Dark Elf Village (ダークエルフの村) is a tentative name of a dark elf settlement in the Great Sea of Trees.

Background[]

The village was located in the southern regions of the Great Forest of Evasha. More specifically it was located at the southeastern tip of the Elf Country.

From Crescent Lake  it laid to its south and would take more than a week to reach. The village of Aju, which was the closest settlement to the elven capital, was located north of it.

The village was the largest Dark Elf village its vicinity and contain only about 200 residents. However the number was not enough to institute full-time warriors in place.

At some point, a movement among the dark elves formed, possessing an ideology that age should not used as the absolute measure to lead the village. This caused the village to become divided into two camps. One supporting the traditional values of the elders and the other supporting those with superior talent to take the reigns of the future of the village. Since then the village has been involved in an internal dispute. Not only that the internal dispute of the village has spread to other villages of the dark elves who support the factions, causing the balance of dark elf society to be in peril.

The Half Elf God-kin Arc[]

Main article: The Half Elf God-kin I and The Half Elf God-kin II Arc

The village was attacked by the Ankyloursus Lord, which strangely only focused its hostility towards the elf trees of the village, threatening the elves to flee. When it began moving towards the center of the village, Ranger Blueberry Egnia attempted to climb its back for a weak spot, but was tossed aside. The ankyloursus was stopped when Aura Bella Fiora appeared, mango g to grievously wound it enough to force it to flee.

For her actions, Aura was hailed as a hero by the dark elves. She was allowed to stay as their guest along with their brother and ‘uncle’ who would soon a arrive at the village in three days. Aura became a center of interest to the dark elves in the village, especially the Council of Elders who were surprised to learn the youngling had knowledge of a concept called the Trail of the Fey and perhaps could help the village regain its Fey Blessing.

While at the village, Aura assisted its rangers in hunting game for them, outmatching their skills despite her young age. Later it was observed that Aura’s presence was being used as a political tool by a faction of the dark elves who not only admired her strength, but used her ability to support their argument that age should not be a basis for leadership, putting them in direct opposition with the current elders.

This disappointed Ainz Ooal Gown, who was silently watching the elves’ interactions with the Floor Guardian via magic, as he intended Aura to make friends with elves her own age, not convert the villagers into her followers.[1]

Aura's uncle and brother Ain Bell Fior and Mare Bello Fiore eventually arrived and brought gifts of runecraft items to curry favor from the dark elves. Ain approached the elders and delivered a flowery introduction on what he believed would translate well in dark elf vernacular. However the words and meaning confused the members of the Council of Elders as well as the Youth Faction. For the elders, not willing to admit that perhaps they were less cultured than the dark elves of the city, feigned acceptance of the introductions and meaning. To avoid embarrassing themselves they refrained from meeting with Ain to preserve their image. Likewise members of the Youth Faction having been impressed by the etiquette also avoided approaching Ain as they themselves were unsure of how to conduct themselves properly, and even considered a truce with the elders so as to preserve the reputation of the village.

Meanwhile Ain encouraged the children of the village to interact with Aura and Mare through bribing them with candy. And he introduced himself to the gruff Chief Pharmacist Mango Gilena to seek his knowledge on the herbs and potions of the dark elves. Though the other dark elf was hesitant to reveal anything to him, he was bought off by the purple potion and Ain's knowledge on herbs. Gilena trained Ain as his temporary apprentice, during which Ain helped defend the village from an attack by a Giant Hypnotism Python which earned him the respect of the warriors and also the endearment of the women in the village.

Later when the village received news messenger that a human nation was attacking the elven capital, the elves were divided on whether to come to the aid of their cousins or ignore the summons of aid. They looked to Ain to provide them with an answer, who stated that the best course of action would be to send a small force from each village to provide reinforcement to fulfill their obligations to the capital whilst the ones that remained behind evacuated.

Afterwards Ain and his niece and nephew were making preparations to leave the village, when Gilena warned them that they should hurry as some of the women in the village had the idea to follow him forcing the family to make a speedy exit.[2]

Layout & Features[]

The village was no different from any other elf village. Though like most dark elf villages it used an animal repellent that produced avoidance effect by using scents. The repellents came from flowers which were planted at the bases of the elf trees.

In the area around this village, there were a number of species of monsters whose danger level was high, but the Ankyloursus was the one at the top of that list.

  • Plaza: A place located in the center of the village. It was above the ground, and resembled a wooden tray hanging in the air held in place by the bridges that extended from the trees.
  • Chief Pharmacist Residence: The most imposing and thickest elf tree in the village. It was distanced away from the other elf trees due to the toxic substances that the Chief Pharmacist cooked up.

Trivia[]

  • During Mission: Red Ogre Cried, to make sure the Ankyloursus Lord’s attack on the village would not be interfered with, Aura killed most of the strong monsters and even the local Ankyloursi in the area around the village.
