Demiurge Ranch's is a ranch where a certain animal called Abelion Sheep is bred and its skin is harvested to make into parchment for magic scrolls. The operation was begun by the 7th Floor Guardian, a month after the Bloody Valkyrie Incident.

The ranch originally began as an encampment of tents where NPCs from the Great Tomb of Nazarick established themselves. Afterwards under the orders of Demiurge several locals from the area such as human villagers and demi-humans were brought there.[1] When peeling the skin from the ranch's captives the operators found it difficult to secure sufficient quantities, so Demiurge devised a method to revitalize the skin by applying restorative healing to the skinned victim. Using this method it became possible to repeatedly peel the skin from the same being. Because children have better quality skin, Demiurge began forcing parents to skin their offspring's' skin. In an attempt to improve the quality further, Demiurge began to develop a breeding program, but found that different species had different tastes in appearance, thus prompting him to use charm magic.[2]

Chronology[]

The Lizard Man Heroes Arc[]

Under Ainz Ooal Gown's orders, Demiurge was dispatched to investigate the Roble Holy Kingdom and established a camp in the wilderness area.[3] At his camp he was assisted by Pulcinella and a Torturer who began capturing the locals and then proceeded to skin them to make high quality parchment to replenish Nazarick's supply. Additionally he confirmed through an experiment of the limits of healing magic.[4]

Demiurge at a gathering of the Floor Guardians to address Cocytus's failure in the first battle of the Lizardmen War, informed Ainz of his and the Head Librarian success of finding a source for parchment to craft magic scrolls. In his report he did not reveal what type of beast the skins originated from, though called them "Abelion Sheep" causing Ainz to mistake it as another name for Chimeras.[5]

The Men in the Kingdom Arc[]

It was reported that by the second month of Nazarick's transfer to the New World, that mass production of low rank scrolls would soon be possible. [6] During Sebas Tian interrogation of why he intentionally omitted Tuareninya Veyron from his report, the butler was suspected of being a traitor. However his loyalty was proven, though the matter of the issue turned to what to do with the human he picked up from the street: Tuare. Demiurge made a suggestion to Ainz that she could 'help' in his breeding pens for his "Chimeras". While Ainz was ignorant of the horrible truth of the ranch, Sebas Tian was not so blind and politely proposed another option of having Tuare serve Nazarick as a maid.[7]

The Two Leaders Arc[]

Pulcinella reported that Demiurge was already at work on a new type of experiment which involved seeing whether humans and demi-humans could breed. At this stage of his operation, Demiurge had begun to take the children of his captives and force other parents to feast on them. Forced between starvation or death, Demiurge and Pulcinella were able to receive interesting outcomes.[8]

Layout[]

Not much is said of the physical description of the ranch, though when it first was referenced in the light novel series, Demiurge's main office was a tent which contained various fixtures he hand crafted himself out of his victims.

In the Web Novel, the ranch was said to be in the encampment of the Crooked Tusk. Demiurge pitched up a tent where the Crooked Tusk tribe stayed. Unlike there tents which were small and dilapidated, Demiurge's tent was supported by a pillar that was ten meters.[9]

Trivia[]
