Personality

Though a deity, and given the charge of fulfilling the wishes of mortals, it seems that Bishamonten was rather indifferent to the task and unwilling to accept his role.

Background

According to the account of his creation, Shiramochi-ō, Bishamonten was originally a human that eventually became worshiped as a god alongside with a group that would be known as the Seven Lucky Gods. Unfortunately these beings had no real interest in fulfilling the roles forced upon them. So in order to fulfil the wishes of every new year, the gods used the Sea of Possibilities to create a being that could act as their solution to the predicament.

Bishamonten was known as the god of war and also a samurai.

Relationships

Cocytus

Cocytus was an unknowing pawn in the New Year event caused by the Seven Lucky God. The Floor Guardian under the influence of the "New Year's mood" that spread throughout Nazarick was selected to be the gatekeeper for Bishamonten's temple. The reason being was that Cocytus's being a samurai and having one of his attacks as a reference to Acalanātha or Fudō Myō-ō who was a companion to the god Bishamonten in literature.

Shiramochi-ō

Shiramochi-ō was the creation of Bishamonten to fulfill his wishes for every coming new year. However the Ruler of New Year has nothing but a grudge against the god as he and his comrades turned is life into both a blessing and a curse.

Trivia

  • Of all the Seven Lucky Gods, Bishamonten was the only god named in the event.
