commotion looked rather sad to see the undead stuffed toy being carried away.

With everything now sold, Zero declared the stall a great success. By the way, he asked Shizuni why she was dressed as a devil. Shizuni explained that her costume was meant to ensure His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Jircniv, was never threatened by demons again—she was deceiving the public into believing demons already existed in the Empire.

Zero laughed, saying he would tell Jircniv that he’d dressed his vendors as demons. Soon after, Peshurian and Regi walked over. The first thing Regi asked was how the stall’s sales had gone, while Peshurian noted they had drawn quite a crowd.

Regi asked if they had sold out. Zero laughed triumphantly, saying it was all thanks to them—they had just sold the last stuffed toy. Naturally, the chocolates had sold out quickly as well, and hiring Narberal as a salesperson had been a great idea.

Regi then noticed Narberal was wearing the costume she’d prepared for the festival. Narberal explained she had borrowed it because her “boss” over there had said it was fine.

Regi was left speechless, while the members of New Six Arms burst into laughter. And so, the festival continued into the night.[6]

Aftermath[]

At the Imperial Palace, Emperor Jircniv is holding court with his three Imperial Knights, Nimble Arc Dale Anoch, Leinas Rockbruise and Baziwood Peshmel. Nimble reports that the Day of the Dead festival, granted permission by His Majesty, appears to have been a great success. Baziwood adds that his wives enjoyed attending the festival. Jircniv is please, glad that his trust in Osk being in charge would be a success. But admits that sometimes they need to let the people do what they want. Leinas gives her own account of going to the festival. On the day of the festival when the arena was opened, recounts that there were stuffed monsters for the people in the arena, and there was food and drink inside. To her it was quite an interesting experience. Nimble adds that she also had his subordinates go buy some chocolate.

Jircniv muses that some people may be able to release their frustrations in a place that isn't provided by the government. He is sure that it was a good time for many. The Emperor then asks if there were any problems with security. Aside from a few drunken brawls as Baziwood reports there were no thefts. Though he keeps to himself that there were eyewitness reports of someone being taken away by security for theft. And yet, neither the guards nor the thief are anywhere to be found. It's strange, but the knight assumes everyone was probably drunk at the time. The Emperor comments that consumption among the people has increased considerably, which is the best thing. And that the city is bustling with activity.

Meanwhile, at the New Six Arms, where its members Peshurian, Malmvist, Zero, Shizuni and Regi have gathered. Zero announces that they made a huge profit, and it was a definitely a good idea to use the chocolate sales rights for the Day of the Dead. In response of the new funds, Malmvist wonders if it would be alright to take a vacation without taking any requests. Peshurian thinks of using his cut to have a girl attend to him and have some fun. While the guys plans sound fun to Regi, she tells her comrades she heard about things called swimsuits being sold in the Sorcerer Kingdom, and thinks of getting one to wear to swim in a lake and play. Shizuni though is all for a stay in an expensive inn and taking a nap.

Zero though tells them to stop talking nonsense, as when they get this much money, there is only one thing to do. The workers are all confused on what he means. The leader of the worker team then states that chocolate sells like crazy. There is no way for those people would just give up on making and selling it. Now that New Six Arms have finally got some operating funds, he wants to go look for them. Shizuni thinks he is referring to those people as the famous confectioners, but Zero is talking about getting reconnected with some old associates. Chocolate being made with an ingredient that is something which he is unfamiliar with, but if they manage to recreate it, it will bring in a fortune. New Six Arms will use his old connections---Eight Fingers---to track down the raw materials.

Peshurian thinks that a fair use of the money. But he never thought he be using their old connections they built during their time with Eight Fingers. Zero is sure members of the old criminal network are thriving somewhere. Malmvist though brings up a concern on if Eight Fingers could be regaining their former strength? Zero makes it clear that he has no intention of quitting New Six Arms. But he doesn't intend to force his comrades to do the same. His goal is after all to be a knight. Both Peshurian and Malmvist though have no intention of abandoning their boss, willing to stick by him as workers. As is Shizuni and Regi.

Regi asks if they should start the search for Eight Fingers? Though Malmvist states that it can wait, which Peshurian agrees as he is tired. Zero tells them that they will plan their departure for another day, for now they will drink to celebrate the success of the Day of the Dead. As the men get excited for the celebrating, they ask Regi to start and play as a lady and wait on them to her confusion. And so New Six Arms indulged in fine wine to celebrate the success of the festival.

Later at the Round Table Room in the Great Tomb of Nazarick, Lupusregina and CZ having returned from the Empire to report to Momonga and the Floor Guardians about the Day of the Dead. Momonga having heard of the results of the pairs investigation, from Shalltear and Narberal, who returned earlier, deems them having done an excellent work. As for the reactions to his face---including the mask and accessories, during the festival, Momonga asks if there was any aversion or disgust directed at Iguva.

CZ reports that she wore a mask, but no one seemed annoyed. Aside from the fact that it was such a special occasion, she thinks it was a good experience. Momonga had also heard that Narberal was wearing accessories, and apparently people have asked for them. Though feels conflicted as he wishes for people to stop buying his face. In any event, having Narberal wear Lupusregina’s costume was a good decision to Momonga. He then applauds the women’s teamwork on the festival.

However, though it was a success, Momonga adds that this incident has highlighted the importance of being cautious when dispatching and using elder liches.

Lupusregina comments that elder liches are more useful. Since Iguva is also one, displayed being more than capable of delicate work than skeletons. What’s striking to Demiurge was that hardly any products were sold while Iguva was tending the shop. His face was half-rotten and barely holding together, and it seems there were even people who couldn’t stand to so much as look at him.

Narberal states it wasn't so bad when skeletons were tending the store, so it seems the aversion to the undead has faded. On this the 7th Floor Guardian agrees as in the future, when dispatching undead, the Sorcerer Kingdom will need to be careful when mobilizing bodies that still have flesh left on them, such as zombies.

Albedo supposes its because they look too pitiful. She expected the living to react poorly to undead beings, but even an elder lich —with all that intelligence—is still unwelcome. In response Narberal belittles humanity for being selfish creatures. But as Albedo determines that there's no other way. From now on, both the Empire and E-Rantel will need to continue sending in undead. When they do, they'll need to be careful about the type of undead they send out.

Momonga finally asks his undercover operatives on what about Zero's moves. Lupusregina answers that Zero has also begun to move exactly as Momonga intended. It seems he’s starting to search for the former members of Eight Fingers. He believes they must be keep low somewhere.

Aside from laughing at Zero’s foolishness, Demiurge tells the maids to keep him updated on Zero's status. By the way, CZ mentions she already returned the salesgirl equipment to Pandora's Actor, but asks what about the mask made by Demiurge? Narberal too asks what they will you do with the Momonga accessories she borrowed?

Since it is modeled after the face of Momonga, it is an unparalleled treasure——according to Demiurge. Albedo suggests that they keep them safe. To which Demiurge believes that they should be given to Pandora’s Actor in the Treasury.

Momonga then makes a joke that even, if they had that mask, no one would’ve noticed if he joined in too. He wonders if he should have gone with the maids as a fellow vendor. After all, everyone around was dressed up as undead anyway. The Floor Guardians though deny that they would not have noticed. However Momonga reminds them that he was speaking in jest, causing the Floor Guardians to breathe a sigh of relief.

Even so Momonga thinking to himself really wishes he had gone to the human city during the festival. Of course Momonga couldn't tell anyone what he was feeling.[7]
