Charming Lie Inside The Invention (潤いは偽りの発明の中に) is a game event in Mass for the Dead that was released on November 1, 2022 to November 15, 2022. The event was re-released on November 7, 2023 to November 16, 2023.[1]

Background[]

"In order to disguise the origins of the Sorcerer Kingdom and obtain a new means of earning foreign currency," the members of Nazarick created new inventions "Made in Sorcerer Kingdom" based on magic items for daily use ordered from the Baharuth Empire. Suggesting new products. As expected the results------[2]

Incident[]

The duo, Shizuni and Regi, are seen hustling about with serious expressions on their faces, looking at every vendor stand at the Central Market of Arwintar. Malmvist who is passing by is surprised by this behavior. Even though he knows that if he approaches them now and may come off as spying on them, he decides to risk it as he wants to know why the women are examining daily magic items.

Regi seeing her teammate from New Six Arms explains that she and Shizuni are browsing to see if there is a difference in price between the items such as fans and refrigerators. According to Shizuni all products look to be the same quality with slight variations along with different prices so they are trying to compare. Malmvist thinks that the two want to purchase some items for their team's hideout for convenience, though Regi states that is not the reason for their search. She and Shizuni have an idea to buy the items and resell them, since they are cheap and in high quality within the Baharuth Empire. In E-Rantel, magic items for daily use were rare so they believe that they can sell them there at a profit. This comes to as a surprise to Malmivst that they want to do this approach, as given the time and effort involved in transporting the goods to E-Rantel will make the endeavor cost more than gain. Not to mention buying it would cost them more. In fact he recommended that it would be better for them to steal the goods. The women though point out that they plan to cut costs by using Iguva's Ghost Ship to transport the items. Malmvist soon becomes receptive to the idea, seeing it now as lucrative as with the undead's ship, transporting the magic items would enable them to be relatively safe in the Katze Plains.

Before they plan to commit, Shizuni first wants to take samples of the magic items for trial testing. Since they are on a budget they want to be very selective. The fencer of Six Arms agrees and decides to join in the scheme since worker jobs are low priority. The women then ask Malmvist which items he would recommend since he has an eye for such things on quality. For starters Malmvist advises that they go to the other street of the market since that location usually has better quality goods compared to the high-priced Central Market. Regi and Shizuni excited by the assistance soon run towards the direct shop, leaving Malmvist to hurry to catch up to them.

Later in Momonga's office, the Overlord is looking satisfactorily at the various magic items acquired by Lupusregina and CZ from their shopping in the imperial capital. Their aid is praised by Momonga as they did the task well despite it being so sudden. The two Pleiades as abashed by the thanks, musing it was due to their human accomplice's aid. After thanking them Momonga and the present Floor Guardians turn to the items before them.

Demiurge and Albedo confident of their master's knowledge of human psychology and "Horenso" beg him to direct them on their new mission. Momonga then addresses the members in the room the plan to create magic items that are unique to the Sorcerer Kingdom and distribute them as trade goods in order to shroud the origins of their nation as well as acquire foreign currency. If they succeed then it will allow their active agents operating outside as citizens of the Sorcerer Kingdom to be under a safer umbrella with credibility. Thus begins the planning of the "Daily Necessities Magic Item Improvement Plan".

The first thing on the preliminary stage by Momonga is to produce prototype and wants his subordinate to come up with new ideas. Demiurge understanding his master's goal advises that they should be aware that manufacturing magic items in the current world is slightly different from theirs and asks how they should handle it. Momonga though has an answer to that which he turns to the protagonist to explain that part. The protagonist reports that they have collaborators who are experienced in the manufacture of magic items, Fluder Paradyne, the imperial court magician of the Baharuth Empire and Tsuibayaya, a dwarf obsessed with the Boastful Sage and a skilled craftsman. Momonga asks the homunculus on who he will choose for this plan? He does and answers that it cannot be Fluder since the wizard is already engrossed in his Chaos Beast research at the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute and his quest for the "abyss of magic". Thus having Fluder work on developing magic items for daily use would be seen as a waste of his skills by the old man. The dwarf Tsuibayaya on the other hand has a penchant for this type of work and can be incentivized through a loan of the Treasury's swimsuit.

Albedo raises the question on how they will create unique brand of items from the Sorcerer Kingdom? Momonga believes that they should start the phase by soliciting out opinions of the current magic items that were brought to Nazarick. The items will be placed around Nazarick to allow others to try and use them to see and test their functions. Before they are turn over to the whole of Nazarick, Momonga wishes to try the products brought by the Pleiades out first. His offer is rejected by Albedo as she is unwilling to have Momonga risk his life for possibly defective products and states that the rest of Nazarick will test them out first to confirm their safety. The action is a bit over the top to Momonga as he doesn't want the to act like poison testers and wonder maybe he should assign POP summons to the task instead.

Still moving on he allows Albedo's procedure before ordering her to install the items around the dungeon for the trial testing. He iterates that the aim is to develop proposals that can improve the current daily household magic items. However he adds that the plan should not take precedence over their current work in Chaos Beast extermination. That in mind he dismisses everyone to begin the plan. For Lupusregina and CZ, since they have returned home and must be tired from their undercover roles, gives them permission to rest. The two leaving his office, marvel at their achievement in pleasing Momonga and as they head to the Pleiades room wonder who is currently there.[3]

Sometime after the end of the meeting, Momonga is seen in his private bath proceeding with his part of the "Daily Necessities Magic Item Improvement Plan". With him are some magic items that have already been tested to be safe. One is the Faucet of Spring Water which Momonga uses in his bath and sees that it produces water. The Overlord recognizes the item's usefulness as it can be installed anywhere and perhaps is even more convenient than using tap water. In terms of how to improve the product, Momonga thinks that a temperature control function could be added, even though he lacks the knowledge to do so. But is convinced that the item can be modified to have outlets for hot or cold water and maybe be attached with a hose and converted into a showerhead for use. Though he rethinks the last item, as in the current world, most people do not have the luxury of soaking in a bathtub.

Even so the idea sounds like it could have originated from the Boastful Sage so he decides to the save the idea as one with potential. Momonga wonders about the other items, the fan and refrigerator. Originally they were bought because they were deemed curiosities, Momonga still is interested on what the others are making of them. Alas he would not know the value of such items, since he can no longer feel cool air on his body or even eat for that matter. Nevertheless he is hopeful that the others will have some good ideas on how to improve the two household items. The undead then calls for Miyoshi to attend him and begin cleaning his skeletal body, enjoying the cleanse blissfully.

On the 9th Floor, in one of the two rooms of the Pleiades, Lupusregina and CZ perform a standard "Ho-Ren-So" greeting to Yuri Alpha who allows them entry. Yuri is eager to see them as she heard how they contributed to the upcoming plan to develop new trade items for the Sorcerer Kingdom to acquire more outside currency and reinforce the credibility of the nation. Her interest is especially on the items brought back by her two sisters as she wants to help in improving them. After the two field agents inform Yuri that the items are being tested by Momonga and have been distributed around Nazarick, Lupusregina asks Yuri if anything has changed in Nazarick since they were away. On that Yuri informs her sisters that the Casino Resort Nazarick which was piloted some time ago, is now open to the general maids as well as an expansion of spa facilities on the 9th Floor at Momonga's prompting. Upon learning that the baths are free to use, Lupusregina feel delighted to spend her time off there. CZ is offered to accompany her there, by Yuri asks CZ to first help her clean the room, while she drafts a casino guidebook to educate the general maids in the rules of the casino and how to properly use it.[4]

Elsewhere at the Bar on the 9th Floor, which has been restored since the Incident, with Sous-chef manning it, serving his lone patron, Shalltear when Demiurge enters the facility, lugging a large bulky item. He reveals to his collages that it is a Refrigerator and one of the daily household items brought back for testing. Sous-chef looks at it and is amused as there is a similar function in his bar. Demiurge briefly explains to the myconid of its purpose in increasing the credibility of the Sorcerer Kingdom, though relents to Shalltear query on what kind of strategy that they will adopt this time. Demiurge explains that the aim is to make improved items of the current daily household items humans use. Using the feedback gathered from trying out the various sample items, the Sorcerer Kingdom will develop a brand of products that will entice humans in their superior quality and features. In order to get effective feedback, the 7th Floor Guardian came to the bar as the refrigerator is similar to an item that the Sous-chef works with.

Sous-chef seeing the refrigerator states that he can tell it is a box that uses cool air to prevent food from spoiling. While the magic [Preserve] may be more reliable, this item appears to be more easier to use as one doesn't need to cast magic. On the downside, the thing is took big and takes up too much space. In his bar the item is already taking up more space than necessary. Not only that the temperature is not very strong. Demiurge takes note that the item's improvement suggestions are size reduction and improvement of the cooling power. Another suggestion is from Shalltear who feels that maybe they can make an item that heats food rather than just cool it. The demon recalls that there is already such an item in production that has a heating function. the Warm Bottle, and if they add such a function to the refrigerator it will probably be difficult to manufacture. Shaltear is disappointed in herself in that she did not know this detail, but Demiurge tells her that her opinion that she gave was not wrong, in fact she was following the tenets of "Ho-Ren-So" as instructed by Momonga to state her mind and allowed her to be corrected by Demiurge. Anyway Demiurge is still unsure about the improvements that will be added as they will be done by a dwarf collaborator so it's hard to say if the suggestions they have will be feasible. Returning to the attention of the refrigerator, Shalltear comments that the item could change the features by incorporating the door to open from the right of left side which Demiurge believes is possible if they add more hinges.

When it is Sous-chef's turn to add some feedback, the cook is conflicted as he feels shameful in comparing this item with those in the facilities of Nazarick, and finding ways to improve it, as it seems disrespectful to his creator. This underlines a problem that many denizens of Nazarick might have to face, in that it will be hard to invent new inventions because they don't feel the need or demand to. Demiurge realizes that this could be an issue which he plans to bring up to with everyone in Nazarick. The cook is ashamed he can't be more helpful on how to improve and make a new product using the refrigerator as a base. But he is curious to see what happens to the taste of his drinks when they are chilled by it and hopes to use it as a foundation. Demiurge is thankful for any assistance and assures Sous-chef that none of their actions with the magic items will offend their creators. Shalltear agrees as if there creators were present they wouldn't be insulted but maybe surprised using her experience with her creator Peroroncino tsundere attitude. Appreciative towards Shalltear's support on his view, Demiurge then asks why Shalltear is at the bar, worried she is drinking again due to depression of being mind-controlled. His worry is unnecessary as Shalltear states that she came to the bar after hearing it was restored and decided to rest at the establishment after she defeated some Chaos Beasts. Taking a page out of her book, Demiurge decides to join her for a drink and orders a cocktail. Sosu-chef happy to have another customer offers the Nazarick to the Floor Guardian.

At Spa Resort Nazarick, Lupusregina is there to soak, but is bored as she is alone with CZ busy at the room. Her lonely soak is interrupted when Albedo appears in the bath. Lupusregina formally greets the Overseer Guardian, but the demon asks her to drop the honorifics as they are in a relaxing location where ranks do not matter. Lupusregina notices that Albedo brought a fan, one of the daily household items that were brought to Nazarick, with her. Albedo explains that she brought it to the baths thinking it would be nice to use the item to cool their bodies after a hot soak so that they can be refreshed and climb and dip into the other nine baths of the spa.

While the idea is intriguing to Lupusregina, Albedo senses that there is some hesitation with the former. The Pleiades maids confesses it may be presumptuous, and a little unnecessary. As somehow, she feels a sense of guilt or even disgust, when a foreign object is placed in Nazarick, which was created by the Supreme Beings. Albedo understands those feelings as she had similar concerns, but Momonga had given them orders to put some household items in Nazarick, so he must have a plan.

Lupusregina tries out the fan, and admittingly finds the air blowing on her enjoyable. This brings to mind to Albedo that maybe this is why Momonga brought the items into Nazarick, to experience new sensations and suggest improvements to help them grow. In regards to their disgust towards items right now, it can be wiped erased if they design something suitable to match the dignity of being a product of the Sorcerer Kingdom.

Albedo believes it would be good to think of improvement proposals for the fan. Lupusregina proposes that they should create a wind that matches the scenery. Like replicating the feeling of wind, dust, and climate change outside, so one can feel the breeze like in a jungle. This is a good idea to Albedo, as then they would be able to feel the wonderful scenery created by the Supreme Beings more closely and correctly. Plus having experienced the natural air of the Tob Forest when she visited the lizardmen, which was different from the air from the 6th Floor, she could tell that there was a distinct difference and heard that it has the effect of healing fatigue that cannot be seen naturally.

It would be a good item to improve for the general maids, as due to the Crack on the 6th Floor, they cannot visit it without being supervised. The fan idea, could be a substitute, to help the maids experience nature in a simulated way. Going further with the idea, Lupusregina thinks that maybe they should make a scented breeze with the fan. The two women the continue to discuss their idea while they soak in the hot springs, taking the fan with them on their trips to the many baths.

While Lupusregina's was conversing with the Overseer Guardian, soaking in the hot springs, across Nazarick, daily household-based magic items are installed in facilities such as casino and canteen. Everyone was free to talk about their ideas for functional improvements and ways to make it suitable as a magic country product. Everyone's opinions were eventually compiled into a document by Albedo. Momonga, faced with such large volumes of feedback was left surprised with a new flickering idea in his eyes.[5]

A meeting at the Round Table Room is assembled to have Momonga share the current situation with the protagonist, who has returned from E-Rantel. Momonga announces to all present on the summary of the proposals for improving magic items for daily use, and the amount of material far exceeds his imagination., stating he is happy to sense their enthusiasm.

In addition to each Guardian's improvement proposal, there seems to be opinions from Area Guardians and general maids. He asks the protagonist that with the material they should be able to develop prototypes with their dwarven collaborator. Albedo interjects as she is interested to know which proposal caught his eye, claiming that they could use it as a future reference. Momonga decides to share them to sate their curiosity, but reminds them that there is not superior or inferior ideas. However he hesitates as he is afraid that he'll say something off the mark, and with everyone's enthusiasm is more than he expected, but plans to to leave everything to the protagonist in the end.

First of all, there were many opinions based on the performance aspect of miniaturization and weight reduction. The proposal is put aside for now, because it depends on technical ability, but on top of that, Momonga felt that it would be especially useful if there were concrete proposals on the structural side. There is also a suggestions to remodel the refrigerator door to make it a device that blows out cold air, which Momonga notes to have originated from Cocytus. Cocytus explains that it was his idea, and admits that it sounds a bit silly. Still Momonga thinks they should explore the idea. The next proposal is adding a mechanism that allows the refrigerator door to be opened from either the left or right side. The idea proposed by Shalltear is deemed highly feasible. Along with making a box that heats up, they should take into consideration of what they want to heat up. Momonga then engages Aura for her opinion, which the dark elf answers that maybe they should include a window to allow one to see the items being cooked. The idea is well received by Shalltear and Momonga has hopes for the expected prototype.

Momonga has his own idea of the shower device, but decides to give priority to everyone's suggestions. His reasoning is that if everyone gets a successful experience, it will be an opportunity for growth. Having said a sample of the item, Momonga passes the document of proposals to the protagonist and Slimeko to convey to the dwarf they are in contact with. Before the duo carry out their orders, the protagonist has some concerns. In that if the products they distribute are branded as being made originally in the Sorcerer Kingdom, it could invoke suspicion from Tsuibayaya, since he will handle the trial production for the prototypes. Momonga realizes that he made a blunder as he did not consider this. Albedo muses that this could be a serious issue, as the whole purpose of the inventions is to camouflage the history of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Although Albedo and Demiurge are confident that Tsuibayaya will not have that kind of suspicion, as they 'know' Momonga has already factored it in.

To Momonga's angst, the Floor Guardians are ever confident that he is a genius who is confident to allow the protagonist to handle the situation with the dwarf. To them this is Momonga's plan to have the protagonist test his thinking ability, though in reality it is not. Cocytus deduces that their master wants them to follow the concept of "Tatemae". While some like Aura and Mare are unfamiliar with the term, Momonga vaguely recognizes it, but to avoid being found out of his incompetence, then directs Demiurge to give them a 'hint'.

Demiurge complies explaining that the reason why Momonga selected the protagonist to convey their request to Tsuibayaya was that he knows of the protagonist' traits, in being a researcher at Ashurbanipal. Aura soon catches on and realizes that Momonga intends for the protagonist to invent a story to the dwarf that he wishes to reproduce the inventions written in the ancient literature of the Sorcerer Kingdom that was discovered. That way they can develop the prototypes future commercialization without suspicion.

This comes to a surprise to the protagonist, but logically makes sense as it is aligned with his expected role. Demiurge then reiterates that by following “Ho-Ren-So” one can know the right answer. But considering the protagonist's lack of self-confidence, Demiurge thinks that the homunculus was being tested by Momonga to see if he could do it. Momonga states that is indeed the case, which only heightens his cognition by the Floor Guardians. He states to the protagonist that he has already fulfilled the role required of hima. On top of that, it's Momonga's attempt to let people know their value of further growth and "ho-ren-so" thinking.

In other words, the experience itself is the purpose. There is no need to worry about the results. If one has regrets, Momonga states that he want them to take advantage of them positively for future growth. His words are met with firm resolve by his subordinates. Demiurge is particularly moved and vows to work harder and harder to get closer to Momonga's level. Momonga though feels that he and Albedo's thinking ability are already comparable to his, though in truth he admit he is only a moderate thinker compared to the Floor Guardians duo.

Embolden, Shalltears to offers to add some more supplementary backstory for the "discovered documents" for the proposed inventions that the protagonist will give to the dwarf craftman. Aura accurately guesses that the vampire wants to add something like the adventurer Shall's origins to the product. Soon enough the rest of the Floor Guardian begin pitching in ideas for a cover story and collectively work to develop the plan.

Later at the the city of E-Rantel where the curtain of night fell. Tsuibayaya was secretly invited to a room at an inn by the protagonist, who was carrying a collection of Nazarick's wisdom, with a little excitement. For Tsuibayaya, who is well versed in the lore of the "Boastful Sage," this secret meeting had too much to offer. Tsuibayaya upon meeting the protagonist asks what he has to offer to secure his cooperation. On that the protagonist offers the an actual "swimsuit" that was stored in Magic Kingdom. The item is taken out to allow the dwarf to inspect, who after scrutinizing the item marvels at the quality.

Slimeko then asks that the dwarf keep that matter between them confidential, on which the dwarf understands. He guesses that it must be a dangerous request since they summoned the blacksmith who is in charge of the logistics of the Re-Estize Kingdom at such a late hour. The protagonist assures him that the request is not at all dangerous, only that he wants Tsuibayaya to examine an old document that was found in his homeland.

The protagonist provides the dwarf a copy of it and request that he reproduce the items described in the contents. Tsuibayaya flipping through the pages sees the reason for the secrecy. He asks if this material from the Sorcerer Kingdom is related to the Boastful Sage, which the protagonist states that he believes so, as it contains manufacturing methods and improvement plans for magic items for daily use, and their value has the potential to be immeasurable. He adds that there are many things that are similar in shape and idea to products that are already in circulation in the Empire, etc., but if they are realized, their functions will be better than the products in circulation. Hence Slimeko explains why they recruited Tsuibayaya, hoping he could actually make items that were in line with the literature due to his interest in the Boastful Sage.

Tsuibayaya is flattered by the praise. While examining the documents he notices that they contain drawings and descriptions which the protagonist elaborates that at the time of copying, the document was translated into the language of the Kingdom. He asks if that will be a problem, but the dwarf assures the adventurer that since he has been living in E-Rantel for a while, for the sake of my research, his has a grasp of the language. However, even if he were to take into consideration the fact that his language skills are not very good, there are still many expressions that are difficult to understand in the document. He points out on some content of the text, such as a fan with a scent that was supposedly devised to confuse hostile demi-humans and was later used to spread incense at festivals.

The dwarf reviews the description of modifications of the mechanism of the refrigerator, functions to the loudspeaker, etc. None of the items listed are structurally impossible, but has concerns on the dimensions of the items since the document did not include them. The protagonist apologizes as that information was not included in the material, but asks the dwarf if he could make them as small as possible. Tsuibayaya confesses that he might have to try and make many prototypes, but at least some of them are simple. he raises a question on why the Sorcerer Kingdom's own craftsmen are not helping to develop these items.

The protagonist prepares an answer, stating that though there are many excellent magic casters in his homeland, there is little need to rely on such magic items for everyday use, and production techniques other than weapons are obsolete. In other words, is it due to their craftsman's commitment and difficulty in diverting the technology they have to prototypes like this because they're all about weapons. To Tsuibayaya this makes sense as he understands obsession, given his own hobbies.

The protagonist adds that while his nation as demonstrated its excellence in diplomatic efforts, it is difficult for them to reveal this shortcoming hence why they have asked Tsuibayaya to keep quiet on this matter which Tsuibayaya agrees. Tsuibayaya is eager to look through the documents as there are many interesting things written, and plans to develop them in his workshop in the city. Once they are completed the dwarf will bring them to the inn for inspection. The protagonist thanks the dwarf for his cooperation, adding that he will speak to his superiors in allowing Tsuibayaya to be given another swimsuit sample. Tsuibayaya now motivated to finish his task, tells the protagonist to prepare to bring a swimsuit in two days.[6]

In the casino on the 9th Floor, the general maids, Guardians, and Pleiades were enjoying a moment of relaxation during their break. At a roulette table manned by a elder lich, Cixous!shouts in glee at her win with Foire. Her bet being 10 chips, causes winning to double to 20 chips.

They are joined by Lupusregina and CZ curious to see the undead operating the gambling table. The summon explains that Solution and Narberal had instructed him in the ways of being a dealer. Not only that the Pleiades maid notices that there are magic items for daily use here too like the refrigerator.

The lich states that they were part of the plan for improvement proposals, but since the activity  been closed for the time being. These two items seem to be particularly popular with our customers, so the lich was able to obtain permission to keep them. The refrigerator being used to serve cold drinks to the patrons of the casino and the fan placed to let in a breeze. The two general maids find their presence to be appealing so much that they decided to prolong their stay at the establishment and continue playing games. Lupusregina wonders if that is alright, whih the lich confirms as profits for the casino grow by having customers staying longer—— since the return rate is gained by tips while customer enjoy themselves. However this casino is for the purpose of entertainment and consolation for everyone, so money is not the gain, but instead a policy of giving out prizes out prizes according to the number of chips collected is promoted.

CZ impressed and wonders if the chances of winning prizes at the tables increase. Due to everyone's positive reaction to the daily household items, CZ wonders if maybe they should install a few at the hideout in Six Arms. The idea is supported by Lupusregina as they could use the base as a test area for the improved versions and also serve as their alibis to the human comrades. Their human teammates brought to mind CZ knowing that Iguva can cover them pretty well, wonders how the rest of Six Arms are doing without them.

At the time when Lupusregina and the others were thinking about Six Arms in Nazarick, at the hideout of the New Six Arms in the Baharuth Empire, Zero, Peshurian, Malmvist and Iguva are sitting around a table. Noticing the lack of noise, normally produced by their female companions, Peshurian comments that its quiet. Malmvist doesn't seem to mind as they can now drink in peace. Zero still wonders when they will be back, which Iguva states that they told him to pick the up in about a week, as they were involved in a business negotiation.

Peshurian asks Zero is he is worried for them, which the leader of Six Arms answers that he thought they would be preparing for a big job soon but seems to not be the case now. Since their situation is stable there is not much to do. Peshurian asks if he expect something unexpected to happen in the future and Malmvist brings up if it concerns Zero's aim to become one of the Four Knights of the Empire.

Zero states that he is just concern of losing Regi and Shizuni as they are strong and doesn't want to risk losing such potential. Malmvist and Peshurian tells him not to worry as they crossed the line of death together many times to abandon him. Iguva adds that he will not forgo his business relationship with the humans as he now aims to use charm magic as since he is able to hide in the human city, he now has more opportunities to come into contact with magical knowledge.

Malmvist goes back to the topic that they were previously discussing, about reselling magic items, asking Zero if he thinks it will go well? Zero think it is a profitable venture as ever since the completion of the fourth wall in E-Rantel, daily magic items will no doubt be in high demand. Satisfied by those words, the rest of Six Arms decides to wait and see with as they enjoy each other's company. To see how it will turn out when the women get back, Peshurian and Malmvist make a bet on the outcome.

At night street of E-Rantel, in Tsuibayaya's workshop——the dwarf is almost done in creating the items described in the document given to him by the protagonist. Since he has one more day until the appointment, Tsyubayaya steels himself to resume. As he hammers on with his work at the forge, a surf-pants formerly belonging to Momonga hangs on the dwarf's mantle.[7]

A new meeting is convened at the Round Table Room, where Momonga welcomes them to completion of the "Daily Magic Item Improvement Plan" and the protagonist then unveils the work Tsuibayaya created from their proposals. Momonga is pleased with the protagonist for having fooled the dwarf on the origins of the literature thanks to the homunculus's cunning and collective story put together by the Guardians.

The protagonist offers his thanks to all of them. In addition, he would like to thank Momonga for kindly giving him permission to lend him a new "swimsuit" as Tsuibayaya is delighted with the item and vowed to cooperate and maintain confidentiality in the future. Likewise Momonga is interested in the new swimsuit designs that the dwarf will create. When homunculus adds that Momonga's swimsuit provided Tsuibayaya with inspiration, this attracts the attention of many Floor Guardians. This causes Demiurge to speak volumes of their master's charm etched in his equipment much to Momonga embarrassment who only lent out his equipment to the dwarf because he did not want to rent out the Treasury's collection.

Momonga then directs everyone to the items that they have been given by Tsuibayaya. He decides to hold a performance test and a competition to devise other uses from the performance aspect of each item. Since many of the items involve using water he will hold it Spa Resort Nazarick. Additionally he grants Albedo's request to invite the Pleiades to the event, as they were partly involved in the improvement proposals for these items. Momonga ushers them to move quickly as the "Sorcerer Kingdom Daily Household Magic Item Fair" is about to begin,

At Spa Resort Nazarick, the Floor Guardians and Pleiades assemble. Momonga present is thankful they were able to arrange for the event and accommodate the security for each floor in the absence of the Floor Guardians thanks to Demiurge's coordination with the Evil Lords and Cocytus's subordinates。

The Overlord eager to start the fair sees that everyone is so fired up that they came in their swimsuits without prior notice. He gets startled upon seeing Albedo and Lupusregina emerge clad in only a bath towel and tenugui. Albedo insists is more TPO-friendly as their attire is suited for the spa. Momonga regrets not wearing his own swimsuit, but it can't be helped as his was given to Tsuibayaya to study.

The fair is started by Momonga and directs the protagonist and Slimeko to act as facilitators to introduce each item. The first item is brought by Slimeko, and is the devised by the collaboration of Lupusregina and Albedo based on the fan. Turning it on, it blows a scent of trees. On top of that, it has a mechanism that suppresses the spread of the wind and gives it directivity through the addition of a canopy and faucet to channel the air path. Slimeko notices that the item is controlled via dials and Demiurge comments that its loke a sideways rain breeze. While the breeze and fresh air from the fan is refreshing, Slimeko finds the air to be a bit too strong in that it blows her away. Momonga sees that the item is like screw propeller, which Demiurge belives could be applied to ship propulsion in their expansion of the open seas. TO Albedo she believed that there is room to improve as does Momonga.

The next item is the Heating Box, which brings some surprise from Aura and Yuri who asked what about the device called a Heating Pot they had devised. The protagonist then explains that when Tsuibayaya was consider both prototypes, he noticed that they were both structurally similar, hence he decided to combine them. Shalltear does not mind and asks Yuri and Mare to help explain the function of the item. Shalltear explains that the item was devised from the idea of reversing-engineering the use of the refrigerator. It is a box intended to heat items within with an adjustable dial to control the temperature. Following Momonga's grateful advice, there is also a window here so that you can see what's inside. Visually Shalltear thinks the dwarf did a good job at crafting it.

Yuri adds that her and Aura’s idea was to create a larger version of the Warm Bottle so food could stay warm. Mare studying the item wonders if not just food could be warmed but also eggs to raise living creatures.

Shalltear wants to test it out, so the protagonist gives a slab of chocolate to try. The candy is placed in the item and heated but even at the lowest setting, the food item explodes leading to everyone to conclude that the item still needs work and would probably be better used as a cooking item than a heating item. The item still receives Momonga’s approval as they now have a frame to work with for the future if the product.

The next item to be shown is revealed to a Cooling Device proposed by Cocytus and CZ.[8] The item in question is a box when turned on by Slimeko silently releases cool air. Cocytus and CZ explain that got inspiration when the install the fan on the 5th Floor, later they expanded it to have the refrigerator be installed with two fans inside and adding a slit in the door to allow the cold air to pass through. CZ due to experience, also commented the having such an item would be useful during outdoor surveillance as it could help maintain one's vitality in the heat. Though the difference is that the two had different idea of scale of size. Cocytus wanted something that kept the house cool, while CZ wanted something that was portable. The prototype as noticed by Shalltear is still a little smaller than the original refrigerator, but still is impossible to wear around the neck. Nevertheless the function of the item is deemed good. But further plans to reduce the size seem to be improbable as according to their dwarf craftsman, anything smaller would cause the amount of cool air to lessen and if the power is increased, then the running time for the item will be shortened. It still its deemed a viable future project that could be made into a trade item.

The last item is Demiurge, Mare and Entoma who worked together to improve a loudspeaker. At first Albedo thinks that Demiurge had it built to expand his power of Command Mantra, which to Demiurge might be worth a try too, but the loudspeakers was invented with the function to mislead hostiles. The device can turn a small voice to a powerful one which he took to heart through the lessons of Bukubukuchagama. Mare demonstrates it use and the sound does indeed distort his voice to a booming sound. As a prototype, it can be said that the performance is quite good though Demiurge is disappointed in it structurally. It was discussed by Entoma that it was suggested that they install lip bugs into the loudspeaker for better replication of sound, since the insects do exist in the New World so introducing them to the magic item won't be an issue. But lip bugs only can be equipped to living beings as tested out by Tsuibayaya. Another idea was to install a live imp in the item though it was not deem workable to use living creatures. Thus they got an item that amplifies the voice's, volume and force, but the articulation became hazy. Momonga still believes they did a good job and encourages them to continue to progress their project in the future. Momonga then concludes the "Sorcerer Kingdom Daily Household Magic Item Fair'' using the loudspeaker to emphasize it.

Aftermath[]

Later at Momonga's office, the Sorcerer King having reviewed the turnout of the fair comes to the assessment that the results were excellent. The items proposed with some work will serve as their nation's cover story and promote trade with the other nations. Present with him are the protagonist, Albedo, and Demiurge. The protagonist asks on how to convey the news discreetly of their new developments to the other nations. Demiurge assures the homunculus that Momonga already has that part of the plan covered, since he ordered the requisition of magic items from the Empire. This insinuates that Momonga plans to use Lupusregina and CZ's identities of Regi and Shizuni to spread the word by bring back the items as souvenirs, which the Overlord quickly confirms to hide his ignorance. Already the two are heading back to the Empire on foot and Demiurge wonders how they journey is doing. At the same time his is thinking about them, Regi and Shizuni, walking on the path to the imperial capital run into a group of wolves and bears much to their annoyance forcing to take arms.

The duo eventually each the Six Arms hideout, where they were met with a banquet by their comrades, prepared for their success. Regi and CZ though offer the group some bad news, They tell them that the items that they bought in the capital didn't sell as intended, which shock everyone, though in Peshurian's case he wins the bet that the venture would fail.

The women inform the workers that the Sorcerer Kingdom is preparing to bring magic items for daily use to E-Rantel in the near future. Malmvist having lost the bet with Peshurian, believes it just bad timing as the kingdom was bound to do something like this due to the contributions it made to the fortress city. Zero though demands to know the situation in E-Rantel, and he and the others learn that demi-humans are somehow involved in the invention of the magic items brought by the Sorcerer Kingdom. Regi and Shizuni stress how amazing they are and allegedly are related to the Boastful Sage.

The new is a bit unexpected to Zero, for the Sorcerer Kingdom to be connected to the legendary minotaur hero, but would explain why the nation is tolerant of demi-humans. The news told to the members of Six Arms is revealed to be secret as Regi and Shizuni add that they heard it through a connection. This attracts Zero's attention as it's highly possible that the people in the Empire are in the dark still and if he uses the information wisely, it may become a shortcut to the becoming a member of the Four Knights in the future.

The female workers have one more surprise for their comrades, and bring out a strange fan item which they allegedly stole. The two explain that the item is called Scented Moisture Fan. Again Zero is thrilled as now he can use this item to present to the emperor as proof of the developments in E-Rantel. Regi then asks if anyone wants to try out the item as she turns it on, creating a storm in their hideout.[9]
