Assassination of Rugi was an operation committed by the Holocaust Scripture of the Slane Theocracy during the Theocracy - Elf War to eliminate the obstruction that was preventing their main army from advancing through the Great Forest of Evasha to Crescent Lake, the seat of the elven capital of the Elf Country.

Background[]

Despite the greater military for of the Theocracy, advancing into the Great Forest of Evasha proved difficult. While the forest was filled with many dangerous obstacles, there were no chokepoints or impassible physical barriers, save for one that halted an army of 40,000 soldiers.

The said chokepoint was caused by a single elven girl wielding a gigantic bow and a quiver of arrows that replenish without end.

Though the best strategy for such a situation was to move around the obstacle, making a detour around her through the forest while not impossible was still difficult. In addition since the opposition was only a single girl, she had the advantage of being mobile and taking note of the army's movements, if the army chose to go through another direction in the forest, they would be at her mercy and morale would plummet.

A plan was proposed to occupy the elf using a small force to allow the larger one to continue the advance through the forest. Though this plan was rejected as it would divide their forces in hostile territory. Since they knew the girl's location, the Theocracy leaders believed it was the best opportunity to deal with her, even if they had to sacrifice some of their forces.

Given that they leaders believed they were dealing with someone who had reached the Realm of Heroes, a four man team of the Holocaust Scripture was deployed since they specialized in killing heroes. For this mission the team was composed of consisting of one common class and magic casters who could also use [Invisibility].

Battle[]

The team led by Schoen, the vice captain of the Scripture, converged on the elf's location under the cover of magic through [Invisibility] and [Silence]. After an unknown amount of time the team laid in wait to gather intel on her, until the elf detected the advance of a thousand strong group from the Theocracy army approaching from behind. These soldiers were sacrifices to allow the hidden Holocaust Scripture team to gauge the strength of the elf. The girl proceeded to notch and shoot a single arrow that wove through the trees before scattering in multiple projectiles, each one hitting a target. The soldiers were wounded and still alive, but were left confused by the source of the trajectory of the arrows. Having lost their fighting spirit, many of them chose to scatter through the forest in order to escape the attacks. However the girl proceeded to shoot another arrow that wove through the trees and split in many arrows, sniping each soldier dead.

While hearing the soldiers die painfully, Schoen learned something from their deaths, that the elf couldn't kill an ordinary soldier in a single attack. That said, she was not a hero as a hero could kill every one of those regular soldiers with a single attack. The vice captain having confirmed this was confident that he and his team could defeat her. Thus Schoen used his various classes such as Arcane Devotee and Adept of Surshana to strengthen his spells to access [Triplet Magic] and used [Silent Maximized Magic - Magic Arrow]. He then dispelled his invisibility to launch a total barrage of twelve magic arrows at her, which were followed by a hundred plus arrows from his subordinates. The arrows hit their mark, piercing her body until she collapsed.

Schoen then approached her corpse to confirm the elf's death. Though he wanted spit on the elf for the deaths of his countrymen, the vice captain chose to prioritize collecting the equipment she possessed as he believed that the equipment was powerful. Before he could so so, he was interrupted by an unexpected interloper: The Elf King Decem Hougan.

The presence of the most hated criminal and deplorable enemy of the Theocracy came as a shock to the team as he was not supposed to be in the area besides their target. The Elf King revealed that the girl they assassinate was his daughter, though enraged by her death towards the humans, the elf he was instead furious at the girl for being weak. His appearance in the area apparently was to prevent the humans from collecting the equipment he lent to the girl. Schoen having no way to escape using [Fly] due to exhausting his mana and realizing that there was no chance of victory re-casted concealment magic on himself to flee towards the trees. It did little help as the elf could still detect him via his extraordinary sight.

Decem while believing it was pointless to kill the members of Holocaust Scripture, decided to indulge himself in battle, by summoning and elemental he called Behemot. Once it manifested, he ordered the elemental to kill the humans. Schoen understanding that they had no choice, decided to buy time for his team to escape. After dispelling his concealment and giving them the order to disperse, the vice captain confronted the Elf King who was backed by his invincible summon. The vice captain goaded the elf to attack him and place a [Wall of Stone] between them. The barrier only lasted for a moment as it was broken with a single strike of Behemot's fist. Schoen seeing that this was the end accepted his fate, satisfied that his team had successfully escaped, and was turned into a pulp by the second strike.

Aftermath[]

After the skirmish with the Holocaust Scripture, Decem had Behemot carry him back to the elven capital to return to his castle. There he was confronted by Myugi who demanded to know where Rugi was. It took for a while for the Elf King to recall who she was referring to, only realizing it was the failure he left in the forest. However seeing that he came alone, Myugi understood that their daughter was dead, which the king nonchalantly confirmed. Oblivious to her pain, Decem told her to come to his bedchambers so he could give her another chance for giving birth to failed creation, in effect asking her to produce another child with him.

When Decem placed his equipment back in the treasury and waited in his chambers, he was informed by a manservant that Myugi had killed herself by jumping off a balcony. The elf surprised, not by her death, but that fact she died from a 'short' fall was incapable of seeing he was the one who drove her to suicide. He believed that she was murdered by someone who envied her position in sharing a bed with him. Though he came to the deluded conclusion that Myugi killed herself as a form of apology for giving birth to a worthless child, for which he proclaimed to forgive her. He left the matter of giving Myugi a proper burial to his servant. Then as if nothing happened Decem ordered the servant to send his daughters and wife to his chambers.[1]

Meanwhile the troops from the Holocaust Scripture that managed to escape had reported back to their superiors regarding the situation. This led to the decision to allow Antilene Heran Fouche to finally be let out of the country's borders and confront the Elf King directly, much to her anticipation.[2]
