Main article: The Bloody Valkyrie Arc

Cedran and rest of the Black Scripture were sent to deal with the alleged Catastrophe Dragon Lord when they encountered a powerful vampire and tried to capture it. He attempts to block the vampire's attack that meant for Kaire with his shield. However, the javelin easily pierced through his shield, killing him and severely wounding Kaire in the process, effectively preventing her from completing the mind control. The captain then ordered a retreat, taking his body with them.[1]

Mass for the Dead Arc[]

Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc

Cedran was stationed with the Black Scripture in a camp of the Theocracy whilst the armies of the Tripartite Alliance fought against the Chaos Beasts outside the Alliance's capital. He and his comrades took no action when the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth terrorized E-Rantel. Only when the demon and his minions were driven off did his team move out to pursue.[3] The Black Scripture followed the fleeing demon's trail into the Katze Plains where they lost him in the fog. Having lost their quarry, Cedran suggested that they retreat and relocate to the Northern Cave where the E-Rantel Magic Research Institute was setting up believing that they could be of more use there.

However the captain ordered his comrades to remain where they were to continue their search in the plains. After some time of scouring the plains, and killing undead in boredom, the group were about to give up when they encountered a lone wolf that seemingly appeared in the no man's land. The captain determined that the wolf was a familiar and attacked it, causing more summons to emerge from the fog in retaliation. The Scripture fought against the enemy and eventually drew out the summoner Shalltear into the open. Cedran acted as a shield for his captain but was slain by Shalltear in the battle.[4]

Cedran's death along with Beaumarchais's demise forced the Captain to order a retreat from the plains. Once his team were safely out of the fog he learned that Kaire was slowly dying form her wounds. With most of their comrades dead, the captain chose to retreat back to the Theocracy. His death was later reported to the Six Cardinals in a meeting who were shocked by the loss of so many members of the Black Scripture.[5]

Abilities and Powers[]

As a Black Scripture member, Cedran’s skills are an equivalent to an adamantite-ranked adventurer. A shield bearer specialized in defensive combat, using his shields to safeguard allies from harm.

Relationships[]

Captain of the Black Scripture[]

Cedran seems to have respect the Captain, having followed his the latter's leadership without question.

Trivia[]

  • In the Web Novel, Beaumarchais held his epithet.
  • Nazami Enec one of the Four Imperial Knights was stated to not have developed his fighting style but instead copied someone else. Given their similar fighting styles and equipment, it's presumed the person Nazami copied was Cedran.
  • In Mass for the Dead, Cedran meets a similar end to his Light Novel counterpart, speared by Shalltear when the Black Scripture encountered her.

Quotes[]

  • (To Beaumarchais regarding the undead): "The complaint should be to the war-torn Kingdom and Empire of these lands. They are just pathetic victims."
