Ankyloursus (
Background[]
For the elves in the forest, full grown ankyloursi are synonymous with death.
Once an ankyloursus demarks its territory, it won't change it, even though it will expand it as their body grows bigger, but still it is rare for them to hunt outside their territory. They are also known to be obstinate creatures, and will stick to their prey. If a prey escapes their territory, an ankyloursus will most likely pursue it outside its territory. Although they are omnivorous, many individuals prefer to eat particular foods. If they catch prey and do not eat it, ankyloursi usually buries it in the ground to store it. Additionally they had similar nature to bears and have a prevalence to honey.
Despite their fearsome reputation, ankyloursi are still regarded by the elves to be part of nature that maintain the balance in the vicinity.[2]
Appearance[]
From a distance the monster resembles a bear, but it has a few notable differences. For one the body length of these creatures is between 2 to 3 meters. It has two pairs of front legs and two hind legs. The four forefeet are used exclusively for combat and end in sharp, pointed claws that exceed 80 cm and possess hardness that surpasses steel. A thick long tail extends from the waist with a tip that ends in a hammer. Most of its body is protected by hard armor developed as scales.
Abilities[]
The physical strength of an ankyloursus is tremendous as a blow delivered by its hard, sharp claws and impressive muscular strength can easily tear humans. The creatures possess armor that can repel arrows and physical strength that can tear a being in half. Due to its top notch physical abilities, running away is difficult.
By itself a ankyloursus is troublesome foe, though a village of elves could probably repel one.
Thankfully that is all a person needs to be wary of as the ankyloursus does not have any special abilities nor can it use any powerful magic save for one.
- Fragrance: A noncombative spell that eliminates stickiness and body odor. It is used by the ankylosaurus to eliminate its scent when approaching prey.
Trivia[]
- Although it is a ranked predator, it is by no means the strongest species in the Great Sea of Trees, however there was an exception.
- From the observations of dark elves, when a mature ursus howls, it usually indicates that something invaded its territory. Though its howl could mean other significant things:
- That they is quarreling against strong foes or hostile members of its race.
- That it wants its victory to be known or show their current location.
- That they are breeding.
