Apple (アップル) is a dark elf from the Elf Country.

Appearance[]

According to Aura he looks to be quite old, for an elf, though he claims to be still young at an age a bit over 200 years.

Personality[]

Apple had a cool and collected personality which suited him as Master of the Hunt, a person with nothing to criticize. He also had a moderate mindset when dealing with the division in his village. Having lived in his village, he appears to be ignorant of the larger world and even the elven capital.

Background[]

Apple was the Master of the Hunt in his village. When the village was divided into two of those who respected the traditions, the elders, and those, mainly of young people, who sought to break with the traditions, Apple being neutral in the issue attempted to try to resolve the ongoing internal tension with his ally Blueberry Egnia. Though his neutrality was scorned by both sides and his loyalty was questioned on whose side he was on.

Chronology[]

The Half Elf God-kin Arc[]

Main article: The Half Elf God-kin I and The Half Elf God-kin II Arc

The Master of the Hunt was informed by Blueberry Egnia that he detected sounds of an mature Ankyloursus outside the periphery of the village's elf trees. Additionally he told Apple and the other rangers of a sense of abnormality.

Apple trusting his friend’s instincts decided to cancel the village’s hunting trip. Thinking that the roar of the magical beast was in response to something coming into its territory, he ordered the rangers to solidify the village’s defenses. In those orders he told the rangers to warn everyone in the village, and assigned several rangers such as Beniri, to handle the division of personnel, Plum Ganen to the Chief Pharmacist, and Ovei to the Rite Master, and tell them about the situation while he informed the Council of Elders.

After the rangers dispersed he called Egnia over to discuss about the growing tension between the younger members of the village and the elders. Apple suggested that Egnia should have the role of leader, as his skills were respected by the youth and temper ambitions of subverting the elders.

However Egnia declined as it would set a bad precedent that could encourage other villages to forsake the elder system in favor of passing leadership to the most skills, upheaving the society of dark elves. That being said the two having no idea how to resolve the division in their village decided to concentrate on defend the village.

After some time passé without any noise from the forest, Apple wanted to send out a party to investigate. However the beast that was making the howling in the forest showed itself and began to approach the village. Upon seeing that it was the Ankyloursus Lord, Apple and his rangers were threw into a panic. Divided between fleeing the beast and brave the dangers of the forest, the rangers witnessed the bear began to attack the elf trees. The village now under threat, Apple agreed to a consensus to draw the Ankyloursus away from the village using bait and sent Sumomo and Prune to prepare meat smeared with honey. Just after he gave those orders the Ankyloursus then turned it attention on attacking the plaza of the village. Apple followed Egnia’s lead to try and distract it, but their attacks were useless against the bear.

Luckily the village was saved due to the appearance of the young dark elf girl named Aura Bella Fiora, who drove the monster away with just her bow and arrow. Apple attended to a wounded Egnia. Finding his friend making no sense with words, made the Master of the Hung think the ranger was concussed and sent him to get medical attention while he spoke to the dark elf girl.

Apple took her to see the Council of Elders. While they headed to the elders, Apple learned a little about Aura and where she hailed from, which slightly piqued his interest. When both factions in the village were having a subtle argument before their guest, Apple was disconcerted by their behavior. They were brought back to their senses when Aura warned she would go to another village if this was how she was treated. Later at the elders' orders he guided the girl to the best elf tree to take residence in for her stay.[1]

After Aura's uncle and brother, Ain Bell Fior and Mare Bello Fiore arrived at the village, Apple greeted them and was the first to inspect the goods that Ain had brought with him. He took an interest in the arrowheads and initially wanted to barter with the traveler, but was turned down as the items were gifts for the village. Among the items were those made by dwarves with runecraft. He got rather angry after Ganen asked whether Ain had any elf blood in him, though the traveler did not mind to answer some of the dark elf's questions. Among the questions was whether he was a strong ranger or druid, though was surprised that Ain was an arcane magic caster. Apple later guided Ain to meet with the elders at his request.[2]

Abilities and Powers[]

Apple’s specialty was trapping, but his abilities were far behind those of Egnia.

Relationships[]

Blueberry Egnia[]

Egnia was his senior by a few years, relatively speaking. Despite being Master of the Hunt, Apple valued Egnia’s counsel as a friend and fellow ranger.

Plum Ganen[]

Ganen was Apple’s subordinate, acting as one of his Vice Masters of the Hunt. He was aware that Ganen was a member of the faction that sought to do any with tradition and disapproved of the other dark elf trying to instigate an argument with the elders and would chastise him for it.

Aura Bella Fiora[]

The Master of the Hunt was grateful to the young dark elf for saving his village and acted professionally towards Aura. Initially he assumed Aura was a country of dark elves, but his interest of her homeland was stimulated the more he learned about the outside world. He attributed her incredible strength to being the result of more dangerous monsters existing outside his home forest.

Trivia[]

  • Apple knows of the elf Capital, though only through hearsay and thinking it to be just a larger village.

Quotes[]

  • (To Egnia): “I’ve been thinking this for a long time, but shouldn’t you, the person with the most outstanding skills in the whole village, take the role of leader?” (To Aura when speaking for Egnia’s): “My, my apologies. It seems that Egnia is confused from his fear of the ’Ursus Lord.”
