Davernoch (デイバーノック) was a member of Six Arms, the security department of the criminal organization Eight Fingers.
Appearance[]
Due to his status as an undead, he hid his appearance behind a red robe that covered his body.
Personality[]
Davernoch was a natural-born undead lich and like many other undead, he was filled with hatred and hostility towards the living. Since Davernoch was among the few undead that still retained some intelligence, he was able to suppress his hatred and maintain relationships with the living in order to improve his skills in using magic.
Despite not having great power as an undead, Davernoch was apparently arrogant enough to proclaim himself as the "Undead King" which means he views himself too highly in spite of still learning magic.
Background[]
Ever since Daveroch naturally spawned, his sole intent was to master magic the undead couldn't use when he first spawned. But at the same time, he wanted to attain different skills beyond magic as well.
To support his studies, he sought wealth by killing travelers on the road and stealing their valuables. Davernoch's actions caught the attention of the local adventurers in which he was chased away, forcing him to disguise himself as a human and join a group of mercenaries. Eventually, his identity as an undead was discovered due to his unnatural affinity for magic and he was forced to flee yet again.
Eventually, Zero discovered Davernoch and made an offer for him to become his subordinate, in exchange for continued magical lessons and money. After many setbacks, the elder lich accepted and thus joined Eight Fingers as part of the security department group called Six Arms.
Chronology[]
The Men in the Kingdom Arc[]
- Main article: The Men in the Kingdom I and The Men in the Kingdom II Arc
After Succulent was captured by the Re-Estize authorities, Davernoch accompanies the remaining members of Six Arms to the brothel where the incident of his comrade's arrest occurred. He reports to Zero that though the slaves there had been seized, the list of clients had not been found. Davernoch along with the rest of Six Arms concede to Zero's order to find the perpetrator and eliminate him, lest their reputation as Eight Finger's elite security force becomes slandered.[1]
He later confronts Sebas Tian along with the other members of Six Arms when they kidnapped Tuare. When they announced their titles, Davernoch proclaimed himself the "Undead King". Sebas took it as an insult against his master Ainz Ooal Gown (who also ran by the "Undead King" title) and completely pulverized him with a single punch for his arrogance. [2]

Mass for the Dead Arc[]
- Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc
After Eight Fingers collapse, Davernoch found himself without a job and switched his talents as a worker. At a bar with Six Arms, they were approached by Hilma who invited them to work at E-Rantel using her new position at the Pharmacist's Guild. Zero not wanting to be indebt to her refused and continued resume his criminal ways. Uninterested in starting his new career as just a worker, Zero intended to build a new organization with his comrades in Six Arms. Davernoch became the head of the slave trade in Zero's nascent criminal empire. Using his new position he used the crisis of the Cracks to his advantage by preying on refugees traveling by the Katze Plains. During a meeting with his fellow executives, Davernoch required help from Edström as he lacked storage space to store his captured slaves. The criminal empire started slow but was gaining momentum however he and his comrades lost their noble backers as the Kingdom was cracking down on all illegal activities as part of their concessions to the new Tripartite Alliance. Though this set Six Arms back, it opened a new opportunity to head to E-Rantel as it was becoming the new center of the world.[3] Later in order to destabilize the Tripartite Alliance, Zero made a deal with Zurrernorn to complete their Death Spiral ritual. The criminal kept his comrades in Six Arms out of the loop of the plan but they followed his direction and worked with him to guard the site of the ritual thinking it was just a normal job. The workers came into conflict with Blue Roses and the protagonist and his allies. Davernoch was killed by Soi as she found his title as "Undead King" to be undeserving.[4]
Months later Davernoch would be found to be very much alive working under Zurrernorn in kidnapping bride candidates entering the territory of Re-Blumrushur. He was joined by his fellow comrade Edström who left the Empire's service. Evileye and Narberal Gamma who had infiltrated their base fought against the two. Narberal in her case had the undead by the ropes and begging for his life. The undead confessed to the plot by his employers and revealed the means of his survival. Apparently when he was supposedly slain by Soi at the E-Rantel Cemetery, Davernoch survived thanks to the high levels of Negative Energy within the cemetery. While his head was decapitated, the surviving members of Zurrernorn mistakenly collected it as one of their comrades, taking it with them and reattaching it to another corpse. The undead eventually recovered thanks to their help and once his treatment was done the cultists hired him. After his survival was fully disclosed to Narberal, she had no use for him. The undead begged to be spared asking what he did to warrant such a grudge. The undercover maid stated that his very existence was a sin, for he was supposed to be dead by Solution Epsilon's hand. Him being alive was a disgrace to her sister which she needed to correct. And secondly for his title as "Undead King" as there was another who was more deserving of the title than him. The maid the used [Lightning] to obliterate the undead's body.[5]
