Caloric Stone is a World Item that was once under the possession of Ainz Ooal Gown. It has since been used by the Guild to craft a certain powerful item.

Description

The Caloric Stone is an unique material and one of the hidden World Items of YGGDRASIL. It can be obtained by gathering and stockpiling vast quantities of certain types of prismatic ores in a single place, fulfilling the conditions to spawn the Caloric Stone in exchange for consuming all the ores. The guild Ainz Ooal Gown managed to produce a Caloric Stone by accident after they had stored an unspecified vast amount of various prismatic ores in the same place (including the newly discovered Celestial Uranium, which was a required critical ingredient in the process of creating a Caloric Stone).[1]

As a result, the guild Ainz Ooal Gown learned the secret method on how to farm Caloric Stones with prismatic ores. However, the method of doing so would require an acquisition of massive amounts of valuable prismatic ores, depleting them from the Seven Hidden Mines. The guild's strategist Punitto Moe (Bellriver in the Web Novel) had the idea of disclosing the secret to the top guilds 2ch Alliance and Trinity, and as a result manipulate others into fighting over the prismatic ores in the mines to somehow produce a Caloric Stone only for the guild Ainz Ooal Gown to swoop in at the opportune moment to pick up the pieces.[2]

Appearance

Abilities

The Caloric Stone is considered to be a crafting material with various applications. It could be used in the creation of a golem's core, weapons, or armor. This is achieved by by allowing the holder of this World Item to make a request to the game developers for the desired item material (Similar to Ouroboros and Five Elements Overcoming in the request process, but with a far more limited specific scope as both Ouroboros and Five Elements Overcoming were among the more powerful World Class Items in Yggdrasil known as the Twenty).[3]

Trivia

  • Ainz Ooal Gown used the Caloric Stone when they learned that they could obtain that expendable-type World Item in the same way as before.
  • Ainz believed that the reason why they had managed to attain the Caloric Stone was entirely due to an extraordinary stroke of luck.
  • Although the Caloric Stone is a consumable World Item that can only be used once, it is not classified as part of the "Twenty."
  • In Mass for the Dead, the temperature of the Great Lake, where the lizardmen live, has risen. The protagonist speculated that Caloric Stone was somewhere in the lake, and suspected the possibility to Momonga. However it turned out just to be Heatstones.[4]
