Doomsday Clock (終末時計 (しゅうまつどけい) ) was an item created by Demiurge.

Description[]

In fear of the possibility that Ainz Ooal Gown may leave the Great Tomb of Nazarick and abandon its inhabitants as did the rest of the Forty-One Supreme Beings, Demiurge constructed the Doomsday Clock to measure the constant treat of abandonment. It was situated on the 7th Floor and monitored by Demiurge and the Evil Lords while he was on assignment in the Abelion Hills. The Floor Guardians attempted to diligently follow through by keeping Ainz happy, though were disappointed to see that the clock was always 5 minutes to "midnight". Later it was found out that the status was due to Demiurge's lack of appreciating his own achievements to Momonga and hence always possessing an underlying fear of being discarded. After Albedo and Shalltear Bloodfallen arranged for Ainz to share some quality time with Demiurge at Spa Resort Nazarick, Demiurge made jovial by the experience took the clock down, as his fear of Ainz Ooal Gown abandoning them was unfounded.[1]

Appearance[]

The Doomsday Clock resembled a street clock on a post, save that it only shows a quarter of the clock with the numerals of IX, X, XI, and XII.

Abilities[]

The device was used as a measuring the hypothetically likelihood Ainz Ooal Gown would abandon Nazarick. The closer the handles reached "midnight" signified a catastrophe. It was believed by Demiurge that by keeping Ainz pleased and happy that the threat of abandonment could be abated and reversed. Tracking of the needle was done by Demiurge's strict standards and tasked by the Evil Lords to account and measure.

Trivia[]

  • The "Doomsday Clock" in the real world is symbol that warns the public about how close humanity is close to destroying the world in the likelihood of a human-made global catastrophe.
