Crescent Lake is a lake that lies in the Great Forest of Evasha and is in the vicinity of the royal capital of the Elf Country.
Background[]
Crescent Lake was identified as the Elven Capital by the Slane Theocracy. In that regard, it is safe to assume that this lake is under the Elf Country's rule.
Chronology[]
The Magic Caster of Destroy Arc[]
- Main article: The Magic Caster of Destroy Arc
The lake was briefly mentioned during the conversation between the Prime Minister of the Dragon Kingdom and queen Draudillon about the Beastmen invasion. The queen mentioned that if the Theocracy doesn´t give them help then they should seek the Empire's help, since if their kingdom falls the Baharuth Empire will be the next target of the Beastmen. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister remember Draudillon that the Katze Plains prevent an immediate attack against the Empire, and if the Beastmen took the detour around the lake they would attack the Theocracy first.[1]
The Ruler of Conspiracy Arc[]

During a conference held between Cardinals, it can be noted that the Slane Theocracy had already built a forward base at Crescent Lake. According to them, the Capital of Crescent Lake should have been destroyed in a few years, but that plan was slowly going off-script.[2]
The Half Elf God-kin Arc[]
- Main article: The Half Elf God-kin I and The Half Elf God-kin II Arc
The Elf King having killed the members of the Holocaust Scripture and retrieving his father's bow then retired back to the palace of the royal capital. There in his chambers he offhandedly commented to his concubine, Myugi, on her daughter's death and told her to prepare for bed to make another child. The news caused her such grief that the mother instead chose to leap from the balcony to her death.
Later Ainz Ooal Gown came to the Elf Country, decided to investigate the capital. He infiltrated the city using magic. There he was disappointed on what he saw as found it to be repulsive as it has an air of oppression due to the dense population, reminding him of his original world. After spending three days collecting miscellaneous information from the city, Ainz finally interrogated an elf that pointed him to the direction of the dark elf settlements.[3]
A week after Ainz and his subordinates were staying in a dark elf village a messenger from the elven capital arrived ordering the dark elves to send aid as the human army had reached the vicinity of the capital. After much discussion amongst the elders and villagers, the dark elves agreed to spread word to send a small force per village whilst the ones who did not participate in the defense of the capital to prepare to evacuate.[4]
A week later, the army of the Theocracy launched a full scale assault on the elven city. Under the cover of the attack, Ainz and his two dark elf charges slipped into the Elven Royal Castle in order to commit a kill steal and rob the elven treasury. There they encountered Decem Hougan which led to a confrontation between him and Ainz due to his disgusting behavior. The Elf King was defeated, and rather than admit his loss fled as a coward. In his flight he was approached by his own daughter, Antilene Heran Fouche, who killed him to avenge her and her mother. Mare who was sent to capture the Elf King stumbled across the assassination, which led to Antilene attacking him, thinking ‘she’ was a kin of her father. The conflict resulted in her defeat and subsequent capture by the Sorcerer Kingdom. Presumably the city was conquered by the remaining forces of the Theocracy whilst the Sorcerer King and his agents quietly left with their loot and prisoner.[5]
Layout[]
Based on its name, it is assumed the formation of the lake is in the shape of a crescent. The royal capital was the only settlement by the elves that was constructed without the forest’s cover. And built on the shores of the lake, on a flat land with broken forests. The reason as to why the capital was built on the flats, was because there was a giant monster in the lake that captured and ate any large monsters that came nearby.
Features[]
Royal Capital: The capital has many houses created from elf trees. The layout was not so different from a regular elf village, save for the size and population density. The city itself is made of thousands of interconnected trees, not so dissimilar to a forest. Trees all line up endlessly and all look the same, lacking signboards and landmarks. Due to the difficulty in navigation, it is a city that is unkind to travelers as the layout of the city lack common sense and order compared to human cities.
- Elven Royal Castle: The dwelling of the elven royal family.
Meadow: An open area with short grass that was made deliberately by the elves to act as a defensive point.
Known Inhabitants[]
The elves built their capital city build on the shore of the great lake so most of the population lives in and around it. Due to the area around the lake being a flat plain and said monster present within it, both of these factors is what allowed the population of the city to thrive.
- Decem Hougan
- Rugi (Deceased)
- Myugi (Deceased)
Trivia[]
- Crescent Lake may have already been invaded by the Slane Theocracy a while back as they were plotting to destroy the Elf Country's capital, but their plan was beginning to change during the process.
- The elven capital is the only major city in the Elf Country.
- It seems to be the only lake present in the entire area within the Great Sea of Trees.
