Charon's Guidance (カロンの導き) is a weapon of the Six Great Gods that hailed from YGGDRASIL.
Description[]
A God-kin by the name of Antilene Heran Fouche is an owner and wielder of this weapon.[1] Prior to her possession, this item belonged to the God of Death, Surshana. However, the weapon and its wielder were claimed by the Sorcerer Kingdom in a skirmish in the Elf Country.[2]
Appearance[]
A war scythe that bears a great resemblance to a cross-shaped spear.
Abilities[]
Though it is unknown what type of item it is, according to its current/former wielder Antilene, the scythe could easily part walls and floors in its path. Additionally it was made from a metal that had yet to be discovered by the Theocracy. It was extremely tough and possessed great offensive strength fit for a god.
The item enabled the wielder to cast various spells, allowing them to choose among them and use them five times every four hours such as:
- Death: An 8th tier spell that can be used on a single target each time. Though the scythe can only do so two times every eight hours.
- Undead Flame: Surrounds the target in an aura of mystical flames made of negative energy which will engulf the enemy when they make contact.
- Undead Avoidance: A spell which protect the wielder from undead without intelligence.
- Create Undead: A 3rd tier spell that allows the user to spawn a low-tier undead minion.
- Disease: A spell that could cause illness.
- Sleep to the Undead: A spell which triggers a chance to destroy the undead without turn resistance in a single hit.
- Evil Eye: A spell that lets you select an ability from the different gaze effects.
- Death Mask: A spell which can defend a caster from gaze attacks while strengthening the fear effect caused by the user.
- Hand of Glory: A spell that can be used in two ways.
It could also summon a special undead known as Spartiate. A total of 30 could be summoned every 24 hours, with a limit of 5 being active simultaneously.
Trivia[]
- Charon is the name of the Greek ferryman that ferries the souls of the dead to the underworld.
- For all its power, the item appears to be unable to cut into Mare Bello Fiore's Dress Armor.
- Antilene by using her Talent of psychometry is able to use [The Goal Of All Life is Death], a skill previously belonging to the scythe’s original wielder, Surshana, even though she lacks the Eclipse class.
- The Evil Eye spell might be inspired from certain cultural beliefs towards a supernatural curse brought about by a malevolent glare, usually inspired by envy.
- According to European superstition, a Hand of Glory is the pickled hand of a hanged man, made to hold a candle of the same persons fat. Superstition holds that laying eyes on this combination would paralyze you. It is also purported to be able to unlock doors.
- Hand of Glory might else be a a reference towards an item from Dungeon and Dragons 3.5 Edition, a skeletal hand that chould be worn as a necklace and used to see through invinsibildius around one self. It chould also wear an additional ring for the user bypassing DnD's, 2 ring limit.
